dhtml18 must be laughing his ass off somewhere now. . . .that his challenger cannot understand such a simple script?
Do you want to challenge me ni??
Cos you are one point ahead. lol.

So you are saying that all the gaddamn browsers are dysfunctional before this thing runs in all tested browsers.

This dude, you are a real talker. . . . .
Well you win that javascript one na. So take am easy dont over rub it in. The java version is however very wrong sha. I stand to be corrected.

guy, you're a clown. Can u reason bf you fire for once?
How can a program run when it's not supposed to run. That's saying that there's a bug in the interpreter?
An interpreter used by millions of users worldwide! Take it easy, you are wrong. Period
My statement is not for someone like you. Anybody who has had to write several thousand lines of javascript code would understand what am saying. Anyway wont blame the browser makers, they dont expect people to create websites like that. And yes you are right, i was wrong on this one and apology to donjazy01 but i stand to be corrected on the java version sha.

LOOL! Does arguing and making starting "code battles" bring any financial gain? You guys are wasting your energy to some that brings no value.

Code to earn a living and help the world..Not starting useless code battles that doesn't bring any financial gain or usefulness to people!!
Life is not all about gain bro.

You shame yourself by calling yourself a progammer.
Let me upload the code for the whole world to see. www.cravings.com.ng/mouth.html
Now tell me that code does not run again? idiot.
You are right, it runs. I admit am wrong about that but i can assure its not supposed to run. Thats like a violation of the ecmascript if am right. but browser makers will do a lot of nonsense.
ProgrammingRe: The Greatest Programmer On Nairaland by seunthomas(op): 9:03pm On Feb 25, 2016
donjayzi:
That is where you are wrong, it runs smoothly without an error. So admit that you are wrong yet again, you are no javaScript master for sure.
Maybe you have read some w3schools stuff, or girraffed, but you are certainly no master as far as javaScript/JAVA is concerned.
So gerrout of here, and dont try to conn me, you have failed and the whole world can see that your statements about my codes are dead wrong.
OK ohhh. You say am wrong....
ProgrammingRe: The Greatest Programmer On Nairaland by seunthomas(op): 9:01pm On Feb 25, 2016
donjayzi:
But you are wrong, the javaScript i supplied does work as any decent javaScript programmer can confirm.
You just forked my code and rewrote it in another way, that is girraffing now. My friend, commoth for here. You have been given a real challenge and here you are talking total b.s.
It wont run. Are you now a liar. can you stake your reputation that the code would be fired without a body.onload or another event like click event
ProgrammingRe: The Greatest Programmer On Nairaland by seunthomas(op): 8:59pm On Feb 25, 2016
donjayzi:
Anyone that runs that javaScript version in the browser will know that it works. You just need to see it with your eyes, you dont even need a browser.
Ah, how you have fallen seunthomas? You are a real disgrace for someone that got phd programming since 1998. Even the foolish guru1 can run that javaScript and confirm that it is correct, this means he is even better than you in programming. Really shameful indeed.
Yes its lexically correct but would do nothing. And am sure you want it to do something
ProgrammingRe: The Greatest Programmer On Nairaland by seunthomas(op): 8:58pm On Feb 25, 2016
public static void stdOut(s) {
System.out.print(s);
}

for(int i=1;i<9;i++) {
stdOut('I just dey run my mouth, page '+i);
}
In java your stdOut should be called like this
stdOut("I just dey run my mouth, page "+i);
Take note of the double quotes cause java is very strict.

function stdOut(s) {document.write(s);}
for(i=1;i<9;i++) {
stdOut('I just dey run my mouth, page '+i);
}
And though this is lexically correct in javascript it wont run, because it needs an initializer dom body load event or or some other event that would trigger it

Seunthomas, that code will work in java with the correct function created.

even the javascript version is wrong. And it wont work in java.

