An Australian woman who was told
she may never fall pregnant has
given birth to twins conceived 10
days apart.
Kate Hill was receiving hormone
treatment for polycystic ovary
syndrome, a condition that left her
unable to ovulate.
She conceived twins at different times
despite only once having unprotected
sex during that period.
A rare condition known as
superfetation makes it possible to
conceive for a second time when
pregnant.
The twin girls, Charlotte and Olivia,
were born 10 months ago with
different size, weight and gestational
development.
"We actually did not realise how
special that was until they were born,"
Mrs Hill told Australia's Seven
Network.
Pregnancy normally stops the
monthly cycle of ovulation but
superfetation allows it to continue.
It is believed only 10 cases of the
phenomenon have been documented
across the world.
Speaking about the rare conception,
Mrs Hill's husband Peter joked: "Hole
in one, maybe."
The couple's obstetrician Brad
Armstrong said the condition was so
rare he was forced to search for it
online.
"I could not find any literature in the
medical review websites at all," he
said. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-37969979 CC: lalasticlala, dominique Cc: Sissy3 |

Snoop Dogg is thrilled with the news that marijuana has been legalised in California and he plans on celebrating by smoking the drug “every day” Snoop Dogg is planning on smoking marijuana “every day” now that the drug is legalised in California. The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ rapper has led the celebrations after Proposition 64 was approved by voters, legalising the substance in the US state, as well as Massachusetts, North Dakota, Arkansas and Nevada. Snoop Dogg Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “We just legalized marijuana in Cali. # smokeweedeveryday. (sic)” Seth MacFarlane also joined in and said in light of the news that Donald Trump was elected as the president of America, at least marijuana has been made legal for recreational use. The ‘Family Guy’ creator wrote: “At least pot’s legal. (sic)” Snoop, 43, has been open about his personal drug use in the past and is a keen advocate of cannabis, which he is legally allowed to use to treat migraines in California. And in 2013, Snoop confessed to smoking up to 80 cannabis blunts per day, adding he would “love” to show his kids Cordé, 22, Cordell, 19 and Cori, 17, how to smoke the substance “the right way”. He said: “It’s not that I would ever push weed on our kids. But if they wanted to, I would love to show them how, the right way, so that way they won’t get nothing put in their shit or overdose or trying some shit that ain’t clean.” Last year, Snoop – whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr – launched his own line of Cannabis- related products called Leafs. Snoop insists he carefully selected the collection, which includes cannabis- infused foods, hand-weighed marijuana flowers and hash oils. At the time, he said: “It’s a true blessing that I can share the products I love so much with y’all today. OLUFEMI ATOYEBI, who visited the scene where four pupils of the Federal Government Girls College, Oyo died on Sunday, writes on sour mood of the school community The road leading to the Federal Government Girls College, Oyo from the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, is in a deplorable state. This is the road of death that led to the demise of four pupils of the school on Sunday. They were returning to the school after a mid-term break when the bus they had boarded from Owode area of Oyo was involved in a fatal accident at Sabo market, Isale-Oyo, a few kilometres away from the school. There were nine pupils, a parent and the driver in the bus when the accident happened. Olubukola John, SS3; Taibat Giwa SS3; Mojisola Ladipo, SS1; and Mariam Ibirogba JSS 3; and the bus driver died in the accident while five SS3 pupils; Boluwatife Oyega, Hiba Hamzat, Mariam Olakekan, Tawakalitu Adewale and Feyi Akinola survived with varying degrees of injuries. Our correspondent who visited the school observed that the drainage system on both sides of the single carriage way leading to Isale-Oyo had completely collapsed and erosion had eaten deep into the road. At night, it is easy for a first time passerby to run into the ditch below the gaping pot- holes that are common features on the road. The road leading to the FGGC passes through a busy Sabo Market where the accident occurred. The road is narrow and almost impassable. It can best be described as a death trap. Yet, this is the road that leads to a major school where thousands of Nigerian girls are moulded into adulthood. It was the first time that the school had recorded such tragedy but indeed, it was a calamity waiting to happen. There are varying accounts of how the accident happened, but parents who witnessed the incident gave a common account, blaming government for neglecting the road, and the driver of the truck that fell on the bus conveying the children, for being greedy. One of the parents, Amos Ishola, who spoke on behalf of the