Three Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, Hon. Amah Abraham Nnanna and Mr Turnah Alabh George, have petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC), requesting the immediate investigation and punishment of Justice A.L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court for alleged abuse of judicial process. The trios are plaintiffs in the Abuja Federal High Court Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025, judgment on which stopped the planned November 15 and 16, 2025 National Elective Convention of the PDP. The petition was titled; Petition against Honourable Justice A.L Akintola of the Hugh Court of Oyo State for His Lordship's Judicial Act of Recklessness, Impunity and Flagrant Violation of the Known and Very Well Established Due Process of Law." It reads; "This Petition is against Justice A.L. Akintola of the High Court of Oyo State which in our opinion amounts to an act of judicial indiscretion and abuse of Office. "The said Judge had gone ahead to issue an Ex-Parte Injunction mandating the Peoples Democratic Party to go ahead with its Convention earlier slated for 15th and 16th November 2025 despite the fact that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had delivered a Judgment forbidding the holding of the said Convention in Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025 Between Hon Austine Nwachukwu & 2 Others and INEC & 8 Others. "The Injunction issued by Justice Akintola amounts to sitting on appeal against the Judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in the above mentioned Suit. Copy of the Judgment of the Federal High Court with specific attention to pages 88 - 93 where the Federal High Court specifically ruled and ordered as per Reliefs Number 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 respectively to the effect that the PDP is not entitled to hold convene or conduct its national convention scheduled for the 15th and 16th days of November, 2025 is hereby attached. "For the purpose of introduction, we were the Plaintiffs in the said Suit Number FHC/ABJ/CS/2 120/2025 which culminated into a Court Judgment delivered in our favour on 31st October 2025. The said Judgment forbade and restrained the Peoples' Democratic party from proceeding with its planned National Convention slated for 15th and 16th November 2025 due to the failure of the PDP to fulfill certain mandatory requirements which are conditions prrecedent to the holding of the said Convention. "Your lordship, the choice of Ibadan, Oyo State and in particular, the choice of Justice A.L. Akintola's Court for the hearing of a fresh Suit and the grant of an Ex-Parte Injunction against the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC), Peoples Democratic Party and its National Officers whose Headquarters are in Abuja raises serious Suspicions and calls for deep scrutiny considering the fact that it was the same Justice A.L. Akintola that was chosen to head the Local Government Elections Tribunal to hear Petitions arising from the Local Government Elections conducted by Governor Makinde's administration in Oyo State. "Even a non-Lawyer knows that a State High Court lacks the authority to function as an appellate Court over a decision of the Federal High Court. Therefore, the Ex-Parte Order made by Justice A.L. Akintola despite the conclusive determination of a similar Suit at the Federal High Court with finality undermines and further casts aspersions on the Judicial Reforms being championed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria. By Justice A.L. Akintola's Ex-Parte Order, his lordship had thus appointed and constituted himself into an appellate Court and had sat on appeal over the judgment of the Federal High Court and varied same via an Ex-Parte Order. "His lordship cannot feign ignorance of the judgment of the Federal High Court on the same subject matter because Justice Omotosho's judgment was not only widely televised on many National Media Houses like NTA, TVC, Arise News, Channels Television and others but also circulated and reported on many National Dailies like Daily Trust Newspaper, The Nation as well as other online News Media. "In the light of the foregoing, we hereby appeal to your Lordship to cause a probe of the circumstances leading to the unwarranted grant of an Ex-Parte Order by lustice A.L. Akintola of the High Court of Oyo State and to ensure that the learned Judge faces punishment if found wanting. Doing this will ensure that the Judicial space is sanitized and made uncomfortable for Judges who lend themselves as willing tools in the compromise of the ethos upon which Judicial authority rests." In an affidavit deposed to by one of the petitioners, Hon. Amah Abraham Nnanna, he stated as follows; "I am the PDP Chaiman of Abia State by the virtue of which I am very well conversant with this case. "I am one of the Plaintiffs in Suit No: FHC/CS/2120/2025 in which Hon. Justicc J.K. Omotosho delivercd judgment on the 31st day of October, 2025 against INEC, PDP and the National Executives of PDP sued as 3rd to 9th Defendants. "I know that from the CTC of the judgment that INEC and PDP were clearly directed not to proceed