You believe in Nigeria politicians and that isba major shortcoming ...now in your state of residence, what is the palliatives and how has it been??
In Edo state..there is a reduction in work rate wch will definitely hampers productivity.

A 5 day working rate results isn't seen visibly,how will a 3 day be.

Then edo people should protest that their governors should roll out a better palliative, that’s fiscal responsibility.

I didn't put tuition fees there.

It doesn't matter to the poor If pry school cost zero naira....alot of children will be branches in whatever meagre biz a parent decide to indulge in ..

You will see alot of hawkers ......

Causes and symptoms.

Poor Parent will send their kid to school, if they are guaranteed free meal everyday.

In fact they will pray for school to be opened on weekends.

It is about 70days since he announced d removal, what has he done to maybe make people see reasons...

It’s not an ill planned policy, it’s a policy that has been in place since 2021.

Various state governor’s have announced palliative measures.

I’ll prefer you look to your state government to ease subsidy pain than the federal government.

You saw recently d amount that was posted for unity school n probably blv d gov gives a hoot about the children outa school

Despite that, the ripple effect of subsidy removal will kick more outa school...

Whether you like it or not, sundry expenses will still force the children out as the parents wouldn't want to pass his meagre salary on those increased expenses...

I don’t think there was any introduction of tuition fee in the unity school. Unity school still remain tuition free.

Nevertheless, what I want is the total elimination of whatever fee is being paid in public schools.

If government cannot fund school uniforms, then let student wear whatever they like, cancel registration fee also.

It should cost a Parent zero Naira to enroll their ward in a public school.

All this I hope to see starting from next year, with an education minister in place and budget approved.

If 20m were out of school ..how many do u think would be out now when the hardship have quadrupled and school fees increased

I’m more concerned on Primary and Secondary education.

That’s what the government should focus on, leave tertiary education alone.

And eliminate all forms of fee in Primary and secondary, I support subsidy payment on grassroots education with my full chest.

Introduce school feeding program expecially at the primary level, provision of glass of milk during break time for kids under the age of ten will do more in eliminating insecurity and poverty in Nigeria than spending 350 million dollars a month defending the Naira will.

I am not defending that. Two truth can co-exist. Freely floating the currency will increase our hardship and at the same time also free up our already scarce dollars. This is what I want you to get.

I want the floating but it should be controlled by FG. Like some level of control.

Of course, it will. When they say free- floating what th we are invariably saying is managed float.

There’s no country in the world that doesn’t intervene from time to time in controlling their currency.

I don't know if you are deliberately doing this or just trying to force a narrative ..

Not everyone is against subsidy removal if it plunges the country into s deep sea....

Plans are supposed to be on ground b4 embarking on such a journey....

How on earth will you remove subsidy and unify fx....isn't that suicidal to the average Nigerians??

Despite these, there are reports of the elites sharing 70b for less important ish even when we are tagged broke..

There’s no plan that will be on ground that will do much to mitigate the effect of a 250% increase in the price of a necessity good.

Stop letting them bobo you with big grammar like palliative and such, unless you are introducing another form of subsidy, people are going to feel the effect hard.

Stop saying this thing bro. Even Tinubu admitted those policies are hard policies. Tinubu is not even defending this but he said these are policies that will reposition the country in time to come. I pray so. He even promised to intervene in the FX market. Is hard to see a country that freely float her currency without any form of control from the government.

Something you can buy for 10 Naira yesterday is going for a higher price today without increase in your income, is that not some level of hardship?

NB PLC will increase prices of their products tomorrow, both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Did you see their net loss on FX transaction?

See Lipton, I gave the woman 50 Naira for that small tea bag yesterday. The woman said is 60 Naira now. I was angry despite the 10 Naira difference. Beverages price don increase for market. This prices might go even higher.

When did I say that they are Easy policies?

How can removal of subsidy be an easy policy?

But as a nation we really need to figure out what is right and what are priorities should be.

The study of economics is how you allocate scarce resources, because resource is a scarce commodity all around the world.

There’s no justification whatsoever in spending more money on subsidy than on education or health, it’s an abomination.

You guys still don’t know that there is a very big fire on the mountain, the country has 20 million out of school children bro. 20 million!!, the highest in the world, those are potentially jihadist, kidnapper and armed robbers of tomorrow.

And you are here defending spending 350 million dollars a month on defending the Naira, something that only benefit the upper class.

People seeking education abroad, PTA/BTA , Medical Tourism etc Those are the people we should be spending scarce resources on? You must be joking.

Are you okay? Doesn't that tell you that our implementation is always a problem.
Why is it that when you guys want to defend rubbish, your ability to use your sense suddenly goes out the window.

It's that time you want every single thing to be absolutely spot on and of which you'll still rather die than admit there is a problem.