Parents Teachers Association, said he would have died before the girls arrived at the scene that consumed them. “I am the luckiest survivor of the accident because today, people would have been mourning my passage if I had moved a foot further when I approached the market. “I left Ibadan on Sunday and decided to drive my daughter back to school immediately after church service. I left with a church member and her daughter. When we got to the market in Isale-Oyo, the woman in my car begged me to stop for her to buy some household needs for her daughter, so I parked beside the road. The bus carrying the girls was directly behind me but when I parked, it overtook me and stopped in front of me because of the oncoming truck. “The door of the bus was not locked so I saw some of the pupils who knew me and they greeted me. One of them was Hiba Hamzat who also survived. She sat at the back of the bus. “The truck was trying to manoeuvre its way along the bad and narrow road. Suddenly, the container strapped to the back of the truck gave way because of the over-load and fell on the bus conveying the pupils. It took a long time to offload the truck while the children were trapped under it. “They had to use chain to lift the truck off the bus. When I saw the truck falling, I thought all the occupants of the bus were dead. It was a terrible and gory scene and I am yet to come out of the trauma. If I close, my eyes, the scene reappears like a dream.” Ishola said many sympathisers came to rescue the girls and that the incident was clearly avoidable. “As parents, our hearts are heavy and seriously bleeding. These were pupils preparing for final examinations. ‘Development has consumed the market’ When it started, it was sited away from the city but development has caught up with it. Ishola said, “It is a shame that one has to pass through a disorganised market and completely bad road to a school as popular as FGGC. When you hear the name of the school and you decide to visit, you will be disappointed with the road leading to it. Government should address this. If the market cannot be moved, the school should be linked to the federal highway that is being constructed so that those going to the school can have smooth ride free of dangers of Isale Oyo market road. “For the sake of the future and the children, government should act appropriately to address this issue. I heard that they quickly poured sound to block the pot holes that caused the death of the children after the accident. It is a shame that we always have to wait for tragedy to happen before we act.” Mrs. Oluwakemi Awolola has a daughter in the school. On the day that the five pupils died in the accident, she was on a commercial motorcycle at the scene and she was the first to alert the school to the tragedy. From her account, she and her daughter would have been victims. She said, “My daughter attends this school and two of my siblings also attended the school. It was traumatic that I witnessed the accident leading to the death of these girls. “I was taking my daughter back to school on the day of the accident. When we got to Sabo Market, I noticed that there was a long queue of vehicles, so I asked the rider of the commercial motorcycle I boarded to manoeuvre his way so that we could move on. The over-loaded truck carrying the food stuff was in front of us. As soon as we passed, the incident happened. I saw the whole incident when it happened. I immediately called my daughter’s guardian in the school to report what had happened.” Despite the true account of the accident from parents who saw it all, rumour spread that the children were sent out of the school to go and plait their hair after returning from the mid-term break. Awolola defended the school. According to her, her daughter and her siblings had never complained of being sent out to plait their hair. “It is a lie that the school asked the girls to go and plait their hair when the accident happened. It is a rumour or fabrication of some people who were bent on spreading falsehood. The children were actually coming from home to resume after the mid- term break. That was why most of the luggage found in the wreckage of the vehicle they boarded contained personal effects and beverages,” she explained. A member of staff of the school, who said he was not authorised to speak on behalf of the management, also dismissed the rumour. He gave reason for buying the four victims were buried in Oyo instead of taking their corpses back to their homes. “We decided to bury the dead in Oyo because their parents agreed to the decision. When the incident happened, we quickly rushed to the scene to ascertain the situation as regards the condition of the girls. The survivors were able to tell us the names of those that died.” Having got the names of the victims, the staff said the school contacted the parents through the files of the deceased and the survivors. He said one of the parents, Mr. John, who is a policeman, came from Ibadan on the day of the accident after he was contacted. “He was traumatised and in obviously bad physical