Technology Market / Covid-19: Kasu Adopts Virtual Learning Approach by Seuncoded(f): 9:02am On Jun 04, 2020
The Kaduna State University (KASU) has adopted a virtual learning approach to ensure academic activities are not disrupted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

Google Classroom is the official platform for all lectures and not Zoom. However, the Broadcast message circulating yesterday about a Simulation Class to take place today via Zoom was organized by a Students’ Association in KASU to help students familiarize themselves with the new development – Online Lectures.

It is just like a training/tutorial session to show students how to navigate through the Google Classroom Platform, possible challenges to experience, and what to do if such occurs.

Through the Zoom platform, hundreds of students can join the meeting, visual and Audio features would also be available for easy understanding

Career / What Prominent Achievement Did You Make In 2016? Share With Us by Seuncoded(f): 10:38am On Dec 31, 2016
If I may ask, what will you remember 2016 for? What prominent achievement/progress did you make in 2016?

How did 2016 really change your life positively? What were your unforgettable moments in 2016?

Nairaland / General / How to Get Employed Immediately You Graduate From the University by Seuncoded(f): 2:58pm On Dec 26, 2016
How to Get Employed Immediately You Graduate From the University Even In a Dwindling Economy.
Do you want to get employed immediately you graduate from the university?
Then you have to bookmark this article and come back to it over and over again. This is because today, I will be sharing with you tips that can get you employed even in a dwindling economy.
According to the statistics, the Nigeria unemployment rate rose to almost 14% in 2016. Going through history, you will find out that the unemployment rate has never reduced. Infact in 2013, it was a mere 10.5% and has continued to increase.
Yet as someone who works in the recruitment industry for years now, people get employed every single day. Sometimes in a month, we place over a 100 job seeker with companies from different industries.
So what seems to be the problem?
So the problem really is not that there is no job but from our experience, the problem is that there is a disconnect between the job seekers and the employers.
For those already, in the labour market, you may be able to learn a thing or two but my concern today is for those who are just about to graduate.
How do you begin to properly position yourself in such a way that once you graduate, you will get a job immediately?
Tip 1: Choose a career
One of the problems I see young graduate making is that they think of life in terms of getting a job and not a career. Unfortunately most people who are successful focus on building their career and not getting a job.

Career / Re: How To Tell Your Boss You Disagree by Seuncoded(f): 8:59am On Nov 16, 2016
AyoyinkaOlutuyi:
Virtually every workplace has a variety of personalities, work styles and cultures, so disagreements are inevitable.

Disagreeing with your boss might not happen often, but when you feel the need to voice your opinion about an issue, it’s always wise to do it respectfully.

Depending on the working relationship you have with your boss, you might use an informal approach to express your disagreement.

However, no matter how comfortable your relationship is with your boss, it’s still up to you to remain respectful.

Ask for a private meeting with your boss to discuss the issues on which you disagree

Refrain from publicly disagreeing with your boss if the issue involves a personal matter, such as an employment decision. When you vehemently disagree with your boss, a private sit-down is the best way to resolve things. For example, if you disagree with your boss about her decision to give you a written warning about poor attendance, discuss it in a private setting and not during a staff meeting or when other employees are present.

State the topic on which you disagree and explain your position in an articulate and reserved manner

Even if the matter you can’t agree on is one that you’re passionate about, avoid showing emotions. Refrain from using inflammatory or accusatory language. Whenever possible or appropriate, provide solutions to resolving the disagreement — don’t just complain for the sake of complaining. For example, if you disagree with your boss about a work process, explain what you think is wrong with the process he’s developed. Then offer suggestions for improving the process, and provide concrete and rational reasons why you think your method may be better.

Enlist the support of your co-workers when the issue you disagree on affects the department or your team

Ask your boss for a meeting during which you and your co-workers can discuss the matter in a forum that will allow for candid feedback and employee input. Tell your boss ahead of time that you will be joined by other employees so she won’t be blindsided by a group of employees who collectively disagree with her.

Encourage your boss to give you feedback during the conversation

A productive conversation isn’t one-sided; you need two-way feedback to resolve issues in the workplace. Choose your words carefully, but be honest about why you disagree with your boss and keep your tone and demeanor non-confrontational to make your point more effectively. Organize your thoughts so you can convey your message in a way that firmly states your position or convinces your boss that your disagreement is based on improving the workplace.
