PoliticsSen Ben Murray Bruce: Pay Your Workers And Stop Excuses by sholly007(op): 3:28pm On May 14, 2015
Sen Ben Murray Bruce To Governors.

The owner of Silverbird Television and Senator elect, Mr Ben Murray Bruce have advised state governments that are still owning their workers months of salaries in arrears, to pay them and stop making unnecessary excuses.
He berated the governors for blaming the Federal government over their inability to pay their workers after they have collected all their Federal Allocations to date.
“If I am unable to pay over 1,000 of my staff in Silverbird, will I blame my father?”, Sen Bruce queried.
Majority of the state governors are owing their workers over 6 months wages. States like Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Edo are the worst culprit, as they wasted their Federal allocation on the Presidential elections and funding party members in some other elections.
The huge debt profile of some of the state governments makes it difficult for them to be given loan from any Nigerian bank or overseas.
Early this week Kabiru Aregbesola, the son of Osun state Governor was arrested at the Departure Lounge of the Muritala Mohammaed, Lagos with Currencies totaling over $900,000, while his father is owing workers about 5 months salaries..

EducationFG: Approves Nigeria First Maritime University by sholly007(op): 7:00am On May 14, 2015
Federal Government has approved the first Nigerian Maritime University.
Minister of Information, Patricia Akwashiki told State House Correspondents after day’s Federal Executive Council meeting that there was a ratification of approval of a provisional licence for the establishment of Nigerian Maritime University, at Okerenkoko in Delta State.
Akwashiki said the Council also took other decisions concerning harmonization of taxes, development of small businesses, and production of e-passport booklets among others.

“There was also approval of a report of the ministerial implementation committee on harmonisation of taxes and levies across the federation, because we have the issue especially of service providers, who when they move from one state into another they are also levied by the new state and also by the local government,” she said.

On the e-passport booklets, Minister of Interior, Abba Moro who was also at the briefing, said “the contract for Irish Technology was renewed for a period of four years and the production of 10million e-passport booklets in their various categories: 32 page, 62 page, and their counterpart of diplomatic and official passports.

“The renewal is as a result of subsisting agreement between the ministry of interior and the Irish Smart Technologies limited which an indigenous company that has been since 2007 involved in the production of e-passport and related travel documents for the Nigerian Immigration Service even before I became the minister of interior.

“I am not sure that it is because no other organization can produce that is the reason for the award of the contract to Irish Technology. They have performed very well and we have looked at all the perimeters of the agreement and agreed that I’m the period under review, they have performed very well.

“Within the period, they have been able to generate N51billion onshore and within the period under review, they have been able to generate for the government of Nigeria through the sale of passport and ancillary travel documents the sum of $5million offshore.

“Nigerians dealing with the NIS are satisfied by our survey that they performed very well and on the part of government in terms of revenue generation and quality of travel documents and the international identity and integrity of travel documents, they have done very well, that is why we renewed the contract which is completely contractor financed” each production cost N693.8kobo.”

PoliticsIlorin Emirate Backs Up Bukola Saraki For Senate Presidency by sholly007(op): 11:18am On May 13, 2015
Ilorin Emirate Descendants
Progressive Union (IEDPU)
yesterday urged political
leaders in the country to
consider Senator Bukola
Saraki for the seat of
Senate President.
Addressing reporters in
Ilorin, President of IEDPU,
Alhaji Abdulhamid Adi said
that Kwara and Kogi state
have not been opportune
to occupy the exalted
position.
Alhaji Adi added that: “We
are therefore deeply
concerned that within
Northern political
arrangement to which
Ilorin Emirate squarely
belongs with all
commitment and loyalty,
the area is continuously
being marginalized for
unspecified reasons.
“The present North Central
Zone comprises the old
Kwara, old Benue Plateau
and part of old North
Western state (within the
old 12 state structure).
While the old Benue
Plateau has produced the
longest serving head of
state, three senate
presidents including the
incumbent, the small part
of old North-Western state
(now Niger) has produced
two heads of state, it is
only Kwara state which
makes up Kwara and Kogi
that has not been
fortunate.
“For the purpose of clarity,
our support for Senator
Saraki is not politically
sponsored but borne out
of our conviction that he is
eminently qualified and
can serve the nation
creditably well. Such
support will always be
extended to any other
indigene of the emirate in
similar circumstances
irrespective of political
affiliation.
“This is our honest
position and we therefore
call on all and sundry to
support this stand in the
interest of national
cohesion.”
IEDPU president added that
the senator is noted for
fairness, equity and
adherence to principle in
political offices.
Reeling out the former
governor’s qualities, Alhaji
Adi said “he successfully
governed his
heterogeneous state for
eight years during which
he performed creditably
well as chairman of
governors’ forum. Indeed,
it was due to his
administrative sagacity and
political dexterity that the
novel body became
glamorous, enviable to the
extent that its
chairmanship has become
competitive.
“The former governor of
the state like his father, is a
bridge builder, highly
detribalized and a listening
politician. On different
occasions, the union has
had cause to disagree with
government policies at the
state level and the
gentleman had regularly
shown understanding and
maturity in handling such
matters.”