shape. He wept uncontrollably over the death of his daughter who was preparing to sit the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination like others. Another parent who lost a JSS3 pupil also rushed to Oyo from Ibadan. Like Mr John, it was difficult to console him. We had to ask a staff member to assist by driving him back to Ibadan because considering his state of mind, we could not allow him to drive himself back. “Relations and friends of those involved in the accident trooped to the school on Monday and it was a day to forget quickly. Tears flowed as the school mourned the deceased.” Our correspondent learnt that one of the dead pupils, Tayyibat Giwa, was a daughter of a former staff of the school that had been transferred to Federal School of Science, Technical, in Ilesa. Traumatised by the incident, she was unable to attend the burial but some of her relations came. The staff stated further that the Muslim community in Isale-Oyo and Oyo chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria supported the school during the burial. “During the burial, we insisted that the relations of the deceased be present. The Muslim community in Isale Oyo assisted the school while the Christ Apostolic Church, Oyo, with permission from the Oyo chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, conducted prayers for the Christians among the deceased.” Asked what the state of medical facility http://www.punchng.com/deceased-oyo-fgc-girls-survived-rescued-time-eyewitness/ Cc: lalasticlala, Seun Justwise, DisGuy |
Eating the right foods can help
strengthen your child’s immune
system and prevent colds and flu.
Read our top tips for keeping your
kids healthy this winter.
When working properly, our immune
system is designed to fight disease
and keep bacteria and viruses at bay.
If weakened at any time, we and our
children are more vulnerable and
susceptible to colds, flu or any serious
illness. We’re surrounded by bugs and
germs in our everyday lives and this
exposure can actually strengthen our
child’s immune system. There are
however, other key points that we can
implement to give our kids the boost
they need to fight infections.
So, here are my top tips to boost your
child’s immune system:
Oily fish
Omega-3 fatty acids have many health
benefits and are found in oily fish
(salmon, mackerel, herring, fresh
tuna), vegetable and rapeseed oils,
walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, flaxseeds
and green leafy vegetables. White fish
(like haddock, plaice, cod and coley)
also contain some omega-3 albeit in
lower doses. Try and include fish in
your child's diet twice a week, one
portion oily and the other white.
Some small studies have found
omega-3 may also be beneficial for
fighting infection in children. If your
child isn't a fan of fish then Salmon
fingers , potato fish cakes , cod bites or
salmon fajitas are all hits at meal
times. An important point about nuts
– children under five years old should
not have whole nuts because of the
risk of choking and inhalation. For
babies over six months of age, if they
don’t have an allergy, nuts can be
given but make sure they are finely
ground.
Eat a rainbow
Let little ones enjoy the colours of a
rainbow when it comes to fruit and
vegetables. All fruits and vegetables
offer different vitamins and minerals,
so it is important that your child gets a
good variety, in particular vitamin C
and carotenoids which are
responsible for the red, yellow and
orange hues in many fruits and
vegetables. We know these
phytonutrients have immune
boosting qualities that help the body
create more white blood cells which
are responsible for fighting infection.
Aim to serve your children five
portions of fruit and vegetables a day.
Whether they’re fresh, frozen, tinned
(in own juice) or dried, they can be
incorporated into their main meals,
puddings, snacks or small smoothies.
See our healthy recipes for kids for
more inspiration.
The secret of sleep
Boost their sleep time. It’s well
recognised that sleep deprivation can
make children more susceptible to
illness by reducing their natural killer
cells that help the immune system
fight infection. The amount of sleep
children need very much depends on
their age. As a general rule newborns
need 18 hours a day, toddlers up to
13 hours and three to twelve year olds
up to 12 hours a day.
Breastfeeding
If you are able to breastfeed your
baby, then continue for as long as you
and your baby are happy. We often
hear about the rich nutritional and
immune enhancing benefits of breast
milk and are all encouraged to
breastfeed our newborns. What we’re
not told, is that it is very difficult and it
doesn’t come easy to many mums. So
my advice to you is to try and
persevere for as long as you can, but
to remember that breastfeeding isn't
essential for a baby to be happy and
healthy, and that if it doesn't work out
that's fine too. Even if it’s for a few
days, your baby will receive the rich
source of anti-bodies and white blood
cells found in breast milk. These will
be essential for the development of a
healthy developing immune system.
