Politics / Fashola Condemns Soldier’s Siege On Tinubu’s Residence by Shoutozone: 2:17pm On Feb 11, 2015
Fashola Condemns Soldier’s Siege on Tinubu’s Residence.

“In the last three days, they deployed soldiers to the home of Asiwaju. Every night now, they send a truck load of soldiers to his home. But I have news for them, we will not be intimidated by their actions. Our votes will speak for us. Let me remind them that if Yar’Adua was alive, the owner of this mandate, he will be preparing to leave the office now. When President Goodluck Jonathan was seeking for our votes in 2011, he didn’t deploy soldiers to our homes rather he was begging us. He said that he had no shoes. And after he assumed office, he has since inflicted pains on us. After giving him 1.2 million votes, we have no minister and that shows that he doesn’t care about Lagos. But we need to let him know that Lagos is unique. The Federal Government said that they have constructed 25,000 kilometres of road network since the beginning of this administration. And if one divides the number by the states and the FCT, it means that FG would have succeeded in constructing 690 kilometres in every state. From Lagos to London, it is 5,025 kilometres. But it is alarming that Nigerians cannot see the roads. For instance the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is 104 kilometres, and it is not good. This administration has never budgeted 40 per cent of its budget for capital project,” – Governor Babatunde Fashola.

Politics / The Real Thief Called Sambo DASUKI by Shoutozone: 2:06pm On Feb 11, 2015
The real reason why Sambo Dasuki is against Buhari is not because of his participation in a coup that toppled Buhari but because of the following reason.

There is a massive billion dollars corruption on defense contracts perpetuated by Sambo Dasuki under the guise of purchasing military equipment for the armed forces.

1. He purchased a refurbished MI Helicopters as new for the Nigerian Airforce from Belarus at the cost of $84 million per one which the market value is $15 million two have already crashed and killed the pilots.

2. He purchased a substandard UAV (Drones) from China at an exhorbitant price of $260 million as against a brand new UAV which was offered to Nigeria by Elbit Systems of Israel who are the pioneers and leading UAV Manufacturers in the world at a lower cost of $16.5 million per one and the Chinese UAV crashed on its maiden flight at Mafa village in Borno State.

3. He purchased and install a Command and Control Centre in his office from an Israeli company called NICE at an exhorbitant price of $80 million which the market value is put at $15 million. His office is not an Operational Agency by law as it serves only as an advisory role to the Presidency on security and intelligence matters so he doesn’t need a Command and Control Centre and since its installation it has never worked.

4. He has done a deal with the Tchadian and Nigerien Governments to pay them cash to fight the Boko Haram on behalf of Nigeria which he collected huge amount of money and pay them peanuts.

5. The South African money for arms scandal

These are the main reasons why Sambo Dasuki is scared stiff of Buhari’s Presidency and was also forced to play the psychopantic role he is playing now to save himself from sack by the GEJ government because of the serious embarrassment they faced within the international community because of the Defense contract scandal which made GEJ to start thinking of dropping him and use him as a scapegoat in their camatose fight against corruption to win sympathy from Nigerians and International Community.
Politics / Jega’s Sack Is Unconstitutional; Nigerians Should Disregard ~ Minority Leader by Shoutozone: 2:01pm On Feb 11, 2015
The noise about the purported sack of INEC Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega has once again been laid to rest by the leader of Minority at the lower house, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. The lawmaker in the statement released to our correspondent urged Nigerians to live beyond the Presidency and PDP sponsored rumor of Jega’s sack.

It is no more news as trending issue on social media widely reported that the INEC Chairman may likely face a shock sack following his resistance to making rigging difficult for the ruling party and for flouting the interest of the Presidency in postponing the elections.

Gbajabiamila, who spoke on point of law, condemned the PDP for sponsoring an unsellable idea that is meant for political crumbs. He however, argued on point of law as a member of the house and legal practitioner that, Jega is never a civil servant that is prone to sack by the Presidency.

