Doesn't strike me like she plans to pay the bills. Considering her friend helped her and she left for the US very early, there was probably no intention to pay from the onset. cherie24: Abeg is she a green card holder? ask her if she has a social security number abi she get american passport ni? you see how WE - in this part of the world love freebies even when its illegal. Nawa o! They have pleaded over and over again for people to read this thread WELL before asking the same questions over and over again! Enough people on here have used Dr Fagbohun and have shared their stories. Most recently was TVegas who even bent over backwards to write a whole epistle about his experience! Type TVegas into the search window and read his posts, you will find his account of Dr Fagbohun. Same goes for all the people asking about El Paso over and over again! Type it into the search window if you don't feel like reading from Page 1 and save us stress of getting worked up unnecessarily. Thanks michnuel: Hello everyone, Are there mummies in the house who are due in April, in Houston or Katy and planning to use Dr Fagbohun at Oakbend? Also has anyone used him recently, will appreciate if you can share your experience with me and any advice if possible. thank u |

somchisom: Good morning house. Please am trying to book my ticket wit delta airline via wakanow but the itinery is showing Lagos to Amsterdam to New York. No stop in atlanta which s usually delta’s POE. Am scared that there may be hitches on the way. Pls people wit ny xperience on ds kindly advise. its urgent, i need to book my flight today. Thank you Delta is partners with KLM and Airfrance, so sometimes Delta flights are routed through Amsterdam or Paris. You shouldn't have any issues, but you can call Delta directly if you'd rather go to Atlanta and not stop over in Europe. |

weaseloo: What is the least amount to enter Houston with?
My bill is $10k and I have cash of $4K, and my Capital One Debit & Credit Card & my Naira Mastercard. I intend to show them the bank cards at POE. Has this worked for someone before? If you can, i'll suggest you print the statements for the debit cards showing the balance. For the Nigerian one, just write the dollar equivalent under the naira balance. As you know Houston is notorious for harassing pregnant ladies (I just think Nigerians in general) and the more money you have, the easier it is to call their bluff. |

Depending on where the person is going, KLM has a promo to houston, you can also check united and emirates. Those are the most affordable i've come across so far. |

Has anyone flown Lufthansa to the US? What was the experience like?
Just found a decent deal on United's website but routed through Lufthansa. I'm trying to avoid the Houston POE, so this one lands in Washington DC, not Houston because the flight will be coming from Frankfurt. For only N247k, it's a good deal, but I've never flown Lufthansa before and the journey is a LOT shorter than that of Emirates. |

Shawbabe: Please quick question for the mothers, someone told me today that I need to be doing yoga to avoid having a CS. Because it works my pelvic muscles?
Is this true? Phema did u exercise during pregnancy and did it help during labour? Lol! Please don't kill yourself o! An unplanned CS is usually based on emergency either because you or the baby's health is in jeopardy, I doubt that it has anything to do with yoga or working your pelvic muscles. I had an emergency CS with my first pregnancy because my son's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and pushing him out would have strangled him. Not sure it would've mattered how well I prepared my pelvic muscles. |

Flying from Dallas to elPaso locally in the US will cost you a lot more cos you'll have to pay baggage fees which add up pretty quickly depending on how much luggage you have. |

If she didn't exceed the date stamped on her passport, she should be ok. Where she would have issues is future renewals since she didn't declare that she was going to give birth. She should make sure she pays in full and keep her receipts for proof. I wrote to the embassy asking if i needed to renew my visa before travelling for childbirth, since my visa will expire while i'm there and they responded that I don't need to. That so long I have a valid visa to enter the US, the POE officer will determine how long I can stay for.

She was trying to say that some relatives might use the baby's SSN to file taxes. They claim the child as a dependant to get higher tax returns. I guess it came across as ungrateful cos she called them ungrateful. It's still a warning regardless. Francutok: ........haba. Greedy relatives and friends and they still, accommodated you. C'mon, that's pretty harsh no matter what. It takes alot to accommodate you,I hope u knw that. Just the bills from your stay is enough help. From, your statement, its no wonder why some people never allow a second visit from preggy relatives. Be thankful atleast |

Depending on your budget, Orlando is pretty expensive. There's Winnie Palmer, Health Central Ocoee and Florida Hospital. Those are the 3 I checked and I got a quote of about 7600 for CS, 1050 for epidural and 3400 for doctor's fees. Unfortunately I don't have the book where I wrote the normal delivery rates here with me, I think it's about 4500 and epidural is 950. But these are good estimates for CS, they all charge about the same amount, the difference for each hospital is about 200. You can Google the hospitals and call them for the rates. I eventually settled for Dr Fagbohun in houston cos the orlando cost is too high. yefa: pleaseeee!!!! can someone help with details of a good doc and accommodation in orlando, florida? ASAP.

