The Labour Party in Nasarawa State has begun a door-to-door campaign across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state for its presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Speaking with newsmen in Lafia on Monday, State Chairman of LP, Alexander Emmanuel, said the party decided to start the campaign because it has a target of getting a minimum of two million votes for Obi and Datti during the 2023 presidential election.
He commended stakeholders of the party both at the national and state levels for the successful conduct of the presidential campaign inauguration which held in Lafia, the state capital, last Saturday.
He also expressed gratitude to supporters of the party who came from all parts of Nigeria to show their love and support for the party, assuring them that the LP will work for the good of the country if it emerged victorious in the coming elections.
Emmanuel said, “The Labour Party in Nasarawa State today began a door-to-door campaign for our presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti.
“We will be visiting towns and villages across the 13 LGAs of the state because we are targeting a minimum of two million votes for them in 2023.
“Our presidential campaign flag off was very successful, so we felt there was no need for us to keep waiting because we are aware that we have a lot of work to do.
“I want to commend all our party stakeholders across the country for their efforts thus far. I also want to thank our supporters for the love they showed to Obi and Datti last Saturday. They stood under the scorching sun just to identify with the Labour party. We promise not to disappoint them if we emerge victorious in 2023.”
It's interesting how this is not on the frontpage. it has even garnered 5 pages organically. Imagine how many views it would've gotten if it were on the homepage.
Social rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has vowed that she will hold the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, accountable to Nigerians if elected President in 2023.
Yesufu made this vow while speaking at the presidential campaign flag-off of Obi in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital on Saturday.
She said, “…2023 election is an election for survival…we are not only voting for ourselves, we are also voting for our children and our grandchildren, and the generation yet to come, we want Mr Peter Obi to be in office, I will hold him accountable, we’ll ensure he works for the people…”
Also present with Obi on the campaign ground are his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, Yesufu, and the LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, among other party chieftains.
Speaking earlier, Obi decried Nigeria not qualifying for World Cup, saying his administration, if elected, would invest money in sports.
He said, “A country of 200 million people, we did not qualify for World Cup? …We will put money in sports, the youths will have goals, we will go to World Cup one way. How can they play World Cup without Nigeria?” Obi queried.
“We will give you back your job, we will give you back your country. You will be proud of Nigeria,” he also said earlier.

pfadom: You need help... If that was a coherent answer to the question.
Where are his factories and what does he manufacture? Gullibility kills...
He does not manufacture, he has shares in some manufacturing facilities, but he doesn't manufacture. Rather he is a distributor and he has said that only 25% of the items he distributes are imported, the rest are manufactured locally. So that means that his distribution company promotes local manufacturing more than Importation.
It was a very apt response as it addresses the net importer accusation from Rufai Oseni.
ShowYourCertificate: I have now seen two frontpage threads that mischaracterised Peter Obi's response to Rufai Oseni's question on Arise TV. It is so sad that in a quest to discredit Peter Obi, people resort to half truths and video editing. That's shows the desperation some people are
You might ask, this video is in the open public, why resort to editing it? Who will be deceived by it? But the truth is that some people might be decieved because they don't have the time to see the whole video and thus will be okay believing a mischievously edited video because it is shorter than the original video.
This thread is meant to address the misinformation from several threads on nairaland (two of those threads actually made frontpage!) that claimed Peter Obi responded to Rufai's question on Production and Importation by talking about prisons. What those mischievous elements failed to say was that Rufai asked two questions, one was on security and the other on production. Peter chose to respond to the first question first. Here is the section of the video which revealed Rufai's entire question and Peter Obi's response to the security question:
Peter Obi also answered the production question very well by stating he is a distributor with only 25% of his goods imported while the rest are manufactured locally. Here is the video:
asanausana91: he didn't answer the question where he was accused of being the highest importer. He is an importer but he is promising productions, how possible?
It explains everything there. A clip of the video where Peter Obi addressed the net importer accusation is also there. He said only 25% of his products are imported, the rest are manufactured locally.
ShaqFu: Can you state the response he gave to that econmic question Rufai asked him? Since you said he answered it, you should be able to state it here crystal and clear.
It explains everything there. A clip of the video where Peter Obi addressed the net importer accusation is also there. He said only 25% of his products are imported, the rest are manufactured locally.
TechW: Will that APC moderator take this to the frontpage
I know some of the moderators have biases but I want to believe the entire admin, Seun inclusive, is not and would look into this thread and do the needful.

