To your question, I prefer the VTCL blender over the Qasa Pro 5 on any other day. My own opinion o. VTCL is more rugged than even the best blenders advertised these days, and it is multifunctional too.

Though it's coming late, thank you for the response.

Our blender packed up, and its absence was hindering culinary operations so I had to get another fast and copped the Qasa Pro 5 on Monday.

Still, let me give you some feedback on what informed my choice.

1. You know foodstuffs are blended to different textures. e.g. Tomato/Pepper for sauce is blended to rough texture. Tomato for stew and soup is blended smooth etc. On this point, I considered the Qasa Pro 5 the superior blender because of its transparent polycarbonate plastic jug and cups. I mean, with the VTCL, one has to be opening the stainless steel cup and be checking the texture of the grinded stuff, especially when you want a rough, not so smooth blend.

2. I also preferred the removable bottom base design and blades assembly of the Qasa Pro 5.

3. Also, from my research I discovered that the replacement parts of the Qasa Pro 5, especially the blades and the drive socket (mushroom head) are locally available, hence easier to repair by technicians.

4. The big 2L jug and 1500 watts motor engine of the Qasa Pro 5 makes it a bigger capacity and more powerful blender.

The absolute deal breaker for me on the VTCL was the stainless steel cups. How person no go dey see korokoro in real time wetin hin dey blend?

With its more attractive price point and unique engine base design, I'll definitely have opted for the VTCL if it had transparent cups.

I order stuff mostly from e-commerce sites. Aliexpress, Temu, Jumia, Konga, and then IG vendors with good ratings.

Jumia and Konga vendors were offering the product for 20k more so they were not even an option.

Also, I was impressed that when others were in Church on Sunday, this TT vendor was in her shop doing TIkTok live, and selling her market. She panned the camera to the product in her shop, and even unboxed it, and showed me on TT. I was quite impressed.

This was my first TikTok order and I just trusted my intuition and went with her due to her warm and very patient disposition when I was bombarding her with questions on her TikTok live. Guy, I dey worry o.

I contacted other vendors that even had the product cheaper but wan karan si mi. One even told me, "Sir, what do you want me to tell you again. Pls if you dont want to buy it from me, its okay. A customer that will buy will not stress me". I just exed her.

The NL vendor you made inquiries from about a charcoal pot for boiling water has not replied my post on her thread till today. The messages sent to the whatsapp number listed for inquiries on her thread are still undelivered. Too bad.

In all, I'm glad I went with this TT vendor and she delivered spectacularly.

The kind of nonsense I see on SM these days has to be funny. You go to China and find a closed market. Instead of buying, fixing your margin and making your profit, you decide to set camera and tell your followers what you found, and how much they can sell it in Nigeria.

Now, Chinese are trooping massively into Nigeria. From Panels, Clothes, bags, etc, they have bypassed you and are bringing it to Nigerians cheaper.

Been seeing the complaints from suppliers and vendors on TikTok, especially the dragging of the paramount lady but I kinda think it was inevitable and the natural direction of things especially with increased internet access, and better supply chains and logistics.

As globalization takes hold, gatekeeping information by wholesalers became more difficult. Throw in cheap internet access and the monetization of social media, and everything kpafuka. Now, a retailer and a wholesaler have access to the same Chinese manufacturers and suppliers.

Social media especially TikTok, Instagram and Facebook were the death knell. Clout entered business, attention became currency and people began creating content not just to sell but to chase views and engagements. So instead of protecting supply chains, logistics methods and routes, they let out industry and trade secrets

Another thing, the Chinese are astute business people, and are always looking to expand to new markets. They have access to data and can crunch the numbers. Nigeria with its huge 250 million people with a youth population of 140 - 160 milion is a huge market that cannot be ignored.

Also, we are increasingly shopping online. Go on aliexpress, Temu and other international e-commerce sites. You are guaranteed to see feedback/reviews from Nigerian buyers on popular products. The Chinese would have studied our buying patterns and made their sales projections before coming to set up here.

Bottom line, Chinese suppliers coming to set up shop in Nigeria no be because Nigerians leak trade secrets. It was inevitable and bound to happen. And make we talk true, if your business depends on hiding your supply source and inflating prices, the internet will expose you one day. Sellers need to adapt by giving competitive prices, and execute better.

Talking about execution, I placed an order yesterday for a Qasa Pro 5 Heavy Duty Blender from a Lagos based vendor I met on TikTok, and this morning at 11am, I got a call to come pick my order. This is the fastest I have received an order in all my years of buying from Jiji, Konga, Jumia, IG and TikTok vendors. How she take run am? You can make time for anything you enjoy, you just have to be efficient with it.

