Ttalk: You are the one misleading people with misinformation. I've seen this severally and people like me can never be deceived. Tax revenue is different from total revenue ![]() The image below is what most you refer to all the time. The statistics there is comparing taxes derived from oil and taxes derived from non oil sectors of the economy. Emphasis on taxes!
|
This is disturbing. Very disturbing |
OgaSeun:Wrong! What's important and of economic value is the oil producing states, because oil remains the main source of federal government revenue and South east has 3 oil producing states....Imo, Abia and Anambra Oyo is not an oil producing state. What's important and of economic value to the Federal government are the oil producing states. They provide about 85% of federal government revenue. The VAT contribution you guys keep shouting up and down only contributes less than 13% of total federal government revenue. Nigeria will collapse if it depends on VAT revenue! Nigeria survives on oil revenue. If they say keep your VAT and the oil producing states keep their oil, your state will not survive for a week |
This is wickedness of the highest order |
math2001:Honestly, the kind of things you people post online make me wonder what’s being taught in schools in your region. Ibadan is a city in Oyo state. So how on earth will Ibadan’s population be bigger than that of four South-East states put together when the official census says the population of the entire Oyo State is 5.5 million? The population of Anambra state alone is 4.1 million and the South-East has five states.! |
TheBizGenius:Having a degree in mechanical engineering doesn’t automatically make one an authority on civil works or project management they’re completely different fields. Makinde was speaking from the standpoint of governance and transparency. Yes, terrain differences affect cost, but that’s exactly why public officials must disclose the breakdown instead of hiding behind technicalities. Umahi might be experienced, but his refusal to provide detailed figures fuels suspicion, not professionalism. Transparency in public projects isn’t optional. You can’t justify secrecy just because the engineering is complex. |
Mercy1978:These boys from the north have always been a menace in Abuja. |
This nonsense is happening because a public servant who is fed with public funds feels he doesn't owe the Nigerian people any explanation. So arrogant and so full of himself. Tinubu just had to surround himself with the worst of every region As someone from south east i feel so ashamed of Umahi |
adeiza4u:You’ve spoken nothing but the truth. It’s refreshing to hear this from someone who’s actually inside the system. NOUN has really proven that quality education doesn’t have to follow the old, rigid walled university format. The structure you described where teaching, question-setting and grading are separated shows how transparent and credible the process is. NOUN is a clear example of how technology can be applied to eliminate exam malpractice, student victimization and sex-for-marks that have plagued conventional universities in the country. I enrolled for a program in NOUN when I had some free time and wanted to use it for something productive. Honestly, I thought it was going to be a walk in the park, but I was shocked at how mentally challenging it became trying to ace my courses. When it dawned on me that I had bitten more than I could chew, I had to get serious and dedicate all my time to studying and that’s when I truly started appreciating the depth and standard of the system. Many people underestimate NOUN until they see how intense the coursework, materials and assessments truly are. These days you'll even find teenagers choosing NOUN for their first degree. |
UkoAnnang:With this mentality, I doubt you'll ever become an employer. Never make the mistake of engaging a NOUN graduate of any discipline in any academic competence evaluation. If you see their course materials, you go fold and there’s no room for cheating in NOUN. |
Gbadugbakun:The kind things you guys say on this forum deserve their own reality show ![]() |
yarimo:[But Tinubu was Governor of the smallest state in Nigeria. No wonder Nigeria is too big for Tinubu to govern |
Putinofrussia:Lagos state has never produced even 1 liter of oil. Where did you get that from? The only oil producing state in the south west is Ondo state while South east has 3 oil producing states. |
hafeeanubasy:Get your facts right. It was not Ojukwu that declared war rather it was Yakubu Gowon who declared war against the Eastern region. The first shot was fired in Gakem, Bekwarra LGA in present day Cross River state by troops loyal to Gowon. |
Smartguyboy:That's a big mistake they made cos everyone in eastern region is regarded as Igbo by Northerners and westerners |
Smartguyboy:They are Igbo people too na. |
Coldspice:Also tag me when you open the thread. I'll be happy to dismantle every lie you plan to put there. Do you even know that the French as super power then offered Ojukwu weapons and support in exchange for oil during the Biafran war? Ojukwu only rejected this offer simply because he felt the minorities will feel betrayed. |
The lawmaker must be an illiterate for him to say that. Ibadan is 3,080 km² Enugu State alone is 7,161 km² So how is Ibadan bigger than the entire southeast? I don't know why some southwesterners are fixated on landmass that adds no economic value to the country. If we are to go by landmass Niger State alone is bigger than the entire South-West. What's important and of economic value is the oil producing states, because oil is the main source of government revenue. South east has 3 oil producing states Imo, Abia and Anambra while South west has only one which is ondo state |
