Moses Warned Pharaoh 1. Moses Warned his People 7:103, Qur'an Then We sent after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were unjust toward them. So see how was the end of the corrupters - Exodus 3:9 - 10, Torah [When God said,] "Now therefore, behold, the cry of the Children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression whereby the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh, that you may bring forth My people, the Children of Israel out of Egypt. 20:47 - 48, Qur'an So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance. Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.'" 10:83, Qur'an [But] no one believed Moses, except some youths among his people, for fear of Pharaoh and his establishment that they would persecute them. And indeed, Pharaoh was haughty within the land, and indeed, he was of the transgressors. 2. Moses was Ridiculed 43:46 - 47, Qur'an [So] certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds." But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them. 26:23 - 24, Qur'an Pharaoh said, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 26:25 - 29, Qur'an [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 43:51 - 54, Qur'an [So] Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does the kingdom of Egypt not belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see? Or am I not better than this one who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear? Then why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?" So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient of God. 20:63, Qur'an [For] they said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way." 3. Moses was Threatened to be Killed 40:25, Qur'an [So] when [Moses] brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive." But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error. 40:26, Qur'an And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land." 40:28 - 29, Qur'an [But] a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is God' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, God does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar. O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of God if it came to us?" Pharaoh said, "I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct." 40:30 - 31, Qur'an And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies - like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And God wants no injustice for [His] servants." 7:123 - 124, Qur'an [But] Pharaoh said, "Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 26:53 - 56, Qur'an [So] Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers and said, "Indeed, those are but a small band, and indeed, they are enraging us, and indeed, we are a cautious society..." 7:128, Qur'an [So] Moses said to his people, "Seek help through God and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to God. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous." 4. Moses was Saved, Pharaoh was Destroyed Exodus 6:1, Torah Then the Lord said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land." Exodus 7:4 - 5, Torah [For] Pharaoh will not hear you, that I may lay My hand upon Egypt, and bring forth My armies, [and] My people, the Children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgements. And the Egyptians will know that I [am] the Lord, when I stretch forth My hand upon Egypt, and bring out the Children of Israel from among them." 10:90 - 92, Qur'an [So] We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those in submission [to God]." Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters? So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless. 17:103, Qur'an So he intended to drive them from the land, but We drowned him and those with him all together. Psalms 106:10 - 11, Torah And [thus] He saved them from the hand of him who hated [them], and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. And the waters covered their enemies, there was not one of them left. 40:45, Qur'an So God protected [Moses] from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment - 79:25 - 26, Qur'an God seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [God]. 44:25 - 27, Qur'an [And] how many did they leave behind of noble sites and gardens and springs and crops and comfort wherein they were amused? 43:56, Qur'an [Thus] We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples. |
Shu'ayb Warned Midian 1. Shu'ayb Warned his People 29:36, Qur'an And to Midian We sent their brother Shu'ayb, and he said, "O my people, worship God and expect the Last Day and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption. 7:86 - 87, Qur'an And do not sit on every path, threatening and averting from the way of God those who believe in Him, seeking to make it seem deviant. And remember when you were few and He increased you. And see how was the end of the corrupters. And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that with which I have been sent and a group that has not believed, then be patient until God judges between us. And He is the best of judges." 7:90, Qur'an [But] the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people said, "If you should follow Shu'ayb, indeed, you would then be losers." 11:89 - 90, Qur'an [So] Shu'ayb said, "O my people, let not your dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih. And the people of Lot are not far away from you. And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate." 2. Shu'ayb was Ridiculed 11:91, Qur'an They said, "O Shu'ayb, we do not understand much of what you say, and indeed, we consider you among us as weak. And if not for your family, we would have stoned you; and you are not to us one respected." 26:185 - 188, Qur'an [And] they said, "You are only of those affected by magic. You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars. So cause to fall upon us fragments of the heaven, if you should be of the truthful." [So] he said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 3. Shu'ayb was Threatened to be Evicted 11:87, Qur'an They said, "O Shu'ayb, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers worship or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed, you are the forbearing, the discerning!" 11:88, Qur'an He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him...? And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through God. Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return." 7:88, Qur'an [So] the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people said, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion." He said, "Even if we were unwilling?" 4. Shu'ayb was Saved, Midian was Destroyed 11:94 - 95, Qur'an [So] when Our command came, We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us. And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone as if they had never prospered therein. Then, away with Midian as Thamud was taken away. 7:91 - 92, Qur'an So the earthquake seized [Midian], and they became within their home corpses fallen prone. Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was as though they had never resided there. Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was they who were the losers. |