Lunchtime run is just 21 mins, add another 19 mins for shower and change and it's the same 40 mins you use to consume lunch that Mrs SemiD packed for you. I don't eat breakfast or lunch. I pack 2 bananas in the morning that sees me through till dinner.

Nigerians spend too much time on travel, food prep and religious activities. Travel you can't avoid but the other 2 can be cut down to almost zero. I have this theory that any society without fast food is unproductive. Chinese can cook you a meal from scratch in 5 to 10 mins, even Ghana will throw shitto on some carbs and food will be ready. I use Ghana method of shitto on potatoes etc during the week so once I get home, food will be ready in 5 mins then I can go play football.

Lol.. Most average and well-to-do families in Nigeria cook in bulk, and store in freezers. Stews, soups, beans, cooked proteins etc are all stored in the freezer. These foods stretch across days and save families from the stress of daily cooking. This is actually good planning and efficient time management.

Moreover, it seems you've forgotten that noodles, sardines, geisha, corned beef and other easily prepared food assortments dey for Naija? In all, home-made meals are healthier and keep family running costs down in this hard economy.

On travel, which Nigerians dey travel? You think all those, "come with me as I take a road trip to Ghana" , tourist destinations in Nigeria and abroad that you see on SM is the reality of the average Nigerian? Lol. Most of my weight training in the week is done in 20 mins before work. If you have the education, with compound dumbbell exercises, you can do all 3 exercises for 3 sets of 10 for every major muscle group in the upper body within 15 mins (shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps, lats and back). I try to do these on weekdays in the morning before work, then do 2 major sessions on Saturday and Sunday when I have more time.

Good for you. Again, na because you get time and live in a sane clime that things are predictable and you don't have to worry about extraneous circumstances.

The other thing Nigerians spend major time on is religious activities. At least 1/4 of the weekend spent on church etc with all the dressing and travel. I send my kids to church to learn good morals while I use the time for my Sunday session. I have been in gym since 8.30 am this morning and would be home by 11am, same time preacher is just starting his sermon in most churches.

On a personal level, I've fallen off and the last time I entered Church was 2024. Wifey and the kids go every Sunday, and I assist her in prepping the kids.

Still, I don't think Nigerians spend too much time in religious places of worship. I mean, it's not too much for an adherent of a religion to devote 3/4 hours on a particular day every week in in a "religious house" to worship the God they serve.

In all, you speak from a place of privilege and have lost touch with the Nigerian reality. Continue to dey enjoy, sir. Nothing do you.

Training for Manchester 10km race in 6 weeks with aims of completing in 55 to 60 mins which is 5.30-6.00min/km pace.

My training consists of three 4.3km tempo runs per week during my work lunch-break alongside once a week sprints of 800m x 4 when I'm working from home. Trying to juggle this with weight training 4 times a week and 3 times a week football. Then every two weeks I do a long recovery run (about 10km) on a Saturday morning when I drop kids off for dancing lessons. I actually planned 14km (1/3rd marathon) on my recovery run this morning but my hip seize up at 8km. Make I just respect my age and stop it here.

I suppose I just want to see artistes like Johnny Drille at the very least enjoy the same commercial success as the others.
Johnny is who I rate as highly as Jon Bellion and The Weeknd, and his covers of their songs during the Lockdown will make you ditch the original.
Case in point, his cover of Jon Bellion's "All Time Low" during the Lockdown will give you goosebumps.
He can hold the crowd and audience as much as Passenger does.

I'm glad Tems made it out and gets appreciated by a global audience for her talent. I wish Johnny made it out. I wish Praiz made it out in 2014 before it was too late, banking on his out-of-this-world cover of Rihanna's "Stay" (which is better than the original, in my opinion).

I wish Blessing Tangban (who has one of the purest, delicate vocals you'll ever hear) made it out yet she rots in near obscurity.

I do not have a weird taste in music. My taste of music is eclectic, and I have a taste for good music as defined by my ears which cuts across many genres. I like country, rock, afrobeats, gospel worship, contemporary gospel, R & B, Juju, Fuji, roots reggae, dancehall reggae, pop, soul etc.

There was a time, I was stuck on Enya, Another time it was Yanni,. Later it was Kenny G. Another time Phil Collins. Another time Simon Webbe. Musiq soulchild. Indigineously, I've been through phases with Fela, King Sunny Ade, Sir Shina Peters, Chief Field Marshall Echo Toikumo, King Robert Ebizimor etc

I also like many of the popular tunes from our popular artistes. I also have opinions that I'll drop, and many peeps go disagree, and be like this guy no sabi music jare. You get the point.

