nigerdeltaa1: Mob attack DCO in Aba over killing of trader August 3, 2015 : Stephen Ukandu 8 Comments
The Divisional Crime Officer of the Ariaria Police Division, Aba, Abia State, identified simply as Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, narrowly escaped lynching by an irate mob, who were protesting against the killing of a trader.
The incident which occurred on Friday reportedly caused disrupted business activities in the market and its environs.
It was gathered that some security operatives had raided the area, creating pandemonium which led to the death of the trader.
It was said the police were behind the raid, which made the crowd storm the Ariaria division, as they protested against the killing.
But the Abia State Police Command although one person was shot, the police were not responsible.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Udeviotu Onyeke, said the men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency raided an area, which was suspected to be a haven for hard drug sellers and buyers.
Onyeke said the operatives of the NDLEA were resisted and they later reinforced and stormed the area again, resulting into clashes during which the victim was shot.
The PRO said the mob took the corpse of the victim in a wheel barrow to the Ariaria Police Station to vent their anger on the police.
He said, “Efforts made by the DCO to explain that the police did not raid the market proved abortive as he was beaten into pulp by the mob. The protesters descended on him, gave him a deep machete cut in the head and he became unconscious.
“They snatched the DCO’s riffle and phones and was about to set the police station ablaze when they were repelled by policemen from the Aba Area Command.”
The police spokesman said the DCO was later revived at a hospital in the area.
He added that the irate mob later attacked a police post in the Urata area of the commercial city where they burnt two vehicles.
Onyeke said that no arrests had been made, but added that police had commenced investigation into the matter.
He appealed to Aba residents to reject any incitement against security agents, adding that those found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
However, the outlawed Radio Biafra monitored in Aba gave a different version of the scenario, broadcasting that “three innocent Biafran activists” were shot by Nigerian soldiers.
The anchor person called on the international community to carry out investigations into the alleged killings, threatening that if nothing was done, the group might go on reprisals.http://www.punchng.com/city-news-feature/mob-attack-dco-in-aba-over-killing-of-trader/ that albino is always known to reconstruct stories to deceive his gullible zombies. Politics › Nigerian Islamic Bank Set To Begin Operation In Ibadan by shachris02(op): 7:29am On Aug 03, 2015 |
Jaiz Bank plc is set to open a branch in Ibadan, a southwestern Nigerian city. The bank is aware of the difficulties it'll face but is upbeat about its chances. The South-West zonal committee for the operation of Jaiz Bank Plc said the bank would begin operation in Ibadan and other cities in the South-West towards the end of the year after all documents and other logistics would have been perfected. The revelation was made in Ibadan during the first shareholders’ forum of the bank organised by the committee as part of the sensitisation effort towards the successful establishment of the bank in the South-West region. The Chairman of the committee, Lasun Sanusi (SAN), said the bank was aware of the teething problems it would face, expressing the optimism, however, that it would survive because of the success it recorded in areas where it was already operating in the country. The Group Head, Public Sector, Jaiz Bank, Mallam Ismail Adamu, explained that the bank offered non-interest banking services to the public and that it began operation in the North-East and North-West regions on June 1, 2012 after obtaining licence in November 2011. Describing her experience, Gates said on her Facebook page, “During my stay in Malawi, I joined the women collecting drinking water. I carried 20 litres and it was tough. Many women do this every day.” She has been described as one of the world’s famous social activist “who is trying to serve the people in ignorance.” In June, wife of the US billionaire met with Malawian President Peter Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe. A female teacher identified as Princess Uzoamaka Onyishi, nee Ugwuokwor, 40 pictured above was last week murdered by unknown gunmen while on her way from the swearing in ceremony of new commissioners by Enugu state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Vanguard reports that Mrs Onyishi who hailed from Mbu -Akpoti in Isi- Uzo local government area of the state had accompanied a relation of hers , Mrs. Eze, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of her husband, Mr M.E Eze, who was appointed Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, when she was attacked and shot in the head by two unknown gunmen. The victim had left the venue of the swearing in ceremony in company of her Kano-based sister, Mrs Ndidiamaka Nnaji, who she dropped off at their family compound along Ogurugu road in Nsukka, picked up her cousin, Miss Jacinta Okwor, who lives with her and headed for her residence at Uwani- Ugwu. She was driving on the lonely road leading to her home when she noticed two men who looked like their motorcycle was bad. In a bid to assist them, she flashed her light at them so they could see what they were doing when suddenly one of the men brought out a gun and immediately shot at her, shattering her skull. The lady who was with the deceased when the ugly incident happened, Jacinta Okwor, narrated their travail. “I was in the vehicle with her when the people emerged and shot her. The two men demanded nothing from her, only pointed gun and shot her instantly. When she was shot, she fell on my laps. I did not know she was dead. When the two men left, I started calling her to wake up for us to go, unknown to me that she was dead. As my efforts to wake her failed, I took the bush part and ran to a house not too far from the scene and informed her husband that aunty has been shot dead just now. The killers did not demand anything from her. I sat with her in the front seat. It was a horrible experience. I have not recovered from the trauma. The cloth I wore that faithful day is still soaked with the blood of my aunty. God will never forgive her killers. I am an apprentice tailor under my sister’s care but now they have killed her. One of the two men was dragging motor cycle and she flashed light to help him only for another to emerge from the bush and shot her, point blank without uttering a word to her.” Uzoamaka Nnaemeka Ugwuokor, the Elder sister to the deceased said "What prompted her killing still remains a mystery to the family that just buried their father, Igwe Gabriel Ugwuokwor. She was driving herself when the incident happened. She never joined politics for one day. Her only business in politics was to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed commissioner. The incident has been reported to Nsukka police division who promptly responded to the call put across to them when she was shot. Both the police and some clergy men assisted in taken her to Bishop Shanahan mortuary where her corpse was deposited. Presently, the matter has been transferred to Enugu state police headquarters. The gruesome killing of our sister has taken the family to a devastating point of agony, mourning, confusion and pity. She is the most endearing in the hearts of members of the family. She was humble, amiable and loving to the people that interacted with her. We are not suspecting any person for now,. Our only prayer is for God to bring out the killers of our sister. She was a mother of five, two boys and three girls. The first is a first year student at UNN, the second will be writing the post UME, the third is in SS 3, the fourth is in SS 1 while the last one is in primary five" she said Source |

Politics › Re: What Is Wrong With Igbo's? by shachris02: 8:34pm On Aug 01, 2015 |
bilms: What is wrong with igbo's?
