“Last year Oct, Nigeria placed order for 41 containerized wagons to help transport goods by rail at a very faster speed, and support the decongestion drive of our ports. The EP70 Box Wagons, have been shipped and will be used at the newly completed Apapa Port rail.”

Who's arguing on total industrial output? I only made a valid reason on why focus shouldn't be on the value chain alone. Those metrics are actually crucial to manufacturing...

Still my man, Wuoche has submitted a more authoritative source, if the value added on net output is your main worry.
A link which totally validates my point.

Don't get carried away, this is what is categorized as manufacturing by the link.

It literally offers no a valuable assessment other than the total output through $ returns, & we know resource rich countries tend to do better in such analysis.

Instead a better measure on manufacturing is based on productivity & use of available resources, & the word economic forum has a 2019 report on Global competitiveness

Africa's top 10
1. Mauritius
2. South Africa
3. Morroco
4. Seychelles
5. Algeria
6. Botswana
7. Egypt
8. Namibia
9. Kenya
10. Rwanda

Kenya's manufacturing is way more diverse than Ghana's, it only ranks second to south africa among the countries currently here debating.
What are you talking about.

How can you be equating a WEF report with Industrial output, a lot of metrics go into measuring global competitiveness, things like government policies, institutions, enabling environment, ease of doing business.

Does Singapore have a higher industrial output than both the united states and china because it ranked first on the Global competitiveness Report??

Kenya has added 30,000km of road overnight, crazy stuff bro grin grin grin.

Rvp is probably the funniest guy on this thread, dude just whip up crazy numbers and statement out of thin air.

Very pathetic.

Kenya only added a measly 21,771 km road network since independence grin.

And paved less than 7,000km of them grin grin

Since independence!!!!

That’s more than 60 years ago shocked

rvp2018:
Old data. Kenya road network is now 200,000km. Nigeria is slightly higher - about 250k - despite being twice kenya. South Afric has 750k.
Another arse statement.

Kenya has a road network of about 177,800 km out of which only 63,575 is classified. The classified road network has increased from 41,800 km at independence to 63,575 km today, a development rate of less than 600 km per annum. During the same period, the paved road length grew from 1,811 km to 9,273 km. It is presently estimated that about 70% (44,100 km) of the classified road network is in good condition and is maintainable while the remaining 30% (18,900 km) requires rehabilitation or reconstruction.

There are as many as 4 new Deep Sea Port Projects that the Buhari administration has approved in recent years:

Lekki (ongoing)
Bonny
Warri
Ibom

The plan is for all Nigerian Rail Lines to terminate at Sea Ports (which has now been achieved with the Lagos -Ibadan rail).

rvp2018:
This year you budgeted for only 100m dollars to fix this gigantic mess.

Nigeria relies heavily on road transport with over 90% of surface transport of goods happening by road. Poor or inappropriate maintenance has caused the 200,000km road network to decay. With little strategic direction, poorly defined plans, and unstable and unsustainable budgets, the level of service for the road network is inadequate.
Cool story, will probably look good in the worst high fantasy category.

But it doesn’t belong in the realm of reality that we are.

So Ghana has a larger manufacturing industry than Kenya.

So this is your new tactics?

Is Swaziland a country?

Take South African out, all the other Southern African countries can't shake Ghana in anyway.

Botswana
Namibia and
Angola are doing fine but they can't stand Ghana.

Mind you, Ghana was one of the few countries that helped South Africa to overcome Apartheid.
I really wish people would stop emphasizing on this.

NOTHING to see. YOU DON'T LEAD US IN ANY MEANINGFUL STATS. We've CATEGORICALLY proved that repeatedly in the 5 yrs in this thread.

I can't get anything recent but the figures match the reality. Go to steel Statistical Yearbook 2017,page 88,apparent steel use Per Capita. Idk why but 2018 isn't opening.
https://www.worldsteel.org/steel-by-topic/statistics/steel-statistical-yearbook.html

This metric is underated yet crucial like cement usage-it can't be faked! an interesting read-you can see how RSA steel use fell 10% in 2010. The massive stadium building projects for the WC were completed so ofc steel use fell accordingly.

This 2007-2016 period has us ahead though the margin falls later. Also ASC,apparent steel use, finished steel products is 27.5 in 2017 on knoema yours barely 10.5 on foramfera, a Naij site.
You don’t lead Nigeria on any meaningful stat old man stop pulling statement out of your arse like rvp.

Stop bringing up per capita, small Djibouti has a bigger apparent steel use than any other country in Africa, does that translate to them being bigger in production and consumption??

And we’ve already establish it Kenya steel consumption is 1.6 milllion tones, any other thing apart from that is a deluded fantasy.