The Presidential Campaign Council of the Labour Party will officially begin its campaigns on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, North Central of Nigeria.
The PUNCH reported that the PCC of the LP had shifted the initial flag-off from October 20 due to the rampaging flood that affected 33 out of the 36 states of the federation.
A terse statement issued on Monday night by the Chief Spokesperson of the LP PCC, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, confirmed the new date to journalists.
He said, “Our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, had to visit affected states to empathise with affected states and communities across the country.
“After his visitations, the campaign council of our great party has deemed it necessary to earnestly start the campaign from the North Central geo-political zone of Nigeria.
“We call on our support groups and teeming supporters to make themselves available for a worthwhile campaign for the 2023 general elections.”
In my previous post I commended the admin for increasing the pro-Atiku Threads on the Frontpage to compensate for the seeming bias against pro-Atiku Threads. But it seems they have reverted to the statusquo by promoting more Tinubu threads and less Atiku threads.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Bode George has asked political parties to halt campaigns following the floods affecting several parts of Nigeria.
He said this on Sunday after calls from Nigerians, notably the Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, that parties should suspend campaigns following the heavy floods that have killed over 600 people and displaced millions across the country.
“Once you have a major concern – an environmental disaster of this level – it calls to reason that people should be empathic, people should show concern for the lives and properties of people there,” the former National Deputy Chairman of the main opposition PDP said in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.
“I agree that suspending a campaign for one or two days and seeing how much you can contribute physically, financially, and morally to further strengthen the belief of the people that we have good managers who will run this country for them. It makes a lot of sense.”
Buttressing his point, Chief Bode said campaigning while the floods and their impacts are still being felt by many Nigerians does not make sense.
He, therefore, called on the PDP to take the lead and work with stakeholders to combat the issue.
“I would advise them to do the same because if we are going now and trying to woo the hearts and minds of the people, anything that would disrupt their perfect state of mind should also be our major concern,” he maintained.
“It (suspending campaigns) makes a lot of sense both politically and also spiritually. You know you cannot close your eyes and pretend that you didn’t know what is happening and its terrible effects on the lives of our people. I will plead with our party – the managers – to please suspend it and to also key in morally – the contribution to NEMA and whatever advice they would give to those in government and do something – so that it would be impactful on their mindset that this party has so much sympathy and concern; not only to take their votes.”
On a daily basis, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has continued to worm his way into the hearts of many Nigerians. Last Wednesday, he said he had suspended his campaign tours to enable him help victims of floods across the states of the federation. Obi said the welfare of the flood victims and his concern for them are more compelling.
Addressing journalists after his visit to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State at his Abuja private residence where he had gone to discuss modalities on his planned visit to flood sites in Benue and other states, the former Anambra State governor said he expected other presidential candidates to suspend their campaigns to show concerns to the plight of victims of flooding. He added that some of the candidates who spent millions of naira on nomination forms, have the capacity to assist the flood victims.
Floods have hit parts of Nigeria in the last two months with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) saying that about 2.5 million persons were affected and over 603 persons killed by the flooding caused by torrential rainfall of late. Practically all the states affected by the floods have been calling on the federal government for help.
Houses and farmlands have been submerged in Taraba, Adamawa, Edo, Delta, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Benue, Ebonyi, Anambra, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Imo, Abia states, and the Federal Capital Territory.
While the people are suffering, there hasn’t been an appreciable assistance from the federal government. Even the presidential candidates of the political parties have not made any effort to give the people succour. It took Obi to initiate the move.
Little wonder the Benue State Governor, Ortom, said he would have worked for the victory of the LP presidential candidate if he were not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He encouraged Nigerians to go into the 2023 general election with the mindset of electing the best presidential candidate among the top contenders. According to him, Nigeria currently runs on oxygen and would need a hands-on and detribalised leader to restore hope, development and progress
lhordspy: How old are you, for a starter? I dont think you are upto 19years of age. No wonder you think everything 'Obi' starts and end with your candidate.
Sorry to say, go home and ask people far above your age. Play the gyration - 'Obi' to them. And tell them to educate you about its history. They will tell you it has been in existence even before you metarmorphous from sperm to zygote.
So based on your response, you will be 100% okay if the Obi gyration is chorused in APC rallies. Interesting. The optics (and phonics, if i might add) is really not looking good
funshint: Shebi Labour will pay their money....it's the coach I blame for this indiscipline. Nobody should later cry about unpaid allowance
There will be consequences. I won't be surprised if someone is sacked or a disciplinary meeting is called for this video. Which is actually sad. But I know Peter Obi will reinstall or pardon those affected once he gets into office.
Bros, I'm sorry my age is irrelevant in this discuss. Answer my question: will you be okay if "Obi Kererenke" is being chanted by people in APC rallies?
Labour party is successfully turning Nigeria politics into a joke, a comedy show just for cruise.
The way they glorify irrelevant things and always want to use it to trends says alot about the mentality of the candidate, the supporters and the people running the party.
That isnt even a song, but a gyration that has been in existence even before Labour party as a party was created. It is use to ginger moral or celebrate football victories on the street. It rang all through the entire Nigeria street even after Nigeria won gold in Atlanta 96.
I think Labour party and its supporters are not only desperate and delusional but also possess .
If it is just gyration, why don't you recommend APC use it in their rallies. Let me ask you a question, will you sleep well if people in APC rallies start chanting "Obi Kererenke"?
kestolove95: Pls igbos should not bring politics into football, that's the only thing that unite us
This has nothing to do with the Igbos. This is just stating the obvious. Those girls were chanting "Obi Kererenke". We could all hear it. Just the same way we heard people chanting the same chorus during Atiku's rally in Akwa Ibom. And the Flamingos are not made up of only Igbos, there is a very sizable amount of Yorubas and other tribes in that team.
The Labour Party on Friday claimed that Nigeria’s Under 17 team, popularly known as Flamingos are supporters of its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
Recall that the under-17 girls qualified for the semi-finals of this year’s U-17 women’s World Cup, after beating the USA on penalties in Friday’s quarter-finals.
In a viral video, the girls were heard chanting Obi while celebrating their victory against the USA.
The Labour Party took to its official Twitter handle to claim that the Flamingos are supporters of Peter Obi.
Sharing a video of the girls, LP wrote, “Nigeria under 17 girls are all OBIdients”.
“Watch them chant Peter Obi’s name after today’s victory against the USA in the women’s world cup quarter-finals. Peter Obi is coming"

Nigerian youths should reclaim their country, Onitiri says The former PDP chieftain also charged Nigerian youths to reclaim the country "from the 62 years of criminal misrule of the old politicians.