CrimeSelling Banned Drug Is Big Business -suspect by sholly007(op): 7:43pm On May 12, 2015
Niger State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 702.6 kilogrammes of drugs between January and last month. A suspect admitted that selling banned drug is big business for him. He said with the proceeds, he married three wives.
The Commander, Mr. Joseph Iweajuanwa, told Crime Watch Today in Minna, that 638.87 kilogrammes of the seizure were cannabis, 11.7kilogrammes were dizapham, 23.03 kilogrammes were tranagol while 29.26 kilogrammes were cough syrup with codeine.

He said a total of 526 kilogrammes of the drugs were seized in March in Kontagora. According to the NDLEA boss, the agency secured four convictions out of the 26 suspects.

Iweanjunwa also disclosed that a suspect, Abdullahi Aliyu, is cooling his heels at the Minna headquarters of the agency over allegations of selling banned drugs. He said he resorted to dealing in drugs when his efforts to join the Army failed.

The suspect, who was arrested by NDLEA operatives, said the business has enabled him to marry three (3) wives.

He was one of the suspects allegedly dealing in chloroform, a banned substance, across Niger State. The drug variously called ‘suck and die’, ‘suku dai’ or ‘soku daiye’ is said to be used mostly by youths to make them high.

Aliyusaid he was aware that the business was illegal, but it provided him with regular money with which he takes care of his family.

“I know one day I will be caught, but I can’t leave it because that is where I got money to feed my wife and my children”

Iweanjunwa said six youths have reportedly died while inhaling the substance, pointing out that the people of Paiko went into spontaneous jubilation at the arrest of Abdullahi.

According to the NDLEA boss, 13 litres of the substance was found with the suspect who claimed that he was supplied by Yakubu Lawan, who is also in the NDLEA net over similar allegation.

CrimeRochas Okorocha Warns Nigerian Youths Against Cybercrime by sholly007(op): 8:25am On May 12, 2015
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has complained the rate at which Nigerian youths go into cyber crime, internet fraud and social media abuse, which in turn has impacted negatively on the image of the country.

Okorocha, who was represented by his Deputy, Eze Madumere, stated this while addressing the Batch C Corps Members at the closing ceremony of their 3-week orientation exercise at the Orientation Camp in Umudi, Nkwerre Local Government of Imo State.

He said rather than taking the advantages inherent in the Internet and Social media in terms of research, information gathering, job opportunities and self development, youths have continued to use the social media platforms and the internet to propagate wrong information, fraud, mischief and crime.

He advised the Batch C Corp Members to desist from such acts and use these platforms as an effective tool to disseminate useful information, promote peace and unity in the Nation, sustainable development as well as good virtues of the Nation.

Mr Madumere however urged the corp members to be good ambassadors of homes and also exhibit good characters that would project them as good citizens of the country in the course of their one year mandatory service to their fatherland in Imo State.

PoliticsGMB Assistant Calls For End To Urhobo And Isoko Pipelines Bombing by sholly007(op): 7:42am On May 12, 2015
Coordinator of Niger Delta Security, NDS(Bibi Oduku), the safety wing of General Muhammadu Buhari Support Organisation, BSO, has enjoined aggrieved Urhobo and Isoko ex-militants in Delta State to shun further pipeline vandalism and threats of violence in the Niger Delta region.

When Bibi led members of the group on a courtesy visit to the factional President General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Chief Tuesday Onoge in Warri, alleged that many ex-militants were allegedly shortchanged in the Federal Government’s amnesty programme by the out-going administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that it should however, not be an excuse to go back to the days of pipeline vandalism.

He said: “I have personally made a representation to the President-Elect government about this issue and I have the assurance that all related cases will be given due attention, but you must first stop the acts and threats of vandalising oil facilities.”

Responding, Chief Onoge expressed delight at Bibi’s effort to bring ex-militants together for the common objective of securing a peaceful environment that will drive the much desired development in the Niger Delta by the incoming government.

he said “If the youths are angry, Niger Delta cannot be peaceful. Therefore, it has become expedient for the youths to forge a common front to achieve peace and attract development,” .

PoliticsAIT Saga: Still On The Purported AIT Ban by sholly007(op): 7:28am On May 12, 2015
Buhari to the newly constituted transition committee should now put a stop to the rancours and divisiveness among our people on the recent Buhari and AIT saga.
President-Elect and the VP Buhari/Osinbajo government is going to be a benevolent and participatory democracy where individual freedom of expression and press latitude will be guaranteed.
Whoever is involved in this breach of freedom or barring of any station from coverage should be sanctioned if it is actually true. We were all involved in the emergence and enthronement of this burgeoning democratic dispensation including AIT.

