254tobby: If Kenya ain't your destination, what usually thrills your people to come here in flock numbers?Or your country has nothing to offer to them in terms of humanistic lifestyle? honestly speaking, about 80% of them here are engaging in illegal activities, then we talk about it these, you'll say that we're negative about Nigerians. Why don't they just stay in your country instead of displaying some form of frivolities on other people's soil? Why don't you ask the 20k Nigerians in Kenya? I'm being honest when I say Kenya isn't usually a destination Nigerian thinks about. You can argue that is out of ignorance and not knowing much outside the continent, but that's the reality. The 20k there are more outliers than anything. |

TayserMahiri: You kicked of reaaalyy well in your earlier post but like with everyone in this thread, you couldnt stand the test of time. Inevitably, you start defending your own. Four posts down the line you have the qualities of everyone in this thread.
You started by posing what every Nigerian has tried "why are kenyans here, and are Nigerians ever on Kenyan sites?". Sorry to tell you that has probably been asked a million times here. So here is the response, and I hope all newcomers refrain from the same question henceforth:
You wont find Kenyans creating country comparison threads in Kenyan forums like you find here. This comparison thread was started by a Nigerian.
You get the drift?
You cannot start discussing about me and then ask me "why are you joining the discussion which is about yourself?" Its inevitable that I will join to correct any misconceptions and try to paint the right image about myself because I know myself better. Even though you may be saying that, Aha! this guy is lovely and all stunning, you will as well be saying untruths like he is insane and inebriated!
Bottomline; if you start discussing me, it first shows that:
1. my life alone is enough concern to you even in my absence, and 2. you should expect me to come into the discussion because it is LOUD. Its not like its a private convo. If it was in a private chatroom, no kenyan would be there.
We are not shocked that Nigerians are defending their country, that is precisely what we expected. What we are shocked with is that you find it shocking that we are defending our country. What did you expect? When we defend ourselves its shocking but its not when you defend yourselves.
By the time you got to your second paragraph, you were on straws, really. You were hardly indistinguishable from the multitudes that have tried that line before. You wish to lie that Kenya is the last thing in Nigerian minds, with no threads about Kenya. So who created this thread and why? There is a thread about Kenya almost every day in this site, unless you are new. And almost all are started by who? Yep, Nigerians! Ofcourse! And when Kenyans contribute you get mad! What do you want? Either you stop the projection on us or start threads and wait for the inevitable. We may be 5000 kilometers away but online, we are just next door. It is even worse because the speed of our internet is something else, we see your posts here earlier than some of your neighbors. Dont even mistake our presence as promotion for tourism, that is just a side kick for our presence. Our presence here is precisely because well, you cannot keep off our mentions.
Wondering why we dont pose the query to the Nigerians here ? Because we dont care ! Should we go about asking everyone from overseas that funny question? It is only in a thread like this that we encounter such questions, and its possibly a unique thread in the world. I have never come across this kind of thread anywhere before.
Frankly, I dont think there is any way you can spin it to put the blame on Kenyans. The thing is, Kenya barely gets discussed here. I looked at the beginning and for the most part a lot of the thread started out positive. There were a few negative accounts from Nigerians, but they were mostly checked by other Nigerians. Then a bunch of Kenyans came with a hubris that matched the hubris with a few Nigerian trolls and now we have 1600 pages. I admit i'm not as active on this site anymore, but from time to time I check and I hardly see threads about Kenya. I see more about attrocities in Nigeria that makes me sad. You must be actively looking for threads about Kenya to find them so easily. Even yesterday and today I didn't see any thread about Kenya on here, but the way you tell it all Nigerians are obsessed with talking about Kenya and bursting for country comparison. I decided to take your advice and looked through threads featuring Kenya, and almost all of them have no traction. I stand a hundred percent with what I said. The thing is its almost the same Nigerians you people have been arguing with it for 1600 pages . You guys must be really invested in this to not let this go. There is also a difference between defending and being an insultive asshole. Most of you have crossed that line. Same with some of these Nigerian trolls. |

