My best moment on nairaland was the day my thread which I tittled "Go And Die; Governor Oshiomole Tells A Widow" made front page. I was very happy because it was my first post on nairaland and uptill now, the phrase" go and die" has been hijacked by a lot of nairalanders who don't even know how it came about! My worst moment was the day I was first to comment and mukina2 banned me because I asked how does a particular thread calls off ASUU strike |

Turkey’s sports minister lashed out on Monday at moves by the football authorities to punish two top Ivorian club players for paying homage to Nelson Mandela. Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboue have been threatened with disciplinary action by the Turkish Football Federation for violating a ban on wearing political slogans on T-shirts – triggering outrage on Twitter. Turkish Sports Minister Suat Kilic called on the federation to review its decision against the two star players with Istanbul giant Galatasaray. Eboue and Drogba “I don’t find it a healthy choice in terms of Turkey’s image abroad and the two footballers’ (freedom of) expression,” he said. Drogba removed his club shirt after a match Friday against SB Elazigspor to reveal a T-shirt that read “Thank You Madiba”, using Mandela’s clan name. Teammate Eboue also honoured the South African anti-apartheid hero who died on Thursday with a T-shirt that said “Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela”. The federation defended its decision to summon the two players, saying they had not sought permission for their action. But the move caused fury among scores of Twitter users, with some accusing the body of “fascism”. “There’s a minute of silence for Mandela before a match in Britain but in Turkey, there are fines,” said one tweet signed by Erce Sahin. Another Twitter user with the handle Hevallo, said: “TURKISH FASCISM in FOOTBALL like everywhere in Turkey!” The minister also blasted a federation decision last week to initiate disciplinary procedures against a Turkish club whose footballers wore T-shirts paying homage to the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Mandela: I’ll do it again — Drogba Drogba has responded to threats by the Turkish FA to sanction him and his compatriot over their tributes to Mandela by posting a picture montage on Instagram including a photo of his own meeting with the former South Africa president. “I’d be very interested to see your comments on this…but I’m sorry if I had to I would do it again and again. Not because of political beliefs but because this man inspired me, a country, a continent, Source; vanguard newpaper |
Xtiansun: Good piece, but the landlord lost d case because d eviction was not done in d presence of d tenant. He should have used d police to carry out d eviction and in the presence of the tenant. Many tenants disdays are just troublesome.my brother, legally speaking, the police cannot help a landlord eject his tenant except court order is obtained! If the police does so,it is illegal because the police belong to the executive arm of government and cannot usurp the powers of the judiciary! |
He will still win at the supreme court! |
And that lecturer(godspower) is a very nice man! I remember him setting a very simple exam for us to pass In first semester! Everyone was thinking it was going to be theory but he gave us objective to answer and trust law students na! We demolished the questions! This was a computer science course that was dreaded by law students! And for those of you who are making noise that law students don't have any bussiness with computer science courses only shows that you guyz are still struggling to pass jamb because even 300L law students do offer the course! |
2015: Atiku’s Posters flood Abuja on december 09, 2013 at 1:46 am in news By Henry Umoru ABUJA- AHEAD of 2015 Presidential election, posters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar yesterday Sunday appeared on the streets of the nation’s capital city, Abuja. The glossy posters were seen on walls of major overhead and pedestrian bridges as well as walls by the road sides especially along the Umaru Yar’Adua way, the road leading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport road, Abuja. Though there were no parties attached to the posters, but they were sponsored by the Turaki Network of Change, (TNC) with inscription, “inspired by Change, Turaki Network for Change, TNC Atiku Abubakar GCON ( Turaki Adamawa) Bigger Challenges Greater Opportunities.” Atiku who has not formally declared interest to run for the 2015 Presidential election against President Goodluck Jonathan, is presently a member of the iNational Executive Committee, NEC of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. It will be recalled that in August 31 at the Special National Convention of PDP, Atiku and six northern governors stormed out of Eagle square, venue of the convention to later address Journalists at the Yar’Adua Centre where the defunct new PDP with Alhaji Abubakar Baraje as Chairman, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as Secretary and Sam Sam Jaja as Deputy National Chairman. Also recently, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC registered a group, Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM as a political party. The group was formed by Atiku, chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT of PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, Alhaji Shaibu Oyedokun, Mrs Titi Ajanaku, among others not as a party, but a pressure group. Following the registration of PDM as a political party, the former Vice President however threw his weight behind it, but never showed himself as a member. It will also be recalled that in December, 2006, Atiku Abubakar emerged as the Presidential candidate of Action congress, AC. He also vied for the presidential ticket of PDP in 2011, but he was defeated by President Goodluck Jonathan at Eagle Square. Out of total votes cast of 3542 according to the returning officer, Professor Tunde Adeniran, Jonathan scored 2736 representing 78% of the total votes while Atiku Abubakar polled 805 votes and the present Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values, Mrs Sarah Jubril scored only one vote.
