Good evening wonderful fellow.

Please don't relent, they is still hope.
Put in much effort and you will see your test scores rising.

I saw you are also having challenges with respect to cadeveric identification.
Basically, this was the torn of my flesh when I entered med school but initially, I began to take some adequate measures as I am improving on it now with the help of some of my colleagues.
This is what I normally do, always visit the Dissections lab during break time with some of your mates who Are extremely strong on this.
Trust me, they will help you with this immensely and once you visit like two or three times, you will find out that it will be sticking gradually.
I will councel, start with the basis as this helps me to apprehend more and ask questions.

Try watching videos too.
I am not a fan of videos, I read textbooks
So choose the one that works for you mostly and then always have someone as a friend in your class that is extremely stronger than you academically to explain some certain concepts to you, be it a lady or guy depending on your choice.

Related with your Coursemates extremely well, they will help you in terms of sharing study materials and some break down of complex topics if any.

Always source for past questions on the subsequent test you are to write

Then ask a senior colleague to pinpoint everything or share an experience of the topics and then questions asked during his or her time

Always remember God in all ramifications and this I must not forget.

All the best Fellow.

As I entered med school, I dropped the best student mentally which I was crowned during my Junior and senior secondary school days, attended numerous science quiz competition and one of the champions in my town. Only cadeveric identification humbled me at the first beginning initially. I had to do my things on a low key and buried my champion mindsets and associates more with my colleagues. I don't joke with them, their explanation helps sometimes.
Omor, Few of them here can relate shaa.

Please at this point, I believe the passmark is 50 depending on institutions.
Please at a point where someone didn't meet this criteria at the first or second attempt.
Please is there still hope for this.

Identifying of cadaveric structures especially those that have been preserved for long can be quite difficult, some have already become black, atrophied and virtually invisible. Howerever you can use Cunningham anatomy practical manual as a guide, it will help you.
Also, make friends with your classmates that can identify the structures and get them to teach you
Appreciated my chief.

Greetings medics in the forum. I trust you all are doing great.

Please, I need a genuine and total response from everyone. This post is not restricted to only one person. Please I need all immediate response from you all.

Ever since I got to medical school, cadeveric identification or identification of structures in the Cadever has become a thorn of my flesh.
I am really finding it difficult to identify and visualise things in the dissection lab. I don't really know why but please your response can go a long to see how I can deal with this stuff.
.

Please how do you guys identity and visualise the cadeveric structural identification. Please I need hints and tips with respect to this.
Please solutions here is open to everyone.

The thing is, in the Cadever structures there is kind of scattered. Me I usually find it difficult to know which is which but yet my classmates can as well identity it despite of it being scattered. Omor, 😭 this thing is really racking my heart.

Mhizkriskel:
HI guys Happy New Year. I'm aspiring to study medicine and surgery buh i need help with good university options. I was told of Unical and Uniport. Pls guys, I need advice and suggestions.
Hi bro, Congratulations on choosing to study medicine and surgery in a Nigerian institution. Here, medicine is still same thing both in federal institution, State institution or private institution. What matters a lot is your ability to keep pushing despite the innumerable work loads.
Know that Every institution is the same, none is left out maybe a little differences on the approach of impacts.

I will councel you to choose an institution in which your JAMB score can suffice.
It is only your UTmE score, O level grades and as well God factors that can speak for you.
Medicine and surgery is extremely competitive and once your total score isn't equal to the departmental cut off of the institution you choosed, you know what that means.

The tertiary institution located in your state is cool, your state federal University is cool or as well you consider catchment areas that falls within your state. Anything outside this, you have to have a very high score for you to be able to suffice on the admission lists.

Best of luck bro

whether or not they share/hoard materials, it shouldn't be your concern.

Form a group of 5 intellectual power house: you-all should be in the same department and do things together. Forget the rest of the class.
Med school is made up of mostly idiots who think others have to fall/fail for them to rise.

