Southwest goes to Chicago, not O'Hare Int Airport, goes to Chicago midway.

The name is southwest cos they started in the southwest but they've merged with other airlines and expanded their routes, although still not as wide as the bigger domestic airlines.

nefertitiram:
Southwest to Chicago? *blank stare*

Southwest goes to a specific part of US, it doesn't cover the entire us, only the South West.

Congrats on your twins! You're a strong woman sha cos my one baby weighed 2.7kg like one of your twins. I can't imagine carrying 2 of them.
Not sure why you were forming macho o! And for 3 days forthat matter! I had a CS too and experience has taught me to not play aorund with that pain. My body was in complete shut down mode for those 3 days I was in the hospital.

sayoberry:
For mums having their babies at oakbend medical center... Pls when a nurse comes to your room after you've had Ur baby and ask "should I give you anything for pain (pain meds)" abeg.. Never say No even if u don't feel pain. Esp for the C.S people. I was forming macho in the hospital cos of excitement of twins, plus I dint even feel the pain much cos of the spinal I had. But I was in pains, but each time they asked if I wanted the pain meds I would say no, I'm fine. They must have asked me up to 30 times btw wed and friday. Na Friday night I no say coke Na black and fanta Na yellow. I was d one now begging them to bring the pain meds grin which I used till the last minute o left d Hosp.

Just watch as people start porting to Missouri lol! I won't lie, it's a fantastic deal sha.

I'll say to consider the epidural, roughing it a lot easier said than done o! The pain is like nothing you've ever experienced.

kizluv:
Sorry o, just seeing all the PM 's
Hospital name Missouri baptist hospital , st Loius, missouri. The hospital has very very good reviews. I got the details from this humble thread. Page 19.
Hospital fee- 2600 for 48hrs after delivery ( you pay 30 days to your edd)
Doctors fee - 800 to take your delivery. ( it was 2900 they told me when I was in Nigeria, when I came. They gave me that fee for self pay. Provided I pay before delivery) then 100 per doctors appointment.
Ultrasound - 150. I brought an ultrasound I did 2 days to my travel , doc said he won't do ultrasound unless very necessary.
my doctors name is - Timothy philpott. I would send number to PM's
Pathology Inc (labs)- i dont know yet ( my doctor was kind enough to take all my test from Nigeria. Apart from the once written with biro (idiots, msceeeww) but he said because I am self pay, he would giv me till my next appointment to get them. My husband is trying to get them on hard copy instead of biro. If we can't get them, he said I would do syphilis, hiv and hep B. The rest he's okay with.
Pediatrician - some say 100 per check up , some 150 per check up. Am still searching for.
Epidural - 800 . ( I go rough am, I am no using it)
about accommodation, I don't know sad . I am staying with someone. Maybe check booking.com
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 9:17pm On Feb 28, 2015
You may just have discovered the pre-hike MIHS lol! $800 is too good to be true haba!

You might as well put up the hospital's details before people bombard you with PMs.

kizluv:
@ Mabels
Missouri baptist hospital oh, they charged me 2900 for delivery and 100 for each check up. I went to discuss with the financial lady. Said am self pay, if they can wave the 100 dolls on each visit. She open computer, open book, ask me like 3 times. Your self pay? I said yes. She finally Said 800, but I would pay the 100 for each visit and pay the 800 before delivery. I had one visit last week, would probably have 2 or 3 more before delivery.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 4:24pm On Feb 27, 2015
It means they need you to provide itemized details of how you will cover all the related costs including showing proof that you've contacted a doctor and hospital.

Just do a search on this thread for burden of proof and you should be able to see examples of what others used.

Girlmummy:
Hello Peeps,

Went for a visa interview to have my baby in USA and was rescheduled for another date to come with a birth plan and hospital bill. Please advise on how i'd go about it??
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 2:37pm On Feb 27, 2015
As long as you enter the US while your visa is valid, you'll be fine. There's no need to renew before you leave nigeria.

The CBP officer at the POE is who determines how long you can stay in the US and that's the date you should be more mindful of.

Nasadiva:
Hello Everyone.
I can see there are lots of GOOD HEADS in this forum. Please I need an urgent advice, I am September mum and will love to leave b4 35weeks, the problem is my visa will expire 2nd week of August. If I stay to renew I will cross the 35 weeks, if I leave, my visa will expire b4 I even put to bed. What do I do? Another thing, if I stay to renew, will they grant my application at that advance stage?

The US embassy is notorious for denying nannies, not sure why though.
Please try your luck and let's know how it goes.