254tobby: You're saying Nigerian population in Kenya is less than 0.05% of Nigeria's total population yet the population of your peeps here ranges between 17k-20k.How many Kenyans do you think live in Nigeria? Less than 500 There is only 17k-20k Kenya in Nigeria but you make it seem like there is thousands. With the way you guys talked I thought it was about 100,000 that's the benchmark I used. The percentage is even less then in about 0.01%. Population proportions my brother. There are more Nigerians in neighbouring African nations that might be considered in a worse state than Nigeria . Yes, we get it. Nigerians are such illegal fraudaulent people that brought crime to Kenya . Its funny to me when other countries use Nigerians being there as a benchmark, when you can find a Nigerian everywhere regardless of how bad a country it might be. This is how I saw someone from Cameroon yesterday talking about how Nigerians are always beefing with them, and that so many Nigerians flocking to Cameroon lol. Well I said my piece. Let me disappear now . I have no dog in this fight. As I said previously before I got diverted in my defense, all of this is useless until we get African superpowers. Until then, its like acting which is the bigger aunt in an aunt hill when compared to the rest of jungle . Africans are largely irrelevant to the global stage unless its to manipulate and divert us. I would like to end with commendment to Kenya for their improved electricity and technology though. Top 20 fastest internet is no joke. |

This Agreement will grow all african countries but how quick countries grow will depend on how they package themsalve.. It will push Entrepreneurs and Investors to different heights because they will be dealing with much larger population and different dynamics.
If Nigerians can't trade with other countries in Africa they should also remain in their country and make it prosperous. Currently you are running away from your shithole and yet you claim you want to make it better. You are very confusing and nasty lol. As for the trade agreement, many here agree that Nigerian's don't really need it for now and that it won't benefit Nigeria. Nigeria needs to improve infrastructure and manufacturing first. It isn't being cowardly, but its an honest truth. Nigeria needs to tap into its huge market first before opening it. I hope Nigeria doesn't sign. Only people who are excited are the ones who need to expand their markets. |

Just because I am objective? I'm fair on both sides. You are the one claiming that Nigeria is the only country for slavery and prostitution. I countered that. Other African countries on Nairaland shouldn't worry you. It's exciting. We get different perspectives. I want nairaland to even grow more, and see countries like Congo, Tanzania, Sudan, Angola... etc
I won't be surprised if nairaland becomes more pan African in the future. It's inevitable... It isn't really Pan African when all they are here for is to prove their country is better. The discourse and information is amazing, but a lot of it gets lost under the insults and bragging. |

My only other question is is there a Kenyan site where Nigerians are in Kenya's business like this lol? What's the point on going on a nairaland forum and acting shocked when Nigerians defend their country. What's the point on going on a Nigerian forum and berating Nigeria 24/7. You guys keep saying you want to change your subject but you can't. You need to prove to Nigeria that your country is better, but why? Most Nigerians here wouldn't be visiting Kenya. There is no purpose? Why is it so important to prove that your country is better? Are you getting paid to promote tourism in Nigeria ? You claim you are here to defend your country from Nigerians, but to be bluntly honest Kenya hardly gets mentioned in nairaland. Nigerians are too busy cursing Nigeria left and right to really think of other African Nations like that. If you want an honest and objective debate why not try the Nigerians actually living in Kenya? I don't even think Nigerians think of African countries like that aside from SA and the ones nearby. I would imagine this is the same with Kenya, so why so many of you guys here? For all the Kenyans here, no offense but what's the point of berating Nigerians in Nigeria? You guys claim its to fix their delusions and arrogance, but what's the point? Most of them wouldn't suddenly change their mind as evidenced by how long this thread is. |

Hello everyone, I would like to join this debate as someone sent this thread to me. This is hilarious to me. It seems the premise of this thread is to prove which African Nation is less bad lol. This is hilarious because where I am I have friends from Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana and ect, and there is a constant debate on which African Nation is worse . I guess one has to save face if you are online and in your own country. What's hilarious is that regardless of where you are from in Africa, you complain about the same issues, safety, water, electricity (to a point), corruption, bad and expensive health care and hospitals, education sector, lack of jobs ect. Trying to decide which one is better on a long internet thread is useless. We are all seen equally as bad in the eyes of foreigners, aside from South Africa for obvious reasons. Foreigners complain about the same issues in almost every African Nation from Kenya to Nigeria . I know some of you have superiority complex, but in general, no African country is seen in a better light . I wonder why threads like this are so long but not threads about the increasing Chinese investments in various African Nations. While you guys keep scrambling over which mediocre African Nation is better, everyone is talking about how China is recolonizing Africa . I guess trying to prove others are in worst situations than you makes someone sleep better at night. Collectively, African countries have failed. No first world country when most got their independence around the same time as Asian countries. You can blame European colonialism and blah blah, but that only works to a point. The best African countries with the best infrastructure or economies are ones where whites were heavily involved in their infrastructure, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa. You can claim all you want that blacks had a hand in building, but they were mostly laborers. My friend just came back from Botswana and Namibia and she was talking about how in all the expensive places you can only find whites, and that as a Black African they looked at her like she didn't belong. I am no patriot just a realist. I will say this though Country with better infrastructure and electricity-Kenya Country where most businesses are more likely to be owned by local than foreigners-Nigeria Country with less corruption----Hard as all African Nations are fantastically corrupt, they only look less corrupt when comparing with Nigeria |

