You'll be fine with the naija visa. Just make sure you take your receipts with you cos they'll ask for them at the POE. MrsBee: Hello all, please I need to find out if anyone has travelled afterwards with the baby presenting only the U.S. Passport to our immigration people here. Did they demand for the Nig passport or did they just let you go. Am asking because my son has only the U.S. Passport although with a valid 2 year Nig visa that expires in 2016 and we would be traveling soon. |

The membrane wears out pretty quickly, so buy more, they're sold in packs of 6, buy an extra pack. Don't bother buying the hands free strap, if you have an old bra, just cut out the nipple area and pass the valve through to help you pump without hands. Gratefulaheart: what battery do you use dear? And how long does it last? Plus what extra accessories are necessary to buy for a medela double electric? |

They're referring to the return portion of the ticket you're buying for your baby. Maybe you should mention the fact that your baby doesn't have a naija visa and hear what they say. woaini: Thanks shelly you have been so helpful. I did not even ask about the passport. They just said if I want return then an adult has to also make the trip. I am just confused. The return ticket is like 118 dollars but it must be tied to an adult ticket. Did you book return for just your infant? I will call them back concerning the passport atleast to avoid any drama on the day of travel I got my ticket through an agent but they told me from beginning that they don't handle inclusion of infant ticket that I have to call the airline for that when I am ready and I don't really know the class of ticket I've got |

It depends on your travel date and class of ticket you have. I don't know that there's a trick to it. They calculate a percentage (10% I think) of the cost of a return ticket for the adult. If your baby doesn't have a naija passport, you have to book a return ticket. They won't let you buy a one way ticket with a naija tourist visa in the US passport. When you get to naija, you can process a refund for the return leg. woaini: Please for those that got their infant ticket how did you manage it? I just called the airline and they gave me a quote of almost 370usd. Some have said they booked return ticket instead for the baby, pls how did you do this because though i got a cheaper quote I was told a baby can't have a ticket alone, an infant ticket must be attached to an adult's. So how was this managed Help pls |

I also prefer pampers swaddlers, but note that they are practically non existent in Nigeria, so buy/ship enough to last you. I bought up to size 3 and switched to huggies from size 4 which I could easily find in Lagos. My son used size 3 for about 5 or 6 months though. sucre26: Mamas in the house, please which is better pampers swaddlers or huggies? |

I had my baby in orlando and used Winnie Palmer Hospital. Fantastic experience but the price is not for the faint hearted. I had no choice though cos that's where I have family. They have a self pay package that covers just the mother. They'll charge you separately for the baby, epidural, pediatrician, lab, etc. Finding a doctor might also be difficult if you're going after 28wks. They're not keen on taking new patients who are far gone in pregnancy. judilicious: Hello all. Am new here though I have been reading the comments here for a while. I would like to know if anyone here has ever given birth in Orlando, Florida. If there's anyone, what hospital did you use ? Thanks. |

You need a copy of the BC, not original. There's no expedited service, just send it with a priority express envelope which is more or less overnight (I guess that's the expedited service you're referring to). You have to send your money order to innovate services first and they'll send you a confirmation email. Print the email (that's your proof of payment) and include with all the other documents then send to the Nigerian embassy. Just make sure you include a priority express envelope with the documents so they can send it back to you overnight. Hope I haven't confused you sha. woaini: @bbaby84 pls I need your help and all those that applied for the visa themselves (eg @shelly23). I can see that the visa fee after filling the application comes to 180dollars. Please does this include the amount for the expedited service? If not how much is it in total for the expedited service? I intend to get the money order and I don't to act in error, I am really pressed for time Will the birthcertificate be returned to me by mail? Or what? I need help pls my people |

I used a money order instead, much easier cos you'll have to register your card first and that process is just long. I had 2 letters of consent, 1 from me and 1 from my husband, same content though. Just say I, xxxxxxx (you can include your passport details) am the mother of xxxxxx (include date of birth and passport details) and i'm taking her back home. Please assist in processing her visa. And for you husband I, xxxxxxx, father of xxxxxxx hereby give consent to my wife xxxxxx to bring our daughter home. Something like that sha. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of our own letter, i'd have shared with you. woaini: Hi @ Shelly23 I intend to apply for the naija visa myself. 2 quick questions please 1. Did you use your Nigerian card to make visa fees payment, or did u use a us card if you have one or was it money order option you used? 2. I saw that both parents consent is required in writing, please what's the content of this letter (I mean a summary or format)? |

