What features do your office mates want to see more than anything else? If it is the UI, what are your colleagues looking for exactly? Thanks. |

Dear Nairalanders, For years, people have been alleging that Nairaland is a toxic place where people insult each other and exhibit uncontrolled tribal bigotry. So after my last thread, we decided to follow through by extending the mandate of our anti-spam bot to include dealing with toxicity. Unfortunately, the roll out wasn't smooth: many innocent members were unjustly banned. We apologize profusely for this. We will keep tweaking the bot to make it more accurate. Meanwhile, please reach out to the mods and supermods if you are unjustly banned. Hit me with your suggestions and complaints. |
Truths9ja:What was the reason for the ban? |
Ajibade123:We have ramped up the aggressiveness of the anti-spam bot and broadened its mandate. It will in addition to looking out for spam, also look out for violations of rule 1, 2, 3 and other important rules. |
Is it accurate to say that more aggressive moderation of toxic posts that are insulting, rude, off topic, ethnically prejudiced, etc) is the most important first step that we need to take to make Nairaland better? Like this post if you agree. |
Hello Guys, I'm throwing this question to you because it's very important. Every time I ask, "how is Nairaland?" I'm told that it is fine. If I ask what are the challenges I'm told there are none. So I need to talk to you guys directly about what you think is going on and what you want us to do. I have not had the confidence to make major changes on Nairaland. I have a little confidence now because of AI. What are your complaints, your challenges, your issues. What are the things that can drive people away and need to be nipped? Speak your mind, but don't be rude. Thanks. |

I had a long phone chat with an old friend of mine who I previously had a public falling out with. We agreed to disagree about religion and family life, and promised each other not to allow our differences of opinion to be a stumbling block to our friendship anymore. We also committed to doing business together. I will buy a beautiful duplex from his company and consult them when I need to travel. He will buy 7.5% of Nairaland at a very attractive valuation and become a director of our company so that we can benefit from his vast experience. It feels so good to be on good terms again! I urge you to follow our example if you're currently not on good terms with any old friend. |

Everyone is unique and has their way of doing things. However, in marriage; where two become one flesh, reaching a mutual consensus is essential to maximizing these individual differences for marital success. He is probably diabetic. It makes it difficult for wounds to heal. He needs to go to the hospital immediately or he will lose the foot. He should also be on antibiotics and aggressive diabetic drugs. Rush this man to a hospital if you don't want to pay for his wheelchair. |

Imagine if the Holy books could be updated? Like removing offensive verses that don't represent your religion anymore. For Christianity things like "(a woman) must be silent" and "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks" could be removed. Before the printing press, religious books were copied by hand. The scribes took liberties with the text all the time, often at the behest of their benefactors. That's why in the NIV bible you'll see footnotes showing that there are multiple versions of a bible verse. Some entire Bible passages were added by creative scribes. The one where Jesus saves a woman caught in adultery is an example. It's such a good story right? This shows that altering scriptural texts can be beneficial. That fabulous story has definitely saved many lives. So why can't we improve our Holy Books? 😃 |
100%? The Starlink Roaming tariff went from 49k/month to N167k/month. That is more than 200% |
The specs of light in the photos are from the oil in Eucalyptus trees. They could easily end the wildfires by replacing the trees, which are highly flammable because of the volatile oil that permeates them, but they don't. The Australians are in exactly the same situation. It's utter madness that California and Australia keep fighting the oil fueled fires every year and risking lives instead of just getting rid of the accursed trees. |