The truth about superfood
A healthy diet is all about eating a
variety of foods and not concentrating
on one specific ‘magic superfood’. We
know there is no such thing as a
superfood and one fruit, vegetable or
grain isn’t any better than another. So
make sure you offer your kids a range
of wholegrains, meat, fish, legumes in
addition to the fruit and vegetables
mentioned above.
There is no specific food that will
prevent your kids from getting colds
or flu, however you can still make
sure their diet is optimised and full of
goodness, which is essential to
developing an immune system that is
healthy and remains strong. bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/how-boost-your-childs-immune-system cc; lalasticlala, Seun |
A North Carolina police officer has
been terminated after shooting her
own daughter. She was showing off
her service weapon to guests at her
home when the girl was shot in the
abdomen.
A Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy is
facing a double tragedy after
accidentally shooting her daughter
with her service firearm while off-
duty. Misty Michelle Flowers allegedly
had friends to her home Saturday
night and was showing her service
weapon to them when she
accidentally fired.
The bullet traveled through a wall and
hit her 11-year-old daughter in the
abdomen, the Shelby Star reported .
The girl is expected to recover, unlike
her mother’s career.
As a result, Flowers has been
terminated and is being investigated
by the State Bureau of Investigation. While it is not uncommon for officers to bring their service weapons home with them after a shift, the sheriff’s office’s policy states, “ Members shall ensure that all firearms and ammunition are locked and secured while in their homes. ” In addition, the policy manual states: “Members should be aware that negligent storage of a firearm could result in civil liability. ” Lincoln County Sheriff David Carpenter has made efforts to distance his department from Flowers’ actions, saying, " I find gross negligence and disregard for the safety of others over what transpired Saturday. ” He also reiterated how the department’s policy on storing firearms had been made clear, saying basic firearm safety measures are "included in hundreds and hundreds of hours of training they received during basic law enforcement training and also during service training.” Flowers had been with the department since August 2015. She was terminated on Monday while at the hospital. https://www.rt.com/usa/364905-nc-police-shoots-daughter/ CC; lalasticlala, Seun |

A Malaysian woman has been
released from police custody after she
chained her 8-year-old daughter’s leg
to a lamp post as a form of
punishment.
The 30-year-old mother was
questioned by police in the city of
Petaling Jaya after locals reported the
incident to the authorities on
Wednesday.
"When our men arrived at the scene,
a group of people had already
gathered around the girl who was
chained to a pole," assistant police
commander Mohammad Azlin Sadari
said.
The mother arrived soon after and
admitted she had chained her
daughter up as a punishment when
she refused to go to school.
Images of the chained girl were
circulated on social media, showing
the uniformed child crying and
sucking her thumb.
Police took the mother and her
daughter to the Subang Jaya police
station for questioning.
“We established that it was the first
time the girl was chained,” Azlin
Sadari explained. “It was decided to
let the mother go home with her
daughter, warning her not to do it
again.”
Police say they are investigating the
mother for neglect and exposure of a
child to physical injury under Section
31(1)(a)of the 2001 Child Act.
One of Malaysia's leading
psychologists, Dr Abdul Kadir Abu
Bakar, told the Straits Times that such
a punishment was "obviously wrong."
"It may be counter-productive and
jeopardize their learning abilities," he
said. "Punishment will only make the
child fear school more." https://www.rt.com/viral/364590-mother-chains-daughter-pole/ cc: lalasticlacla, Seun CC: osystein

A burial slab believed to have held the
body of Jesus Christ before he was
resurrected has been uncovered for
the first time in centuries by a
restoration team in Jerusalem.
The original limestone shelf, known as
a “burial bed,” was exposed during
the restoration of the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre after being covered by
marble since at least 1555 A.D.
“It will be a long scientific analysis, but
we will finally be able to see the
original rock surface on which,
according to tradition, the body of
Christ was laid,” Fredrik Hiebert, an
archaeologist involved in the
discovery, told National Geographic.