Lot Warned Sodom 1. Lot Warned his People Genesis 18:16 - 17, Torah [Then] the men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. And the Lord said, "Should I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?" Genesis 13:13, Torah [For] the men of Sodom [were] wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly. 29:31, Qur'an And [so] when Our messengers came to Abraham with the good tidings, they said, "Indeed, we will destroy the people of that Lot's city. Indeed, its people have been wrongdoers." 15:61, Qur'an [Then] the messengers came to the family of Lot - Genesis 19:1, Torah [Whereby] there came two angels to Sodom at evening; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom, and Lot, seeing [them], rose up to meet them; and he prostrated with his face toward the ground. 29:34, Qur'an [They said,] "Indeed, we will bring down on the people of this city punishment from the heaven because they have been defiantly disobedient." 11:77, Qur'an [Thus] when Our messengers, [the angels], came to Lot, he was anguished for them and felt for them great discomfort and said, "This is a trying day." 37:133, Qur'an [So] indeed, Lot was among the messengers. 26:161 - 163, Qur'an When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. So fear God and obey me." 11:78, Qur'an [Then] his people came hastening to him, and before [this] they had been doing evil deeds. He said, "O my people, these are my daughters; they are purer for you. So fear God and do not disgrace me concerning my guests. Is there not among you a man of reason? 29:29, Qur'an Indeed, you approach men and cut off the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil." And the answer of his people was not but they said, "Bring us the punishment of God, if you should be of the truthful." 2. Lot was Ridiculed Genesis 19:4 - 5, Torah But before they laid down, the men of the city, [even] the men of Sodom, encompassed the house, both old and young, all the people from every quarter. And they called to Lot, and said to him, "Where [are] the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may know them." 15:68 - 70, Qur'an Lot said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. And fear God and do not disgrace me." They said, "Did we not forbid you from the world?" 3. Lot was Threatened to be Evicted Genesis 19:6 - 7, Torah [Then] Lot went out at the door to them, and shut the door after him, and said, "I pray you, brethren, do not do so wickedly." 26:167, Qur'an [But] they said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." Genesis 19:9, Torah And they said, "Stand back." And they said [again], "This one [fellow] came in to sojourn, and he needs to be a judge, now we will deal worse with you, than with them." And they pressed sore upon the man, [even] Lot, and came near to break the door. [Wisdom of Solomon 19:14 - 17], Torah For the Sodomites did not receive those [messengers] whom they did not know when they came; but they brought friends into bondage, who had well deserved of them. And not only so, but peradventure, some respect will be had of those, because they did not use strangers friendly: but they afflicted them very grievously, whom they had received with feasting, and were already made partakers of the same laws with them. Therefore, even they were stricken with blindness, as they were at the doors of the righteous man; when, being compassed about with horrible, great darkness, everyone sought the passage of his own doors. 4. Lot was Saved, Sodom was Destroyed 54:36 - 38, Qur'an [Thus] Lot had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." And there came upon them by dawn an abiding punishment. Genesis 19:24 - 25, Torah [Whereby] the Lord rained brimstone and fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens; and He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. [Wisdom of Solomon 19:13], Torah And [so] punishments came upon the sinners, not without former signs by the force of thunders; for they suffered justly according to their own wickedness, insomuch as they used a more hard and hateful behavior toward strangers. 2 Peter 2:6, Gospel [So] turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, [God] condemned [them] with an overthrow, making [them] an example to those who after should live ungodly. 7:83, Qur'an [But] We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained with the evildoers. Luke 17:32, Gospel [So] remember Lot's wife. Genesis 19:26, Torah [For] his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. 29:35, Qur'an And We have certainly left it as a sign of clear evidence for a people who use reason. |
Abraham Warned Haran 1. Abraham Warned his People Joshua 24:2, Torah [Remember when] Joshua said to all the people, "Thus the Lord says, God of Israel, 'Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the river in old time, [even] Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor - and they served other gods.'" 19:41 - 42, Qur'an [So] mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. When he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?" 29:16 - 18, Qur'an [Thus] We sent Abraham, [and] he said to his people, "Worship God and fear Him. That is best for you, if you should know. You only worship, besides God, idols, and you produce a falsehood. Indeed, those you worship besides God do not possess for you provision. So seek from God provision and worship Him and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned. And if you deny - already nations before you have denied. And there is not upon the messenger except the duty of clear notification." 2. Abraham was Ridiculed 21:51 - 52, Qur'an [So] We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing, when he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 21:55, Qur'an They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 21:58 - 59, Qur'an So he made [their idols] into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 21:63 - 65, Qur'an He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 21:66 - 67, Qur'an He said, "Then do you worship instead of God that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? Uff to you and to what you worship instead of God. Then will you not use reason?" 