Nairaland does not agree with the fetish views that people have about waist beads. This story was featured by my staff for mockery.. This is not true.Do not harass or think bad of women with waist beads under any circumstances, please.
PrayWills: As we speak she has moved back to her mom’s house with the two kids, what do I do
I strongly recommend having a DNA test conducted for the children before going any further. If they aren't yours, you're completely free. For now, you need to ignore her until she comes to beg you to take her back, or to bill you, then you'll insist on the DNA test as the condition.
Consensus means decisions will require the agreement of everybody. Clearly it's easier for two people to come to agreement than for 100 people to come to agreement on an issue.
crackhaus: This logic does not work in any life situation.
Na recipe for disaster.
It's called consensus decision making. It breaks down in large groups, but it works if the group is small. A marriage consisting of a man and a woman is small enough for consensus decision making to work as long as each party is reasonable and wants the other party to also succeed. For the sake of harmony, the husband's wishes take priority in some areas and the wife's wishes take priority in other areas.
The truth is, marriage isn’t always bed of roses. In one moment, you are basking in joy; in the next, you are faced with issues that could undermine your marital journey. From making financial decisions to waiting on God, or thrashing out issues like infidelity, poor communication, and sexual related matters. Couples, when not careful, might find themselves at a crossroads that could tear them apart.
Mark your calendars and join us this Sunday as we navigate some common crossroads in marriage.
"The husband is the head of his family. He should strive to be wiser, smarter, & wealthier than his wife. But in any case, a wife must defer to her husband's authority as her leader. He should listen to her, but after he listens, she must accept his decisions. He's in charge."
This is the traditional and religious view of marriage. Do you agree with it? I subscribe to the modern view but I worry about its practicality.
My view is that every couple has a different dynamic and their families should be ruled by consensus, but the partner who is more competent in a particular area should be deferred to more often when dealing with issues in that area. If the wife is an accountant, she'll control finances.
And here is my take for the week entitled: "Who Will Tell the President?" - Mr Laolu Akande.
There are things that the public are interested in but seem not to be getting the due attention of the president. At least, there is no communication about these things. For instance, the restoration of the social investment programme. Over a month ago, it was announced that it will resume urgently, even as an emergency. It is now April, and this has not been restored.
Who will tell the president? Specifically, in February, the coordinating minister of the economy, Mr. Edun, said restarting the direct cash transfer was crucial to tackling food prices, especially elevated prices, and also, government's ability that it will help government's ability to provide purchasing power to at least 60 million people who are less well off. Has this been done?
Who will tell the president that the investigation of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Beta Edu, is taking too long? How long will it take for a decision to be taken on the report of the EFCC, and how long will it take to have a substantive minister named back to that ministry, or has the president approved the idea to move some of the programmes to the Ministry of Finance?
Who will tell the president that the emergency economic intervention bill is still lying fallow on someone's desk somewhere? This is a bill that attempts to codify some of the tax reform proposals from the Presidential Tax Reform Committee alongside other urgent economic measures. When is that bill going to be sent to the National Assembly? Members of the National Assembly are saying that they've had no movement on this bill since November. Who will tell the president this?
Who will tell the president that now that the CBN is able to get the naira to some stability, it's time to tax luxury items that are being imported and cut off our heavy importation so that we can save the naira, so that we can spend less foreign exchange? India did a similar thing when Mahatma Gandhi said, and I quote, "If India cannot feed herself, let India starve. If India cannot clothe herself, let India go naked". It was at the time when India was facing such a crisis as we are facing now in Nigeria; tough times demand tough decisions.
Who will tell the president that instead of an investigation into an allegation of smuggling by known people that has been reported by journalists, especially the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, what we see is an attempt to criminalise journalism. Instead of our authorities to investigate such allegations that are already reported publicly, what we are being told is that there are petitions against the journalists.
Who will tell the president that the attempts to intimidate the press is not in Nigeria's best interests and that it creates a poor reflection on the president that we all know is a true democrat? If the smuggling allegations that Soyombo has reported are inaccurate and false, the government should tell us. Going after him and the board of FIJ is not the way to go.
Who will tell the president that all of these are happening under his watch and that it does have implications for his legacy? One day, four years, eight years maximum, he will be a former president. What is going to be said about attempts by people under him to intimidate journalists?
Who will tell the president that for months since Nigeria has withdrawn ambassadors from our embassies abroad, their replacements have not been announced? And now our embassies are operating below capacity without substantive envoys.
Who will tell the president that in diplomacy, in the world of diplomacy, the place of a properly accredited ambassador cannot be compared to anyone below him acting in that capacity? Who will tell the president that this is not in the best interest of Nigeria's foreign policy?
These are some of the issues that we hope that somebody who has the president's ear will bring to his attention. At the end of the day, it is about what the president does and what he does not do, and then I have my take for the week.
SQLmastar: The only question I have: why did Pst Anita and Chris get divorced? Why couldn't they settle their differences? I mean, several people looked up to them!
They are just ordinary human beings like the rest of us. And I do believe the adultery accusations. Remember, "a Christian cannot sin"
Some of you haven't spoken in tongues yet. Even though everybody is speaking in tongues around you, you still don't speak in tongues. Why because you are saying to yourself "I don't want to force anything. If God is going to give me his special tongues he will give me." (laughter)
You believe that somehow when God is ready the real tongues will come.
And there are some of you, you used to speak in tongues until you were deceived by Satan that the tongues you were speaking were made up by yourself. So you stopped. Now you pray with your mounth open hoping somehow... (laughter). Nothing is coming out. You're thinking "I don't want to fake it".
Fake It? Why didn't you fake it before you were born again? (the crowd pauses for a moment and then erupts)
Yankee101: @seun, your advert on top of the home page is intrusive We want you to make advert money but not at the expense of quality Abeg address that. You can put all at the bottom. Don’t forget some of these adverts are phishing scams
That was Google's doing o. They were conducting an experiment by showing that page to 50% of you. Let's get back to the topic anyway.
Joy2dworldxyz: I have actually been in a pastor Adeboye's program where someone on wheel chair was healed.... Men, that day I say God's rugged powerlive!!
You are assuming that the person in the wheelchair could not walk at all before he got into the wheelchair.
Elzazzi: Seun stop talking on what you know nothing about.
This woman was "healed" by Pastor Chris. She was among the people who rose up from their wheelchairs & were "healed". This is her celebration of "healing." Do you see what's happening or do I have to spell it out?
Update: She wasn't among the people in wheelchairs. After the healing of the people in stretchers, they brought people in wheelchairs and many people standing up to the stage. Pastor Chris declared that they are all healed and they started celebrating on the stage. 🤦♂️
Gerrard59: Whenever you see such accounts, take it as one of the accounts Seun created to stir up topics. When Nairaland was young, dude most likely created hundreds of accounts which would be used to create topics aimed at stirring a discussion - thus generating web traffic.
I never felt the need to use alt accounts to stir discussions, so I never did. This is a false speculation.