If you have a gynaecologist here in Nigeria, he/she would've told you to do a pelvic exam every year or at least a pap smear. I've been back in Nigeria since 2006 and done one every year since then. nefertitiram: I am with relatives, will share the ob/gyn's details after I speak with her. And lol, I hope all the tests come out negative o! Since it was screening for infections, cervical cancer and HPV virus.
By the way, I wonder why it hasn't been made mandatory to have a pelvic exam and a pap smear in Nigeria. The doctor could not believe that at my age I had not had a pap smear, which is why she eventually suggested a pap smear should be done, and the results last for 5years! A friend of mine explained that cervical cancer takes 20years to develop and finally become a problem, so in developed countries, they prefer to catch it early, because at that stage, it is treatable. Still, I wonder why we take it for granted o! |

It shouldn't be a problem, but my sis in law had a similar issue last year and had to do an emergency c-section cos the fibroid was hindering her baby's oxygen or something. She ended up with a $23k bill cos her baby was also placed in the nicu for 2 days to stabilise her breathing. They ended up beating the bill down to $17k and had to spread payment over many months. I'll suggest to talk to your doctor about having a CS (if you haven't already) to avoid any emergency or unforseen costs. tenic09: Good mrn house...thank God am finally out of the hsp after 3weeks of bed arrest...pls I have a question... Has anyone with fibroid issue during pregnancy had their baby in us....I want to know if there is additional bill attached to this....I did some scans during my stay in the hsp and they found out I av a 24mm sized fibroid in me..I think it was the cause for the spotting I had that took me to d hsp...though my doc said its nothing to worry abt as d size is very small and it hardly grows with the pregnancy(+ my personal findings on d internet) I really want to know if this will not add much to my bills ..thnx in advance for ur kind response... |

Even with a connecting flight, your POE is your POE. If you were going to houston on Delta for example, your POE is Atlanta, if Atlanta was a horrible POE, you'd experience the same thing! Remember that the POE is your entrance to the US so if the officials feel that you're not qualified to come in, they will send you back!
I've had issues at several POE's (not as a preggy though) and they happily disregarded my connecting flight. They just told me to tel the airline I was delayed by immigration. One time I had to sleep at the Atlanta airport cos all the connecting flights were done for the day by the time they let me out.
[quote author=PrinceAdeAde post=27578640]@shelly23,
I hear you but I would really be interested if any one with a connecting flight can share their experiences as the ones I have seen so far on this forum are experiences of final stop POE. |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by shelly23: 12:05pm On Oct 30, 2014 |
Connecting flights don't matter to POE officials o! The best best is to avoid these notorious POE's or just pray well and leave it to God. PrinceAdeAde: I think another way to circumvent all these horrible POE experience would be to board a connecting international flight and have your POE at the connecting point. I believe they may be unable to delay you beyond a reasonable time due to your connecting flights on the airline Airlines usually come looking for their passengers to avoid delay and refunds as the delay is not your fault
Just thinking this may help except someone had an experience faulting the above assumptions |

Make sure to include the additional baggage fees for US domestic flights o! Depending on the airline, you pay for each suitcase checked in and they have a weight limit also. These fees add up very quickly so you might end up not saving at all. raii: From Houston to Phoenix is 58, 868 using united airlines. What are you all waiting for? |

If I read correctly, the 111k price is to Hobby Airport, also in Houston, but much smaller. Maybe you were checking the price to George Bush International Airport, which is the more common airport for international flights. GenoMI: As in ehn Phema, I thought about porting to Houston for a minute cuz even my dates to Houston is 111k on Delta
I don't understand o cuz this very same Delta flight will first stop in Atlanta, before heading to Houston. I don't understand y the Atlanta is now 323k on the SAME Delta flight . |

