wanaj0: BUT stocks are always adjusted for dividend! The idea is enter at an entry price where the dividend is not priced in. That way the speculator can make a quick 10% if he is lucky. Never a guarantee |

Agbalowomeri: The core business had 30% reduced gross revenue/premium, 50% increased claims (I hope the directors are not claiming lol!) and also made a loss That is why it was a poor performance Ah I see. I looked at the profit and calculated eps of 0.17. Didn't even look at the figures. It's bad o. |

onegentleguy: @Mpeace pls before u quote me wrongly or try to draw up funny conclusions, try to read thru and digest my post above. ...that was my follow up post immediately after the REVELATION on AIICO. Perhaps u saw it, but decided to skip it just so u could play up ur pranks to make something out of nothing.
Pls lets try and be a bit more mature here. ...we need to learn to use our heads and think right before drawing up non-existent inferences. Now hear this my dear; in a few cases, my REVELATION may have little or no connection to a coys result (it could be some other inner plays). ...for even if prices drop a bit, it means nothing as long as what was revealed comes to fulfilment. ...the most important thing for anyone that keys in on time would be to later reap gains from price appreciation. While the other REVELATION coys released fantastic results, am sure u'll recall that there was also a REVELATION on UACN, which recently released a poor result. ...but which did'nt really affect the price. ...for even with the poor result, those who bought UACN @ btw N15.1-15.4 immediately the revelation was made, are still in gain and will surely reap from more in no time !!
These REVELATIONS are REAL. ...and the core reason I sometimes put them out here is because I see this forum as a united front. There are some persons who do not compromise on their integrity. ...and take it or leave it, Onegentleguy is one of them. Those who truly know me know this !! Pls this will be the last time I'll address this sort of issue.
When ur thru with assimilating the above aforementioned post, just remain calm and keep watching to see how things shall later unfold in the short to mid term.
#ONELOVE I don't even see how this AIICO result is poor. |

wanaj0: THANKS. We have seen many times that Alhaji struggle to compete anytime the market becomes a free for all. That's why he cashed out of the Flour Business initially.
The Noodles division is a good example. Get to ANY market and see the number of Noodles on offer! Competition is stiff. With stiff competition, your best bet is going the NBL route of acquiring your competitors to create a 'monopoly'. Unfortunately, the flour milling business is so fragmented. So a 50% growth in revenue year on year is unsustainable. To achieve ANYTHING close, you either increase price, increase capacity (or new product) or do both. Now the market is FINITE with many competitors. So there is a limit to that. With the numerous competition there is a LIMIT. So expecting him to sustain current performance is wishful thinking.
Anytime Alhaji get into a competitive landscape, he struggles! He require monopolies to thrive. That is why his favourite investment are ones in which there is HIGH barrier of entry for competitors.
There is a reason why he failed in Banking and struggling in upstream oil and gas and did nothing with Telecomms.
Watch this space. But he is not a monopoly in Sugar. Seems to be thriving quite well there |

onegentleguy: Sir Wanajo while I agree that a PE less 10 is a better yardstick to guage the sustainability of their earnings, I believe u will also agree with me that DF is the epitome of a complete growth stock. ...and looking at the strength in their Nos, even a PE of 15 would never be any worry. Again I just wonder if u were actually refering to Dangote Flour in the part of ur post in bold. ...I think it will be comical for anyone to doubt the sustainability of DFs growth rate, given were they are coming from. ...but that would be only if u would want to admit to the TRUTH BEHIND THEIR FIGURES. Sustained earnings ? Yes. Sustained growth? Not so sure . Time will tell |

yok: MSCI MOVEMENT 26 MARCH 2018/MARKET COMMENT
The funds style has become consistent. Thus waiting for what fund is doing has now become boring. But, no problem, time to switch back to our knowledge bank of technical/fundamental analysis.
There is no doubt that the market is waking up from slumber.
Equally I am very happy with some of the results released yesterday. It indicates that that some companies still cares about their shareholders (talking about CCNN and MRS). These are stock worth keeping in our watch list for the future.
Tomorrow, I will like to talk about the importance of a balance portfolio in our equity investment. As humans need balance diet to grow, our portfolio must be balanced to avoid deficiencies that can befall an unbalanced portfolio.
Caution: This information is for educational purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. You may need to verify the data from other independent sources if in doubt.
LOL. Bro it became boring weeks ago. Your updates are appreciated though |

wanaj0: Average holding cost is less than 50kobo if you add dividends
I however have a strict policy. No single stock can constitute more than 25% of my portfolio (except GTB). Also, no sector should constitute more than 50%! To keep to the 'rule' some rebalancing must be done. So not really about fear. I have a question for you we can all benefit from. How much of your portfolio is in stocks and how much is in bonds at any time? Plus do you always keep some cash? |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by shigidi(m): 12:59pm On Mar 19, 2018 |
Trading is great. It always feels good buying low and selling high. However, as wanajo has said numerous times. Predicting the top and bottoms are a FALLACY. If you have a fundamental belief in the long term of your stock then sometimes you need to ignore gyrations. Even if you are lucky to sell at a high in hope to buy back, getting the so called "bottom" is one thing, getting your intended volumes is another. It is very difficult to liquidate 20 million naira worth of stock and buy it back at a lower price. Ignore itchy fingers when u can. Happy investing |

wanaj0: Actually one will be worse off by converting useless stocks into LONG TERM portfolio. It is like keeping a corpse in the house waiting for it to come alive! Once you realise the mistake (not out of emotions), just get out and put your money in fundamentally sound stocks.
A lot of people buy out of hype or sentiments. They don't even understand how the company they are buying their stocks create value. Emotional investing is nothing but gambling.
We are currently FAR from a market crash. Oil price is robust enough. The PE's of most stocks is still less than 10. The economy is recovering with growth expected in 2018. The election risk is overrated.
Flee the market if oil price drops below the budget benchmark and 'pipeline engineers' in the ND start to tamper with the oil pipelines. Oga wanajo you say we are far from markrt crash before. Now crash is at hand. Prices havent changed from this post to when Mr. Stockswatch came on board |

U did well by saying a prayer for her. ...pls lets all continue to pray fervently for the release and safe return of that innocent girl. We can also help keep up the spread of the news or support her search in any way we can. ...like I said before, God can use one of us here to save that innocent child.
In all, I have total faith and strongly believe that she will return home to them hale and hearty !! FOR OUR GOD ALMIGHTY WILL PROVE THAT HE IS GOD. ...HE HAS DONE IT MANY TIMES IN THE PAST, AND WILL SURELY DO IT AGAIN !!

Coolcash1: He should not worry because there is no cause for alarm. Gain derived from sale of shares, stocks, treasury bills, bonds are NOT subject to capital gain tax. This is in line with s.30 (1) & (2) of Capital Gains Tax Act of 1967 as amended to date.
However, the tax on such investments is withholding tax which is charged on the interest or dividend received on the capital sum. This tax is also final i.e. No other form of tax can be levied on the income.
Hope this helps... ( Gains accruing to a person from a disposal by him of Nigerian government securities, stocks and shares shall not be chargeable gains under this Act |

I learnt the 3 majority shareholders of UACN who now have a combined 22% of the company came in through the right offer. Pricing. They probably feel they are selling themselves short at 27 naira. |
