Nice one

Please when answering a committee, NEVER accept u heard the paper leaked.

If I am in that panel, I will ask u, what did u do as a departmental president when u heard about the leakage?

By virtue of your position u need to report such when u hear, in a case u don't, never accept u heard such.

#just an advice

I think she meant she heard it during the exams like everyone else. It would be absurd to claim "Oh I'm just hearing of it now" in the presence of the committee when it was reported in an exam hall that you were seated in I guess..

Education / Re: What's Next After Been Denied Admission? by Shinelle(f): 7:09am On Mar 18, 2018

Study harder. Even your sentence construction is not good enough. You should rather admit that you failed your admission tests and not that you were denied adnission.

I don't think it's fair to shut someone down on the grounds of sentence construction. Your post isn't error free too and you're probably a graduate. So it is right to say you should have been denied yours then?

@OP, I advise you apply your skills to keep you busy for now, then reapply to other schools in the next direct entry or jamb application. There really isn't much you can do about this lost one.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How To Identify A Scam Interview Invitation by Shinelle(f): 6:40pm On Aug 20, 2017
LaurelP:
I have seen so many Nairalanders complaining and lamenting their ordeal in the hands of fake scam companies who invite people for interview only to introduce them to fake drug marketing business.
I'm doing this not only because these companies waste people's time, energy and T-fair going to such interviews, but also because most of these scammers extort money from hapless job seekers thereby making their suffering times two.
Imagine a scammer extorting #10,500 from a graduate who have been unemployed for years, not to talk of the transport fare wasted going to such fruitless interviews or job chat as they usually call it.
Some people even borrow money to pay these sheep in wolves clothing, who promise them heaven on earth. Some will tell you that you will make half a million within 1 month and all that. If you're not careful, you will take a loan that you will not be able to repay thus causing embarrassment and lack of rest of mind. An unemployed person should have only himself to worry about, not having debts also.

So I believe that if we are properly guided, we will not fall into the hands of these scammers.
Having said that, there are ways by which one can identify a fake or scam interview invitation and there fore avoid such waste of time and money. The good thing is that most of their messages come in the same format, so you will know its fake!

1. The message does not bear a company name: most of these scammers won't include their names on the message you will receive. All you will see are the address, the time and date and a phone number. A genuine company will not hide its identity from a potential employee.

2. The message will say "interview/job briefing": whatever job briefing means I don't know!
3. You will see a code or reference: something like "HR=0056" or "REF=002". This is an indication of the code number of the person who invited you to the "job briefing".
4. It will contain a phone number: this is the number of your referer. Most genuine companies don't give phone numbers.
5. You will see HR Admin in the message instead of company name
6. If you call their number, they will be reluctant to give info on the company.

And pls, ignore those people sharing job flyers on the streets, and those ones they paste on walls. Those are scammers and some ritualists too. And also most of these so called agencies are avenues for duping unsuspecting job seekers. Pls shine your eyes well well.
I will post the names of some of these fake companies/ agencies later.

Pls if you have any experiences inthe hands of these scammers kindly share it here so that others can learn and avoid them too. Thank you

Cheers!

Thank you for this post!

Family / Re: Would You Return A Problematic Adopted Child? by Shinelle(f): 5:58pm On Jan 31, 2017
I think the number 1 issue here is that we have not defined 'problematic' , some comments have limited it to being stubborn , hmm. I know of a family where they adopted a child ( a baby).. she has grown to be 10 years, she cant walk, talk properly, feed herself.. I don't know the exact word for this but im sure there is.. cos its not imbecillism.. They have been carrying this burden, but believe me, it is not easy at all.

The minimum I have before Ajah is without wardrobe and it's 450k total package in Elegant court. The other one at Atlantic Beach estate is a shared flat but the owner is not based in Nigeria,he only wants to let out one of the room self contained and total package for that one is 400k, everything is in the house already, all you need to bring are your clothes.
There's another in Chevy View, shared flat as well. Total package is 600k. Every other ones I have are after Ajah.
There's in Sangotedo but no wardrobe, total package is 260k (new house),there are in Majek as well. The one with wardrobe in Majek is 260k total package. Other ones without wardrobe 240k-310k (new house).

I will be in Lagos from tomorrow, can I call you to check out one or two Of these over the weekend . Eg the 400k package. Or whatsapp so I could see pictures of those . Will pm u now.

Im surprised that its the money/offer thats tempting, not even the having to be with your family while you work.

My advice is stick to ur current job only if you have plans to relocate your family soon. Or else go back home ☺

Already prepping myself for 2017 pwc GT program.
Hopefully the successful 2016 candidates could throw more light on their experiences through each stage of the recruitment. ..... correct me if am wrong but from what i gathered, there is the online application, shl online numerical test (18 questions in 25mins) and verbal test (30 questions in 19mins) comprising of a yes no or cannot say answer from the passages, then the verification tests same as above at the pwc hq lagos, then a personality test which has to be geared towards pwc's 3 simple yet unique values; leadership, teamwork and excellence. If successful, there will a group discussion and interview invite and all these may last a period of 7 months +.
Sounds fair, for an Accounting major like me who has been very keen to get into auditing, a Big 4/6 professional services firm is worth the wait.
Congrats to successful candidates.
See you soon

I will try to put in my two cents when the time comes, just use mentions to get my attention.

You studied Accounting (like me) , so ild advice you apply into as many of the Big 4/6 as you can. If you eventually perform really good, you may have to choose! They're processes are more or less same, so the experience from one will be useful in the other.
Wish you the Best of luck ahead!