Someone is busy hiding the comments here because they are been exposed. ![]() |
There's alot Nigerians don't know about their history |
helinues:Try and apply common sense. In countries where Igbos make up the largest number of Nigerian migrants, it’s only natural that the number of Igbos involved in any skirmish in that country will be higher. How often do you hear of Igbo names linked to crimes in countries like Saudi Arabia? Where Igbos are not many? If you have 100 Igbos, 5 Yorubas, and 3 Northerners in a particular country. Statistically, the likelihood of hearing Igbo names in any negative report will be higher. But instead of understanding this basic fact, you people will twist it to label all Igbos as troublesome including your government officials who should know better. Take Ghana, for example that you keep mentioning, one Igbo man’s action which you people used to incite Ghanaians against thousands of peaceful Igbos who have been living there for centuries. That’s mischievous and evil |
helinues:We are not deceived anymore by things like that. Most of the so called complain about the Igbos you see online are instigated by some Yoruba people. A story once trended on Twitter where some south Africans shared messages Yoruba people sent to their dms inciting them against Igbos in south Africa. So i won't be surprised if this so called Kenyan lady is another such mischievous attempt by a disgruntled Yoruba person
|
surgical:Exactly, it's the fear of death that has kept us from demanding for good living conditions while the political class continue to feed fat on our common wealth. |
helinues:This is the problem with you people, always pushing the mischievous narrative that the Igbos are bad people. But throughout history, the Igbos remain the only major ethnic group in Nigeria that did not build empires or kingdoms by forcefully expanding into minority lands and conquering them. This is evident today in the many ethnic minorities that surround the Igbo. It simply shows that the Igbos are not domineering by nature or troublesome. Every reasonable person knows that crime is part of society and every tribe have criminals, so trying to paint all the Igbos as criminals is senseless. |
Willy2025:There's no lesson that will be learnt. The worst they can do is kill innocent Nigerians as usual. Death is the end for everyone and dying for a good course is honorable. |
Exactly, Nigeria keeps rehabilitating terrorists and setting them free in the North. Some of them are even rewarded with enlistment in the military but keep Nnamdi Kanu in unlawful detention. This double standard is the reason the country is seen as a joke.
|
helinues:You are very correct. We won't stop anytime soon until people start obeying the law. We are in a democracy and the provisions of the constitution are sacred. Nobody is above the law not even the federal government |
budaatum:Absolutely true. 💯 That’s the real message, unity is our greatest weapon. When we come together with one voice and shared purpose, no corrupt system can stand against us. our strength multiplies when we’re bound together. I always find it deeply ironic that the same people who derive their authority from the constitution are often the first to undermine it whenever its provisions fail to serve their biases. |
GBAFOLO:I’ve already addressed this same case you people keep citing. It has nothing to do with the Trade Fair Complex issue. That Supreme Court case dealt with federal lands that had already been sold to private individuals.....meaning the Federal Government was no longer the owner of the lands. Because of that, the supreme Court struck out the case, because the Supreme Court cannot seat on matters between a state government and private citizens as a court of first instance. The Trade Fair Complex, on the other hand, is still federally owned with no transfer of ownership to private individuals. That makes the two cases entirely different. Trying to present the two cases as the same is mischievous.

Chucks13:The apology being sought here is not about individuals taking responsibility, it’s not about anyone who took part in the war or not. What the Delta monarch is asking for is a national apology from Nigeria as a state for the Asaba massacre. Currently, only President Tinubu as head of state has the authority to issue that apology on behalf of the nation. Obasanjo can not, same with GEJ and not even Yakubu Gowon who was head of state during the war |
Chucks13:Let’s try to stay objective when talking about issues this sensitive. Innocent people were brutally killed for doing nothing wrong. They deserve an apology. This isn’t about Tinubu, it’s about doing what’s right. The Asaba people have consistently asked for this apology and the monarch said he has raised the matter directly with Tinubu. So don't just conclude that they will not get the apology |
IGBOPROMISE1:The advantages of acknowledging the truth even symbolically far more outweighs whatever fear of the consequences that may follow the deserved apology The memory of that tragic event will not fade anytime soon because it will be passed down from generation to generation. The victims will neither forget nor forgive the Nigerian state. True reconciliation is the only honorable path forward for any leader. |
