A federal high court in Lagos,
today, granted an interim
order restraining the Federal
Government from renaming
the University of Lagos.
Justice Stephen Adah, ruling
in the suits brought against
the May 29, 2012 renaming
of the institution by the
students and alumni of the
university asked the litigants
to harmonize the suits, just
as it adjourned further
hearing in the case till July 4.
President Goodluck Jonathan
had on May 29th, 2012,
during his Democracy Day
broadcast renamed the
university after Bashorun
MKO Abiola, the acclaimed
winner of the annulled June
12 1993 presidential
election.
The presidential
pronouncement generated a
lot of controversies leading
to lawsuits from some
stakeholders who objected
the name change.

Nairaland GeneralA Young Man Died While Having Intercourse With A Girl by shesco(op): 10:38am On Jun 06, 2012
A young man aged about 30
reportedly died at the weekend
in Calabar, the Cross River state
capital, southsouth Nigeria,
during a sex romp with his
girlfriend.
The man, whose name was given
as Ete Samuel, was a resident of
14, Ekpo Abasi Lane in Calabar
South, while his sex partner, Miss
Peace Idorenyin is a resident of
16, Target Street, close to the
Calabar Zoo,
The two chose the cheap “short
time spot” located at Atu Street
for early evening sex session
before the incident happened.
A source who witnessed the
incident said he was called at
about 5 p.m. by the owner of the
short time spot to come and help
him as he had a “situation which
he alone could not handle. So as
a good friend I had to get there
fast.
“When I got there, I went into
the room and saw a young man
on the floor with foam coming
out of his mouth and I called the
police who came and took the
corpse to the mortuary and the
lady to Atakpa Police Station”.
When P.M.NEWS visited Atakpa
Poloice Station, Peace, who is
light in complexion, said she was
not the cause of the death of the
man as she has had sex with
several other men and they did
not die.
“I did not kill him as many men
have slept with me and they did
not die and this was not the first
time Ete Samuel was doing it
with me.”
Accoding to her, she could have
“escaped but since I know I am
not the cause of his death, I had
to wear him his trousers before
calling people to help me.”
She said she noticed that the
man was shaking and she
thought the man was about
reaching orgasm “but when he
did not make any move of
coming down from my body
after some time I pushed him
and saw that he was foaming in
his mouth.”
The lady, who is still in police
detention, according to ASP
Hogan Bassey , the Police image
maker for Cross River State, is to
help with more information “on
how the man died.”

HealthSacked Lagos Doctors Reinstatement Letters Ready by shesco(op): 5:13am On Jun 03, 2012
Following the recalled doctors demand for official letters reinstating them back to the Lagos State Health Service, the state government, yesterday, said the letters were ready for collection tomorrow (Monday).

Disclosing this in a telephone chat with Sunday Vanguard, the Chief Medical Director of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Prof. David Oke, said the decision to give out the recall letters was decided upon after a long – hour meeting by government officials on Friday.

He said in LASUTH alone, no less than 400 letters were ready for collection. He said the letters were for all cadres of medical doctors including,House Officers, Medical Officers, Resident Doctors, Consultants and Senior Consultants as well as Honourary Consultants. On the content of the letters, he said the letters was only to withdraw the sack letters and acknowledge that they had been withdrawn.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director, Forever Living Products, Nigeria/Benin Republic, Mr. Cornelius Tay, has advised medical doctors intent on making more money and contributing to the development of health care delivery in the country to join the distributorship network of his company.

Speaking in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where his company had feted distributors, Tay urged doctors to use the opportunity provided by their training to promote healthy living for the people.

Speaking to newsmen, Tay called on striking doctors to make the interest of the people their topmost priority. “We are making a call to all the striking doctors not to allow more people to die, but to consider anything they can do to put the people first.

We are also inviting them to come and join our network and have access to our wonderful products. Nigerians should know that, as a company, we are concerned with the prevalence of high mortality and early death rates in the country, and that is what we are doing across the country with the help of very important personalities who are now in our company.

These include wives of very important government officials, professionals, lecturers and ordinary Nigerians. Many of these people are engaged in a programme with us whereby we can help to reduce early deaths.

Many of the products marketed by Forever can help people to enjoy better health and even reduce the incidents of illnesses and diseases. Anyone of them who chooses to come, we would be very happy to engage into our network and they would be far more successful”.

Mr Tay urged Nigerians to use FLP products to overcome illnesses and diseases. “People don’t need to die early in this country. We have products that can relieve people of some very complex diseases and help enhance overall productivity in our nation. We have solutions for many of the world’s illnesses. We would want people to come and be part of what we are doing”, he advised.

@matthew and others, you are doing a great job here.i say WELLDONE.
But the issue of giving out an assumed postume cut off marks will neva solve the problem on ground because doing so will only create fear in the mind of the students ,and you can never expect last yr cutoff mark to be the same with this yr,it wil rather be higher or lower based on general performance in various departments and also the numbers of those that applied for that course.
What you need now is prayer and studying past questions and nt asking for cut off marks.
