The Vouch here is for the character of the person you are about to deal with be it TLC or AIN and not for the product! This story is a bit long but pls bear with me.

I met this man almost 2yrs ago at an event a friend invited me to. The next week, he collected my number from my friend and called me, we began talking from there and agreed to go on a date. He proposed marriage to me on the first date which I rejected. I told him that I can't marry outside my church and from the little I've heard from him, our life dreams differ. I decided to cut him off from that day and I stayed away for about 3months. Meanwhile he got my friend to introduce him to my sis, mum and another friend who happened to be from his place, I'll call her Grace.
He made them all aware of his intent towards me and my stand and asked for their help to change my mind. Grace became his biggest ally and convinced me to have another date. He asked that we date for a while and see if we can work out our differences. During the date I noticed he has a very hot and quick temper and he listens to gossip a lot so I do tell Gracethat I don't see a future with him but he was too persistent, Grace always had words of encouragement and considering the fact that for some strange reason, it was mainly married men always approach me for a relationship with stories of how they got married to a wrong woman and they are or are almost divorced, dating a single man with no kids was very tempting and I decided to give it a try.

He asked me to tell him everything about me so there are no secrets between us and I did. Starting from secondary school to that day, I told him everything, from my first kiss, the colleague who tried to rape me, my ex who lied about his marital status and disvirgined me etc. he did the same too and I felt a burden roll off my shoulder.

Few days later I began to notice changes in him especially towards my business. I thrive in a male dominated industry in a ratio of 9men to 1woman. He asked me to show him the pictures of my colleagues which I did, he also asked if they make passes at me which I said is almost inevitable but my boundaries are clear and rigid.

Fast forward to now. I noticed that whenever I drop my phone, he goes through it. Facebook, sms, WhatsApp etc. He even picks my call when I'm not close to the phone. He asked me about a certain colleague who cracks dirty jokes like how I rushed to get married (I told him I'm already married). I didn't think much about it.

He later began to complain about my partners and how I'm sleeping with them like the prostitute I am, called me an unrepentant liar, unsubmisive, manipulating etc. Said he regrets asking for my hand at all and he's just waiting forthe day he'll catch me redhanded so he can dump my sorry a*s.
I told him to end it now cus I'm fed up, family came in and I later found out that Grace has been telling a lot of lies against hoping to get him for herself as well as hate filled advises from some aggrieved friends who felt ladies from my tribe are no good and just there to "chop money". Apologies were said and received and we continued.

Another time I visited him and we had an argument, he gave me several heavy knocks on my head and I developed a headache and began to insult him which resultedin more heavy knocks. I broke up with him and left. Later my mum called him to ask why he laid his hands on me, he denied it swearing with his life. Said I insulted him and he lost his temper and insulted me back that he's sorry. He began to drop messages everywhere and I eventually gave in.

3rd incident happened on our way back from an event. He saw a message from a colleague he told me to stop doing business with cus he feels the man has his eyes on me which is totally not true. He flared up, stopped the car and was even threatening to beat me up. I came down from his car and stood by the roadside. He came down too and gave me the insult of my life in full public view and glare and told me to enter the car which I refused. I had no money on me and had to beg a stranger for money. By that time he was coming back, he quickly took a picture of both of us and sent it to everybody of how he caught me in the act with my lover on the road. He called me and said that if he must marry me, I must break my business sim card and look for a wife friendly occupation or sit at home.

He later apologised over it. Meanwhile he and my sis don't flow as before as he once called her a prostitute.

I want to call it quits but everyone around me feels it's a mistake and he is saying everything out of anger and if I'm patient enough, he will change completely.

I must admit that he has changed alot since we met but the progress compared to the timeframe and the heat I face everyday is nothing to write home about.

He loves me to a fault and I don't know if I can find someone who loves me like him but his other attitude is sniffing life out of me. Do I stay or quit?

Though i don't know any of this moniker, and am not taking side with anyone, but i don't like the terms you used by saying I have promised to help you contact the seller are you not the one that placed the order? he paid you for that service, any risk that occurs is for you, all what he needs is to get his item he paid for, what you need to do is to plead with him to be patient with you, that you are sorting it out by reaching out to the seller and if eventually you did not get the item at a specific time, he has all the right to get his full refund. My opinion, am meant to be corrected, though.

With what I'm seeing here... Mr AY should be able to do this thing, it looks like "network region" issue. This is not hardware, this is software issue CDMA/EVDO

Besides, there should be Automatic or Global that is the major mode that needs to be registered with it. I never see EVDO carrier in Nigeria

Have you tried to change all the network mode (Automatic, 2G/3G, LTE/CDMA - or whatever modes are available) and restart the phone at each point on the mode.

Reason being that I've sold a samsung phone (S7 edge) to someone here and the buyer called stated cellular issue just like this. After sending it back to me, I found out it was on a certain mode that the cellular won't work (since it was unlocked here). So, changing it to automatic the phone works fully well, and with 4G sef.

So, I'll advice you check the network mode very well.

