Baller254:
.
my point exactly not just any country
for a west african visa to be processed all the way to east africa, and you say this city is of no influence?
Lmao..Wetin be this.

Nigerian visas get processed in Accra, in fact I know someone who chooses Cairo cause of TAT.

It’s because of demand, the passport department in Lagos does not have enough staff, so they outsource production.

What’s in visas processing that will make your city influential 😂😂.

Is there a city in this word with diplomatic office that doesn’t do visa processing. ?

Bro their visas to some countries in Europe plus Canada literally get processed here in Nairobi,
you can search here on nairaland, there are many crying in visa related threads
And so? How is that anything special?

Visa get processed anywhere depending on the country and Turn around time

It’s also being processed in Accra, Cairo even Kigali.

Even in Asia , Canada visa processing for Chinese might be routed through Singapore.

Stop celebrating nonsense

Here's what we know, the vehicles a casspir and mamba of the sandf were captured by the m23 and were recaptured shortly after the ambush when SADC forces launched a counter attack, the vehicles however were damaged beyond repair since they were hit by antitank missiles and were blown up rather than being towed back to base, no casualties were recorded due to this ambush which is testament to the design and protection of the mamba and casspir.

The casualty is result of a mortar that hit the base.
You do know the mortar attack is a separate incident right??

I think what is more worrying is that the SANDF contingent in DRC has no Air asset whatsoever.

What it looks like is your soldiers are severely under equipped and your airforce is suffering from insufficient and fully operational aircrew and aircraft, and likely does not have enough ordnance.

Yeah..Day before yesterday

Mamba and Casspir vehicles seized from the SANDF.

It seems the SANDF is really getting whooped by M23 rebels.

It looks like they were able to get into the the SADC base and inflict casualties.

i posted this pic a while ago of kenyan troops in drc
check the footwear.
im very sure these soldiers have standard issue boots, im guessing they do this in non combat situation in fixed positions like camps because of the muddy Congo environment, regular boots would sink and absorb water causing foot hygiene problems

in the pic you can see a soldier with a regular boot, the difference in protection is clear
Moot point, the picture you posted showed troops on the field not camps, those wellies are actually a bigger hazard to the troops than regular boots.

let’s not even talk about the risk of developing trench foot or immersion foot, you don’t want to be caught in an ambush with those big unwieldy thing strap to your legs, they decrease your combat effectiveness substantially.

A good combat boots with goretex liner takes care of most of the problems you highlighted.

The wellies could be worn in camps because soldiers wouldn’t want to wear out or dirty their regular boots, but there’s no excuse for wearing gumboots on the field.

The US army, French army and Swedish wear gumboots in combat?

jl115:
Since when are gumboots insufficient? You ever been on deployment in the DRC?

Im guessing the US army, French Army, Swedish army ect ect.....oh yes and off course the Nigerian army all have a shortage of boots? Well to be fair the Nigerian army it might be true
Lmao, so the incompetency of the Nigerian army is an excuse for the SANDF to be incompetent as wellhuh

I didn’t know your armed force manual is derived from the Nigerian Army.

jl115:
bro, you think he is wearing $10 gumboots?? Again use some of that gray matter!
I could care less if the gumboots is $1M, fact of the matter is , we are looking at a deployed soldier in an active combat zone with an inefficient equipment.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Shaytun: 5:27am On May 14, 2024
jl115:
That's the conclusion you got to?? Maybe use some gray matter and think where they are deployed, and weather wise what its like there....
Oh, sure, because of the terrain let’s choose a gumbo ots over a combat boot even though it has worse traction, does not fit well which will obviously lead to feet problem, less breathable also. Ignore the obvious that combat boot are made for all terrain even wet jungles and can be waterproof to.

Rational thinking there buddy

MiddleDimension:
not exactly.

I feel the Russians, unlike the French, won't want to dictate to them. But what does Russia get in turn in this partnership? Is it strategic location? or access to minerals? What mineral does Niger have that Russia does not have even in larger quantity? If Russia has nukes and nuclear energy, then it certainly does not need uranium from Niger.
The Russians are definitely messing with the french, they have effectively limit the french influence in the Sahel.

I think that’s what their aim is here.