I think he meant insulters like yourself. A lot of you Kenyans here are very negative and abusive. That is the truth. For the love of me, I wouldn't be on a forum filled with people I despise. The fraudulent activities line is so old, as if Kenyans are such peaceful saints. I find it hilarious when countries who complain about corruption in their own countries try and paint Nigerians as fraudaulent. As if the entire of Africa isn't known for fraudalent activities. I notice other Africans like to flock on nairaland and act like their shit doesn't stink, as if Kenya isn't up there for Africa brain drain along with Nigeria. Not physically go there. No offense, but i've never heard Kenya as a destination or migrant place for Nigeria. Nigerians are everywhere in Africa including in worse African Nations, and even if you have a hundred thousand Nigerians in Kenyans percentage wise that's less than 0.05% of Nigeria's population, so obviously Nigerians aren't trekking everywhere to go to Kenya . Lol at calling South Africa a developed country. Just by Africa standards you mean . |

Culture › Re: Difference Between Being Black In The Uk And Being Black In The Us by shadowhunter15(f): 12:52am On May 07, 2015 |
AkanIgbo: Another incredibly stupid lie about blacks in America. I finally realize that most of the information that most people think that they know about African Americans is complete misinformation.
Where does one even start with these ridiculous statements. First of all "blacks" in America call themselves African Americans. So right there they are telling you where they came from . These are the names that people used to call "black" people in American:
1. Slave 2. Negro 3. Colored 4. Black 5. Afro American and
Finally, it was the "black" people in American that wanted to be known as African Americans, because while we didn't know exactly where our ancestors were from in Africa; African Americans did know that they ancestors were from Africa. So African Americans know where they are from; even the common "black" American refer to themselves as African American; because all African Americans know that there is no such place as slave, negro, colored, black or Afro any place in Africa. So if there is any group that is letting the World know that they are African it is African Americans. The movement is so strong, that African American is showing up on official forms as frequently as the word black.
African Americans even celebrate something called "Black History" month in America every February to celebrate our African roots and we put "Kwanzaa" on the map in the USA. African Americans have whole departments in historically black colleges set up just for African History, which has led to a movement by major white universities like Harvard setting up African History departments in major universities. Look it up. Dr. Henry Louis Gates at Harvard University is major researcher on African culture and African American Diaspora. Dr. Gates is ran a series on public television and it is followed very closely by people, including just regular every day "black" people in the USA. In fact African history is a wide field of study in American Universities and it is African Americans that have been pushing it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Louis_Gates,_Jr. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finding_Your_Roots http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_American_Lives http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_African_Americans:_Many_Rivers_to_Cross
Where do you think all of this DNA testing stuff for ethnicity is coming from? It is coming from African Americans. They are driving the market, because they want to know exactly where they are from. Read the below linked articles to see all of the companies in the USA offering ethnicity DNA testing to African American, and it has become even higher profiled since a lot of celebrities like Oprah Williams, Vanessa Williams, Don Cheadle, Morgan Freeman, Danny Glover, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, etc., etc., have taken the DNA test. African American are constantly testing their ethnicity, which is why so many of the testing companies are spending so much time in Africa testing the people there and clearing up and verifying oral history.
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/tech/science/genetics/2006-02-01-dna-african-americans_x.htm
Most "blacks" in America don't feel like they are Americans; Hell we know that because White Americans keep reminding black people that they are not Americans, by making policies and laws that only apply to "black" people.
You should stop making generalizations about African Americans, because you don't know what you are talking about. What exactly have the "Black Brits" done to push the study of African History? Because just being from African doesn't make someone more African than someone that has never stepped foot on the Continent. Lol it definetly does make someone more African. Stop trying to claim something you have no right to claim. And don't lie, most blacks mock and hate anything related to Africa. I've never met a black who associate themselves with Africa. And by the way, you guys are Americans regardless of how US views you. Leave the actual African immigrants with that title. |
