I have laughed well today sha! TVegas, kudos for spotting the Judas amongst us. I refuse to believe that the hospital is behind this, maybe this person is just hungry for the $200. Anyways, please i'm interested in POE stories since this Ebola case in the US. By God's grace, none of us will be affected. My mother in law had her annual check up in the UK last month, all her appointments were cancelled and she was asked to wait for 21 days for them to be sure she was Ebola free before she could reschedule. |
sayoberry: I'm searching Google and everywhere else for apartments or cheap hotels in sugar land o. can't find any. the ones I found are like five star hotels and the apartments are so expensive.Unfortunately, Sugarland is not a budget friendly area. If you're not particular about Staying in Sugarland, a good option is to consider WHMC, which is in a much more affordable area. |
Check the last couple pages, he posted the link already raii: Uncle oawele please you havent replied about the apartment/area you stayed at? |
Florida is pretty expensive. I'm going to Orlando and the prices i'm getting aren't cheap at all! The further south you go though, it gets considerably cheaper (south meaning Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Sarasota, etc) In Tampa, I know of St Joseph's, lived there for 2 yrs and my neighbor at the time had her baby there. prettymum: I joined this forum yesterday and going through various question and comments has been so helpful. I am a bit of relieved now. |
Hope our Phoenix people are ok o! I'm just reading there was a storm and a part of the city is without electricity. |
I normally use Tmobile when I'm in the US. I've had the SIM for about The prepaid plan I get is $60 per month and it gives 5G data I think which usually covers my bb. Also if there's wifi where you're staying, that will also work for your BlackBerry and you might not need up to 5G data. I say do a Google search to see if there are other local carriers in the Phoenix area besides Tmobile. MadameU: My dear people of phoenix coth past present and future does anyone know how much it costs to get a sim card plus where is the most adviceable place to get one? Any idea how much a contract wit BB service would cost as well |
Hello everyone, Has anybody here considered using an insurance plan to cover the cost of birthing? I just spoke to my Uncle and he suggested getting an insurance plan and then using it to cover the cost of giving birth. I used to live in US and I had coverage for the 9 years I was there, he suggested reviving the coverage since I have a social security number and all the things I need to sign up again. It's looking like a feasible arrangement, but I want to be sure I won't violating any visa rules (a la Medicaid) if I explore this route. I'll appreciate if anyone can advise on this. thanks |
I agree. The first few days after a CS are pretty difficult, at least that was my experience. I actually don't advise that you be alone, talkless of with 2 babies. This is why i'm having to consider Orlando which is so expensive, but I have people there so I won't be alone after my CS. And i'm having just one baby. Think it well sha. nefertitiram: Hummnnn, being alone with 2 babies..m CS won't let you take a crap easily not to talk of 2 babies. You wll need to hire a nanny |
I'm also considering Orlando. Unfortunately, the hospitals there are very expensive and from my research so far, they're not inclined to give discounts to self pay patients, their costs are fixed. So far, these are the estimates i've gotten: Winnie Palmer Hospital Normal- 4500 Epidural 900, CS-7600 Epidural 1050 Health Central Ocoee Normal-5200, CS-7600 gave me a number to call for cost of epidural Florida Hospital East Orlando (they have like 7 or 8 different locations, choose the one closest to you) Normal-4240 epidural 850, CS-6890, Epidural 1200 These are all excluding doctor's fees. The 2 doctors i've spoken to so far (Dr Waite and Dr Orgello) quoted 3900 and 3200. If you find anything cheaper, please let me know. I've started looking at options in houston, since that is cheaper. yettidear: Hello everyone, I have a sister that is planning to have her child in US by next year Feb. She is looking at Florida. Please can you direct me to anyone that has experience in having a baby in Florida. which hospitals can she go to? Or is there a link to good and reasonable hospitals? |
Someone mentioned it to me and I've been trying to get info, but their website isn't loading so I can't get numbers. Will keep you posted if I get any info. I also plan to call Texas Children's Hospital (Women's Pavillion) to get their costs. I was planning to go to Florida before, but the estimates i'm getting are not encouraging at all, so i'm slowly leaning towards Houston. raii: Anybody got info on memorial hermann in houston. |
You're the one that went looking nah! Anyone could've told you that Cedars Sinai is a celebrity hospital hence the amount they've quoted you. ![]() seemorejoy: This is what i got when i Cedars Sinai Medical Center people pls help me o. |
This is my situation exactly! Some people on here have said to put vacation, but the problem is that i'll be travelling shortly after the visa is renewed. If I (or you sef) send a letter to the embassy, isn't that grounds for cancellation of the visa since I knew at the time I was applying that I was going to have a baby? Abeg can any of the 'gurus' help answer this question. virgymaria: Hello Everyone, I trust you all are having a great day. |
