I don't know too much about jail personels but i think there is someone that can signs off on a document on how good your character has become and the court might just release you.

There's no document, it's called parole and like you said it's based on good behavior,for most crimes except first degree murders there's always a possibility of parole as am incentive for you to behave well in prison.
A typical 10 years sentence could see you serve just 7years and released on parole because the prison system in the USA is too packed and there's no much space really

New accusations have been filed against arrested detained Nigerian Instagram big boy, Hushpuppi, claiming that he committed fraud and laundered more than $400,000 while still in jail in the U.S.

Hushpuppi used stolen cards to buy several iPhone 13, PS5, iPads and MacBooks for resale under the nose of FBI.
Reports says he laundered over $400k using economic impact debit cards which are usually used for stimulus checks and recovery rebates, generally they are payments made by the government to it's citizens.

Prisoners are allowed some minutes on the computer once in a while for video calls and to make researches about Thier cases which is what hushpuppi took advantage of.