“There is a difference between a civil servant and a public servant or officer. Jega falls under the latter. INEC and its chairman are a creation of the constitution. Their operations, rules and regulations are as provided under sections 156 and 160 of the Nigerian constitution which expressly states that only INEC has the powers to regulate its own procedures and cannot be subject to approval of the President or any other authority thereby establishing its independence”.

The proposed ‘terminal leave’ if in any way near truth is a dash to INEC’s independence. The body is independent of political frills as suffered by other institution under President Jonathan’s watch.

“The public in my opinion should disregard the promoted sack. That is outright a height of abuse of constitutional authority”.

He further explained that the Constitution is very clear and succinct about the removal of INEC Chairman which is vested in section 157 of 1999 constitution as amended by the senate and a two-third majority is required to prosecute the removal.

“The question of who is a civil servant is answered in section 171 of the constitution and the chairman inec is not included”

Finally, the Lagos State representative, representing Surulere federal constituency further said “it will be a violation of section 1 of the Code of Conduct as embedded in Part 1 of the fifth schedule to the constitution to appoint Prof Mimiko, brother to a PDP Governor, he concluded.

Politics / Fayemi: An Altar Boy On Podium For Change At 50 by Shoutozone: 5:21pm On Feb 10, 2015
Like a team of masquerades staging a public show in the Cathedral , he stormed the Nigeria’s political landscape drawing both shock and awe. Shock, because his forte was the academics. And like a good Catholic, he was the Knight of the Order Of the Barricades in the pro-democracy tribe; the creed that cobbled and coupled him for the uncertainties of the Third World political vicissitudes but over which he wreaked unbelievable havocs. Awe, because of his audacious plunge into the Nigeria’s murky political waters infested by sharks in human clothing.

In both senses, only the bold and the courageous could emerge from the clouds to challenge a status quo helplessly held as a national fate, but whose intervention later became a national consciousness and whose morals today resonate across the the world in a new push for national salvation.

That is Dr John Folorunso Kayode Fayemi, a former Altar Boy in the Catholic faith born on February 9, 1965 in the pot town of Isan-Ekiti in the semi-arid zone of Ekiti State but who is rich in fertile mind and endowed with the everlasting freshness of the month of May.

Like Chaucer, Geofrey Chaucer, Fayemi likes political pilgrimages that go with astounding and palpable anxieties laced with amusing stunts. Not for him an enterprise without its accompanying fables induced by the state. It is not his fault. It is not his wish, but that is the reality imposed on him by the social conditions of his society. It is only the determined that would strive to alter such conditions that impose constrictions on the path of national survival.

But it seems Fayemi was conscious of what fate bestowed on him as a potential national leader as he grew up in his Catholic Christian background. Besides holding the candles and swinging burning incense at Mass, the other thing young Kayode knew was reading, reading and reading. That he did with harvests of laurels in his early adulthood, during which Fayemi had accomplished feats that are rare among his peers.

After his university education that took him to the University of Lagos, University of Ife and the King’s College, University of London; and many national and international engagements to boot, Fayemi established the Centre for Democracy and Development after he had worked as a Lecturer, Journalist, Researcher and Strategy Development Adviser in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He was Strategy Development Adviser in Nigeria and the United African Research and Information Bureau in London, UK. He was a reporter with The Guardian and City Tempo newspapers, editor of the political monthly, ‘Nigeria Now’; and management consultant at Development and Management Consultants.

As a prominent leader of the Nigerian opposition in exile, he was actively involved in the establishment of Radio Freedom, Radio Democracy International and Radio Kudirat, and he played a central role in the opposition’s diplomatic engagements in exile during the infamous military rule in Nigeria.

