@asalimpo I assume you are young and possibly late teens/adulthood. I will speak to you as someone probably older and more experienced. If you will ever achieve anything of your miserable life, you need to listen more and talk less. I did that and right now i have more information that people like you and dhtml18(who by the way felt like he was the best programmer around). I have never clamoured to be the best or wisest programmer around(no yardstick if you get the drift). I just clamoured to be very good at what i do, and trust me I am very good at programming... So learn from me. But i know your type you wont learn, its a lost case. Shaking my head profusely.....

This thread was actually created to settle beef with @dhtml18. Anyone who wants their own programming challenge should please signify. I can create a seperate thread for that.

Every recursive function is theoretically a loop.

Any code written using recursion can be re-written using a native loop.

If you don't know these basics, you have no bases to critique a programmers code like you did.

Native=inbuilt, indigenous, came with it.

You can create a loop through recursion. You can create a loop as a library (I've created one bf).

As a native construct,it's highly optimized by the language designer.

loops are part of most languages. You cant(Dont know of how) you can create that. Its kind of default in programming. Me thinks you are just showing off ignorance

Ok, think of this typical scenerio. You work for a payment company, you just finished uploading your code to the main server. Everything looks good cos you tested it locally. You got home only for your boss to call you back. People cant pay. Your life starts getting worse because you failed to do proper checks and you have a loop like that....

Recursion eats up stack space leading to 'stackoverflow errors'. Inbuilt loops(while,for) dont.
Recursion is grossly inefficient,resource wise.

Recursion means a subroutine(method,function) is calling itself.

Olodo. You should ask why i made that statement about the recursive loop. Your summary is 50% correct but you have not looked at all the possibilities.

Asides the obvious errors no $ before variable names, you code will likely enter a recursive loop(forever loop). If you can figure out why then i will take you as a serious programmer. paste the corrected code here.

BTW if you want such a competition it can be done healthily and in a respectful manner, with few neutral judges and a good programmer throwing the questions.