Where we differ is your elevation of alte artistes and sounds over afrobeats and afrobeats artistes., and the fact that I understand consumer behaviour and know why the industry is skewed towards afrobeats.

See, make we no dey forget say this music thing na career, a poverty escape route for many of these artistes. So to quickly blow in Nigeria in this streaming era, these artistes gats jump on the dominant, trending and danceable genre which is afrobeats. Doing alte music won't blow any artiste in Nigeria. In the current Nigerian music space, commercial success = afrobeats.

I respect and rate Johnny Drille highly. Pure performer. I have seen dozen of videos of his Johnny Room live performances,,and I am always blown away by the ambience and his performances.

By the way, I never said Burna and Wizkid were not talented. I was only referring to their voice quality and vocal dexterity. Remember, I said it takes talent to make a hit song, and these guys get them plenty in their repertoire, and have remained relevant for years which is a difficult thing to do.

All those other guys, Praiz, Capital Femi, Bez etc wey you dey always namedrop, they should stay true to their craft, continue in their alte lane with their loyal fanbase and continue to wallow in obscurity or jump on the afrobeats bandwagon if dem want commercial success. There is no other way.

What separates these men from the rest is not just technical ability, it is emotional specificity. Anybody can sing about love in the general sense.
Chike sings about the particular weight of loving someone who is still figuring out whether they love you back.
Ric Hassani writes romance the way old school Afro soul used to be written, with a sincerity that now feels almost rebellious in a market saturated with songs about money and women who are suspicious of both.
Praiz has a rawness in his delivery that sounds like the song is happening to him in real time, not something he rehearsed. You might think these are just singers but to me they are documentarians of the human heart.

The industry comparison is damning if you sit with it long enough. Nigeria celebrated Burna Boy winning a Grammy, rightfully so. But the same music culture that holds up international validation as the ultimate standard has spent years giving these men crumbs.
Chike appeared on Voice Nigeria, came out as a runner up, and then built a career largely on the strength of people who heard him and could not unhear him.
Just so you know, he built everything with no label machinery and no industry placement. It was just voice meeting ear and refusing to let go. That is a rare and almost unfair kind of talent.

Honesty demands we also name the gap. These men are not struggling in obscurity because Nigeria has bad taste. They are navigating a streaming economy, a social media algorithm, and a cultural appetite that currently rewards energy over interiority. It is not that Nigerians cannot appreciate depth.

Behind the Scenes just proved that a film with genuine emotional weight can pack cinemas and make grown men cry beside strangers. The appetite for feeling is there. Someone just needs to make it loud enough that the algorithm notices. The talent is not in question. Nigeria's priorities are.

Succinctly stated. Over the years I have done my part to promote these guys as much as I can.
I've been following Johnny Drille since 2016, wrote lengthy blog op-eds he endorsed on Twitter in 2018/2019, joined a team of volunteer alternative music lovers who divided themselves into regional publicity teams to push his album in 2021; organizing ourselves in Telegram groups.

I follow and push the works of Bez and Praiz, evangelizing to anyone and everyone to listen to their music.

For Ric Hassani, we had a ragtag group of fans push his music through 2021/2022 on Twitter...until I had to stop because it was messing with my algorithm (which to be tech-heavy).

These are the artistes I stream on Spotify and binge-watch in picture-in-picture mode on YouTube. I'll rather interact with Styl Plus and Jeremiah Gyang's Instagram posts than the biggest artistes out there.

But we can only do so much. For the relatively few of us, it's never enough. Johnny Drille, Bez, Chike and the likes do have the repertoire to sell out stadiums...in a country which appreciates actual talents. Maybe the problem is, they do clean music in secular contexts?

Three weeks ago, the Oba of Benin hosted Shallipopi in his palace, while his Chiefs sang along to the latter's songs. Shallipopi sings about fraud and has a mugshot arrested for the same crime yet the Oba validates him.

Same way a Young Jonn will sooner get recognition by another southern state over a Cobhams Asuquo.

I know the Oba is father to all but Johnny Drille never gets such invitation...and he's an ambassador any would be glad to have: educated, well-spoken, refined, peaceful, expresses civility and dignity in his art and life...

Nigeria does treat its most talented male vocalists like dung. Sad reality.