Among his numerous academic and public policy engagements at home and abroad, Fayemi lectured in Africa, Europe, America and Asia. He also served as an adviser on transitional justice, regional integration, constitutionalism, security sector reform and civil-military relations issues to various governments, inter-governmental institutions and development agencies. He was the main technical adviser to Nigeria’s Human Right Violations Investigation Commission (Oputa Panel), which investigated past abuses and served on the Presidential Implementation Committees on Security Sector Reform, NEPAD and the Millennium Development Goals. He was technical expert to ECOWAS on small arms and light weapons and United Nations Economic Commission of Africa on governance issues. He is also a member, Africa Policy Advisory Panel of the British Government.

He also served as a consultant to the OECD on Security Sector Reform and chaired the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative’s Committee of Experts on developing guiding principles and mechanisms of constitution making in Commonwealth Africa.

Fayemi is a fellow of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan; Adjunct Professor of Security Studies at the African Centre for Strategic Studies, National Defence University, Fort McNair, Washington DC, USA. He was also a visiting Professor in the African Studies Programme at Northwestern University, Evanston, USA in 2004. He serves on numerous Boards including the Governing Board of the Open Society Justice Institute, Baobab for Women’s Human Rights, African Security Sector Network and on the Advisory Board of the Global Facilitation Network on Security Sector Reform and on the Management Culture Board of the ECOWAS Secretariat.

Besides having authored seven books, Fayemi has also written extensively on governance and democratization, civil-military relations security sector issues in Africa. Armed with this background, Fayemi moved out of the shadows in pro-democracy struggles to the political theatre to test the strength he had garnered during the political struggle. He succeeded but not without the pains of three years struggle in the courts to reclaim the electoral victory freely given to him by Ekiti people. He was the first Nigerian in history to be in court for three and half years using forensic technology to retrieve his electoral victory.

In power, he exuded competence and forthrightness of a patriot in mission to redirect the state to the path of growth. He did it with grace to the applause of Ekiti people and other Nigerians. Under him, the Human Development Report (2012) declared Ekiti State as the most conducive environment to live, for long and healthy living with a life expectancy average of 55 years more than the National Life expectancy average of 50 years. Ekiti had the lowest infant and maternal mortality rate and the lowest HIV/AIDS infection rate in the country. The state had the highest pupils’ enrolment relative to Nigeria’s population and it had the least out-of-school children (less than 2%) in Nigeria.

For his development and leadership style, Fayemi won ‘Governor of the Year 2012 Award’ by theLeadership Newspapers on September 18, 2012 in Abuja where elder statesman, Alhaji Maitama Sule, described Fayemi in these words: “At a time like this, we need leaders not looters, leaders not rulers… Leaders who are not corrupt; leaders who will not steal; leaders who will look in the eyes of the common man with compassion and not eye of the privileged few… Let other leaders emulate this governor.”

All these were confirmed in September 2013 when the United Nations invited Fayemi to its session on the basis that Ekiti State had met many of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

For this, Ekiti people chose to vote for him again in the June 21, 2014 governorship election. But like in the 2007 election, the establishment people again deployed state powers to deny him the victory. The perpetrators of that fraud are already talking to the world on what they knew about that national sabotage.

But Fayemi is a “brakeless” vehicle when the journey to national development is on the menu. After supervising what is regarded as the best and most transparent presidential convention in Africa, he now leads the research and policy laboratory of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in what looks like a done deal among Nigerians to put the nation in the safe hands of APC leaders.

Significantly, the months of February, March, April, May and June are very special in the lives of the Fayemis. While Dr Fayemi came to the world in February, other members of the family arrived the world between March and June. His mother succumbed to the tricks of biology in April. His father, Pa Francis Fayemi, died in March and interred in April. Kayode Fayemi himself began his journey to the Ekiti governorship on April 14, 2007 when he contested Ekiti State governorship poll and won but he was rigged out. Through April and May, 2009, the rerun poll was held but he was still denied victory.

His wife, Olabisi Fayemi, who became the Erelu of Isan Kingdom on March 15, 2011, was born in June. He contested second term election on June 21, 2014 and won but poll thieves now in the nation’s court as well as the court of public opinion aborted that victory. Fayemi’s party (APC) was set for an historic and historical victory on February 14, but the Aso Rock matador abruptly applied the brake on Nigerians’ journey to freedom by postponing the poll to the month most favourable to the aura that pervades the Fayemi family.

