Cars RECOVERED from the armed robbers OR cars ABANDONED BY the armed robbers!! dainformant: The death toll from Thursday’s robbery attack in Offa town in Kwara State has risen to at least 30. About 30 robbers had hit the town, raiding five commercial banks along the Owode Market Area of the town in Offa Local Government Area of the state.
The attack which lasted for hours had left the banks damaged with many feared killed and many more injured. The armed robbers were said to have made away with several millions of naira from the banks, leaving behind a tale of sorrow, tears and blood.
Initial reports had put the death toll at between 12 and 15, but the figure has risen significantly.
Nine police officers were among those killed in the attack while there are fears that the death toll may rise as some of the assailants were said to have attacked the police station in the area.
It was gathered that the gunmen arrived the town in seven vehicles and stationed themselves in each of the banks around 4:30 pm and held the town hostage before escaping through Igosun route in the area whey they allegedly abandoned the cars as seen in the pictures... The vehicles have been recovered at taken to the police station in the area..
Some residents in the area described the robbery as bloody and called for more security presence in the town, saying the incident has become an affair of every five years.

It is indeed a good decision your dad is making. Not just advising you to go for your Masters programme but choosing Canada. Canada would definitely give you the opportunity to get work experience after your studies and you could get an employer that might want to retain you during and after the work experience. TD4real: Dear nairalanders, plz i need advice from experienced minds. I am 28 years old and have been workin in a Bank for three years ( i am fairly confortable ). But i have been under pressure by my dad to advance my studies abroad.
The issue here is that it feels i will be starting life all over again, after the MSC then what ? Come back ? Job search again?? I also have a girl friend i have been committed to and we both have been planning to settle down next yr.
I am so confused and i cant plan my future any longer. Some people have adviced that living abroad is always better than nigeria while others have said , if you are ok here why move.
Plz career experts and experinced ones should plz advice me putting into consideration my relationship commitments too. |

This is absolutely wrong, it is not about whether he has confidence in himself or not, it is about doing what is appropriate. References should be after you have been employed by the new employer and not before. I am presently in the same situation (though in the UK), although I have scaled through the interview process and have been verbally told I passed but because I have signed a contract of employment I told the new company not to contact my current employer for reference and they understood. Abduljohn: I understand your fear but its still boils down to the relationship between you and your present boss. In my case my boss actually wishes us well and encourage us to exploit the environment. If you have confidence in yourself I advise allow them am sure it ll even add to chance. |

Hi all, Fencing completed. Would anyone please recommend a very good and competent consultant? I need to start constructing but I was told by a friend that I need to lay emphasis on sun-rise and sun-set points. I am trying to get it right from the start. Over to you good nairalanders...... seun70: Hi all, I have finally decided to embark on this poultry farming business after reading/watching/researching for about two years.
I would not mind any suggestion from the experienced poultry farmers on nairaland. Although, I have three plots of land (just bought somewhere in Otta) I intend to use. This does not mean I am a fan of 'hot-water' syndrome. I only intend to start with 1000 layers. Clearing of the site was done today and construction of the fence would (by God's grace) commence tomorrow.
Suggestions, suggestions, suggestions would be appreciated.
NOTE: I am spending 1.5m on fencing.
Thanks in advance guys........ |

debosky: 12,000 pounds for 1 wristwatch??
na wa oh! anyways, fingers no dey equal Debosky, true talk, fingers are not equal (I am not joking though), I do not need to convince anyone of the truth in buying a wristwatch for £12K I am neither a rogue nor a fraudster. , Work hard, and with God on your side, 12k on a wristwatch is not a big deal. babyosisi: don't mind all these liars on nairaland. Some can't even pick out a dime from a pack of coins and they'll come here boasting of buying heaven and earth. I have been working for years and know that no sane middle income wage earner would buy a common wristwatch for that many thousands. The person is either a multimillionaire by inheritance or a rogue.
People who work hard for money don't do stupid things with it Babyosisi, I have kinda been reading your threads on Nairaland, I really have that heart for your contributions but on this one, you are a bit shallow-minded. What is 12k on a wristwatch for someone with an income of £700 / day? With a total credit-card limit of £65k , Though, I did make use of the word -impulse buying-, might be you skipped that. Anyway, not everyone would come to a site like this and lie, Just thought I should contribute after a long time, |