According to scripture, Jesus Christ
was laid on the shelf in the tomb after
dying at the crucifixion around 33 A.D.
After three days his remains were
discovered to be missing and Jesus
was said to have appeared over a
span of 40 days before ascending into
heaven.
The discovery was made by a team of
scientists from the National Technical
University of Athens (NTU) who were
making restorations to the Edicule
(“little house” ), a structure which had
been built around the tomb.
Researchers now hope to study the
original surface to better understand
the original tomb and how it evolved
to become one of the most sacred
sites in Christendom.
"We are at the critical moment for
rehabilitating the Edicule," Chief
Scientific Supervisor Professor Antonia
Moropoulou told National
Geographic. "The techniques we're
using to document this unique
monument will enable the world to
study our findings as if they
themselves were in the tomb of
Christ."
The newly-uncovered surface was
described as having a grey-beige
stone surface.
The church is located where
Jesus died and was buried (his
tomb was around the corner,
but this is what it would have
looked like back then) Also known as the Church of the
Resurrection, its custody is shared
between six Christian sects including
the Greek Orthodox Church, the
Roman Catholic Church and the
Armenian Orthodox Church, whom
together invited the NTU to undertake
the restoration.
At a cost of US$4 million, (€3.7
million) the restoration was not
cheap, with major donors including
Jordan's King Abdullah II and Mica
Ertegun, widow of Atlantic Records co-
founder Ahmet Ertegun. https://www.rt.com/viral/364316-jesus-christs-burial-slab/ cc; lalasticlacla, OAM4J CC; SEUN |

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has, Monday, said that he was never elected as Nigeria’s president to spread poverty but to generate and spread wealth. Former President Jonathan giving his speech at Oxford Jonathan who spoke at the Oxford Union, with the theme ‘Fostering Youth Entrepreneurship, and succeeding US Secretary of State who spoke at the same event in May this year, said that only being entrepreneurial can completely cure poverty and not having a job or working for someone. “I once said that I was not elected President of Nigeria to spread poverty; I was elected to generate and spread wealth.” “My belief in this regard is that getting a job or being a worker cannot completely cure the disease of poverty. It is only your own business that can provide such security and give you the financial freedom you need to prosper.” Dr. Jonathan, whose speech was streamed live, rhetorically queried his audience asking why some nations are rich and others remain poor. Former President Jonathan giving his speech at Oxford ”Why are some nations rich and some poor? Why do individuals that grow up in similar circumstances end up differently, with some as successes and others as failures?” “Is the wealth of nations a result of geography, weather, culture, destiny, etc.? What could a leader do to effectively lift a people out of the depths of poverty and enable them to achieve prosperity?” asked Jonathan. The former Nigerian leader talked about youth entrepreneurship programs his administration pioneered, saying that one of them, YouWIN, was a major plank of his job creation efforts. “The motivation for this program is for young people to go into SMEs, create jobs for other young people with the expectation that some would grow to large scale businesses” Dr. Jonathan said. He concluded his speech by giving a short brief of his achievements in the economic sphere, saying, “Under my watch, Nigeria was projected by CNN Money to be the third fastest growing economy in the world for the year 2015 and rated as the largest economy in Africa and the 23rd largest in the world by the World Bank and the IMF, with a GDP above half a Trillion US dollars.” Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan with some students at Oxford The speech was streamed live via Dr. Jonathan’s Facebook page and will be hosted on the Oxford Union’s site. Previous speakers at the Oxford Union include the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, author of 48 laws of power, Robert Greene, the Dalai Lama, former British prime ministers Winston Churchill, Edward Heath, Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Others were Mother Teresa and former US presidents Richard Nixon (November 1978), Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton.htt http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/elected-president-spread-wealth-not-poverty-jonathan/ cc: lalasticlacla, Seun Mynd44 |
CHIJIOKE1314:Bro help me tell that guy! They seem not to know the status of some prominent King in Nigeria. People just come here and make senseless comment. |
The safe return of abducted 21 Chibok
girls may have exposed the defThe
safe return of abducted 21 Chibok
girls may have exposed the
deficiencies in Nigeria’s educational
system and sparked renewed calls for
the education of the girl-child.