Fayemi is 50, the year associated with golden round and sceptre of authority in a man’s engagements in this world. With Nigerians putting their hope in the scheme Fayemi has an abiding faith, the March 28, 2015 Salvation Day in Nigeria will be the crowning of his patriotic efforts to build a virile nation.

Ilufemiloye ONE, happy birthday!

PDP buying PVCs for 10,000 naira each - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm that some
people suspected to be agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
have resorted to underhand tactics, including the purchase of PVCs and
the intimidation of some voters to seize their PVCs, in the wake of
the recent postponement of the general elections.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday by its National Publicity
Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party also said a company, Agro-Allied
Communities Service Nigeria Limited, has been formed ostensibly to provide 50,000 Naira loan each to 'empower' women.

It said, however, that anyone seeking to get the loan must provide her PVC as 'collateral', which is basically the essence of the establishment of the company that is supposedly a private concern but in reality a PDP front to mop up PVCs, especially in opposition strongholds.

APC said it is now getting clearer by the day what the PDP-led Federal government sought to gain by forcing the postponement of the elections for six weeks - which is to perfect their rigging plans.

The party warned those behind the abhorrent acts to desist from such tactics, which reflect the desperation by some people to hold on to power at all cost, even when it is clear that Nigerians have widely rejected them due to non-performance, massive corruption and profligacy under their watch.

It also appealed to its members and supporters in particular, and
Nigerians in general, not to sell their PVCs under any guise, saying
that is the only power they have to effect a meaningful change that
can ensure the deliverance of democratic dividends to them.

''Our members have alerted us to the fact that PDP agents have been
operating in all villages between Kobape and Orile-Imo along the
Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State, giving 10,000 Naira to each
poor villager and collecting their PVCs. The PDP agents are also
promising each villager a monthly stipend of 10,000 Naira if and when
their party assumes office in the state.

''Indications are that this objectionable PVC mop-up is being
replicated in all opposition strongholds by the frenzied PDP, hence we
at the APC have decided to alert the nation to the reprehensible
act,'' APC said.

The party also said that some Immigration personnel, acting under the
guise of arresting illegal aliens with voter cards, are dispossessing
a lot of unsuspecting locals in the northern part of the country of
their PVCs. These unsuspecting people are arrested and their cards
seized, all in an attempt to disenfranchise them.

''This act of desperation is totally unacceptable and must stop
forthwith. Every voter should be allowed to exercise his or her
franchise in accordance with his/her conscience, without intimidation
or inducement,'' it said.''We hope this is not part of the reasons
that the PDP relentlessly campaigned for a postponement of the
elections, so it can engage in PVC purchase and the disenfranchisement
of innocent Nigerians through harassment and intimidation.''

Politics / Statement By Bola Tinubu On The Postponement Of The February 14th Election by Shoutozone: 2:13pm On Feb 10, 2015
What happened on Saturday was actually not a postponement due to security or logistical reasons. What happened was the byproduct of overt political interference undermining the independence of the election management body, INEC. The elections were postponed not because they could safely be held. They were postponed because one man, President Jonathan, feared that an election held on February 14 would for him become an election lost. While the mouth was Jega, the words were Jonathan. He chose to place our democracy at risk than do what democracy demands by facing and risking the verdict of the people. That he would use our security agencies to provide his excuse only adds insult to injury.

This act was one desperation of a man in fear of defeat. It was not done for the national good. It was the wrong thing done for the wrong reason by the wrong man.

The rationale stated by the heavily intimidated INEC chairman does not withstand close scrutiny nor the rigors of logical thought. It is nothing but a lie draped in a falsehood born by deceit.

Jega said he hinged his decision on a purported letter stating that due to an impending offensive the security agencies will not have the personnel to spare to adequately guard the polling areas in the northeastern states.

