Truth is both fullbacks actually tried yesterday and yes Bright, aside the controversial penalty call, especially showed improvement yesterday although he did struggle a bit against Tounekti who came on. This, I believe, was part reason for the introduction of Ejuke to help out on the right channel.

Bright was key to our possession-transition plays on the right channel and provided more final third penetration. Bruno on the other hand won more duels, made more tackles and provided crosses.

As non-rated as both were before the game, they actually delivered solid showings for the most parts.

Yeah, Osayi did well yesterday....even better than Bruno. He struggled against Tounekti because the Tunisians chose the left wing as their attack outlet and there was suddenly an overload of players against him.

I was particularly impressed by his ball retention, calmness and ability to find the right pass even under pressure. The handball was just unfortunate and shouldn't have been awarded as a penalty. But despite that I'll rate him a solid 7.5/10.

Hannibal wey onyeka caged. Removing onyeka was a deep mistake. I still repeat, those assistant coaches from Nigeria should leave super eagles , they know nothing. Poor game management, wrong substitutions were made by Chelle. He shouldn't have removed Onyeka. He shouldn't have made two substitutions at once. He should have only removed Akor for another midfielder, maybe Akinsanmiro or Nnadi. Moses Simon and Ejuke were not required in this game.

The same Ejuke who came in had a chance to pass to Osimhen for our 4th goal but went for personal glory and missed.

A double pivot is in place and a 3man midfield but not a 3 man central backline which is what I would have preferred.

Frank Onyeka in a double pivot with Wilfred Ndidi and probably with licence to also bomb forward.

2 man attack of Akor and Osimhen. Lookman playing close to them and Iwobi to act as the linkman between midfield and attack.

Hmmm... on paper seems to me like a 4-3-1-2 but it could vary in interpretation when executed.

Reinforcement in midfield with Onyeka. Not bad.

Still a four-man defence but Bruno in for Zaidu. I guess this is justified with the stinker Zaidu dropped in the Tanzania game. I would have preferred a five-man defence though.

Also, I'll have preferred Chukwueze to have started ahead of Akor Adams.

I liked the way Egypt defended resolutely. Very organized, disciplined, energetic and filled with tireless running.

Can the Super Eagles defend so resolutely with a back four of Bassey, Ajayi, Osayi and Zaidu? I don't know. Osayi and Zaidu switch off sometimes. Ajayi is average, butty and lacks that defensive grit. Chai, injury did us a strong thing with the absence of Aina and Frederick because the only solid person in our defence is Calvin Bassey.

I'm certain we'll qualify for the 2nd round but to win the AFCON we have to be defensively solid and not leak goals. The only remedy in my opinion is to increase the numbers in defence. Eric Chelle should switch to a five man defence in the knockout stages.