When you read books like Things Fall Apart, Efuru and their likes, you get to learn a great deal about the Igbo culture. The men are usually men of honour, they mean what they say and say what they mean. Most of all, when or if a decision taken takes a bad turn, they are ready to face it like the warriors they are.
Funny thing is that these kind of Igbo men seem to exist in meusiums and old history books, but no longer in real life. Ok, you can find a handful here and there but a majority of them today are better of taking the steps of Bruce Jenner.
When you hear some Igbo men talking about how the north marginalised them, in terms of governance via millitary coup, you may be forced to believed that millitary coups are conducted by ballots rather than bullets. Especially when Igbos are pioneers of coup de tete in this country. Instead of sitting on your sorry asses and disrespecting the legacies of your ancestors, why not take your guns and do it the way it's done?
Again you complain of systematic killing, when it was you who first initiated the systematic killings of prominent Nigerian leaders. When shit hit the fence, you start whining in such a way that is hypocritical and anoying. The Sardauna for example was not only a leader of the Hausa, he was leader of Muslims in Nigeria. If you want to kill a man like that, be ready to face the consequences and don't cry.
Then came Biafra, which any strategic leader and general knows it's a stupid idea. You do not start a war you obviously know you cannot win. Especially when your soldiers shamelessly fed on food that was meant for poor civilians, mainly women and children, forcing federal forces to cut off food supply, because obviously, you cannot feed your enemy, that is stupid. But then again, you blame Nigeria for starving your people, how? So you mean to say you had no plans to provide food for your people before going to war? And by the way, why not take responsibility since you claim to no longer belong to Nigeria, what kind of logic is that?
Then just a few months back, not only did you insult Buhari inside out, you walked to the graveyard, with your flashlights and shovels, dug out his dead wife and daughter, vomited, maturbated and peed all over them without any iota of shame. You even swore that Buhari will not become president, and made us all believe that you are custodians of the gates of heaven and hell and have the power to do and undo. Today? Different story. Open every newspaper and what you read is "Buhari has shown his hatred for Igbos". What the hell is wrong with you guys?
And again today, we are back to the good old Biafra thing again.
Kontinwu. Hamid Abdulmalik Al-Hassan Please, next time, don't insult all igbos. Just a gullible few of us that are giving the impression that igbos are as you have described. |

You claim the Igbos are not united yet you are killing and bombing yourselves. You said no victor no vanquished yet you still make the Igbos to feel the pain of the civil war.You claim Igbos refused to vote for APC yet you want democracy to survive in Nigeria.Igbos have largely contributed to the development of this nation yet they are not appreciated. These have made the actualization of sovereign state of Biafra inevitable and no hand is large enough to cover the rising sun because we are the children of the most high.In Biafra we hope in Biafra we believe. Politics › “No Country Is Helping Nigeria On Boko Haram As Much As The US” – Ambassador Ent by shachris02(op): 7:24am On Aug 01, 2015 |
The United States has said that it supports Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram more than any other country. US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, said his country supports Nigeria’s government in the sharing of intelligence, so as to win the war against terrorism. Entwistle said this on Friday, July 31, during a Facebook question and answer session. He said: “No partner is doing more to help you against Boko Haram than the United States. We hope to train more of your troops; we are glad to discuss weapons transfers and we engage in significant information sharing, which I cannot discuss in detail in this setting. “We also are doing everything we can to support the population of internally displaced Nigerians from the north-east and to help Nigeria create conditions that will prevent something like the scourge of Boko Haram from ever happening again in Nigeria. “The US has for years had a beneficial working relationship with the Nigerian military, especially in the counter-terrorism struggle against Boko Haram. Now more than ever, we are committed to assisting our Nigerian partners as appropriate. That involves training, sharing of information and, in some cases, helping the Nigerian military with its equipment needs. “The Leahy amendment requires that for all countries, we can not train known human rights abusers or that our equipment not be used in depredations against civilian populations.” Source |
