The Secretary General of Association of Vice-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities, Michael Faborede has appealed to the Federal Government to allow the senate of the different tertiary institution in the country to prescribe modalities for admission.

He made this call during the 4th Biennial Conference on the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities in Nigeria held at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

According to him, the federal government should be careful in making pronouncements on educational matters that would affect the states and private universities.

He further called on the pro-chancellors to support vice-chancellors in their effort towards building a credible university system

According to the school, "Payment for the Screening Exercise has been suspended till further notice".

In Nigeria, every year fresh graduates travel across the nation to different states in a scheme called National Youth Service Corps popularly called NYSC.

The NYSC scheme was an initiative of the Yakubu Gowon military regime in 1973 to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war.

While many Nigerians have called on successive governments to scrap the scheme as they say it has outlived its usefulness, many others have asked that the scheme should be retained.

After three weeks in the camps where they are taken through rigorous physical routine, the corp members are then posted to a place of primary assignment.

Apart from the uniform salary paid to youth corp members nationwide, state governments where the NYSC members are posted also give them some allowances.

In some states, the prices of the NYSC members differ based on their course of study, with medical corp members usually favoured.

We lists the allowances of NYSC members in 26 states across the federation.

1.Birth Certificate
Birth certificate is one of the document required by the scholarship schemes, the scheme demand that applicants submit their birth certificates. And where birth certificate is not available, age declaration can also be used.

2.School ID Card
School ID is one credential almost all the undergraduate scholarships require from students but unfortunately, most schools don’t issue the school ID on time and as a result, many students are denied the opportunity of applying for these scholarships.

3.Local Government of Origin Identification
Almost all undergraduate scholarships request the Certificate of Local Government of Origin from the applicants. This is very important when it comes to scholarships that are location based for example, Area of Operation scholarship award for some oil companies. Since such scholarship favours students from the operational area, students from non oil producing students look for ways to claim they are from the operational area and to tackle this, the Local government of origin identification is a requirement .

4.JAMB Result:
Obviously any one who gained admission into the university must have gone through the scrutiny of Jamb Admission and Matriculation board scoring at least 180 and above. Many Nigerian scholarships schemes ask for JAMB result for application. Some scholarship demand JAMB score of 60% and above of JAMB total score.
But we advise students to enroll for any scholarship they are eligible for so long as such student passed JAMB and meet all other requirements.

5.O’level Result:
Virtually all scholarships demand O’level result for their application. The O’level results include WASSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB.

Although all these belong to O’level, some scholarship schemes demand that the O’level result must be WASSCE or any of the above mentioned in one sitting.

Scholarships like Mobil demand 5 A1 while Federal Government Bilateral Scholarship demand 5 Distinctions in relevant courses including English and Mathematics.

6.Admission Letter: If you must win an undergraduate scholarship, you must show an evidence that you have been admitted into the institution and course of study you claim.

The Admission letter can either be from JAMB or from your school. Although sometimes, some scholarships specify the actual admission letter they require.

1. Passport: Most often the company in-charge of screening scholarship applicants give size, color and age of the passport required for the scholarships application.

This is to inform Candidates who made Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife their first choice in the 2016 UTME/DE and scored 200 and above are hereby inform to log on to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife website (www.oauife.edu.ng) or eportal.oauife.edu.ng for their admission screening.

Candidates are required to log on to University eportal and click on 2016 ADMISSION SCREENING-UTME/DE APPLICANTS using their JAMB Registration Numbers to download RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) and use it to pay for Eportal Access Charge on Remita platform which accepts cash payment via bank or master card.
Candidates can access the University eportal anywhere to effect payment in any branch of Banks.

Candidates who are awaiting results are also eligible to apply for the screening. Only awaiting result candidates who applied within the specified period will be allowed to upload their results when they are released. Thereafter, candidates will be required to do the following on the EPORTAL after payment has been confirmed by Remita on the EPORTAL:

1. Update JAMB data
2. Upload SSCE result (WAEC or NECO)
3. Scan copy of certificate/online WAEC or NECO result (Statement of result from schools not allowed)
4. Upload picture (if not available)
5. Print Admission Screening Report Closing Date for screening of UTME candidate is 15th July, 2016 while the Closing date for screening of Direct Entry is 30th July, 2016.
Candidates are required to bring copies of the Admission Screening Report on resumption if admitted.

This exercise do not require physical presence of candidates on OAU campus.