So the border closure now and everything that went with it as an example is suddenly so different from this? If I call you dumb it will be like I am insulting you and yet you are showing that you cannot at the very least use your sense when it comes to defending politicians.

Stop projecting your shallow thoughts on me bro.

I have never defended the Border closure, so I don’t know what you are talking about.

That’s the difference between me and you.

I don’t defend politicians, I defend policies. But I reckon that will be hard for you to understand seeing as you are against subsidy removal and yet voted for a candidate that promised to remove subsidy.

You will only be taken serious by me if you had been an NNPP supporter.

It’s a simple question.

If you are the president of Nigeria, and you are giving 350 Million dollar. Will you invest the money in education, health or security or will you use the money to start defending the Naira?

This is almost like buhari closing border to boost local production and yet fvcking it up through implementation.

As I speculated the Tuareg and the Niger President Ethnic people are not going to allow the coup.

Rhissa Boula is leading a Tuareg force to resist the coupist, Which will lead to Civil war.

And we all know what a civil war in Niger will cause in Nigeria, The best approach for Nigeria is still to intervene and restore Bozoumto avert the impending crisis.

1m dols last year =400m naira

1 dollar ds year=900m naira

This unnecessary fixation with dollar again, omo.

Oya make I indulge you.

FAAC Allocation before subsidy = 745B @ 450 = 971 million dollars.

FAAC Allocation After subsidy = 1.9T @ 770 = 2.4 billion Dollars.

So FAAC increases both in dollar term and Naira.

Stop wasting scarce resources defending something that should not be defended at this time.

Those resources are better utilized in other areas.

Nigerians spent close to $2B last year on foreign education, the federal government subsidised half of that payment.

To put that into perspective for you, the Government spent more money on subsidising schools fees for those furthering their education in UK, Canada and USA. Than the whole total education budget for the country.

If that is not madness I don’t know what it is.

Don't you think insecurity will increase in Northern Nigeria?

Are Nigeria army as good as the Niger in the Sahel? I mean Nigeria in particular.

One of the reason for the improved security situation in northern Nigeria is MNJTF, which the Niger republic is a strong proponent of. The Diffa region of Niger is where Sector 4 is headquartered at. And most of Bosoum loyalist are in that region.

Our security situation improves more with bosoum as the president.

Again, the use of force and the threat of use of force (Notice the distinction) are part and parcel of diplomatic negotiations.

I don't even understand you. You blame the increase in security in Northern Nigeria (Boko Haram) due to military intervention in Libya.

Now you are wanting military intervention in Niger!

You d make me laugh

It’s not that complicated.

I blame the situation in Libya due to intervention of the west to remove gaddafi, the west interest here was Gaddafi death, but that was not Nigeria interest, but Nigeria adopted a passive approach along with AU and watched how an external force pursue its own interest in detriment to Nigeria.

I support Nigeria interest of intervening in Niger to restore bassoum back to power just as I supported Nigeria stance to support the military regime of Derby son in Chad because of stability , because I can assure you that the external force interest in Niger is not stability.

And we cannot afford to be passive again as was the case in Libya and let other external forces interest prevail over our own.

Nigeria and France are technically not in good terms diplomatically. When Macron visited Fela Shrine during Buhari Administration, it wasn't regarded as State visit and dude was treated like a common man. When PBAT visited France recently for a Summit too, they served us back!

Nigeria is never happy with Paris dominance on francophone nations in the name of Policy of Assimilation. We are surrounded by them, hence we can't afford to sleep with our 2 eyes closed.

Nigeria actually want France to leave, but we can't let coupists take over the nations as well.

This is the press statement from the US sate department.

MR PATEL: Good afternoon, everybody. I have one very – actually, I don’t have anything at the top. I don’t know why I said that. So happy to dive right in.

As the only person in this row, go ahead, Daphne.

QUESTION: If I could start with Niger.

MR PATEL: Sure.

QUESTION: Are you concerned that the events that are happening in Niger violate – would violate U.S. law barring aid to coup regimes at all? And is that why you’re avoiding coup language and statements on this?

MR PATEL: So this is an evolving situation, and the situation remains incredibly fluid, and thus it’s too soon to characterize the nature of ongoing developments. What I can say is a couple things.

First, we are closely monitoring the situation and are in close communication with our embassy in Niger. What I can also share is that the embassy has conducted a full accountability for all official personnel and family members. But these events continue to evolve. As such, we’ve also publicly advised U.S. citizens to limit unnecessary movement and avoid some of the affected areas until further notice as the situation develops.

https://www.state.gov/ecowas-action-on-mali/

But broadly, let me just reiterate, since you asked – we are gravely concerned about the developments in Niger. We strongly support the democratically elected president, President Bazoum, and we condemn in the strongest terms any efforts to seize power by force and disrupt the constitutional order. We also call for the immediate release of President Bazoum and respect for the rule of law and public safety.