Their message came loud and clear.
They don’t only need your prayers,
pity and empathy, they also need your
help to get good education. That was
the summary of Rebecca Manu’s
speech last Wednesday at the press
gallery of the Council Chambers of the
Presidential Villa, Abuja. Manu is one of the released 21 Chibok girls abducted over two years ago, precisely on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State. She spoke on behalf of the freed girls. She showed enthusiasm and passion for knowledge. She must have felt elated to speak before a large audience comprising President Muhammdu Buhari, his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and cabinet ministers. Manu entertained the crowd and at the same time provoked some skepticism on their educational background. She made several slips while reading her script. Easily noticeable was the repetition of the word “OK!”. Again, Manu, several times said “and then after that”, a phrase that apparently indicated that she was so coached or guided. Very well then. Did she memorize the speech or were all those phrases written on the paper she had? Only Manu could answer the question. But those details didn’t matter. And it also didn’t matter if the girls were preparing for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, SSCE, organized by West African Examination Council, WAEC, before they were abducted. Whether they could speak good English as would-be secondary school leavers was also inconsequential; after all, two years and six months in captivity would have dealt with their psyche and mental competences. What mattered was that by inference, Manu made her point very clear: they needed to be roundly educated. To them, returning home alive and healthy was a miracle. According to Manu, they had given up on their return to their parents. But God’s grace, the relentless efforts and commitment of Buhari on security matters paid off. Starting off with two Christian songs which she led for the girls, she also called for prayers for their colleagues still in captivity. “We are happy for seeing this wonderful day because we didn’t know we could come back to be members of Nigeria. Let us thank God for His love. Let us pray for the rest of the girls still in Sambisa. Let God help”, she said. How they were catered for Anyone who saw the girls on the first day of their release, penultimate Wednesday, would commend the Federal Government for the attention they were given. Their looks gave them away as people who had just returned from the land of the “dead”. They looked haggard and emaciated but within one week, the girls’ body symmetry stood out. Said the minister of women affairs, Mrs. Aisha Al-Hassan, who spoke at the occasion: “This indeed a moment that we have been eagerly waiting for. The date 13 October; 2016, will remain a significant one in the annals of history. “All the 21 girls came back looking haggard, weak and emancipated. Doctors were immediately dispatched to examine them and provide prompt medical assistance. Also, personal personal supplies like clothings, toiletries and others were provided fir them. The girls parents were also brought in from Chibok, Borno State. Uncontrolled emotions when the parents met with them. Send them abroad to study – Chibok local government Chairman To underscore the importance of the girls’ education, representative of the girls’ parents and Chairman of Chibok local government area, Mr. Ya’aga Yarakuwu, expressed gratitude to God, the President and the Nigerian security apparatus for ensuring the safe return of the girls. While highlighting the challenges bedeviling the community which he said included lack of roads and schools, Yarakuwa appealed to Buhari to come to the aid of the community, urging for deployment of more security personnel to the area. He appealed to the President to take the girls abroad to further their education even as he stated that most of the girls’ parents were dead as a result of high blood pressure. Osinbajo takes roll call The day also reminded Osinbajo, an academician, who said that “once a teacher, always a teacher”, as he performed the task of formally presenting the girls to the President. He recalled that the whole country was emotional as they received the girls upon their return. Your worst days ‘re over/govt to take over your education-Buhari In a voice laden with emotions, Buhari, while receiving the girls, stated that the girls had seen the worst of things the world had to offer. Imagining the horrible experience the girls must have had in the hands of the insurgents for over two years, he, however, said that the worst days were over, promising a new dawn for the girls “These 21 girls will be given adequate and comprehensive medical, nutritional and psychological care and support. The Federal Government will rehabilitate them, and ensure that their reintegration back to the society is done as quickly as possible,”the President said. “Aside from rescuing them, we are assuming the responsibility for their personal, educational and professional goals and ambitions in life. Obviously, it is not late for the girls to go back to school and continue the pursuit of their studies. “These