For the Service Chiefs to be inserted in the electoral process in this manner and at the eleventh hour reveals nothing but a cynical plot to thwart elections. President Jonathan has revealed that he only wants elections where the guaranty is that he shall win. This is not the nature of democratic elections. Jonathan's government has purposefully undermined the electoral process because he is not interested in a free and fair honest where the outcome reflects the sovereign will of the people. He wants an elaborate coronation dressed in the garb of an election. The Nigerian people are too smart for this rude trick.

This postponement is a smokescreen because what the letter says is that they are advising a postponement of six weeks in the first instance subject to the amelioration of the security situation in the North East. This is coming from a Chief of Defence staff that vowed to crush the insurgents within four months early last year. A year later, nothing has changed. He is now asking Nigerians to believe this government can do in six weeks what it could not do in six years.

I ask Nigerians to question why these Service Chiefs decided to launch a major operation a week before the elections? What is new about the security situation in the last two weeks that has not been there these past several years? The date and importance of the election was well publicized. Why did they wait till now? They waited because they were given marching orders by the president to delay the elections.

They have gone on an offensive already. However, the true offensive is not against Boko Haram. It is against the Nigerian people and our democracy.

If elections could hold in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, why not in Nigeria where only 14 out of 774 council areas are under siege?

This postponement may be the prelude to even rasher more authoritarian action by this desperate, inept government.

This postponement has deeply wounded Nigerian democracy. While my party hoped to go into the election and win it that we may offer a new and honest deal to the people. This government continues to feed the people a raw deal.

The ambition of one man should not be allowed to affect the destiny of 170 million Nigerians.Nigerians have signaled their desire for change and there is nothing this government can do to erase it.

Thus, we do not despair. I ask our supporters and Nigerians to remain calm and do everything to keep the peace. I ask you to renew your determination in the face of this insult to our democracy and common sense. It is inevitable that change shall come and we shall bring it fairly, democratically and peacefully.

They will attempt more tricks before the six weeks is over. Each time, they will be defeated by the power of our commitment to a new day in a new democratic Nigeria.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Politics / Combat Ready Soldiers Mass At Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s House On Bourdillon Road by Shoutozone: 2:02pm On Feb 10, 2015
For three straight days, the private residence of the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu has been under surveillance by battle ready and helmet wearing soldiers. Numbering close to thirty and riding in three patrol vans and an army trucks stationed close to the entrance of the gate to Tinubu’s house along Bourdillon road in Ikoyi they have become a permanent feature. Their obvious target, Tinubu himself and perhaps the hordes of politicians and visitors that visit his bourdillon residence. The soldiers were first noticed on Sunday a few minutes to 11pm in an army truck. They stationed about 500 meters away from Tinubu’s gate. Later they moved close to his gate as if making efforts to enter. The stern looking soldiers were around for hours on Sunday and returned on Monday to continue their surveillance. Monday night about 10.45pm, they returned to the residence in two army vans and were there throughout the night. Some of the soldiers discharged from the van and walked back and forth in front of the house and around the house in what is clearly some casing effort. This morning, Tuesday, two vans from the army were stationed on both sides of the house along Bourdillon road their missions shrouded in secrecy. In a swift reaction, Tinubu said he will not be intimidated by this show of strength, intimidation and possible harassment. “I remain resolute in my advocacy and support for the rule of law. Jonathan’s government has through the service chiefs staged a coup against Nigerians and the Constitution and now wants to silence his critics. I will not be muzzled through the barrel of the gun. The guns and bullets they should use to defeat Boko Haram are now being turned against the opposition and innocent Nigerians”. Tinubu remains emphatically resolute and committed to the path of change in Nigeria and the liberating manifesto of the All Progressives Party,APC. Tinubu, is an unrelenting critic of the maladministration of the Jonathan-led PDP government. Tinubu is credited to have played the most pivotal role in the re-building of the Nigerian opposition and the formation of the APC, Nigeria’s most formidable opposition party since independence. The exact mission of the soldiers is not known but it fits clearly into a new pattern of intimidation of leaders of the APC and the opposition. The recent massing of soldiers for 3 days now at Tinubu’s gate might be part of a broader plan by the Jonathan Presidency to intimidate Tinubu and his political associates and scare him from making provocative statements or building a broad coalition against the present government as he did during the NADECO days. As the scaremongering by the army continues, Nigerians must come to the realization that the military has abandoned its statutory role and have now being dragged into partisan politics. Nigerians and the South West should hold the Jonathan led Military responsible if any harm or danger comes to Tinubu and his family. The case of the “Unknown Soldier” is too recent in our memory.