Hi, welcome to the thread. Since nobody has helped you with any explanations to your questions, let me help you, as I no see sleep sleep.

1. The phones sold here are 100% sourced from the USA-, both fairly used and brand new. These phones are ordered from local classifieds ad sites like 5 miles, Offer Up, Craigslist etc and nationwide classifieds ad sites like Ebay, Amazon etc and other general shopping sites. The idea is to buy at the cheapest price possible, to make a good profit.
The process of scouting for such bargain deals is called deal-hunting. Hence, most of the sellers here are 'deal hunters'. There are also people who buy from the dealhunters to resell here or offline. You know the drill.

2. From whichever of the types of classifieds ad sites that the deals are bought from, somebody has to go pick and pay for the deal. You pay to them for the item+their fuel and service charge+shipping to Naija, and they go pick up, and will ship with other items, per week. It's a side-hustle, for them.
We call them pickers. They live in the USA.
However, some of them do strictly Ebay and Amazon. They may or may not live in the USA.. For Ebay and Amazon and general shopping on shopping sites, all they need is an address to ship packages to, and they arrange pickup with cargo shippers from the USA to ship to Naija.

3. a) When these deals are paid for, picked up, and shipped, a dealhunter may decide to advertise the deal as TLC (total landing cost). deal. Meaning that, they don't want to wait 1-2 weeks for the shipped item to land in Nigeria, before selling it off. So, they sell it off while it's still in transit, to free up money for other deals. TLC items already have the item cost+picker fees+shipping to Naija+ say 5k (+/-)profit factored into the final offer. So, they're always cheap, not negotiable, but you have to patiently wait for them to land in Naija. TLC items are usually 20-40k cheaper than similar offers at Ikeja computer village. The cons here is that both you and the dealhunter don't know the full details of the condition of the deal. The pros, for the buyer is the cheap prices. The pros, for the dealhunter/seller is that they're able to turnover their investment as many times as they want, and make instant profit. Imagine dealing 10-15 times in a month and making 5-10k per deal, as passive income. BUT, e no easy o. To negotiate with Oyinbo, seal a deal, send picker the item info, and hope that they pickup the deal on time, etc, involves lot of sleepless nights, failed pickups, Naija customs delays, etc.

3. b) Sometimes, the dealhunter/seller may not want to sell at TLC price, because selling at prevailing market price is more profitable, or the dealhunter may not get someone to buy at TLC value, until the item lands in Nigeria. This deal is called an AIN (Already in Nigeria) deal. Dealhunter buys item(s), ship to Naija, and sells at Naija prevailing rates, or slightly cheaper, to make higher profits. Some of these AIN dealers are shop owners and actual resellers at places like Ikeja Computer Village, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and in other states.
On this type of deal, you can go meet the dealhunter at their office or a meeting point, to inspect item's condition, before you pay for it.

I know that this thread has already reached 700 pages, but, go to Page 1, for more details on how it all works, and read up pages 1-10, and then, come to page 680 to the latest page, to have a good grasp of what we do here, and how to get nice deals.

You, too, can be a reseller, one-time buyer, or dealhunter.

Escrow holding funds for 2 weeks already defeated the purpose. I believe most Ebay shoppers use deal pickers for shipping. If that is so, seller can wait till his/her items get to the shipper before selling. That way, the picker can still be called upon to confirm item reception.

A little suggestion of mine , what about deal hunters submits a valid means of identification (just like offerup) either drivers license or national ID card , that way it will be easier to trace one when deals go south and let the means of identification matches with the bank account of such deal hunters

By popular demand, most businessmen here have agreed that:

i. Every TLC deal should have the name of picker.
ii. If you doubt the TLC deal, confirm from the picker, request that ownership be transferred from the deal hunter to you before shipping.
iii. When requesting for an AIN deal, dont ask people to message you on whatsapp, just ask them to quote you then you reach out to them.
iv. For AIN deal, if seller is not in your location and you dont really trust the seller, kindly make use of an escrow. It is better to lose 500 naira or 1k that would be charged by an escrow than to lose 100k.
v. Everyone should save as many contacts as they can so that when someone claims to be another person, you can easily detect because you have the original number saved.
vi. Deal hunters must have their whatsapp link in their signature.
vii. Deal buyers should asked to be quoted on Nairaland before proceeding to deal with any deal hunter especially those that contacts them on whatsapp.

Buyers/Sellers who fail to adhere to the stated rules of safe buying would be ignored cos you can't use your greediness and foolishness to give the business a bad name. If you come to wail after you've been scammed, you would be reported to the moderator for trying to give the business a bad name(just like the Scammers) or totally ignored or banned.

Finally, there will always be a case of a TLC deal gone bad. Panel consisting of about 3-5 people with Wisdom, Reputation , Maturity and Vast Knowledge of the PickUp Highs&Lows should be setup to resolve issues between dealhuter & buyers.. And in the case a decision is taken and the dealhuter or buyer errs ,, the Panel should be enriched with power (maybe forward such handle to the mod) to temporarily ban such persons from further transaction in the Technology Section..