I'm not sure why you're on this thread if you're so hell bent on forcing Nigerian hospitals down our throats!

Please allow those of us who want BETTER alternatives to seek them!

drafrican:
Yes I am a true representation that guarantees EMPATHY.
When the facts are laid down it turns to an emotional blackmail.
To get healthcare in USA without insurance you pay heavily to get the same in Nigeria you pay heavily.
How does the fact that a hospital generator will run on fuel make me love money?
I won't be blackmailed,I have stated the facts. you either accept it or not.
Stating the fact doesn't make me wicked or mean!
And please don't go to any Nigerian hospital again o ......only USA that's the only time ur words are valid

Check their luggage allowance before buying the ticket. I know someone who flew them some years back to NY and the luggage allowance was 20kg total so he had to pay a lot for excess.

Luckychild2015:
Good evening everyone.

Has anyone used Iberia to US before? How is their service like? They stop over in Madrid before they go to newyork. The stopover time is like 11hrs. I will appreciate ur responses. Thank u.

You can also try southwest airlines, they're the only US airline that still allow 2 bags of 23kg each for free, all others charge extra for checked in bags.

If possible, try and go before 35wks. That loooooong journey to LA might take it's toll on your body. Or look for something with less connections, i know tickets are super expensive cos July is peak season, but please think about your body too.

KayLayChi:
Hi all,

I am travelling to Los Angeles first week in July and the ticket prices are crazy. I was considering Emirates but Etihad is cheaper but I am scared of Etihad because I dont know anyone that has used them.

Please has anyone here used Etihad (when pregnant, I will be travelling at 35weeks plus) and what was the experience. I want to buy my ticket this week and need this info urgently.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 9:31am On Feb 23, 2015
If you can, just pay for an economy comfort seat or use miles to upgrade if you have.
I find the economy seats to be pretty cramped and theextra leg room in economy comfort will be a blessing on that 10hr+ flight.
The crew usually won't upgrade you just like that.

IyawoToBe:
Congrats finebony and my dear kizluv (its been long I heard from you so glad you landed in st Louis in one peice cheesy Chicago CBP have got nothing on you kiss)

Pls to those who have flown delta pls can you give tips about the best seat positions on their aircraft. Particularly for economy. I intend to ask for an upgrade to economy comfort on the flight if it's not full. But still want to make sure I get the best economy seat in case I don't have the opportunity for an upgrade. Delta airline o not BA.

Thanks

Thanks for raising this. People don't seem to share their birth stories here. I have been meaning to ask.

Experience mamas in the house, pls share your experience with epidural abeg. Did it help? Or natural is the way to go? wink

Pls advise FTMs like us o.
There's a thread in the family section on epidural vs natural birth, might be helpful.
I'll just say not to completely rule out epidural cos childbirth pain is like nothing you've ever experienced, ever!

Winnie Palmer in Orlando, not budget friendly at all, but that's where I have family. $4500 for normal birth, $900 for epidural and $7600 for CS, $1050. Doctor's fee is $3400.

Just limit the tests you pay for in Nigeria cos you'll end up redoing most of them. I'm in Florida and my doctor accepted only my glucose test and HIV tests, he insisted on doing everything else and just helped me get a higher discount from the lab.

Why would any dr refuse it

Best believe that as long as they have cause to doubt any information you provide, they will search any and everything on you and there's nothing you can do but be pissed off.
It has nothing to do with criminal offenses, they have the right to allow you or not allow you into their country so some of the take that right a bit too literally and misbehave!

drafrican:
We got a right to our opinion
Never heard /seen/read anyone having their phones searched, for what and on what grounds?
But if you are being profiled for crime, drugs, possible ,fraud your case must be very bad to have your phone searched .

But just a random phone search waiting to hear o
At least ochirouoma said she gave them her phone.
Of what interest is your phone to them if you are pregnant and going to have a baby.
But if u bought a one way ticket and your pregnant you see be theif
Or ur pregnant haven't paid your medical bills and are traveling with $500 ehen
You have to be criminally profiled to have a freak search.
This poe and crazy n jobless you know! Or maybe your village people are really after you!

