Also mention one country that became great because its citizens and others keep calling it a useless country. Mention just one country that became great through name calling
nations who face inequalities, injustice and corruption didn't solve their problems by hiding it and pretending it doesn't exist, when south Africa faced the aperthied regime, men like nelson Mandela and black south africans spoke out, they didn't hide injustice because they didn't want to paint south Africa black, when America faced segregation, men like Martin Luther King and African Americans spoke up that was how they gained civil rights, all over the world people who face such injustice have always spoken out, by your opinion I guess nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King where painting south Africa and America black when they stood against theses issues.

That's awesome! The kind of image we want the world to see while we tackle our issues. But some people would rather be happy if Kemi keeps painting the whole country black, not understanding the implications on our diplomatic strenght. Some Nigerians are still too far from understanding global politics, maybe its because they've never had the opportunity to travel out and experience how international reputation f your country affects you as an individual
your understanding of things is flawed, has leadership in Nigeria ever made any purposeful move to tackle any issue in Nigeria, while I do not agree with paintingNigeria's image negatively out of context, if the purpose is to shine light on pertinent issues, then it's good and shouldn't be condemned, also the image the world has about Nigeria is 80 percent reality, it's not Nigerians who speak up that paint the nation black, it's the leaders.

If not that i don’t want to derail the thread, I will post over 1000 people from the south east who have been arrested all over the world for drug trafficking.

If not for the fact that shamelessness is no longer the order of the day, no single person from the SE of Nigeria should be able to come on a public forum to accuse other people of drug trafficking. We all know that 90% of drug traffickers in Africa are from a particular part of the country and they even glorify it.
every one has its major vices, we also know those who are involved in skull mining and ritual killing, but the drug trafficking region as you call it don't glorify or elect their druglords to office you come from a place where this drug Lords and frausters are not just elected to office they have also taken over your traditional institutions, no where in Nigeria do you find frausters and druglords rule as kings and political leaders than in your region yet you think you have the moral right to criticize others.

LMAO. Here comes grin grin

Tell me how many non West Africans are in Nigeria? grin. Do you have millions of horners coming at you with their own vices ?
Do you have entitled Southern Africans demanding free Healthcare, education etc from you ?
Are East Africans coming there to kidnap, rape and kill?

If you have all these ,please show me the proof and I'll delete my account grin

You can never compare the mass migration SA is experiencing with that of any other African country, not to mention the strain on the infrastructure and basic amenities ( you don't even have those for your citizens, so why would migrants come there to demand such?) grin

Yes,Nigeria is a chaotic country where every black person can come in and do as you please, and we refuse to be that.. .why not leave us alone to be what we want to be ? Stop forcing your way of life on us...we don't want to be you.

It's funny how you have Westerners in your own country telling the Easterners to go yet here you are grin grin

You have the Easterners chasing out the Fulanis ,yet you think you'd be able to tolerate Somalis and Mozambiqueans doing rubbish in your backyard grin grin

Were Ghananians white when you chased them away? grin. Just imagine, you only had Ghana as your major migrant group yet you couldn't even tolerate that cheesy. Imagine 800 000 SA,10000000 Ethiopians , 500 0000 Congolese, etc you'd have committed mass genocide by now like you attempted in Eastern Nigeria that time wink
the way you talk about kidnap and rape, like we all don't know south Africa is the HQ of it, and south Africans are the major perpetrators of this crime, south Africa is basically the femicide capital of the world, but yet you guys always make it seem like you are all saints, while every other African nationality are criminals, I am not a fan of malema's opinion of one African nation idea

Several records abound the Benin kingdom and it's history you can't bring strangers opinion and establish it as fact, my question still remains.

Benin never extended beyond Lagos Island. It is false that Benin expanded to Dahomey. The only Oba the dahomeans paid tribute to was the Alaafin. Dahomeans were conquered by Oyo during the peak of Oyo empire.
nah you kill am for ughoton? The way you speak with so much confidence, you guys always try to rewrite history I wonder why? Before ife was formed Benin kingdom already had 31 Kings and it was all by bloodline, why would Benin kingdom/ igodomigodo allow a strangers from yoruba land to come and be a king if he weren't known to them or if he weren't a family/ bloodline of the palace. The way you guys just lie to yourselves about how ife founded Benin like Benin kingdom was in existence before ife, and ife doesn't even have a direct line of succession several characters ruled over ife, a slave was once ooni, if you can stage a palace coup you get to be ooni.

If Yorubas came from Bini, how come you find Bini people with Yoruba names, but Yorubas don't bear Bini names. Obinna, I know you may not understand this logic.
there is no Benin person with a yoruba name, your argument makes no sense, ife could never have given Benin a monarchy, when ife never truly practiced monarchy, in ancient ife Kings where being made by coups even a slave once ruled ife, strangers were once ooni of ife, anyone who was strong enough to wrestle the crown from the palace automatically becomes ooni, before oduduwa Benin kingdom existed and Benin had a king can you explain why a people who already had a kingship would allow a stranger from ife to become king in Benin? Only three ways this could have happened it's either through a palace coup, a war, or the stranger was already family.