You cannot force your taste on everyone. No be you go decide wetin be good music, who be good/talented artiste and who Nigerians should listen to.

It is called Nigerian music industry, and not Nigerian alte music industry, and different music genres and sounds dey the industry. Afrobeats, R & B (Afro R & B), Pop (Afropop), Fuji, Juju, Gospel, Highlife, Alte/indie, Amapiano, Afrosoul, Jazz, HipHop/Rap etc

That all these sounds exist is a reflection of musical diversity, and how musically talented our artistes are. It's just that one sound (Afrobeats) is dominant, and appeals to the majority of youths. This phenomenon of a dominant genre exists everywhere there's a plurality of sounds. Even Yankee. I(t's the reason the Country Music Awards exists over there cos they felt their music genre was being relegated.)

Now, the idea that Nigeria ignores vocalists is not true. People like Johnny Drille, Ric Hassani, Chike, Brymo, Praiz , Bez etc are not unknown underground artistes. I doubt there's anyone here who does not know them. They have loyal fanbases, sell out shows and have decent streaming numbers. It's just that they've chosen a defined lane, and stuck with it mostly.

These aristes also have cross over appeal, and have featured in some of the biggest Nigerian tunes. Chike was in running with Simi, and Egwu with Mohbad. Brymo was in Ice Prince's oleku, Ric Hassanii Thinder fire you is popular. He also has a song with Portable. Johnny Drille's How are you is a big crossover tune. The same Johnny Drille probably has the best family oriented music show in Nigeria with his Johnny's Room Live which is always sold out and well attended. So they are known and well recognized in the industry. DO NOT CONFUSE THEIR NON-DOMINANT MUSIC GENRE with them being undervalued.

Now Afrobeats like the name implies is a beats heavy, rhythmic, groovy and extremely danceable music genre. (Same with Amapiano). It resonates with the youths, has blown, and gotten virality in a globalized world dominated by social media. A song blowing depends on its beat, "sweetness" of the hook/chorus, "vibeability" and not the popularity of the artiste. Its the reason the Afrobeats genre has so many one-hit wonders e.g, Chella - My darling, Goya Menor - ameno, Olakira - in my maserati, Fido - joy is coming etc. and many others artistes who have fallen off. Coincidentally, its the reason I respect our big three cos they've remained relevant for decades which is not an easy thing to do in the Afrobeats music space.

I don dey ramble, back to the topic. Afrobeats, is being carried by groove, beats, identity and global positioning. So expecting pure vocalists to dominate the beat-driven ecosystem is like expecting Enya to top the HipHop/R & B charts. You sef check am, our big 5 - Wizkid, Davido, Burna, Rhema and Asake, ....how many of dem sabi sing, as in vocal dexterity? Therein lies your answer.

Another point, Nigerians don't hate depth. We just have a preference for music that fits our daily reality. Country is hard, economy is bitting, money no dey, people dey hustle and are stressed. We need music that will lift our mood fast and get us bopping. Whether in the home, street, car, parties or club. To quote the legendary Sir Shina Peters,,"dance dance, dance and forget your sorrows". Nobody get time to siddon dey listen to love/spiritual song done over acoustic guitar, and analyze lyrics to decipher the meaning like Brymo dey sing. Biko, no stress me.

By the way, the 11pm Johnny Drille on repeat point actually contradicts your main point. It shows segmentation and time-based consumption pattern of music. In the daytime and in public, Nigerians prefer high energy, vibeable songs. At night and in private, na slow tempo introspective songs we dey play, which is logical. Bottom line, both exist and are consumed, just in different ways.

On the industry being cruel. Na so life be. If anything, the alte artists have done well because they carved a niche for themselves. (Talking about niche, shey you see how Isegun Johnson carved a niche for himself with his Owambe hyping genre of music?). Not every artiste wants to be everywhere, and lots of peeps including me respect them for that. And please, the loud afrobeats artists do not lack skill or intention. Making a hit song that blows requires talent and a lot of hard work. From choosing the right producer, beat selection, layering the lyrics on the beat, the hook/chorus, mixing etc. E no easy.

Lastly, real music no get universal definition. I fit no like wetin you like, and you fit no like wetin I like. Rather, J'll say all music is real music. Yes, implanon is easily removed. Wifey removed hers in early December, saw her monthly flow in January, and she took in February.

The Copper IUD, I assume can be easily removed by pulling the strings.

Both have to be renoved by healthcare professionals.

This is 2026 and most sensible family men have long departed from those non-chalant attitude of their own traditional African man (especially those that don't have house help/domestic servants to assist the wife )