Media are the collective communication outlets or tools that are used to disseminate information to the people. It should also be the watchdog of democracy where freedom of speech is sacrosanct to all divergent views and opinions.

The last general elections espoused that Nigeria is no longer Nigeria of yesterday as today is now being used to shape tomorrow. We all know AIT’s antecedents.

hey should be allowed and accredited to cover any government or party’s event so that the new age of information will continue to checkmate premeditated lethal lies and sensational journalism.

Yes, AIT was involved in nihilistic journalism during electioneering campaigns, they are facing the burden of history now, but that is not a licence to bar it from its constitutional rights as a corporate entity or legal person. Buhari is a President-elect of all Nigerians irrespective of any affiliated idiosyncrasies (ethnic, party or religion).

We all collectively fought for Nigerian victory; we will not hesitate to call to order whoever wants to derail our nascent journey to a better Nigeria.

We should be mindful of our divisive comment and premeditated grapevine, and nurture this new Nigeria with care. The PDP government’s 16 years of waste should be our last collective journey to the past and we should face the future with determined optimism and possibilities.

BusinessBusiness Development Slow In Nigeria Says Babalakin by sholly007(op): 11:59am On May 11, 2015
Chairman of Bi-Courtney Limited, Dr. Bolanle Babalakin, (SAN), has expressed displeasure with the slow pace at which business grow in Nigeria.

He said this during the annual re-union conference lecture and award of N3.6m scholarships to 59 students organised by the University of Ife Muslim Graduate Association.

While speaking on the theme: “Challenges of Managing a Business in Nigeria: The Islamic Options”, the entrepreneur noted that Nigeria had no business.

He highlighted the challenges of business in the country as population, electricity, taxes and corruption among others.

He said: “We are still at the very rudimentary level of business but after thirty years, I had expected that we would be at a very higher level; involved with businesses that can transform the lives of our people, expand our horizon. We should be doing petty trading and other business activities at high level now.‎”

Jobs/VacanciesRe: All Working Class Lets Meet Here And Help Other Unemployed by sholly007: 8:04am On Apr 17, 2015
unclecycs:
The issue of Unemployment to me is a very terrible form of cancer that eats a person slowly and progressively and if not cured on time with some form of intervention by way of a job etc, such an individual if not careful will most likely deteriorate more or less become a shadow of his/her real self.
I say this using myself as a particular example because my life ,i am convinced, is a classic example of a man who has hit rock bottom due to unemployment and literally digging further down through the rock bottom as it seems like life isn't exactly done dishing out disappointments to me.
this will not be the first time i will be posting an article as regards the subject of unemployment and it wont be my last even if i eventually secure some form of gainful employment because i consider myself a really tough person and this one singular problem has really shaken me to the point i have all but lost hope.
Briefly, i am a petroleum engineer , Graduated from FUTO 2010/11 with a Beng 2'1, finished service 2012 and have remained jobless to this very minute, in retrospect i have to admit much of my problems was caused by me because maybe i was just too over confident, i was making decent grades and i was sure i wouldn't ever have a problem securing employment ,or maybe i was just unwise and at worst plain stupid. there had been a few opportunities ( say about 2) during service where i could have gained employment in a bank and maybe because i am just too fixated in an engineering job or maybe i am just not wise enough, i never really took any of these opportunities serious.
in effect i still think the problems i am facing now where caused by me and me alone because somewhere deep down i know i have what it takes to succeed in any of these 'majors'

i think if i have been to approximately 20 different job aptitude test/scholarship exams ; Akwa ibom at least 5 times Porth Harcourt at least 11 times , Lagos at least four times and i reside in calabar so one can already imagine the financial implications a well as kilometers traveled and in all this i have only made it to the second stage twice after which i crash out.

I have to mention i did an offshore safety training *(cost me money i hardly had) , hoping to get a job in Lagos cuz i was promised one only to travel to Lagos to be interviewed and i was told i could not be taken .

the worst part is the psychological/physical deterioration that comes with constant worry , the depression, the loneliness, right now i only receive a phone call from just one person, a girl am with and that's it.. i had to deactivate my Facebook because i was quite tired of going in there and seeing picture updates of my friends doing pretty well and i look at my situation and feel like a complete utter looser.
the saying that failure has no friends and success has many friends is indeed very true.. tested and trusted.

My parents (thank God i still have em both around) always try to encourage me ,telling me i should never loose hope that my time is coming but i cannot help feeling i have let them down cuz they had pretty high expectations as regards me.

So this is it, a man close to 30 with a degree , little or no relevant working experience and broke as they come. well dear friends its not over until you find yourself in a "strange land' with only angels walking about so till that time one must try never to give up

for those who have jobs and are in a potion to help , please help those you can , each one teach one and before we know it brick by brick we would have built a formidable wall against unemployment.

Again thanks to the op , i always love an opportunity to share my experiences , maybe somebody out there will learn from it.
Hmmmm.
I feel your pain bro.
I pray God will surely grant all your desires.

Just be focus bro,

Everything will be OK.
