Rear shock removal and prepping the new one(s)
|
Been following this thread silently. Saw the red V6 XLE below on Herbert Macauley earlier today. Nice LEDs at the rear and aftermarket wheels. Sorry didn't get the wheels ![]()

Installed the four shock absorbers today. I must tell you, the ride is completely DIFFERENT! Took it to my mechanic's place in Oregun for the job. The rears are incredibly easy to dismantle and reinstall. Both took all of 20 minutes total! The front? That's another story....... ![]() Pictures to follow when I get to the computer shortly. Used the oppprtunity to get rid of the annoying brake pad wear sensor light on the dash even though pads were new. Replaced the front sensor which was the culprit. |
NadiaSA1: Shagati I see u mr.biker longest timeYes it has been a while. How has it been? Cheers ![]() |
Fhemmmy: We have already assumed such and posted one . . . . We looking forward to doing business with you soonSeen sir. We will talk |
Fhemmmy: Thanks for your time on our thread, you are appreciated! We are dancing azonto knowing we guessed right, we will look into this and get back to you shortly, but in the meantime, please tell us where your door isLol. Sorry, Lagos |
cne010: I there should officially be a thread for bikers!I made such a request in Nov 2011 and it was pointed out that critical mass was lacking. Oh well ![]() https://www.nairaland.com/796363/inspired-chelseabmw-monitor-1-new |
Well done on opening this thread and your assumption has some merit that we (Nigerians) have fallen for the ol' Lex. Now please do non-SUV lovers (like me) a favour by profiling a 2006-08 Lexus IS 250 and/or IS 350. Door to door cost. ![]() Many thanks |
Siena: Some picturesI have always wondered, how are you able to fit more than four pictures in one post? Device enabled? Photo bucket? |
lungwun: Thanks everyone for your kind words on my car. I really do love it but haven't taken her out for a spin in a while as my registration documents aren't out yet and I wouldn't want to contribute the Abuja police's Christmas chicken fundDid you eventually change to either colour? Your post is from Dec last year Pics? |
cne010: I have seen those Bronze on some 2013 E class and they look wicked I was wondering what they would look like on the Benz w203 C class.Yes I know that colour. Searched for Bronze W203 but found nothing. Maybe not ideal? You could be the first? ![]() |
lungwun: A fellow Ci with an LSD-7 plate number. Quite fancy some items from the eBay seller you linked but the cost, oof!Doesn't have to be that seller. Just type in your required item eg "E46 wipers" into the ebay search box and sort by price, location etc. Some great deals abound especially for auction items. I don't have the heart for auctions tho'. I prefer to deal with sellers with high sales volume and ratings though. |

More Sepang Bronze I prefer the darker one on the E60 in previous post. Or is it the lighting effect?
|
cne010: Nice one boss I bet the car is enjoying your government better than the previous user cos you're really pampering it.I hope so too sir. Time, desire and finance have not really aligned to allow me do all I would wish to do. I was looking up various custom colours applicable to BMW online and Sepang Bronze was thrown up.

yungboss: how long did it take for the parts to arrive from when you made purchaseThis shipment took 18 days. I understand there were issues at the NAHCO shed. Usual shipments are anything from 6-10days |
yungboss: Nice looking ride.Thanks Boss ![]() |
In with the new. . . . . It had gone dark by the time I finished. I will take some clearer 'after' pictures during the daytime tomorrow. Installation took about 40mins for all four units (the outers and boot mounted reverse and fog light units). Suprisingly easier than i had expected. Full plug and play with no dashboard error codes (knock on wood! )

Out with the old. . . . . . . . .

Before pics. Taken to show how badly worn the oems (follow come) are. Ewww!

Yup, my long procrastinated LED tail lights! Sorry for the poor picture quality. Couldn't wait to have them installed so I just unboxed them in the poorly lit living room and took a few shots and headed outside to install pronto! Cost of the lights - £129.95 from ebay.co.uk user Energised Customs2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E46-3-SERIES-COUPE-1998-2003-RED-CLEAR-LED-STYLE-REAR-TAIL-LIGHTS-PAIR-/350978305198?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AE46&hash=item51b7efecae

Box 2 contained.....I wonder who can guess what they are? ![]()
|
Cost: Front shocks - £69.99 each Rear shocks - £33.99 each Total = £207.96 x 284 = NGN59,060.64 |
Box 1 contained the struts. I had a choice between the Bilstein and SACHS sets. Trolling through different European and Stateside BMW and specifically E46 forums revealed that the Bilsteins are sportier than the Sachs which are set up more for comfort. Naija roads are challenging enough to not add any more harshness to ride quality so I went for the Sachs
|
Replacement of the front suspension (previous posts lost during the NL apocalypse) brought to the fore the failed struts (shock absorbers). So I ordered the complete set from Eurocarparts.com using my trusted UK purchase and delivery service UK2Me. So I received two large boxes at the office today:

Localamos: Yeah. At that speed, the cabin is pressurized. And as such, your body is maintaining a harmonized velocity with the train.Bright answer sir/madam. When you're inside the train travelling at a constant 450mph, YOU are also travelling at 450mph so if you jump vertically as someone said, you will land on the same spot. If the the train is accelerating on the other hand, the speed of your body when you jumped would be relatively less than the train's current speed by the time (split second) you land and you would land (and roll violently towards the rear of the train depending on the rate of acceleration. That is why you're thrown into the back rest of your seat when a plane is taxiing for take off. Ps: No train on earth can travel at 450mph. |