Yes I did, in Orlando. For the birth certificate, I picked up from the vital statistics office which is a walking distance from the hospital, they even have the option to deliver it to you in the hospital (it's ready 2 days after you fill the paperwork in the hospital). social security number came in the mail like a week or so after birth (also applied for it in the hospital). For the US passport, went to the nearest passport agency to apply and got it in the mail about 2wks later. For naija visa, did it myself on the naija embassy (DC) website. fola62: Hi Shelly
Did you eventually have your baby in Florida? if you did, how and where did you go about baby's Birth Certificate, Social Security No, Nigerian Passport/visa and any other document for the baby |

Not always true. June 15th-Sept 15th is considered peak period for airlines, so you might not get cheaper tickets in August. If your trip is after Sept 15, you might be lucky cos sometimes airlines have promos for immediately after the peak period, although those tickets usually have way too many restrictions. Also remember that the dollar rate can still go up and ticket prices will be affected. chloe7: tickets are on the high side now august and Sept are when tickets come down, but if you have the money you can book now. |

As long as you enter the US before it expired, you'll be fine. You'll be stamped for 6months at the POE, that's what matters not your visa expiry date. I got to the US a week before my visa expired and was stamped for 6months. And I renewed by drop box when I got home 4months later. Amy20: Good day everyone, so I have been quietly reading this thread for awhile and I have some questions I need advice on. So I got my US visa while I was in school in the UK, married but not pregnant then. Visited twice for the purpose which I got the visa on. So just found out that I'm about 9wks preggers and due date in jan. But the thing is my visa expires in February next year. About a month after my due date. Pls what can I do? |

All the American stores also resell on amazon. Just do a search for what you want and make sure the reseller is the store. I buy baby clothes from carter's and sometimes when I don't find what I want on carters.com, I go to amazon and buy from Carter's, they usually have overstock. DeeandGLady: Thanks zeezahbee, I hope they wont be asking me for documents and bills that carry my name and address Like chase bank(chase closed my account because it was not active for a while and they came up with new policy now they are asking for docs I don't have to re-open, that bank sef )? As for buying on amazon baby stuff is a No No for me, I have prime membership but I will rather do the american stores. |

They won't even let you buy one way since your baby doesn't have a Nigerian passport, only a Nigerian tourist visa. Buy the return and get a refund for the return leg when you get home. That's what Delta advised me to do. shelly23: You don't have to use DHL or FedEx. I used priority mail from USPS, the envelope was $5.95 and it got there in 3days, you can use priority express if you want it to get there the next day. Just ask for a tracking number. Innovate will send you an email to confirm receipt. Print the email and include it in the package you're sending to the embassy, that's your proof of payment.
For your baby's ticket, call the airline first to know the price and then pay at the airport, to avoid any surprises. |

Yeah, make sure it's priority express, it's the $20 prepaid envelope and make sure you get a tracking number and request for a signature upon receipt. Mine didn't take up to 9 days though. Nita2013: Maximun 9days. When sendin d money order use priority mail so they ll get it d next day. Also d return envelop should be priority as well. |

Like 3 days for innovate to get the money order and another 3 or so days for the embassy depending on what type of mailing envelope you send them. Just plan ahead of time sha, but it's ultimately cheaper than using an agent. nefertitiram: Hi Shelly, but how long does it take to get the visa using innovate? |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by shelly23: 8:53am On May 17, 2015 |
Yeah it's not the most straightforward process. You're better off just buying a money order instead of trying to pay with your card (they'll ask you to register the card by scanning and emailing your bank statement, passport, etc) When you get to the payment page, choose the money order option and you'll see the instructions on what to do next. If you get confused, call their customer service number. demiiii: this innovate isnt easy at all. i have filled the form but obviously the name and lastname on my mastercard isnt exactly d same as my newborns name, our last names are the same but the 1st name isnt the same. what do i do to continue the process? |
