Verify that your computer is configured to obtain an IP address and a DNS server address automatically.

Temporarily disable your security software and see if the "no internet" problem is solved.

What kind of games do you play on it? Doesn't the system overheat?

Jedidiahworld:
Please I need ur help with my laptop model: HP 250 G4, 500GB with 4GB ram and 1.6 GHZ. It has problem connecting to WiFi I.e whenever I connect to any WiFi it will show no internet connected and also when I play any game it hangs a lot. I wanna ask if it a driver or hardware problem
ComputersRe: Problem Of Unwanted Shutting Down And Restarting by shawlxAk(m): 3:26pm On Feb 03, 2016
You didn't state what OS your PC is running.

Use System Restore to revert to a previous point in time before the problem started. Your personal data will be preserved. However, apps and drivers that were installed since the last restore point will be uninstalled, and apps that were uninstalled might be restored.

Open Control Panel > Click Recovery > Click Open System Restore. The System Restore wizard will guide through the rest of the process.

Test the system with a different charger. If the same problem occurs, test with another battery.

Pleas I need a help here, I bought Toshiba satellite, when I 1st bought it,if i power it on and plug it on the light, it can't not charge, it will be blinking white light, unless the battery crosses 60%. But if i switch off it will charge normal. I never know it was a problem. Leta once the laptop is on,it can't be working and be charging at the same time unless the battery is at 100%, if you want it to charge you switch off. The latest problem that has made me uncomfortable is that if you switch it off to allow it to charge, after like 20 mins, the power button will light up, and the power indicator will be blinking white showing it is not charging, what will I do now?

Open task manager. On the processes tab, click the Disk column header to sort processes by Disk Usage. Identify the actual process(es) that's eating up the disk.

It's overheating. If the laptop has a fan, verify that it's working properly -- not clogged with dust or broken. You may need to take your laptop to an engineer.

ComputersRe: My Laptop Doesn't Accept Password Again by shawlxAk(m): 6:05am On Feb 02, 2016
What error message did you get?

If the laptop originally came with Windows 8, did you turn off secure boot?

Go to the official website of your laptop's manufacturer and download the missing drivers.

abdultek:
Abeg una. my own system no wan gree install both windows 7 and 8. because I formatted d recovery drive and some drivers like sound, WiFi , graphics driver were missing
ComputersRe: Who Can Solve This Computer Error...? by shawlxAk(m):
The ''CMOS CHECKSUM INVALID'' message indicates that the CMOS battery may need to be replaced.

The CMOS battery is a coin cell battery that powers the CMOS RAM so as to preserve its content when the computer is turned off.

The "HP BATTERY ALERT'' message indicates that the storage capacity of the laptop battery may be low.

If your laptop cannot work without the charger plugged in, then the battery can no longer hold a charge.

Replace both batteries.

ComputersRe: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by shawlxAk(m): 2:32pm On Jan 31, 2016
Yes, you can. Before you do, verify the following.

1. Go to BIOS setup. Don't change anything. Just navigate and see if the same problem occurs.

2. Exit BIOS setup and boot into Safe Mode. Same problem or not?

3. Try a hard reset:

> Unplug the charger, remove the battery and any connected peripheral devices. Press and hold the power button for about a minute.

> Reinstall the battery, power up the computer and press the appropriate key to enter BIOS setup. Navigate to the exit tab and restore BIOS defaults. Save changes and exit. Same problem or not?

4. You might not have the necessary accessories to do this, but if you do have them, connect your PC to an external monitor (or your TV if supported).

Let me know what you notice, in each case.

ComputersPassword Hacking And You! — Secure Password Guidelines by shawlxAk(op): 5:59pm On Jan 30, 2016
It is often said that passwords should be random and complex. I agree. Nonetheless, your password should be carefully thought out. Your password should make sense — but it should make sense to you only.

For example, does "hast2hucaspk" make any sense to you? Of course, not. But it does make complete sense to me. There is absolutely no way that anyone could easily guess a password like that.

Quite a lot of users still do not understand how to choose a strong password. If your password partly or wholly contains dictionary-based words and/or personally identifiable information such as your name (or nickname), phone number, address, date of birth, etc, you may want to change it right-away.

I know, it's easy for you to remember that way, but you also make it easy for someone to break into your account via password guessing.

Even when you sign up for an online service and you are requested to select a secret question and provide an answer, it is still advisable to use a strong password.

For instance, "What is the name of your favourite movie?" You do not necessarily have to provide the actual name of your favourite movie. If you do, social engineering is all it would take to break into your account.

Social engineering involves manipulating someone into revealing private info. You could even be tricked by someone very close to you!

You can easily create a strong password, using mnemonics. In the example above, "hast2hucaspk" was derived from the first letter of each word in "Here Are Some Tips To Help You Choose A Strong Private Key"

You will always remember such a password without having to put it down somewhere, and it will be very difficult for someone to figure it out — as long as you also take basic security precautions including, but not limited to, making sure that you only log in to secure websites (https) over a secure Internet connection.

Password length matters too. The recommended minimum password length is eight characters. The lengthier, the better. If there is an option to enable two-factor authentication for your online accounts, consider enabling it.

The cost of repair would depend on how serious the problem is. If the lamp is actually dead, then the engineer would probably want to replace the entire LCD.

The problem could also just be a broken wire or a loose connection somewhere. You may want to check that out on your own first, if you can.

