emmanuelewumi: That is why I said somethings can't be explained, retained earnings, ploughing back into the business with sensible leverage works like steroids in the growth of a business. What do you define as a sensible leverage? |

Chibuking81: Retained earning help the company grow, while dividend payment help the shareholders get returns on their investment, and it's the major reason investors invest.
If company keep retaining 100% of their investment over the years without dividend payment, that company need to be question.
What if they keep retaining and something goes wrong with that company, and their value drop drastically? The investor at this point has nothing to fall back on.
In fact NSE, should make rule that will mandate companies to pay at least certain percent of their quoted annual EPS to their shareholders, every year.
Some companies might manipulate their result by declaring fake high EPS. Then tell me what they are retaining, while some will retain, and uses it for their personal business outside that of company own business.
The truth still remains that, what you eat, is only what you gain Amazon paid no diviend for how many years? Yet their share price is through the roof |

TLAX: For those who bought shares from November 2017, dividend yields on your stock are going to be sub 5%. It may still be attractive to you if you annualize considering how long you have held, and how quickly, and at what price you can dispose. My forecast Y/E dividend for some companies are as follows, so over to you guys. Do the yield calcaulations based on your Av. Cost Price:
UCAP - 55k Afriprud - 50k UBA - 60k Zenith - N1.95 - N2.00 Fidelity - 18k - 22k FCMB - 10k Sterling Bank - 0k Diamond - 0k - 10k Access - 50k FBNH - 15k Eterna - 50k Transcorp - 5k DangSugar - N1 Nascon - 80k Danflour - 0k
These figures are strictly my personal opinion from proprietary calculation and forecast, and not supported by any inside information. It is also not an invitation to buy/sell in anticipation of predicted dividends.
Bottom Line: Be clear on why you are buying each share. Excellent work. Thank you |

emmanuelewumi: The company has over N17 billion in FG bond, state bonds and corporate bonds.
N5 billion in Treasury Bills, N800 million in cash , unfortunately the company didn't invest in stocks in 2016. Looking forward to what 2017 result will look like.
Note this is a company with just 106 workers. This is where UCAP and Afriprud may hammer this 2017 results. Both have stock investments |

I was just concentrating at the numbers of DS only and giving the top price it will get to unknown that there is another one(DF). I lost interest in it when those south Africans messed the firm up and were churning loss after loss. You can always join at 12 naira . Its never too late |

In a bull market every one is an expert! Big jay ever the pessimist. I'm sure Oceanic of 2008 still in your head You are right on the recent euphoria. However, earnings are nowhere near as bloated as then. Not yet anyways. Even a quick glance at the famous SHILLER PE will agree. But you are right. Men need to be guided |

Do not ever average down , its not healthy. AVERAGE UP. 90% of the time you AVERAGE UP. You only AVERAGE down when it's a solid dividend paying stock. Even then. Cherry pick. NEVER PUMP ACTION |