40:83, Qur'an [But] when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule. 3. Abraham was Threatened to be Stoned and Burned 21:68, Qur'an [For] they said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act." 19:46, Qur'an [And his father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time." 37:97, Qur'an [So his people] said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 4. Abraham was Saved, His People were Destroyed 29:24, Qur'an [Thus] the answer of Abraham's people was not but that they said, "Kill him or burn him," but God saved him from the fire. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe. 21:70, Qur'an So they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. Genesis 11:32 - 12:1, Torah And [so] the days of [his father] Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran. Now the Lord had said to Abraham, "Get out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you." Genesis 12:4, Torah So Abraham departed, as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him, and Abraham [was] seventy five years old when he departed out of Haran. 21:71, Qur'an [So] We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 29:26, Qur'an [For] Lot believed him. [And Abraham] said, "Indeed, I will emigrate to [the service of] my Lord. Indeed, He is the Almighty, the Most Wise." Genesis 12:5, Torah And [so] Abraham took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and they came into the land of Canaan. |
Salih Warned Thamud 1. Salih Warned his People 27:45, Qur'an And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, saying, "Worship God," and at once they were two parties conflicting. 27:46, Qur'an [Salih] said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of God that you may receive mercy?" 7:74, Qur'an [Salih continued,] "And remember when He made you successors after 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of God and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption." 2. Salih was Ridiculed 27:47, Qur'an [But] they said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." [Salih] said, "Your omen is with God. Rather, you are a people being tested." 54:24 - 25, Qur'an [But] Thamud said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 7:75 - 76, Qur'an [And] the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people said to those who were oppressed - to those who believed among them, "Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which he was sent, are believers." Said those who were arrogant, "Indeed we, in that which you have believed, are disbelievers." 3. Salih was Threatened to be Killed 91:11, Qur'an [So] Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression - 27:48 - 50, Qur'an [For] there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs]. They said, "Take a mutual oath by God that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'" And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they did not perceive. 4. Salih was Saved, Thamud was Destroyed 26:155 - 156, Qur'an [So Salih] said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day. And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day." 7:77 - 78, Qur'an So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone. 29:38, Qur'an [Thus We destroyed] Thamud and 'Aad, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception. 27:53, Qur'an [But] We saved those who believed and used to fear God. |
Hud Warned 'Aad 1. Hud Warned his People 46:21, Qur'an And mention, the brother of 'Aad, when [Hud] warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except God. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day. 26:126 - 127, Qur'an So fear God and obey me. And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 7:68 - 69, Qur'an [And] I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I am to you a trustworthy adviser. Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you? And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah and increased you in stature extensively. So remember the favors of God that you might succeed." 2. Hud was Ridiculed 41:15, Qur'an [But] as for 'Aad, they were arrogant upon the earth without right and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not consider that God who created them was greater than them in strength? But they were rejecting Our signs. 26:136 - 138, Qur'an [For] they said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. This is not but the custom of the former peoples, and we are not to be punished." 7:66, Qur'an [And] the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people said, "Indeed, we see you in foolishness, and indeed, we think you are of the liars." 11:53 - 56, Qur'an [And] they said, "O Hud, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not ones to leave our gods on your say-so. Nor are we believers in you. We only say that some of our gods have possessed you with evil." He said, "Indeed, I call God to witness, and witness [yourselves] that I am free from whatever you associate with God other than Him. So plot against me all together; then do not give me respite. Indeed, I have relied upon God, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature but that He holds its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a path [that is] straight." 3. Hud was Threatened to be Driven out of the Land 14:11 - 12, Qur'an [So] their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but God confers favor upon whom He wills of His servants. It has never been for us to bring you evidence except by permission of God. And upon God let the believers rely. And why should we not rely upon God while He has guided us to our [good] ways? And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And upon God let those who would rely [indeed] rely." 14:13 - 15, Qur'an [But] those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers. And We will surely cause you to dwell in the land after them. That is for he who fears My position and fears My threat." And they requested victory from God, and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant. 11:59, Qur'an And [so] that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant. 4. Hud was Saved, 'Aad was Destroyed 7:70, Qur'an They said, "Have you come to us that we should leave what our fathers have worshiped and worship God alone? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful." 46:24 - 25, Qur'an [But] when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient: a wind, within it a painful punishment, destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people. 7:72, Qur'an So We saved [Hud] and those with him by mercy from Us. And We eliminated those who denied Our signs, and they were not at all believers. 11:60, Qur'an And they were [therefore] followed in this world with a curse and [as well] on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, 'Aad denied their Lord; then away with 'Aad, the people of Hud. |