Hey y'all
Not a moment I would want to remember,
My MBNA card got increased to £25k limit, got carried away, straight to 'Bluwater' on a 'supposed to be' window shopping trip, got carried away on sighting a nice rolex watch, went into the store, tried it on, checked to see if my card was still in my wallet (A BIG YES), got myself the nice 'Rolex watch' for £12k.
, starved myself of some better stuffs for 16months before I could pay back.
And when I did, quickly called MBNA to reduce the flipping credit limit,
Still enjoying the watch though,
Promise myself never to be an impulse buyer anymore. |

Hi all, This is a very nice thread, one that i would always be interest in. Everyone made meaningful contributions though, but: @Seun (admin) - I understand where you are coming from and the way you kinda swallow the criticism of other contributors. Although I support them - to an extent -. Nigeria is not a place where you would wanna share your business idea in a forum like this. But I beleive part of the 'business plan (if there is one) should be 'how to deal with competitors'. If one is scared of his/her idea being copied 'NOW', what about when the business is up and running, how would one be sure it won't be copied? I enjoy competition a lot though, therefore, i am not really bothered. The more you are able to withstand the pressure from your competitors, make good use of 'Porter's Five Forces' of marketing and the 'Marketing Mix', then you need not worry if someone either steals or copied your idea. @abutex abutex: My business idea is great and it something that can guarantee atleast 35% to 70% of the startup capital monthly, that's over 1100% return on investment(ROI) yearly.Well, the business is all about openning a MEGA CYBER CAFE' AND ISP SERVICE in My city. Cyber cafe' is unarguably one of the regular money making business in the country. With an average of just 20 computers, cafes have the potential to make N1.44million monthly in Nigeria. That excludes revenue from other sources of income available to a cafe' business. However, due to continous low bandwidth, snail browsing speeds, high cost of VAST equipment, the cost of starting and running profifable cyber cafe' has gone up,causing the profit to nose dive too-as most customers can't browse for long because the servers are always slow. According to GSMNEWS research, good sat equipment cost as much as $2,399 while an average cost as much as $1,500.Most cafe' cannot afford it,so they use cheap Vsat that cost just $500 or $750 while they also pay cheap bandwidth fee which are the reasons for the slow browsing experienced around the country. But i have found a new way to run my own cyber cafe' business at a low fee of N12,000 monthly plus fast internet browsing. With the new Gsm internet sim card,i can set up a profitable, cost effective cyber cafe' business for unlimited high speed browsing hours here in Nigeria. It does not only give you fast internet browsing experience,it is cost effective, and can be used to create chains of cyber cafe' business thereby earning multiple income that runs into double digit millions. One of The Gsm internet sim card can be shared with up-to 20 computers bringing your N400 cost on each computer a day to as low as N20,without dropping your browsing speed. So with this i can become a service provider (isp) to other organizations around me. Most important thing about this business is that i have found a very good location for it and i have also made some enquiries from other cyber cafe' operators in my area and i think i know how to make my own mark in the business. I believe if i can find a good business minded individual like myself, the sky will not only be our limit but we will own it.So if you are interested in owning your own mega cyber cafe' that other cafe' operators will envy, hola me a call or email deluxe4life2003@yahoo.com ,thanks and see you over the top!

Properties › Re: Real Estate In Nigeria: What Is It Like? by seun70(m): 8:46am On May 11, 2007 |
layi: In fact, it's the best you can think of. Real estate is HOT in Nigeria. If you can catch in on the V/I-lekki axis, you are made. The entry level is high though because a plot of land in VGC cost on d average N6 Million and lots of peeps are looking for it. You can buy for 6M and sell for 10M. U need your links anyway because those who own properties there arent all that willing to sell. They are other prime areas like garki in the FCT.
I just found out that u could make up to N270,000 monthly (by investing N8Mill in a landed property in the heart of the comp villa. All you need do is buy a big house on 3 plots, demolish it and turn the place to a parking space charging drivers 150 naira per day (currently 200N and there is a very high demand for parking space within the villa). Hi @layi, I am really interested in the car park business. When you said 'comp villa', where are you talking about? The car park business is what i have been looking into all this while. Kindly feed me with what you know and think about this business. Thanks |