ComputersAttention: Windows 10 Users – Verify Your System Protection Status Asap! by shawlxAk(op): 7:28pm On Jan 27, 2016
As a Systems Engineer, I can authoritatively say that 'System Restore' is a life-saver! When your computer runs into myriads of issues after installing certain apps or drivers, the easiest way out is to reverse the changes via 'System Restore'.

If you do have a computer running Windows 10, I suggest you check your system protection status asap.

Click the start button, and start typing 'rstrui' without the quotes. When Windows presents you with a matching result, press enter. If you get a message similar to the one pictured below, follow the guide in the link below to turn on system protection.

On your laptop, you did an upgrade. On your dad's laptop, you did a clean install.

You can't go back to Windows 8 on your dad's laptop without doing another clean install.

magnificentt170:
hello all,

i downloaded windows 10 on my pc, installed it on monday, working fine so far.

I copied the downloaded files to a flash drive so as to install it on my dads laptop.

During installation, it kept asking me for product key[which it totally did not ask me for while installing on my own laptop], well, after several attempts, it finally accepted the 'skip product key input option' and it installed..

Now my problem is that: After the installation on my dads laptop[which i did on monday] i cannot see the "go back to windows 8" option at all but the "windows.old" folder is still found and accessible in the C: drive. But the option is available on my laptop.

Also, the upgrade deleted all his installed apps and settings but did not do so to my system.
P.S- We were both on windows 8 which came as default o.s. mine is hp, hs own is acer.

Please help me out, especially the option of going back to windows 8.
Thaanks guys!!!
ComputersMajor Things To Consider When Shopping For A Laptop by shawlxAk(op): 7:11pm On Jan 27, 2016
With these few tips of mine, you can never go wrong when shopping for a laptop, I assure you! Read on..

CPU

The CPU handles the essential computation tasks. The speed of a processor, measured in MHz or GHz, determines how fast the CPU can process instructions. Technically, you will get the most performance at processor speeds of 2.0GHz or higher.

Another important aspect of the CPU is its number of cores. A core is a single processing unit. The more cores that a CPU has, the more instructions that can be processed at a time. It is advisable to buy a laptop with at least two cores.

Intel or AMD?

Intel and AMD are the two known CPU manufacturers. Intel-based systems are generally faster and more power efficient, albeit expensive.

AMD-based systems are relatively less expensive. Nonetheless, they tend to consume more power and produce more heat. AMD offers better integrated graphics, but all in all, Intel is superior because of its great speed. Go for an Intel-based PC.

RAM

At least 4GB of physical RAM, short and simple. RAM is where data is temporarily held while in use. If you will be doing a lot of multi-tasking (multiple applications running simultaneously), or multimedia-related tasks like audio/photo/video editing, then you will benefit from having more physical RAM.

STORAGE

Nowadays, there are two types of PC storage drives – Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Solid State Drive (SSD). SSDs are faster, produce no noise and consume less power than the traditional HDDs. Nonetheless, SSDs are relatively more expensive and as such, most laptops still come with HDDs.

If you will be storing lots of data (videos, photos, music, etc), look for a laptop with as large a hard drive as possible. This shouldn't be a priority though, because you can always use an external storage drive.

GRAPHICS

Graphics units are either integrated or dedicated. If you will be playing 3D games a lot, consider getting a laptop with a dedicated graphics processing unit (ATI/AMD or Nvidia).

And there you have it! Good luck.

ComputersLooking To Buy A Printer For Personal Or Home Office Use? by shawlxAk(op): 10:45am On Jan 26, 2016
Ok, so you intend to purchase a printer device but you are not quite sure how to go about it? Here are some tips to guide you.

► What printer technology to go for

First, you need to be sure of what you actually need the printer for. Printer devices are basically of two types – Inkjet and Laser.

For occasional printing of documents, a standard inkjet printer device would suffice, but a standard low-end laser printer is advisable. Apart from the fact that the print heads in an inkjet printer might always need some cleaning before your next use, the ink could also dry up and you would need to buy new cartridges.

If you will be doing lots of document printing, then it's advisable to go for a standard laser printer device straightaway. Laser printers are relatively expensive, but they are more reliable and cost-effective in the long run.

In printing a lot of documents, an inkjet printer will cost you more in the long run because the ink will run out so fast and you would have to buy new cartridges more often. Laser printers make use of toner, which can last a very long time.

Note: If you are going to be doing exclusive high-quality photo printing, you should go for a dedicated photo printer device, preferably of inkjet type for better picture quality.

Next, you need to decide if you want a black-and-white or colour printer. Also, do you need a multifunction device (all-in-one) or a stand-alone printer?

ComputersProtecting Your Personal Computer Against Offline Hacks by shawlxAk(op):
It has become ridiculously easy to break into computer systems these days. All it would take for that tech-savvy friend or relative of yours to break into your computer is a Live CD or a bootable USB device.

Here are some steps to take, to mitigate such risks.

► Disable CD and USB boot options

To decrease the possibility of someone breaking into your computer system, you can start by preventing your computer from booting via CD/DVD or any other type of removable media. This is easily done in the BIOS.

► Enable supervisor password

You can set a supervisor/administrator password to control access to the BIOS setup page. When someone tries to make changes on your computer such as to modify the boot options, they would have to enter the supervisor password first. This is not the same as your regular Windows administrator password.

You may also add a power-on password which will have to be entered each time the computer is powered-on or rebooted. Both options can be configured in the BIOS.

Don't get too comfortable though. BIOS passwords can also be by-passed.

What's the ultimate solution?

Follow the link below to find out.