I shed tears as I read your story. I thank God for your life and your strength. I pray that He will continue to lift you up and that the Holy Spirit will comfort your husband like no one can. The same thing happened to my friend 3 weeks ago, she was 29weeks gone and was leaving for Houston two days before she started bleeding and was rushed to the hospital. She had an emergency CS and her baby was born alive, the same story of not breathing well was told to her and the baby died less than 20mins later. She also had to fight for her life cos of the blood she lost. We thank God for her life sha. I weep this morning for you and your family, for my friend, for countless other mothers who have lost their children and their lives due to our under developed health care system. For those of us who go through pregnancy and deliver safely, let us not take it for granted in any way. It is truly by God's mercy. For those of us who have enough funds to even go abroad, it is a privilege and we should continue to thank God for putting us in the position to afford such. I pray that none of us will know this kind of loss again. As we have come together from all works of life to share experiences and encourage each other, so will God continue to hear our prayers and have mercy on us. Sorry for the long post, my heart is just heavy this morning. nefertitiram: This country shaaaa, 6 months! 7 months, these babies r a piece of cake for most US hospitals. I just found out that my babies were born alive. Then the hosp says they weren't breathing so well, like seriously? I believe the hosp did not make enough efforts, but I won't regret. I heard NICU stay in a specialist hosp is about 25k to 35k per day per child, and they will spend a minimum of 1 month in incubator. |
I was in the same boat with my first pregnancy. I ended up going to the market to buy chiffon and light cotton fabrics and got my tailor to make me a whole bunch of shift dresses. That's what I wore throughout my pregnancy. malory84: @NErf so sorry for your loss. May the good Lord comfort you. You shall have double for your troubles and affliction shall not rise a second time. Pls mamas, I need to buy maternity dresses ASAP. This my baby has refused I wear anything clingy or tight. Jeans, trousers n leggings na no go area, feel so frustrated on them. I don't really like the ones I'm seeing online. Pls is any1 coming back soon to NAija from ELpaso? |
Sorry if i'm asking the same question over and over again. Are you stating childbirth on your application? I'm due to renew my visa via dropbox in December (when i'm about 30wks gone) and i'm afraid of rejection. I feel like childbirth is something best explained when I see the VO face to face. Not sure how it'll be just sending in paperwork. Pamperme: To think i was just planning to change from New York to MIHS, Phoenix because of the weather around that period! |
seemorejoy: Good Day Everyone, I'm New in this forum, i need someone to help me with the cost of giving birth in Florida, precisely Tampa. I will appreciate with the reply i got from each members here. And is it possible for i and my wife to travel?I'm planning to go to Orlando, not Tampa. It's pretty expensive (7k for CS and 3.5k for doctor excluding all other charges - and that's the cheapest i've found so far), but that's where I have family and i'll be going by myself, so I can't consider el paso or Phoenix. I'll suggest you do a Google search, just type hospitals in Tampa, and start calling to ask for costs. That's what I did. |
Phema: ^^^^Go through the Dropbox process. If they need you to come in for an interview, they will reach you. Renewal of your visa goes beyond whether or not you paid your bills. They will want to know if you intentionally lied about your pregnancy the last time you were granted visa. So, be ready to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you were oblivious of your pregnancy. You might be lucky to get your visa renewed via Dropbox without the VO even noticing you birthed in the US.Has anyone used dropbox to renew for childbirth Purposes? That's my situation and i'm so nervous about being denied (not sure why honestly). My visa isn't due for renewal till January when i'll be about 30wks gone. I'm contemplating just filling out the regular holiday things like I did for the last renewal. Very scared and confused at the same time ![]() |
@ LeonessAug, it'll really help if you gave a bit more information about your friend's experience, please. So we can learn from it And know if there's anything we can do to prevent such from happening. Your story is so vague that you've only succeeded is scaring some of us without even really knowing what we're scared of. Please help us help ourselves. Thanks. |

Ok I'll ask them. Overland Park is quite a distance from Overland Park and Lawrence, but I'll keep you posted on what I find out. |
temiiiii: Hi everyone. You have to get in touch with the doctor separately from the hospital, some hospitals have doctors attached to them. Which hospital are you planning to use? I went to school in Kansas, so might be able to help, but I need to know the hospital. I still have a few friends in Lawrence and Topeka and can reach out to them on your behalf. |
shelly23: Please has anyone renewed their visa through drop box and stated they were going to have a baby? I'm eligible for drop box, but I need to be sure i can state that I want to have my baby and include the relevant documents without jeopardizing my chances. Please I'm still waiting for an answer to my question. I really need help. I've gotten a reasonable hospital and doctor in Orlando, I just want to be sure of what to do about my visa without jeopardizing my chances. thanks |
Please has anyone renewed their visa through drop box and stated they were going to have a baby? I'm eligible for drop box, but I need to be sure i can state that I want to have my baby and include the relevant documents without jeopardizing my chances. The other option would be to go to the embassy in person, but by then, I'll be almost 7 months pregnant, not sure I want to do that. Please advise, thanks. |
The best way to do this without issues is to go to www.mypaga.com and register as a customer, then put the money in your Paga account and then go to the uk visa site and pay value in your Paga account. My husband did it and it worked (someone that works for Paga suggested it to him). Paga has transaction limits for new customers, so to put money in your account, do an online transfer to Paga's account (you have to send a notification SMS to Paga after) or look for an agent (all Medplus Pharmacies and Chicken Republic Maryland are agents) and pay cash into your account. It sounds tedious, but it'll save you the stress of having card issues. My husband has paid for like 5 people (our neighbours) now without any issues. Just call Paga's customer service if you're not sure of any of the steps, they were very helpful to my husband. |