Please find money and go through Dallas as someone advised yesterday.

k711:
Hello house,

Please I'm in a dilemma. Forgive me cos my hormones have taken a better part of me. I got a visa last year june for vacation which was duly used. Tho I went to Houston instead of califonia. I was not pregnant at the time so there was no case of lying to the vo. I found out I was pregnant in september. (Pregnant with twins). The thing is I have decided to go to elpaso. All flights to elpaso are crazily expensive except United that seems cheaper. But I'm scared of Houston poe even tho I intend to pay all my bills before going.
1.Do I need to send a letter to the embassy to inform them about my intention?
2. Do u think I will still have problems at Houston poe?
3. what other airline or route can I go thru to elpaso?
Biko help a sister out, I'm going crazy here plus my tummy Don big pass person we dey born triplet sef.

It seems like you've made up your mind to conceal this pregnancy and travel like and then you're looking for some validation here! Everyone has advised you not lie about it especially because there's no way you'll go at 16wks (20wks sef!) and be back in Nigeria before the 6months they'll for you at the POE is up!
Please don't create problems for yourself and ruin for those of us trying to do the right thing!

macorondo:
@lalavita Thank you for the advise truly appreciate this ma'am. Yea that's the reason I am travelling early as my preggie will not noticeable at that stage. Would Informing the embassy be ideal as we have not travelled to the USA before, this would be our first time, won't our visa be cancelled? But if I go in unnoticed would that be a problem?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 7:38pm On Feb 15, 2015
I think you're missing the point here, I for one have to reason to criticize anybody's decision to give birth to their child wherever they choose to, especially when it's not my money they're using.

What I wrote was to tread cautiously i.e. be careful. There was a time when people were being denied visas because of the letter and the advise was to look for another doctor's letter for visa purposes and then switch to El Paso afterwards. At the end of the day, we've all admitted that we're all after the blue passport, so however we end up getting it, it's all good as long as we do it the right way!

Virtuousdiva:
All the Doctores critics don show again. We dey Elpaso dey bond ooo, they born, collect all our docs in 3-4weeks go house.Make una well done.Thats why so many El Paso bound people have refused to come back and give POE story or any other thing of that sort and resort to pm's.Dont judge when you don't know anything about a place.Face your own destination. So many people don't criticize MIHS,WHMC,Northside and the likes but when it comes to using Del Sol Medical Centre through Doctoresperati, claws will come out.If you have gotten there letter before, they will advice you on preferable POE's to use if you want. There are so many mamas who used Houston,Chicago and Atlanta POE here with Doctores letter and have gotten here successfully. So if you are not lucky, maybe the letter of responsibility no favour you.Just to add something else,if you come to El Paso, you will know that you don't even need to help them market Doctores.people from China dey come here,Togo,Congo,Kenya,Latinos,Naija and so many more. They are not lacking customers.

Her canse is quite peculiar, the letter of intent may have helped, but i'm sure they cbp called her uncle and he probably freaked out and denied knowledge of her El Paso plans. You know Nigerians in the US can be VERY funny when it comes to being involved with any kind of law enforcement authorities, especially immigration.

Her story has many lessons we can all learn from it. The biggest one for me is to tread very carefully with anything related to doctor para ti, the same way the embassy frowns at their letter now is the same way POE officials will start overscrutinizing going forward.

May God help us all.

Sorry to take u back a little. Ve been thinking seriously on dis change of intent letter. Just thinking if the lady that was sent back had written the embassy that she wasn't visiting her uncle anymore bt going to ve her baby in so and so place, wouldn't dis ve helped a little?

we should nt take things for granted.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 6:51pm On Feb 13, 2015
Delta doesn't ask for fit to fly letter and economy comfort is considered an upgrade so when buying the ticket, you can request for an economy comfort seat, it shouldn't have anything to do with the promo.
And you can't book for a bassinet unless you've bought your baby's ticket.

Newmum0615:
Good people of NL, pls what is Delta airline's policy on fit to fly cert? What is the maximum no of weeks they carry and the maximum length of time the certificate shld be dated for?
Was also wondering if economy comfort ticket falls under this promo and if we can still make requests such as wheelchair and bassinet with the promo. Thanks.

For those looking for phone plans, Rebtel is really good for international calls in case you can't get a local plan that has good international rates. It's an app you download and pay like $10 a month for almost unlimited calls to naija.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 9:09pm On Feb 12, 2015
I hope you got this information from an authorised source and you're not just saying based on what you think you know. Cancelled with prejudice does not always mean the person intended to stay permanently, as far as I know, it means they misrepresented themselves (either with verbal or written information) based on the earlier information provided.
Please don't further compound this lady's anguish.
To Ochioraumu, there's a non immigrant visa thread on NL, you can also ask the VO there to explain what it really means so that we're not all giving you information based on what we think we know.
So sorry for all the stress.

zeezahbee:
ochioraumu, this is really a big one. i really feel for you

let me break it down for you.