The question should be directed to the Medical directors of those institutions unless you want Tinubu to go down there, collect the payments and issue receipts himself.
I don't like it when people say things like this, so you expect Nigerians to take the law into their hands, when govs are corrupt you say the same thing, when ministers are corrupt you say the same thing, Tinubu cannot go down there but he can fight opposition, if medical directors aren't effecting his directive isn't not the duty of the minister of health to coordinate the health sector and if non is complying shouldn't they be fired or charged to court if it is a criminal offense, and if the minister isn't doing his job is it not the president's job to hold his ministers to account, if Nigerian's should take it upon themselves you would still be the first to accuse them of causing chaos and not letting the various oversight institutions do their jobs.

Had Tinubu brought you the moon, you will still find fault all over the place because you have already conditioned your mind to always condemn no matter what.

My advice to you and your kind is to try and cure yourself of all these negative mindset for your own mental health
I didn't criticise the win, I criticise you trying to put he entire achievement of the team on Tinubu's sport development initiative and I ask you one simple question what exactly was Tinubu's contribution to the teams success or sports development in Nigeria, you couldnt list one I guess if davido wins the Grammy now, you would say it was because of Tinubu's development of the entertainment sector, the only thing his administration did was payment of salary and there is hardly a nation where players are owned salaries, in every other part of the world sports development involves massive investment in sports facilities, research and development, but only in your world that sport development meansomething else. And yet you talk about having a negative mindset you are the one obviously with a negative mindset, Saudi Arabia is the host of the 2034 world cup, morrocco is hosting the 2030 world cup can Nigeria host such and event rather than join enlightened folks demand for developmental change you are busy slaving for the oppressors.

You have highlighted things that need to be done for Nigerian sport in the medium to long term and I agree with most of your analysis.

However, in this short period of time under Tinubu, I think his team in charge of sports have focused on the low hanging fruits and they have addressed some needless sporting administration problems, many of which were self-inflicted.

For example, one of the major problems Nigerians have had in the past is unpaid bonuses and allowances. In some cases, players had to threaten withdrawal of their services before they were paid. Many of such incidences are on record. You will agree with me that correcting this foundational error is the first step to remedying our sporting performance woes. You can build world class facilities and have great sports program but if you keep disrespecting your representatives their allowances and bonuses, it cannot bode well!
this is even a worthy and justifiable reply than what the other guy was saying yes, it is right that they weren't being owned salaries, and it was paid timely, that shouldn't even have happened it he first place and one of the reason is still because we set the standard so low for the leaders, under buhari's tenure I recall there were cases when the girls had to protest before being paid, but if I had criticised buhari then, folks like that other guy would have also defended buhari with one stupid logic of how buhari has done well. That's the problem we set the standard so low for the leaders.

You can see the govt investment in sports even female sports, they have standard sport facilities, they would be hosting the 2030 world cup, great youth sports program even their women coach is a FIFA women world cup winning coach with Spain while Nigeria can barely hire a first class tactician for the eagles, do you even have a well run league, or a great youth program, yet you are asking us to praise Tinubu for what exactly?

WizardOfNG:
It is either ethno-religious prejudice against PBAT or lack of knowledge of the most debilitating problems of Nigeria, and the solutions required for them, that makes you incapable of seeing what Tinubu "has done" to more than deserve a second and even third term.

As an empathetic person, I will not pretend things are not tough for ordinary Nigerians. Yet I have seen enough of the world to know how Nigerians should be living which is a million times better than how they have lived since our current democracy began in 1999.

To get ordinary Nigerians even remotely close to the standard of life some African nations are enjoying there has to be fundamental changes, needing reforms and drastic overhaul of governance policies, that will cause some suffering initially but will lead to much better lives and prospect for Nigerians in the near future.

Virtually all nations have gone through the same "sacrifice for better future" phase with many enduring hardship for decades even.

The life you people are asking Nigerians to return to, propped up by subsidies at all levels that only get a people addicted to poverty and comfortable recieving 1% from greedy and callous leaders when they need at least 80%, is not life as the world knows it.

It is not living. At all. It is merely surviving for a people weaponised poverty, through use of various government-funded subsidies, has been used to trick into thinking they ever had good lives to begin with.

Wake up. You are educated. All you had was cheap fuel with horribly inadequate transport option. Whereas many nations in the west have expensive fuel but superb and comfortable transport options available to their people courtesy of doing the right things.

While efficient transport options help those nations grow socio-economically, you in Nigerian, drunk on cheap fuel, sit in traffic for hours, courtesy of poor transport infrastructure and options, that is damaging to our economy's productivity and the ease/efficiency of doing business

You had cheap electricity bill, with many not paying anything at all, that means Nigeria will remain in darkness forever if such continues because not paying enough to re-invest successfully in the very expensive business of power generation, transmission and distribution only guarantees darkness.

Previous government have been sloppy and even disinterested in efficient tax collection. Yet you all want to japa to nation where efficient tax collection, from all those who can afford to pay such, builds world class infrastructure and social services like health care and social intervention with the UK NHS and benefit system being good examples to cite.