Just form a tribe of 5 stand out students today, create a WhatsApp group and you'll thank me in a few years to come.
Noted Boss. Definitely, I will do that.

Appreciated chief

And not everyone knows how to compete in a healthy manner.

Greetings everyone. Senior chiefs in the forum, they is something i learnt in medical school. Why is it that your Course mates are not willing to share their materials or textbooks with you.... Why do most people in medical school hoard materials to the extent of trying to deviate and giving unpleasant excuses irrespective of pleading with them thoroughly...... Why is it that some of your cousemates won't respond to your chats knowing fully well that you knew that they are online and once someone just make a comments at the group chat, they got to be the first pal to view it.... Why is it that some of your coursemates are not being straightforward when you are trying to plead with them to initiate or discuss how they do their own stuffs personally and lots of more disgusting behaviors.

Please my senior chiefs in the forum, please detail to me the motive why do this happens and why do some of your coursemates does this despite your relationship with the individual

This thing is getting out of hand and it's making me to adopt the possession of behavior which they ought to portray.

You will get to plead with someone to send you a material or past questions, they will be like... I don't even know what you are talking about.

Everyone studies differently but I personally hate textbooks, They make me sleepy and I barely get any substance.
I use youtube ALOT, For anatomy. I used Dr hasna ( a Pakistan female lecturer) She more than enough to cover both obj and theory aspect. I also used Dr bondok as well for anatomy If I needed more knowledge.
For physiology and biochemistry, I used ninja nerd, Mr matt&Mike and a few other people.
I then wrapped up every reading by going ahgthrough the lecturers appreciated boss

The only time I used textbook was for reading essential physiology when I needed to get info I was struggling to get on the web.

Just to give you a highlight of how much I use youtube, I'd have 600 videos of different topics downloaded grin

On the diagrams part, I'm a very poor drawer so If possible, I always avoid drawing but if you can then pls do because it always carries extra marks.
I only learnt how to draw histology slides because it earned a lot of marks. So ye, always learn how to draw those complex slides.

My study time is usually 10am-4/5pm. I don't study at night as I use that period to do my personal hobbies like maybe watching a movie or gaming, At least make person enjoy life small.

But ofc during my resit period, I studied 24/7 as long as I was awake and took energy drinks to stay awake (this I don't recommend as it gave me mutiple horrible headaches)

Last piece, Always make a note on past questions or questions to constantly revise, It helps to build up residual knowledge, You have to read the same thing like 20 times and you fit still forget am because we study SO MANY things but at least you'd have an IDEA.

Good luck.

Update!
I passed my resitting exams, I just hope this would encourage any other medical student that may be in this same position.

It wasn't funny, I was studying 10 hours per day and some times not sleeping at all.

Medicine is the safest career out there any where in the world. People are being made redundant in tech industries.
And as a doctor , just aim to practice medicine in Aussie, Canada and US. Your life would never remain the same . You would out earn techies or earn at their level.

It's been a long time on this thread. Just stumbled upon it again. Came as an aspirant, finished medical school , typing as a family medicine resident doc in the UK.

Kudos to everyone
wow. Congratulations doc. Your med journey stories really inspired many. Keep up the good work doc.

MBBS is the safest career choice you can make. You will "cash out" from the degree till you leave this earth, if you want to. I worked in tech for a while. Enjoyed the money, and the fast paced work environment. But there is just this thing about medicine. If you get it, you get it. When you get to a certain level in life, money becomes a constant. At that level, those around you will relate based on personal attainments. Well, if that is what matters.

Meanwhile, there is a "pandemic" of job losses in tech. So many techies are either laid off or can't find work.
The great giant comrade of UNIUYO, Dr.Sir Lomaxx. you are extremely welcome sir. We your children are hailing you sir on the legacies, impacts, councel you instilled on this great forum; Including Dr. Sir Lagusta and others innumerable to mention.