CANCEL WITHOUT PREJUDICE Means you came to USA with the wrong class of visa, it doesn't stop you from applying in future.

CANCEL WITH PREJUDICE means Based on your answers, the officer made a determination that you intended to stay permanently (immigrant intent) when you were entering on a temporary , non-immigrant visa. The fact that the decision was made with prejudice means that a non-immigrant visa will most likely not be made available to you again unless you are able to demonstrate that the earlier determination was made in error because the officer concluded you had fraudulent intent to enter permanently.they think you basically lied to get your visa. This is very serious, and called misrepresentation. It doesn't matter whether someone else told you to lie, you had the choice. If you apply again, and the consulate finds that the misrepresentation was material, you have a lifetime ban from re entry.

I wont want you to feel to bad about this whole issue. You obviously didnt plan this whole trip well and you gave too much information at the POE and since your husband is a residence in USA, obviously you have immigrant intent . they expect him to file an immigrant visa for you. My sister, WITH PREJUDICE It means that you will never be able to get another non-immigrant visa (visitor's visa, student visa, work visa, etc.) to the United States again in this lifetime.only if GOD will. The paper you signed states that you have a wrong intent to migrate and that you will never apply for a visa in future.

you are flagged. am sorry

As per usual practice, I thought to share, my husband and son went to the US embassy in Lagos for my son's visa today (hubby already did his through dropbox).

He said the interview lasted less than 10mins, VO asked if I had a doctor and if we had enough money to cover all the bills. Advised him that we should keep all receipts and collect letter of zero balance cos i'll need to show them when I renew my visa.

That was it, approved!

Hello all,

Please I need help on a question my sister is due to give birth in August and her 2 years visa will expire in September, she has plans to give birth in the USA but with the expiry date on her passport does she have any chances of birthing there, thanks
As long as she arrives in the US before the visa expires, she'll be alright. The important thing is how long they stamp on her passport at the POE.
My visa expires on Feb 27th and I just got here on Monday but my passport was stamped for 6 months till August.

There's a thread for Immigrant Visa issues where a US embassy VO can answer all these questions and tell you what you want to hear. I suggest you move there and start bombarding them with these questions, we're tired abeg!

Just want to share text from US embassy upon my enquiry of bringing baby without US passport. I am thinking hard to share my exact truthful story with them.
"
Your child shall be national and citizen of the United States at birth if he was born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Section 215 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1185) states that “Except as otherwise provided by the President and subject to such limitations and exceptions as the President may authorize and prescribe, it shall be unlawful for any citizen of the United States to depart from or enter, or attempt to depart from or enter, the United States unless he bears a valid United States passport.”

Therefore, your son should be in possession of a valid US passport to travel outside the U.S.

So I finally made it to Orlando in one piece! Flight was excellent and POE was smoother than smooth.

For the preggies planning to fly Delta, please pay the extra cash for economy comfort, made all the difference for me- more space, closer to the front of the plane and the cabin crew treat you nicer smiley I was lucky to get the very first row so I had enough space to place my hand luggage as a footstool to manage my swelling feet.

Got to Atlanta before 6am and there were 3 other flights before ours, so the place was full. Waited in line for about 45mins, CBP officer asked the usual why are you here, I told him to have my baby, asked how much cash, I said $2k+, asked if I had paid the hospital and I said no that the rest of the cash was in my bank of America account. We ended up gisting about the Superbowl and NBA all star weekend coming up. He stamped me in for 6 months and if not for the dried fish my aunty forced me to carry, I won't have had to go into secondary inspection.
All in all, I thank God for a safe journey and stress free POE experience.
I noticed they were seizing a lot of naija food sha, Indomie included, I saw egusi, beans, so for those planning to carry food, be careful with what you pack.
Looking forward to my doctor's appointment and hospital tour tomorrow smiley

It wasn't your idea, but you and your wife still did it anyways! It's absolutely unfair to the numerous other people on here who work hard and save their money to do this the right way!
It is not by force to give birth to your kids in the US especially if you can't afford it!
We keep lamenting about corrupt government officials, how is this any better?
I honestly wish there was a way to report people like you so you can stop ruining the opportunity for the rest of us!

Hi Thanks for your input.

For passport my consent in written is required. Can I deny that consent so that I am not being part of this malfunctioning.
Later on for Visa can I make my end safe. To be honest it wasn't my idea too to have this type of insurance.