Your past Presidents subsidized the value of Naira artificially rather than subject it to gaining it's real comparative value that must only be improved organically via Nigeria working on a strong economy that would give Naira it real purchasing power parity strength which is what is ultimately important for national currencies.

Yet you cannot see that wholesale subsidising of the Naira, that Tinubu decided had to be stopped, mainly benefited Northern bureau de change owners, and their politico-elite bosses gaining massively while all Nigerians with legitimate business, leisure or educational interest abroad could not even get pounds, dollars etal via our official banking system.

Please what sort of nation is that when I cannot buy dollars and pounds comfortably to visit a foreign nation on holiday, when I work hard in Nigeria to deserve it, whereas if I was in the UK and looking to go on holiday to Ibiza I would only need to stroll into any high street bureau de change to buy Euros at a rate that will not be ridiculously different to the British central Bank quoted rate

I could go on all day. Suffice to say they were using you own commonwealth to keep you subdued, with various feel-good subsidies that allowed the politico-elite class to loot mercilessly, live billionaire lifestyle, while Nigerians get crumbs.

I can agree that many ordinary and uneducated Nigerians, facing severe daily challenges, won't get all I have stated above because weaponised poverty has been used to keep them less educated, less knowledgeable, less exposed, less politically sophisticated and less discerning than they need to be.

I concede it is totally understandable they may be mad with the government of PBAT from the limited view of the picture they see.

Yet, what is the excuse of educated people like you who can inspect what I wrote above to verify it as factually correct so that you can see that it is Presidents before Tinubu who actually (1) did not mean well for you or (2) lacked the balls to do what will be in the best medium to long term interest of all Nigerians.

Previous government were simply just 419ing a people they believed they have conquered with weaponised poverty akin to stuffing the mouth of a baby with a dummy to stop it crying.

It is only Tinubu, from all Presidents since 1999, that is addressing the real problems of the baby crying non-stop rather than attempting to distract it with gimmicks and insincere gestures disguised as acts of kindness.
you can keep on repeating the rubbish you just posted, talking about sacrifice for a better future, like you live under a cave, is it not the same wealth that is been mismanaged and embezzled by this same government, so what money would then be used for development, who will lead the development, with what wealth will they use to develop the nation? The national assembly is looting by budgeting billions for street light, padding the national budget, the presidency is budgeting billions for the office of his wife and renovation, over spending over 12 billion dollars on an highway that doesn't even cost as much in any country, Betta edu was caught red handed in corruption yet she wasn't punished, wike is grabbing govt land for himself and family, they have folks like you on retainer doing the dirty job, talking about sacrifice, buhari lead for eight years it was the same foolishness you all expressed then, buhari was destroying Nigeria, fools, kept calling it reform, Nigerians where dying of poverty and hardship yet you folks kept calling it reform after eight years of buhari's rule none of this idiots could list one benefit of buhari's rule, you folks know nothing about reform stop abusing that word.

Baba our reality is much different from theirs. In Nigeria we have over 250 ethnic groups, by your logic we are suppose to have 250 different countries (with some having no more than 100,000 people), would this make sense.
There is strength in number, there is strength in our diversity. Our main problem is corruption and a wide spread lack of integrity. If we fight corruption and improve our values, it would not matter at all that we are 250 different people, it would not matter so much that we are even tribalistic or whatever. Spain is an example of a European country that is not particularly homogeneous with different regional identities but their society work much better than ours. In fact most European countries are now effectively heterogeneous because of the migrants of different races present, this has not stopped them. This too should not stop us
they would always hide behind the diversity nonsense to justify failed leadership, india,China and even south Africa are heterogeneous in nature, but these countries are better developed than Nigeria, while our diversity may present a challenge, our inability to navigate it for development is on us as a people

Thats where he’s creating more problems. He campaigned with “He’ll remove subsidy immediately” so what other reality are you talking about? This same one the country is facing because someone else did or he’d remove it and once he sees the reality he’d back out? Government isn’t science where you test run for a long time before perfecting stuff for official use.
removing subsidy immediately is quite relative, when you take into consideration of the context, I have seen other interviews of obi when he talked about adjusting the subsidy removal to become a gradual process and also providing certain incentives to reduce the effect of the removal, so it is slightly ignorant when people just take his words out of context just to score cheap political points. Maybe he would have removal subsidy while maintaining exchange rate, maybe he would have faced agricultural reform to acertain level of food sustainability before removing subsidy, or maybe he would have secured a certain deal to refuse inflation.

And for you, those countries are picture perfect? Each has its challenges and all still cannot move at the same pace. Remember that Nigeria is a melting pot of over three hundred ethnicities and languages. This in itself creates a level of conflict and tension which slows development. It took Europe centuries to beat its conflicts and arrive where it is today - and Europe as a whole is not as diverse as Nigeria alone.
south Africa is diverse, so is Rwanda and most other nations of the world while every nation has its flaws only a few like Nigeria justifies it's backwardness and wants it's citizens to just settle for less and for whatever little it's leaders decide to give, those fighting for a better nigeria, those who refuse to settle for less are the true patriots.