Noah Warned Before the Flood 1. Noah Warned his People 53:52, Qur'an [Has he not been informed that it is God who destroyed] the people of Noah before? Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. Genesis 6:11 - 13, Torah [For] the earth was also corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted His way upon the earth. And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth." 11:25 - 26, Qur'an [Thus] We had certainly sent Noah to his people, saying, "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner, that you not worship except God. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a painful day." 2. Noah was Ridiculed 23:24 - 25, Qur'an But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if God had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers. He is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time." 7:61 - 62, Qur'an [Noah] said, "O my people, there is not error in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds. I convey to you the messages of my Lord and advise you; and I know from God what you do not know. 11:34, Qur'an [But] my advice will not benefit you - although I wished to advise you - if God should intend to put you in error. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned." 26:111, Qur'an They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?" 71:5 - 8, Qur'an [So Noah] said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. But my invitation increased them not except in flight. And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with great arrogance. Then I invited them publicly." 11:36, Qur'an [So] it was revealed to Noah that, "No one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing." 3. Noah was Threatened to be Stoned 11:28 - 29, Qur'an [So Noah] said, "O my people, have you considered if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord while He has given me mercy from Himself but it has been made unapparent to you, should we force it upon you while you are averse to it? And O my people, I ask not of you for it any wealth. My reward is not but from God. And I am not one to drive away those who have believed. Indeed, they will meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people behaving ignorantly." 26:116, Qur'an [But] they said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned." 4. Noah was Saved, His People were Destroyed 71:21 - 24, Qur'an [So] Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss. And they conspired an immense conspiracy. And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.' And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error." 11:32, Qur'an [So] they said, "O Noah, you have disputed us and been frequent in dispute of us. So bring us what you threaten us, if you should be of the truthful." 54:10 - 12, Qur'an So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." Then We opened the gates of the heaven with water pouring down and caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 25:37, Qur'an [Thus,] the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them a sign for mankind. Genesis 7:23, Torah [Whereby] every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heavens; and they were destroyed from the earth, and Noah only remained [alive], and those who [were] with him in the ark. 54:13 - 17, Qur'an [For] We carried him on a construction of planks and nails, sailing under Our eyes as reward for he who had been denied. And We left it as a sign, so are there any who will remember? And how severe were My punishment and warning. And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so are there any who will remember? |
Qur'anic Warners They ask you, about the Hour - the Last Day - the Day of Judgement: When is its Arrival? They were About to Evict you - that is Our Established Way of Our Messengers and you will Not Find Any Alteration 33:21, Qur'an There has certainly been for you in the messenger of God an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in the Last Day and God, and who remembers God often. 8:49, Qur'an [For remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease said, "Their religion has deluded those [Muslims]?" But whoever relies upon God - then indeed, God is Almighty and Most Wise. 8:30, Qur'an And [remember] when those who disbelieved plotted against you [O Muhammad and you who have believed] to restrain you or kill you or evict you. But they plan, and God plans. And God is the best of planners. 60:4, Qur'an [And likewise,] there has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him - 29:24, Qur'an [For] the answer of Abraham's people was not but that they said, "Kill him or burn him," but God saved him from the fire. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe. 26:116, Qur'an [And] they said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned." 40:26, Qur'an And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land." 27:48 - 49, Qur'an And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs]. They said, "Take a mutual oath by God that we will kill [Salih] by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'" 27:56, Qur'an [And] the answer of Lot's people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure." 7:88, Qur'an [And] the eminent ones who were arrogant among [Shu'ayb's] people said, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion." He said, "Even if we were unwilling?" 14:13, Qur'an [Thus] those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers." 85:7 - 8, Qur'an [For] they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. And they resented them not except because they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. 43:61, Qur'an And indeed, Jesus will be a sign for knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. Luke 23:21, Gospel [For] they cried, saying, "Crucify [him], crucify him." Matthew 27:23, Gospel [But] the governor said, "Why, what evil has he done?" But they cried out the more, saying, "Let him be crucified." 