dipomania070: Bro what year did you grad and what department? Maybe there is a restructure in the grading system. I also grad in eksu. For years this has been the grading system:
4.5 - 5.0 First class 3.5 - 4.49 Second class upper 2.5 - 3.49 Second class Lower 1.5 - 2.49. Third Class 1.0 - 1.49 Pass
Hope there is no error in your transcript? I noticed that a year after I graduated 2015 precisely the NUC came out with a regrading method where E will no longer be a pass mark again and the least pass mark then was 45 instead of 40. With these back then the CGPA points where adjusted, but later they noticed that first class student where too plenty so they have to revert it back to the age long practice. I perceive he graduated between these time. |

bracelum: Who reads a 6-page SOP? I'm sure they didn't even read beyond the first page
I always tell applicants - don't make things hard for yourself
- A short and coherent SOP (1K words max unless your school gives you word count) - 1-page resume (the average person spends 10 seconds on a resume) - Clear LOR showing your skills AND EXAMPLES OF SITUATIONS WHERE YOU SHOWED THOSE SKILLS (highlight those skills while sending your LOR requests to your referees)
Shikenah! No long thing... Please what of a situation where my graduate school ask me to write this for funding opportunities How many pages can I write. Expecially when the word EXTENSIVE surface Please write an EXTENSIVE personal statement addressing: Why are your reasons for attending graduate school (e.g. why have you selected this path, what major goals do you see graduate school connected to/influencing in your life)? Why do you feel you should be granted an assistantship? As part of your experience as a GA, are there any specific skills or abilities that you would like to learn / develop (e.g. statistics, speaking skills)? What deficits / weaknesses do you feel you currently have that may be related to your position as a GA? What are your expectations of working as a GA / Research Associate (e.g. tasks you will be asked to complete, experiences you hope to be a part of)? In terms of educational expertise, what areas of interest are you most interested in? What plans do you have to grow in this area? |

alexohams2000: Hello, I sure will drop the transcripts, missed three weeks of lectures so trying so hard to catch up... before I drop that when I am free, points to note, first, my interview was not in Nigeria, the questions were just so spontaneous, totally different from what's in here but then haven prepared exceptionally for the usual questions, I swept through.
As for my Initial AP status, I spent almost three weeks waiting and praying, but the the inspiration/advise came and I bombarded the embassy with emails and next day they acted, all thanks to God it came out positive. My advise to anyone future AP 'victim', please, wait for the embassy for like a week, if you don't hear from them, e-mail them and cal. Ignore that shit in that paper telling you not to contact until after 60 days, I mean...
My experience so far in brief: Education pass education, there's almost no education in Nigeria, don't come here and argue with me before I vex oo. My first lecture here, I almost weeped for my country and continent. Nigeria is still farrrrrr.
My school needs more African students though, we are about 10 here from Africa and 4 of us are Nigerians. I am the only graduate student here from Nigeria and in coming weeks I will be officially going around different states/localities that have notable African communities to create awareness...beginning with Houston here.
May God bless Nigeria! May God bless Africa! God has blessed America mehn!!!!!! Please what is the name of the school and do they give funding |

Nutshell44: Travel transcript. So I couldn’t literally sleep that night,my dad took me to the airport around 6am for a 12pm flight. Got to the airport around 7am. Waited till 8:30 for check in to start. I checked in around 8:40. Then went straight to immigration counters for clearance. Then boarded the Emirates aircraft at exactly 11:05. The plane left by 12:05. It was a long journey to Dubai first. Almost 8 hours. Got to Dubai around 11pm Dubai time. I don’t want to criticize muritala Muhammed airprort, but you people need to see Dubai International Airport DXB. I was astonished by everything I saw. They have a system that works. Layover was for 3 hours. Then we boarded the next plane around 2:35. From Dubai to Jfk. A 14 hour 45 minutes flight. That flight was so long. 14 hours nobi beans oo. But the in-flight entertainment was so suberp that u will be occupied throughout the flight. Lots of latest films and music. I even watched arsenal vs bbournemouth aboard. That experience is one in a lifetime. Good food ,hostess were no nice. Got to Jfk around 8:45 USA time. Then went straight to port of entry line. Poe: hello. Why are you here. Me: for my studies Poe: lemme have ur i20 and admission letter. (Hands it. She checks) Okay. Have it. Where are you going to be staying now. It’s almost Xmas. Me: I have a friend in New York. Poe: ok. Stamps passport. Welcome to the United States Then I went to claim my bag and my guy was waiting already. Mehn the way I felt at that moment I saw him has no name. That feeling is nameless. But one mad brezz first blow me as I stepped out. I was like yes. This is USA. It was so cold. 2 degrees. This country is so beautiful. Then you start to wonder what’s wrong with Nigeria. Funniest part is that. Our leaders come here and they see how things are done, yet they still act like bunch of fools. It’s so annoying. I hope Nigeria will be better someday. But it is better to be praying for Nigeria from another county 2019 fall I want to share my travel transcript as well Olowogbogboro help me. Congrat bro |

