CityNG: Me: I'll tell the other guy it's sold if you can answer my questions quickly so I know you're serious. 2:44 PMYou're just evil ![]() |
rainmaker12: hello nairalanders i need help on this issue, im about to get this ride and im not so sure how durable it is. i need your experiences, is it worth it or i should not even ponder about it. tanksI would advise you to use google first and know exactly what it is you're talking about. Learn the difference between a BMW 520 and 545; differences between 4, 6 and 8 cylinders; difference between running costs and repair costs and THEN come back here and ask the question more intelligently. You're welcome |
Siena: The thing is though, I've never liked the matte finish on wheels, or bodywork. Now that you mention show-piece duties, chrome wheels will give it all the flash! ![]() Good job! |
lomomike: thats the real deal for this day glo green paint job. Chrome legs will add slwag to this buddy.I am differing here. Matte Anthracite or gunmetal to tone down the glossy green would be my choice. |
Siena: A teaser shot. Note, this is not high resolution:I guessed right ![]() https://www.nairaland.com/1528899/sienas-toyota-hilux-2.5-d-4d/6#24923073 |
Hello Sooperrescue, Great thread you have here of a great British brand. Your confidence and enthusiasm is almost infectious. It is a trait I have noticed in many RR specialists. One question, would you be willing to do a complete inspection on potential buys for clients and certify the vehicle or is this a service you currently offer? |
dumo1: Mr Shagati I really admire ur guts cos u have got balls of 9 men to embark on this journey. With all d bribery and corruption @ d borders. I enjoyed every single bit of your adventure in pictures. Looking forward to your next trip. Cheers.Thank you sir. We were a bit isolated from the 'bribery and corruption' at the borders as we insisted on doing all transactions by the book not minding time delays. Cheers |
The Nation salutes you Dr. Stella Adadevoh. But the letter was signed by a Dr. B. - A typo maybe? |
God catch you! ![]() |
sweeteasy: @shagati nice thread, I would like to make some modifications on a similar car. Can we schedule a meeting?By all means. Will send you a pm |

gabng: I have 2 units of Brand New Armoured B6 2009 B M W X5 (Black & Gray) comming into Nigeria 3rd week of july.Shouldn't they be right hand drive then? |
idealguy: Pls how/where do you buy your spare parts? I also want to get some good stuff from ebay or Amazon, but I really don't know how to go about it. Can you help?Which parts do you need? |
ademega: When and How did you learn bike ? Also , what prompted you in learning it ? And how many days did it take you to learn ?When? - 1997 How? - Cousin brought a Honda CBR250 home, handed me the keys and said "Ride!" Prompt? - Bike was available, spirit was willing and body was strong How long? - All of 5 minutes. It was intuitive. Know the position of the clutch, gear lever, throttle and brakes and off you go.....and err, watch out for everything on the road (cars, trucks, other motorcycles, pedestrians, animals and the worst of all those darn concrete road dividers and gutters). They are ALL out to KILL YOU!!! ![]() |
idealguy: NO RESPONSE YET@ lungwun @ yungboss @ Siena @ CityNG ^^^^^^ Please help a brother out Cheers |
Siena: I would even more respectfully disagree with you on this one, Shagati.Point made. There is lazy and there is LAZY! ![]() So sorry Ikenna. Keep up the good work! |
Aidy97: Smh........and ultra luxury hotels, themed resorts, malls, gold, safaris et al. No one mentioned dust in the brochure ![]() |
I didn't know they had dust in Dubai. ![]() |
Siena: It's just sheer laziness, and a desire to be spoon-fed, rather than get their hands dirty.I would respectfully disagree with you on the above Siena. As the whole world knows, the average Nigerian is not the least bit lazy. He/she is a go-getter when opportunity presents itself and even when the odds are stacked against. I think IMHO that it has more to do with knowledge and priorities. What is the incentive for a car owner in Nigeria to carry out simple DIY tasks on one's car when the labour cost to do it is almost free? I buy my service parts myself (either shipped from abroad or locally)and take it to a garage where it will cost me between N2,000 - N5,000 ($12-$30) in labour charges. You will agree that the cost of labour in saner climes is more than enough reason to adopt a DIY lifestyle. Work on car, plumbing, wood work, paint the house, garden work, baby sitting / child minding etc. My expat colleague that had a company flat in Ikoyi with car/driver, maid, cook etc moved back to Paris where she has to pay 1,500 Euros a month to get a nanny to watch her 18 month old daughter for a few hours Mon - Fri is always moaning about how she had it so easy in Naija. Let me take the example of a chap that lives in Ikeja and works in VI or Lekki; he leaves home at 6am and returns at 9pm Monday to Friday which includes time spent sitting in traffic (4-6hours/day). That leaves zero time for any DIY. Weekend comes and he either wants to catch up on some sleep or there are family commitments to attend to. You seem to forget that you're a professional mechanic and what seems like simple to you is rocket science to the average Bala, Femi, Emeka and Shagati. Lock-tite, blow torch, torx wrench, triple square bit, etc etc. Oginni?? I have a background in engineering but I have worked in Sales and Marketing all my life. I have some knowledge of how to wield a spanner plus the interest is there (priority). If I don't know, then I don't know (knowledge) |
Dsannin: @ Shagati so whats next, also whats the size of your engine, and what state do you live in? finally do you feel the difference in the change of shocks? Will take each day as it comes. Next major upgrade may be a paint job. This would have been very relevant if it had remained a weekend cruiser but as it is, the car has become a daily driver due to a reconfiguration of the 'fleet' ![]() Engine is a 2.5L inline-6 Lagos, Nigeria Regarding differences; 1. I suspect I may have gained a few millimeters in ground clearance(?). I don't scrape anymore in places where I normally used to. (Speed breakers, deep potholes etc) 2. Car no longer does a nose dive on hard braking 3. Vehicle stays flatter with less body roll on aggressive cornering. 4. Traffic light launches are more purposeful as the rear dips much less than it used to 5. Of course, going over rough patches now presents a dull thud rather than the previous clang/smash/bang/chink/crash! ![]() |
Bossforeva: is that ur BMW 325 hood?Lol, yes ![]() |
redcliff: I have no idea of the cost shipping a bike because most times they are always in a bus or truck...what i can do is to look for people who are sending empty buses to nigeria and pay for space in it..Thanks |
Who can please help out a fellow Beemer owner here with regards to an E46 engine change/swap? https://www.nairaland.com/1410627/bmw-325ci-e46-repairs-maintenance/3#25382684 His username is Idealguy |

Front reassembly

Now for the front

Pictures from down under

Comparing the pressure required to depress old vs new. Old was much easier to depress and slower to rebound Also note assembly point inside the boot