dear daughters of ours have seen the worst that the world has to offer. It is now time for them to experience the best that the world can do for them. The Government and all Nigerians must encourage them to achieve their desired ambitions”. Buhari also revealed that the girls’ release was a product of negotiations between government, Boko Haram and some international agencies. “The release of these 21 girls followed a series of negotiations between Government and the Boko Haram group, brokered by our friends both local and International. Since this Administration assumed office, we have been working towards the safe release of the girls. “The DSS, military and other security agencies have spared no effort to secure our girls. These 21 girls are the manifestation of our doggedness and commitments to the release and return of the Chibok girls.” ‘The rest of girls would be rescued’ The President also pledged a renewed effort that would see the return of the remaining girls while thanking their parents for their patience and understanding. “While joining their parents to rejoice and praise the Almighty, we shall redouble efforts to ensure that we fulfill our pledge of bringing the remaining girls back home. Already, the credible first step has been taken and Government will sustain the effort until all the remaining girls return safely”, Buhari said. “The Federal Government appreciates the patience and understanding of the parents of all the abducted Chibok girls. We equally thank Nigerians and the International Community for their support and prayers, and for never losing confidence in our ability to secure the safe release of our girls. “Once again, I congratulate the 21 released girls, their parents, the Chibok community, our security agencies and all Nigerians on this day of delight and rejoicing.” Last line As Manu spoke, my eyes spotted Alhaji Adamu Adamu, the minister of education who seated on the high table with Buhari. He never smiled. His mind must have been running riot as he wondered if the girls would have passed their physics and chemistry subjects and in flying colors. But then, the development has thrown up a big challenge to the government that there is need to education the Nigerian child, not just the girl alone for brighter future of the country. Thank goodness that the President who has children who are graduates, was also there to see and hear for himself. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/send-chibok-girls-abroad-study-lg-chairman/ cc: lalasticlacla, Seun |

UGHELLI – LESS than 24 hours after it attacked a crude oil delivery line supplying products to the Ughelli Quality Control Center, QCC, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, NDGJM, Friday night said it has bombed the Oviri-Ogor delivery line to the QCC operated by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, NPDC and Shoreline, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State. The attack is coming on the heels of the arrest of four suspects in connection with the last Thursday’s hit on the delivery line at Iwhremaro community, Ughelli by troops of the 222 Battalion where they are being held and undergoing interrogation according to a senior police officer at the Ughelli Area Command. NDGJM in a statement by its spokesperson, self style General Aldo Agbalaja, explained that the attack was in further execution of its “Operation Hammurabi Code” which was launched with the Thursday’s attack. Giving details of Friday’s attack, Agbalaja said: “the Akuma Strike Team, at about 2300hour of Friday, October 14, 2016, bombed the Oviri- Ogor delivery line to the QCC in Ughelli. “This is a message to, not just Shoreline and NPDC, the operators of this facility, but to all of you who own facilities in the upland area of our land and are still believing in the arms of flesh. “This shall be the state of affairs until all of you adjust to taking our land and the lives of our people seriously. The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate is not kidding with anybody and anybody should not think this is just one of those coming around to beg for a morsel of bread. Start a real and genuine engagement of real grass rooted leaders from the region, not the divide-and-rule pattern, and this campaign shall cease. …Warns Army against going after innocent people “We, however, want to serve a warning to the Nigerian armed forces, don’t want to use this to start going after innocent community people. If you come in contact with us, it will not be a case of arrest, but a test of arms strength; such an encounter will undoubtedly result to a fight, so be warned.” …Attacked line not in use- JTF However, the Acting spokesman of the Joint Task Force, JTF, code-named Operation Delta Sate, Thomas Otuji downplayed the effect of the attack stating that the affected line was disused and had been breached earlier. “There was an attack on an old pipeline earlier vandalised. No product running in it. Troops on the trail to ascertain the identity of the criminals”, he said http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/breaking-militants-attack-another-crude-oil-delivery-line-delta/ cc: lalasticlacla, Seun |
