CrimeClub Girl. Arrested For Stealing Customer’s ATM Card, Withdraws N.3m by Shaev7(op): 8:14am On Oct 03, 2016
Operatives of the Rapid Response
Squad, RRS, of Lagos State Police
Command, weekend, arrested a club
girl, who allegedly stole one of her
male customers’ Automated Teller
Machine, ATM, while the latter was
sleeping.
The suspect said she stole the money
to stock her shop and take care of her
daughter.
At the time of the arrest, she was
discovered to have successfully
withdrawn N300,000 from the
account. Arrested alongside the 24-
year-old suspect, identified as
Bamigboye Imoleayo, were three
accomplices, among who was her
boyfriend.
Two Android phones, eight pairs of
trousers and shirts, suspected to have
been bought with the illegally-
withdrawn money, were recovered
from the suspects.
The victim, identified simply as Alli,
visited the club on September 23,
where he met the suspect.
Apprehension, according to him, set
in next day, after he received an SMS
debit alert of N90,000 on his phone.
Alli said: “While I was still
contemplating on how to deal with
the issue, I got another debit alert for
buying two Infinix phones totalling
N84,000. I was confused and shocked.
I didn’t know what action to take on a
Saturday evening.
“Again, on Sunday, there was another
debit. I couldn’t pin the crime to the
lady I met at the club. I lodged a
complaint, last Monday morning, at
my bank and I was told that the
withdrawals and shopping were
legitimately made by me.
“I then reported the incident at the
RRS’s office. My emphasis to the
police was the withdrawals and
shopping totalling N300,000. It was
unbelievable when I met face-to-face
with the suspect, only to discover it
was the lady I met at the club.”

Foreign AffairsPigeon Bird Arrested In India For Carrying Threatening Message To PM by Shaev7(op): 10:21pm On Oct 02, 2016
A pigeon, which most likely came from Pakistan, was taken into custody by border guards after a letter addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was found on the bird. The letter to PM Modi was written in Urdu, a language spoken in Pakistan, and read: “Modi Ji, do not consider us same people as we were during 1971 (Indo-Pak war). Now each and every child is ready to fight against India.” The grey pigeon was discovered by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near Simbal post in Bamial sector on Sunday, the Times of India reported. Police Inspector Ramesh Kumar said that the bird was taken into “custody.” "We are investigating the matter,” he added. Similar messages to Modi, which were carried by two balloons, were recovered in the same region on Saturday. A white pigeon with a piece of paper containing “some words written in Urdu,” was also discovered in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district in September. The historically strained relationship between India and Pakistan has again escalated in recent month. It started with the killing of prominent separatist leader, Burhan Wani, in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir by Indian security forces in July, and the subsequent crackdown on his supporters. In September, 18 Indian soldiers were killed in an attack on an army base, with New Delhi blaming Islamabad for the incident. This week, India said it had carried out “surgical strikes” against Pakistan- based militants across the de facto border in Kashmir, but Pakistan said that the attack targeted its military, killing two troops.

CrimeBoko Haram Terrorists Ambush Army Sescort, Kill Five by Shaev7(op): 11:58pm On Sep 19, 2016
Suspected elements of the remnants
of Boko Haram terrorists who were
foraging for food, Monday, ambushed
troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE
escorting commercial vehicles from
Damboa to Maiduguri, at Sanda
general area, Borno State and killed
five civilians as well as wounding three
soldiers.
This was contained in a statement
issued, Monday, by Colonel Sani
Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director
Army Public Relations.
“Unfortunately, 5 civilians lost their
lives at the incident and another died
on the way to the hospital. Three
soldiers also sustained injuries.The
wounded have been evacuated to
Maiduguri.”
The statement said the a
reinforcement had been dispatched
to search and go after the terrorists.
“Consequently, another robust patrol
team has been despatched to
reinforce the troops, clear the general
area and pursue the terrorists. This
unfortunate incident has brought to
the fore the need for more vigilance
and cooperation amongst all.”
“We would like to assure the public
that we would not allow this isolated
incident to thwart the peace and
security commuters enjoy along the
route and all other opened routes in
the North East. Troops are on the
heels of the attackers and would not
relent till they are apprehended or
killed.”
Additional security measures have
also been placed to avert
reoccurrence.
“In addition, the Theatre Command,
Operation LAFIYA DOLE wishes to
clarify that alleged suspected Boko
Haram terrorists attack at Chibok is
not correct.”
“What happened was that, 2 persons
were murdered at Kwamjilari village,
(which is over 30 kilometres from
Chibok, and very close to Sambisa
forest), by suspected remnants of
Boko Haram terrorists looking for
food.”
“We wish to reiterate that they weren’t
killed outside or near a church as
being bandied around. The people
from the said village are all in
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
camp in Chibok.”
“Those who went back to the village
without authorization were moved
back to Chibok 2 weeks ago. Those
killed went back on their own contrary
to security advise. Nevertheless, a
patrol team was sent from Chibok
went to the village this morning.
Adequate measures would be taken
to ensure no one go back to the
village for now,”
He said.