Politics / Statement By The All Progressives Congress (apc) Monday, February 9, 2015 by Shoutozone: 11:35am On Feb 10, 2015
Thank you for being with us this afternoon. This is yet another critical moment in our history. We have gone through difficult moments like this in the past. Nigeria survived and came out stronger. We are confident that we shall survive this too; because no one, no matter how powerful, can subvert the collective will of the people.

· In our preliminary reaction to the postponement of the 2015 General Elections, we noted that the decision taken by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has thrown up so many questions, and that these questions will be reviewed by our party organs for a comprehensive response from the APC. Whilst consultation with the party organs is on-going, this briefing is to provide us opportunity to raise some pertinent questions and put some issues in their proper perspective.

· You will recall that on the 22nd of January 2015, Col. Sambo Dasuki(rtd) , the National Security Adviser (NSA) at Chatham House declared that INEC was not ready for the elections and he has therefore advised the electoral body to postpone the election. The reason he gave for his unsolicited advice was that substantial number of registered voters had not collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC). He did not say anything about security concern even though Boko Haram was an issue then as it is an issue now. So, at what point did concern over elections shift from PVC to security concern?

· When the United States Secretary of State, John Kerry visited on January 25th, he wanted a categorical commitment from President Jonathan that the elections would hold as scheduled. The President assured the American envoy that the elections would hold. Was it that his Security chiefs had not briefed him on the security situation in the country and how this would affect the election time table at the time he was making this promise?

· On the 2nd of February, at the National Peace Committee meeting in Abuja with the representatives of different political parties, the service chiefs gave assurances of their readiness for the elections. At the occasion, the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh gave assurances of the Armed Forces’s preparedness for the elections. According to him “even though we are busy in the North East, we also have capabilities across the nation.” Badeh also admitted that the role of the military is merely to support the police in providing security during elections. At the same event, Chief of Army Staff, General Kenneth Minimah said, “we are aware of the need for security, before, during and after the elections. We will deploy across the States of the Federation in areas we discover that have capacity for violence. We are prepared to ensure we have peaceful elections.”

· Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Adesola Amosun said “we have commenced the air lift of the materials needed for the elections, starting from Abuja. We will continue with the elections.”

· The sum total of all these is that only 12 days before the elections and despite the state of insecurity in the North East, the entire military high command assured the nation of their readiness to provide security for the elections. However, only 3 days later on Friday February 6th, these same Service Chiefs wrote to INEC, in a letter, which by all practical purposes could be described as blackmail, saying that they would no longer be able to provide security for the elections? What happened in those 72 hours that brought about this complete volte face?

· It is also important to note that at the National Council of States meeting on Thursday February 5th, INEC reaffirmed its readiness and commitment to hold the elections as scheduled. Even though the Service Chiefs briefed the Council that they had security concerns, the consensus of opinion at this august body of eminent citizens was that elections should go ahead nationwide except the 14 LGAS i

What is talking... Will you shout your mouth or i shout it for you.. Uptil now your eye is still close. Better open and read what your master Buhari has for you
Vote for Buhari. Let him become President and maybe people like you could still have the opportunity to be granted scholarship for free education... "will you shout your mouth or i shout it for you" Na wah o. It's grave disrespect for a person like you to call someone like Buhari an illiterate... You are the greater illiterate, and if Buhari shouldn't be the President cause of his illiteracy, then you yourself should never become a leader.