60:6, Qur'an [And so] there has certainly been for you in them an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in the Last Day and God. [But] whoever turns away - then indeed, God is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy. 17:76 - 77, Qur'an [So] indeed, they were about to drive you from the land to evict you therefrom. And then when they do, they will not remain there after you, except for a little. That is Our established way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find in Our way any alteration. Isaiah 66:5, Torah [So] hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at His word; "Your brethren who hated you, who cast you out for My name's sake, said, 'Let the Lord be glorified,' but He will appear to your joy, and they will be ashamed." The Established Way of God which has Preceded Among His Servants There has Certainly been in them an Excellent Pattern for Anyone whose Hope is in God and the Last Day The Established Way of God [1] Noah Warned Before the Flood [2] Hud Warned 'Aad [3] Salih Warned Thamud [4] Abraham Warned Haran [5] Lot Warned Sodom [6] Shu'ayb Warned Midian [7] Moses Warned Pharaoh Seven of the Often Repeated Narrations Jeremiah and the Prophets Warned Jerusalem There has Certainly been for you in them an Excellent Pattern Jesus and his Disciples Warned the Lost Sheep of Israel Jerusalem was Trodden Down by the Gentiles Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum The Parable of the Vineyard The Parable of the King's Wedding O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who Kill the Prophets Jesus will be a Sign for Knowledge of the Hour Muhammad Warned Mecca Muhammad was Ridiculed The Disbelievers Plotted to Kill or Evict them Muhammad was Saved by God through the Angels Mecca was Destroyed by Muhammad and the Angels You will Warn of the Last Day You will be Ridiculed You will be Hated of All Nations for God's Name's Sake This is the Day of Judgement The Established Way of God which has Preceded Among His Servants 1. God sent a messenger from themselves to state clearly 2. Those who disbelieved ridiculed the messenger 3. Every nation intended to seize their messenger 4. The messenger was saved by God, and the criminals were destroyed 40:82 - 85, Qur'an Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn. And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they merely rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule. And when they saw Our punishment, they said, "We believe in God alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him." But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. It is the established way of God which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost. 1. God Sent a Messenger from themselves to State Clearly 9:70, Qur'an [So] has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] 'Aad and Thamud and the people of Abraham and the companions of Midian and the towns overturned? Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And God would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves - 4:165, Qur'an [For God sent] messengers as bringers of good tidings and warners so that mankind will have no argument against God after the messengers. And ever is God Almighty and Most Wise. 14:4, Qur'an [And so] We did not send any messenger except speaking in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and God sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Almighty, the Most Wise. 17:15, Qur'an [And so] whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger. 39:56, Qur'an Lest a soul should say, "Oh [how great is] my regret over what I neglected in regard to God and that I was among the mockers." 7:173 - 174, Qur'an Or [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with God before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?" And thus do We [explain in] detail the verses, and perhaps they will return. 7:63, Qur'an Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you and that you may fear God so you might receive mercy? 2. Those who Disbelieved Ridiculed the Messenger 15:10 - 13, Qur'an And [so] We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, among the sects of the former peoples. [But] no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 3. Every Nation Intended to Seize their Messenger 40:5, Qur'an The people of Noah denied before them and the factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by falsehood to invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how was My penalty. 85:7 - 8, Qur'an And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. And they resented them not except because they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy. 17:76 - 77, Qur'an And indeed, they were about to drive you from the land to evict you therefrom. And then when they do, they will not remain there after you, except for a little. That is Our established way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find in Our way any alteration. 4. The Messenger was Saved by God, and the Wrongdoers were Destroyed 12:110 - 111, Qur'an The messengers continued until, when they despaired and were certain that they had been denied, there came to them Our victory, and whoever We willed was saved. And Our punishment cannot be repelled from the people who are criminals. There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was [the Qur'an] a narration invented, but a guidance and mercy for a people who believe and a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things. 18:55, Qur'an [But] nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them. 14:45 - 47, Qur'an And [yet] you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you many examples. And they had planned their plan, but with God is their plan, even if their plan had been to move the mountains. So never think that God will fail in His promise to His messengers - Psalms 37:39 - 40, Torah [For] the salvation of the righteous [is] of the Lord, [He is] their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord will help them, and deliver them, He will deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him. 40:78, Qur'an [Thus] We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those We have related to you, and among them are those We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of God. So when the command of God comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all]. 11:120, Qur'an [So] each story We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make firm your heart. And there has come to you, in this, the truth and an instruction and a reminder for the believers. 12:3, Qur'an [And] We relate to you, the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur'an although you were, before it, among the unaware. |