I have gotten my Visa and ewill be living Nigeria by December. My school is at South Dakota and will want to book my flight to chicago then take a 10hour bus to South Dakota because the flight to South Dakota is quite expensive. My question is that, hope I wont encounter any problem with the immigration officers in the USA? Sorry to say you are such a selfish fellow You took from these thread before going for your Visa interview and you refuse to give back inform of transcript and you are here again asking for point of entry question. At least let's be appreciative |

fairheart : To answer your questions: 1: You don't need to go to the interview with your academic transcript. If the embassy need it at all, they will ask you to send it to them. So, no worries. Your certificate will do, and I am sure they won't even check that, too. 2: She is your aunt, not your Mom or Dad. So why adding her? Were you part of the lottery she won? Adding her doesn't add any chance; it might even dent it. Mind your own business! 3: N19M. is cool. You should not worry about this as you should whether or not you've prepared well enough. 4: Your IELTS test score is cool. 7-band is fine. Goodluck on your interview. As for me I will urgently him not to go with the IELTS at all as it is not the academic exam These might sound an immigrant intent to the V.O Because he said his IELTS is the working exam and not academic |

One of the the schools I applied to for Fall 2019 admission converted my 3.79/5 Nigeria CGPA to 2.768/4. Using their internal evaluation. I guess these is too low and people who got below my Nigeria CGPA are always above 3.0/4 when converted by Wes or other schools internal evaluations. Please what might be the causes of the low outcome |

fairheart: Better be focus on what you're doing, or else, you will find yourself taking one step forward and two backward. Stay committed; think about it every day, and don't give up when challenges arise or attempt to discourage you. Those of you aspiring to study abroad, or just need the student visa to escape the calamity that has befallen Nigeria, define your purpose. Define it and make it your dream.
I just thought I'd share this piece of advise. I am free again and will be able to help with a few issues before I dsappear again. If you have questions, ask! If you are unsure, seek advise from those more experienced. If you can't put your thoughts together to write a scholarship- and GTA-winning essay and statement of purpose, contact me. This is my world!
Goodluck to you all! Sent you a pm |

Rytefish: I already got my i20 for University of New Haven, Spring 2019. We should work together. I was about chastising you for the question *How did you know about the school?*when I got to know that you got admitted to University of New Haven too.
1. You didn't mention the school you are going to.
2. Your response to "How did you hear about the school?" started with a weak line.
What if you rephrase, I heard about it while reading one of Prof Don Morel's research Paper on Photovoltaic Solar energy system. I contacted the Prof to show my interest in his work and he advised that I should officially apply to the university.
3. I don't think you will be asked how many schools you considered, it could only be "How many schools did you apply to?" Then outrightly mention the names of the schools, ensure you mention fully, unlike you did here, using abbreviations.
4. Did you really mean "How are the schools related?" or you wanted to say "What do they have in common?" If the answer is the common relationship between the schools, the mention of having potential supervisors in all the schools does not sound well, to me though, ain't a VO. You may think of a program or research common to all.
5. Why did you choose the school over others? If your second point is real, it's welcome, but that first point needs to be rephrased and brief, as no VO will wait for you to say all what you have there without cutting in as usual. Be brief with the first point, then mention number 2.
6. USA might be the best country to study Engineering, but that might not sound convincing to a VO, if your school is not a top ranking school.
What if you start with "Universities in the US are the only universities that look holistically into my transcript rather than the title of my degree as I had to evaluate my HND with the world education services before I was considered for an admission. But wait, evaluating your result has nothing to do with why you choose a school over others.
Please, don't mention the fact that you were rejected from schools in other countries.
7. What will this degree do for you? It could be disastrous to say you will be applying to jobs in the Ministry of Power where you can present your ideas. There is a better way of presenting the same statement but more convincing.
Then, find a better way of involving your dad's company at the second point, you can do better, please.
I wish you success.. Please I also got admit from University of New Haven but for Fall 2019 Where you asked to pay deposit before your I-20 was sent. And did you pay for the shipping of your I-20 to Nigeria |
