Language is an important part of our culture. If you want to rule Lagos and you cannot invest time to learn the language of the people you wanted to rule then you should ridiculed and flogged with it.

I understand what you meant by privileged upbringing. But it is not an excuse for him. None of my children can speak fluent Yoruba. My first child was 9 and his sister was 5 when they left Nigeria. Even before we left home, we use to joke that the sister yoruba is omo Ibo Yoruba. 20 something years later, Gbadebo Yoruba is probably better than that of my son. My daughter about a month ago was crying that we are laughing at her Yoruba when she was speaking with grandma.

They are my children and my wife is Yoruba, we are both from Lagos. My brother family did not join him until his first two sons have finished high school and the daughter already in high school. They are all fluent in Yoruba. Their mother is Igbo from Delta state. If tomorrow my children wanted my support to run for Lagos governor , I will tell them to go and first take time to learn the language and be fluent in it or they forget it. This would not be the case with my brother's children.

Been able to speak Yoruba is part of been a true Lagosians. You may be born in Lagos, you may be able to trace your root back before the Aworis, the Ijebus, the Eguns, the Benins, the Portuguese etc but if you can not speak the language you are just like any other JJC.

I know what I am saying . Yes, not all Nigerians have gardens, but people can improvise with sack farming for vegetables or lease undeveloped plots if land close to them for small scale Agriculture. The hunger out there is real and people should think out of the box. a family that earns 400k, and they cant even save. Then now imagine what will happen when tinubu now unleashes his personal income Tax and business tax by next year march 2027. When you earn your 500k or even less as a family man from your business or work, this government will first take out about 20 percent of that money as Personal income tax before you can now start spending from the money.
