azpekuliar: @ OP.. 280km/h is nothing! Rider factor though. Watch this highway battle from Turkey between a Honda CBR1000RR and a BMW S1000RR. Pretty sure the loser rider here (the S1000RR) would still have handed the R8 it's bottom.
280km/h is NOT nothing on a busy public road such as in the OP's video. Things could have gone very bad very quickly and chances of survival at those speeds for both driver and riders could have been zero if one of those 18-wheelers was involved.
The Audi took them both out fair and square as he didn't have any road condition advantage over the bikers...Same road/Same traffic/Same obstacles etc.
Are there cars that are faster than bikes? YES Can a driver travel faster than a rider? YES Would different riders handling the bikes have prevailed over the Audi? Probably, but if you put a pro on the bikes, also put a pro in the Audi.
Tried this once with an SLS AMG and me riding a Yamaha R1. Straight, flat smooth road. I edged ahead of him at take-off but he kept DIRECTLY on my tail till 270km/h. I grew a brain and let him pass as it wouldn't have been a pretty pic if we needed to slow and he..............
Siena: There's an old Ford Granada-based hearse, in standard black, that used to roll about in my old neighbourhood. I remember it, because the license plate was, wait for it... ...D3ATH. So it actually read as "DEATH". I posted a picture of it here on Nairaland, I'll try digging it out.
cdoffx: I am planning to get a power bike sometimes early nxt year after completing my service year by Feb/Mar.
1. Is my budget reasonable to get a good power bike. 2. Can those bikes i saw on OLX for as low as 100, 110, 150k be really true
First things first: get proper superbike training. Chaps are charging between 40-80k for 4 lessons after which you should be proficient enough to get out on the road. After or during lessons you can then decide on the type of bike that suits your aspirations (road, sport, cruiser etc) I wouldn't recommend a 100k bike. Up your budget to say 250 and you should get something reasonable.
Also plan to get proper gear like helmets, jacket, boots and gloves.
Your riding school will answer all questions asked here and more.
holadipo: Would like to upgrade my dashboard console @234 give us price @shagati thanks, pls givevus an idea of d weight n shipping cost of the items, headlight n shocks
Shipping to Lagos was about 80 Pounds. Can't remember weight. Note that I purchased through my UK agent who received goods first at his Dartford address and then transferred to Lagos.
IHate9ja1: Questions for Saturday(tomoro)... 1. Is there a means one can import a bike @ an affordable price from abroad? 2. Can a 300cc bike e.g kawasaki 300 make a trip such as the likes of the just concluded bikers convention....(long trips)? 3. Which bike brand do you see as the best/prefer? 4. Best elated & memorable experience? 5. What is the longest trip your av done within Nigeria?
Maybe you should get an hayabusa....lol #salutes
1. Not sure what you mean by affordable but yes! 2. Someone (or more) has ridden the entire length of South America to North America (20,000km+) on a Honda 125cc bike. You know the saying about elède á de Oyo....? 3. No bike brand is the best. Many brands are good at many things. All depends on what you want. 4. None sticks out. All rides are memorable. Maybe when I do the Lagos-London-Lagos trip 5. Lagos-Uyo-Lagos (1600km) round trip
A 'Busa doesn't fit my style of riding right now. This isn't saying there is no possibility.
IHate9ja1: @ Shagati.........Questions 1. How many years experience do you av riding a superbike? 2. How many of them have you owned so far? 3. Despite the fatal accidents experieenced by bike riders, what has been your sources of motivation to keep riding(what has kept you going)? 4. For how long do you wish to keep riding/do you intend to retire from biking? 5. What has been the longest period you abstained from riding your bike?
You don come again 1. First rode a sports bike (Honda CBR 250) in 1997. Owned a bike continously since 2003 2. I think I am on my 9th bike. #10 loading Suzuki GSX-F Kawasaki ZX-7 2002 Kawasaki ZX6-R 2001 Yamaha R1 Suzuki Dakar 650 2004 Yamaha FZ1 2008 Yamaha R1 2008 Yamaha FZ1 2013 BMW R1200GS 3. Lack of crashing(?) 4. Till I can't ride anymore 5. 10 months in 2007. I was bikeless and broke. First cash I made, I bought a bike.
mekzyjoe: MR MAN I TINK U R DUMB FOR DIS AMOUNT U R OFFERIN..IF U KNOW U DNT AV MONEY, Y NOT USE UR 350K TO BUY KEKE FOR URSEF..WE SHUD SOMTIMES USE OUR BRAIN IN D WAY WE DO TINS
^^^Lol! That is a vexed man there.
@ lomomike and uboma, mirroring the view of other previous posters, "funny sound from the engine" is as close to full disclosure as it gets. Price is cheap, intending buyer would inspect, weigh his options and pay if all boxes are ticked.
It sure sounds a lot better than "owner is relocating abroad hence the sale" for a car that will make you spend 25 days in a month at the mech's.
Ps: yes I would buy a lemon if the stars are aligned.
Mummy drove the car for 16 years without EVER engaging 5th gear. It was when I took the car over that I saw the 5-speed badge in the glove and wondered what it meant. So on Lagos-Ibadan expressway one day I attempted it and voila! GEAR 5!!
The air-conditioning worked till the very last day. Sold it for N50,000 in 1998
JustIce5: These were all 'real' hardcore bikers. No disrespect to Mr Charles Oputa but these were no 'lifestyle' riders. The Truck belongs to a much known and internationally famous biker from Port Harcourt. He could have ridden down with the rest of his crew but he chose to truck his bike and thank God that he did. The truck came in handy repeatedly
Mr JustIce5....4 years as a registered Nlander and your first post is today? I suspect you
mikron: Nice bikes, I plan owning one soonest. I love those types with big front tyre and a small rear tyre. The type u see on bikers build off on discovery Channel, those types wrestlers and those Texas body builders love riding. Damn I'm sooo much in love with them. BTW does that blue truck belong to charley boy? It has his staff of office all over the ride. I mean the skull symbol
NO it doesnt belong to C. Boy!!! It belongs to e renowned Nigeria based artist of international repute who has held exhibitions locally and internationally. He has apparently retained his love of bikes and trucks. I will ask his permission to post his pictures and profile here.
PS: He is a member of the HARDRIDAZ Motorcycle Club