You are a real master troll (one of the titles of dhtml18 which i now assign to you), since you have managed to run your mouth into 9 pages.
let me elighten you a little.
for(int i=1;i<9;i++) {
stdOut('I just dey run my mouth, page '+i);
}
mistakes
a. Assigning character quotes for string or char array in a c/java/c++/c# like language. I know the language is one of this languages because you have a built in type called int in your for loop.
b. within your your function you are rightly doing concatenation if the said language was java or c# the statement would work but i doubt its any of this languages cause of "a" above

ProgrammingRe: Solving Real Problems by seunthomas(op): 8:34pm On Feb 25, 2016
First question: Nairaland is a top forum/social media site in Nigeria. From time to time nairaland experiences downtime or database/server related issues. Profer solutions for how we can make nairaland more stable. Lets make the assumptions that the programmers at nairaland are near perfect and there is no bug in their code. The only challenge would be limited resources. Nairaland server is run on a single quadcore server with 16GB ram. They use hard drives instead of ssd. At peak periods nairaland experiences about 10-100k requests:
a. How can we ensure nairaland serves requests faster
b. what solution for faster database application response
c. any other cool idea to scale this site

You just want to create noise and not make music. I dont need an argument dude. If you want to learn you need to take a different stand. Starting a new thread that could possible teach somethings please try to stay away if you are coming for a free for all.

Something like that, get the drift?
There is no such thing as stdOut in any programming language except a user defined function. So much for the programmer in you..

@seunthomas
you are a hot air balloon. Every thread on this board is public so creating one invites the attention and response of all visitors. Saying some one intruded on your private rant with dhtml is sheer foolishness.

Lastly, your issue with dhtml was settled yesterday.
He conceded defeat to humour you and get you to shut up.

But you can't keep shut because you are an empty gong. You have to rattle.
As a professor of programming who bagged his phd in 1998, while we were still playing street soccer in the rain, you had to educate us that a while loop is recursive!
When corrected to hide your stinking putrid ego , you attack the correct er by telling them how foolish they were for not asking you what you really meant!
Next, to pump ur pride you start spoiling for a fight.

#You've been very immature. Childish.
Although i quite agree every thread is public ground but even in the public common sense is required or are you an animal of the lower kind??(Strongly think so)

If that was true, why did you do so many rants and derail the thread before dhtml18 joined the thread? So any bashing that you get is your own fault.
Well many people dont read the whole thread, they read the last few statements, make assumptions and start a fight(for whatever reason i dont know).

you just yap for yapping sake.
Dyu stop in your rant to think of what you say?
You challenge dhtml to a fight. Insult those who step in.
Spew technical crap, when busted, you resort to name calling and diversionary tactics.
You challenge opposers to a coding duel but now you're saying that you don't consider yourself to be the best bla bla.
You're bloated with the fart off pride. You say learn of me, what really is there in all your post to learn from? Tell me?
Even if some1 took up your challenge what code will you write in 1 hour that will showcase the breadth of your prowess?
Dyu really think?
If you had wits you should have entered the challenge first. The rules of this thread were clearly stated. @dhtml18 will provide a task and i would provide a solution and vice versa. The only input from others was to review what each of us wrote down and make comments. But because people like you go around looking for fight were they are not called, the thread degenerated into a free for all and thus missed the entire process in which it was meant for learning and not controversy. Well i congratulate for becoming an agent of backwardness.

Your penultimate sentence was pinched and rephrased from Wikipedia. Here it is

Gates's role at Microsoft for most of its history was primarily a management and executive role. However, he was an active software developer in the early years, particularly on the company's programming language products. He has not officially been on a development team since working on the TRS-80 Model 100,[63] but wrote code as late as 1989 that shipped in the company's products.[61]

Points of note:
He was an active software developer in the early years. This means he actively took part in developing Windows as Windows was developed in the early years of Microsoft Corporation.

... but wrote code as late as 1989 that shipped in the company's products. So as late as 89 he was still coding.

Bottom line, he partook in actually coding Windows as opposed to your earlier allegation that he didn't.

So back to the point, I know of at least one software Bill Gates coded that is publicly available for critiques. Is there any software from you (Even if it's just a "Hello World" piece of code) that is publicly available for scrutiny? Cos you are the one that asked me if there's any project from Bill Gates available
irony of the matter is am not checking wikipedia. I already know this things by heart. Kind of the Holy grail of programmers. Shaking my head for you bro. I have not done anything no code at all self. Infact i dont know how to program. Someone who is destined to swallow the bitter pill will do it no matter the prevent mechanisms put in place. Enjoy your pill.

In the first five years, Gates personally reviewed every line of code the company shipped, and often rewrote parts of it as he saw fit.

Reference: Wikipedia.
Wikipedia is wrong(User generated content), no one can "personally review"(Dont believe everything you read on line) windows even from ms-dos. Thats millions of lines of code. Bill gate's role in microsoft as been more or less chief architect from the 80's. That means he just shapes the direction the company heads in.