I think it really depends on what you want out of life.
I lived in the US for 9years (5 yrs in college and worked for 4yrs) and moved back to Nigeria in 2004.
It was clear to me early on in my career (I graduated with a marketing communications degree) that I wasn't going to get far in the US corporate world. I worked for a fortune 500 company, made good enough money and really enjoyed my job, but as a black woman who wasn't an American citizen, the odds were stacked against me in that field.
I came back to Nigeria cos I was homesick (i'm the last born and my all my siblings and parents were in Nigeria) and didn't want to get stuck in my career.
10yrs later, I have no cause to regret my decision. I'm far ahead of where I imagined i'd be at this point in my career and I have the best of both worlds in my opinion. I visit my friends and extended family in the US at will and I get to be here with my family and friends too.
No place like home is my conclusion. |

@angel 55, please be very sure that your body can even accommodate a vbac.
I was advised by my doctor to do another CS and not vbac because he didn't think my body was ready for a vbac since I had the cs less than 3 yrs ago.
What you don't want is a situation where you'll need an emergency CS and then be forced to pay even more than you're trying to save now.
I'll suggest that you see a doctor asap and confirm if you should do a vbac before proceeding with it.
And above all, please be extremely prayerful, you are now at a very delicate stage of your pregnancy and it's not helping that you're still planning to move around quite a bit. The journey from texas to arizona is rather long.
Please take good care of yourself, God bless. |

So you do not have to worry. |

Ok, thanks. Phema: Its same procedure for anyone using Drop box. No one I know has been asked or even allowed to include supporting documents. Your best bet is to fill your DS 160 form diligently to carry the 'medical' undertone and send the Embassy a mail afterwards. |

Are you sure about this? So what about those of us using dropbox to apply for childbirth? I'm guessing we would need to include supporting documents for that. Please help confirm if you know. Thanks Phema: Sweetg, long time. How are you and LO?
To your question; drop box does not require you include any document. All they will ask for is your international passport, Passport photograph and DS 160 confirmation. They will likely not accept any supporting documents.
I understand why you are kinda concerned . You shouldn't be. You will be just fine. |

Congratulations! I pray we all have it as smoothly IJN. Please which doctor/hospital are you using in houston? Kween2014: Hello everyone, reporting live from Atlanta enroute Houston to the glory of God. This thread has been more than a blessing so I thought it wise to share my experience.
Background: I renewed my B1/B2 visa via drop box when I was already pregnant and later sent an email to the consular about my intentions, I got the standard response. I travelled yesterday at 33 weeeks, 6 days with Delta airline.
MMA Lagos: No one asked me for anything at the lagos airport, I was a bit pained sha as I had my fit to fly with me which i paid 10k for at the hospital ...anyway, better safe than sorry.
My Flight experience: it was fantastic....when I got to the gate, I used preggy face to ask if I could be upgraded to economy comfort with extra legroom (usually costs about 25k more), the lady nicely told me to be patient and she would do all she can. After boarding was over, I was upgraded ...lesson: never be too shy to ask, u deserve a priority treatment
At Atlanta poe: God took control, I was directed to the queue of a black young lady who at first looked mean but I just kept praying for favour. Immigration officer: Good morning, what are you in the US for? Me: To have my baby and a little vacation IO: oh really, ur first? Me: yes pls... IO: where do u work? Me: I work at..... IO: Congratulations, do you have a doctor here? Me: Yes, I do...in houston IO: Have you made payments? Me: Yes I have IO: do you have your receipts? Can I see them? Me: Yes I do (as I brought out my burden of proof envelope to remove the receipt, she just grabbed all the docs from me and scrutinised them one by one...docs include; my letter of appointment from doctor, receipts of payment from doc and hospital, email to the embassy and response, email correspondence with hospital and doctor, return ticket) IO: who will help you with the baby after you give birth? Me: My mum, she got in a few days ago. IO:Where will u be staying? Me: At my brother's house, he lives here. IO: what does he do? Me: he works with ....... IO: How much do u have on you? Me: $3, 500 IO: do you have your credit card on you ntoo? Me: yes pls IO: in case of any complications, hope you can afford it? Me: yes I can IO: Where is your husband and what does he do? Me: He is back in Nigeria and he works as a ...... ....And so after the long epistle, i was stamped in B2 till April next year. IO: Congratulations on ur baby.
All these took about 10 mins but no sec inspection and my luggage was not searched. To God be the glory. |