CrimeBREAKING: Boko Haram Strike Leaves Eight Dead by Shaev7(op): 3:51pm On Sep 19, 2016
At least eight people were killed
outside a church in a suspected Boko
Haram attack carried out by gunmen
on bicycles in northeast Nigeria, local
residents said on Monday.
The attack happened shortly after
morning service on Sunday in
Kwamjilari village, about 30 kilometres
(19 miles) east of the town of Chibok,
in Borno state.
“Some of the worshippers remained
around the church and the gunmen
opened fire and eight men died,” said
Luka Damina, from nearby Kautikeri
village, where locals fled.
Boko Haram
“Unknown to the residents, the
gunmen had stationed some of their
comrades on the road leading out of
the village and they shot anyone who
tried to flee.
“Many people ran into the bush with
gunshot wounds. But so far we can
only confirm eight deaths.”
The attackers set fire to homes and
fields of maize that were almost ready
for harvest, according to a local chief
in Kautikeri, who also said eight
people were killed.
The chief said soldiers were later
deployed to Kwamjilari from Chibok
— the scene of a notorious
kidnapping in 2014 when more than
200 schoolgirls were seized.
A similar attack in the area last month
left 10 people dead and saw 13 others
kidnapped, while homes were looted
and set on fire.
Both raids bear the hallmarks of Boko
Haram Islamists, who have frequently
attacked villages, churches and
mosques across northeast Nigeria and
beyond since 2009.
Nigeria’s military maintains it now has
the upper hand against the
insurgents in a conflict that has left at
least 20,000 dead and made more
than 2.6 million people homeless.
But such sporadic attacks underline
the continuing difficulty in securing
remote rural areas.

EducationHijab: Obey Court Order, Muslims Warn Lagos Schools by Shaev7(op): 5:44am On Sep 19, 2016
*ANCOPSS urges principals to allow students wear hijab

By Monsur Olowoopejo

Lagos—As Lagos schools resume today, the Lagos State Area Unit of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN, has warned Tutor-Generals/Permanent Secretaries, principals and teachers, to adhere to the Appeal Court judgement granting the right to wear hijab in public schools in the state.

This came two months after the Court of Appeal granted the right to wear hijab in all public primary and secondary schools in Lagos State, interpreting that sections 38 and 42 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended) guarantees the fundamental human right of wearing hijab.

Also, the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, has asked members not to direct students to remove or seize hijab.

Amir of the MSSN, Lagos State, Mr. Saheed Ashafa, who gave the warning, yesterday, in a statement, insisted that students should neither be punished, harassed nor victimised for wearing hijab within and outside the school premises.

He stated that: “Though, we do not expect any teacher to act to the contrary, if they do, we urge our members to ensure that they resist removing the hijab with their own hands. They should ensure that the teacher or overzealous principal do it themselves. And after any of the education stakeholders does that, he or she should be prepared for legal and mass actions.”

Reminding the stakeholders that the right to wear hijab has been granted in Lagos State-owned public schools, Ashafa said: “It will not be fair for any tutor-general, principal or teacher to order any student to remove their hijab; such action amount to committing contempt of court.

The statement read: “A situation where a principal or teacher will be seen punishing, threatening, assaulting or harassing a student for wearing hijab, after the judiciary has granted it, will amount to not only contempt of court but a betrayal of literacy, ridiculing of education and an abuse of reasoning.

“We plead that all the stakeholders in education should be law abiding and practicalise what they have been teaching us as students. We commend our teachers for their efforts from inception and hope that as students’ resume, they will not demonstrate to us how to disobey the constitution and judiciary.”

ANCOPSS urges principals to allow students wear hijab

Meanwhile, the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), has asked members not to direct student to remove or seize hijab from student.

Vanguard gathered that the directive was stated in a circular sent to principals of secondary schools in the state.

Sources said the principals were directed to concentrate on their primary responsibilities of teaching and effective supervision of the students and leave religion issues.

Speaking to the National president of ANCOPSS, Mr. Anselm Izuagie, said “I will get back to you tomorrow on the issue.”

PoliticsAPC Urges PDP To Join Hands With Buhari To Ensure Prosperous Nigeria by Shaev7(op): 10:54pm On Sep 18, 2016
Abuja – The All Progressives Congress (APC), Enugu chapter, has stressed the need for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join President Muhammadu Buhari in laying solid foundation for a prosperous Nigeria.

The state’s chapter of the party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary Mrs Kate Ofor, decried “plot by PDP to bring back unbridled corruption into Nigeria.

“The plot was exemplified by PDP’s unwarranted propaganda against President Muhammadu Buhari.”

The statement explained that the scheme by PDP to bring back uncontrolled corruption made the party to keep heaping blame on President Buhari as the cause of the recession in the country.

The APC state chapter said “PDP smartly exonerated its leadership of lack of planning and squandering the resources of the nation in the last 16 years.”

According to it, the lack of planning and squandering of resources by the immediate past administration actually caused the present economic recession.

“PDP has the guts to call on President Buhari to resign for failing to fix the economy they battered during their 16 years leadership.”

The party recalled that it was during PDP government that billions of naira was stolen, thereby plunging the nation into the current economic challenge.

“In less than 20 months, PDP thought Nigerians are morons who forget so easily.’’

The APC, however, assured Nigerians that Buhari was on course in its avowed determination to fight corruption and lay solid foundation for economic prosperity of the country.

It stated that PDP was consciously or unconsciously reminding Nigerians of the economic fraud which pushed millions of Nigerians into poverty and at the same time produced the richest African.

The governing party also called on political parties, civil society organisations and patriots to rally round the president to collectively search for solutions to the economic recession.

Arsene Wenger has provided the latest team update ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Hull City.
The Gunners travel to the KC Stadium after a 1-1 draw in midweek with PSG, with no new issues from Tuesday night.
“We’ve a short recovery, but everybody looks ok,” said the manager at his press conference this morning.
“Walcott could be back in the squad, I have to check how well he came out of the session today. Ramsey is, of course, still out.
“We are cautious with him because we don’t want any setback with his hamstring.
“Gabriel is back in normal training, I don’t think he’ll play tomorrow, but he might play on Tuesday.