with the National Convention of the PDP slated for l5th and 16th of November, 2025 until certain conditions are met. "I know as a fact that none of the Defendants have appealed against the said judgment delivered on the 31st day of October, 2025. "To our dismay, as Plaintiffs in the said judgment, Hon. A.L. Akintola of the High Court of Justice of Oyo State constituted himself into the Court of Appeal of Nigeria and set aside the said judgment of the Court on the 3rd of November, 2025. "I hereby verify that the entire facts stated in our petition are nothing but the truth of the situation and circumstances of the judgment of the Federal High Court and the Exparte Order delivered by Hon Justice A.L. Akintola which automatically set aside the Order of the Federal High Court." |

Efforts by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to address air pollution, with emphasizes on the importance of adopting clean energy solutions received a boost, as a youths advocacy group has taken the campaign to schools and markets. The youths advocacy group visited some major markets and schools in the FCT yesterday, and today to distribute handbills, fliers and talk to students and members of the public. The Breathe Clean Air Abuja project, which is scheduled for launch on November 13, is a flagship public-private partnership initiative under the FCTA. The campaign will focus on raising awareness about the dangers of charcoal and firewood stoves, aiming to replace traditional firewood stoves with gas stoves and reach over 5,000 households across the six area councils of the FCT, particularly in underserved communities. Led by Ms. Daniella Omotola, a young Rotaractor (Rotaract Club of Omole Golden, District 9111) and behavioral advocate, the youths group included members of Rotaract Clubs in the FCT and Youth Corps members. They educated students and members of the public on environmental protection and the upcoming “Breathe Clean Air Abuja” project. Mandate Secretary, FCTA Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, who declared the youth-focused advocacy campaign open in Abuja on Monday, announced that the Secretariat was collaborating with Rotaract Clubs in the FCT and other stakeholders, to sensitize young people on the dangers of air pollution and the importance of adopting clean energy solutions. "Members of these clubs are to join the outreach efforts to further expand the campaign’s reach and impact among young people," she said. The campaign will focus on raising awareness about the dangers of charcoal and firewood stoves, encouraging the switch to cleaner cooking methods using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and promoting habits that protect the environment from pollution and hazardous substances. Speaking during the advocacy visits, Omotola said her passion was to mobilize young people, especially students in secondary and tertiary institutions, to take the lead in protecting the environment for future generations. She said; "Air pollution affects our planet, it affects our lives. Therefore, as youths, we must get involved in whatever that is needed to be done to protect our environment. "For us, we have employed interactive and creative approaches for youths engagement. We are introducing competitions, debates, poem recitations, talent hunts, social media challenges, and the formation of environmental clubs. "We will give incentives and prizes to outstanding participants to further motivate their involvement. Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has congratulated the new Acting National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman. Fayose, who urged the new national chairman to urgently bring peace and unity to the party, said there was no better time to have a new direction for the party than now. Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, who is also the Sadaunan Takushara, emerged Acting National Chairman of the PDP, owing to the suspension of the Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum. Reacting to the emergence of Abdulrahman Mohammed, Fayose said the PDP was in dire need of a new direction and the new Acting National Chairman should step in immediately to provide it. "I congratulate the new chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman. I urge him to unite the party and restore confidence in its members. "Most importantly, he should look into the shenanigans and injustice done in States like Ekiti and others with a view to correcting them in accordance with the party constitution and existing court pronouncements. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, will attend the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS) in Dubai this week. The Minister's Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, made this known in a statement in Dubai, on Monday. Wike, who left Abuja on Sunday, arrived Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), at about 4am on Monday. He was received by the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim as well as officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration who had arrived earlier. The officials were the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation, Benedict Daudu, Director, Department of Development and Control, Mukhtar Galadima, Director Engineering Services, Engr Chuks Udeh and Director of Protocol, Sani Musa Daura. On Tuesday morning, the Minister will lead a discussion panel in which he will field questions on the FCT, and also interact with Mayors of other capital cities during the summit. According to the event's organizers, the 2025APCS will deliver long-term value for cities and businesses seeking trade and investment opportunities in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and beyond. The Osun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to combating substance abuse among youths and workers across the state through a strategic partnership with the Drug-Free Project, a national initiative dedicated to promoting a drug-free society. Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, made this known while receiving the team from Drug-Free Project led by its Project Officer, Mr. Ifeoluwayinka Bamidele. Bamidele had expressed concern over the rising rate of drug abuse among Nigeria youths. Igbalaye who was represented by Mr. Olusoji Wojuade, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet, Special Services and Office of the SSG, commended the initiative and affirmed Osun state government’s readiness to collaborate on effective strategies to curb the menace. “The Osun State Government is ready to partner with any organization committed to safeguarding our youth and securing a healthy future for our state,” Igbalaye stated. Earlier in his remarks, Mr. Bamidele expressed appreciation for the state government’s support, describing it as a great milestone in their mission to create a drug-free society. The incidents, which reportedly occurred between September 24 and 29, 2025, center on accusations involving the missing sandwich and subsequent disagreements over her termination and unpaid entitlements. According to Mrs. Hanson, on September 24, her coordinator informed her that a parent had reported a missing sandwich from their child’s lunch box. The coordinator advised her to monitor the classroom closely to prevent further incidents. Taking proactive measures, Mrs. Hanson said she moved the child’s lunch box to her desk on the same day, while preparing for the school’s Cultural Day event, to ensure it was secure. However, on September 25, the coordinator reported the same issue again, prompting Mrs. Hanson to request a review of the classroom’s CCTV footage, which, according to her, covers all areas of the class. On September 29, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, the school president, allegedly arrived at the school with a police officer and threatened to have Mrs. Hanson arrested over the incident. After reviewing the CCTV footage, the officer reportedly found no evidence to warrant an arrest and instead took her statement. Despite this, Mrs. Hanson said she was verbally informed that her employment had been terminated. Following her dismissal, Mrs. Hanson claimed she repeatedly contacted the school to demand her unpaid salary and accumulated monthly deductions of ₦5,000, which she said had been withheld for about five years. According to her employment contract, these deductions were to be refunded upon resignation or termination. However, she alleged that the school management failed to respond to her inquiries. Frustrated, Mrs. Hanson filed a formal statement with the police. In response, Mr. Shaibu allegedly demanded her detention and threatened to have her jailed. The development has sparked concern among observers, raising questions about the school’s handling of the situation, the fairness of her dismissal, and the withholding of her entitlements. It's not everything you must play politics with, but let me say this. Peter Obi, you were governor for eight years in Anambra State. If you had finished all the jobs in 8 years, nobody will be talking about developing Anambra now. The money was there to develop Anambra State but instead of developing Anambra, he took the state's money and put in his bank (Fidelity Bank), where he was the highest shareholder, so that he'll be making profit while Anambra will be suffering. He stayed as governor for eight years while I've been in office for two years. I challenge him to come out publicly and compare what he did for eight years in Anambra with what I have done in the FCT in just two years. By next week, we'll showcase what we've done regarding public schools in Abuja. You cannot become president only when you go to one IDP camp. When you were governor, why didn't you do your birthday in IDP camp. It's now that you want to be president that you remembered to celebrate your birthday with the less privileged.

The 2023 elections were a political awakening that exposed the fragility of Nigeria’s opposition and, more specifically, the Southeast’s negotiating power. The euphoric push for Peter Obi’s presidency, though emotionally charged, mistook passion for strategy. Power, in politics, is not dashed or gifted; it is taken through structured alliances and hard negotiations. To understand where things went wrong, one must look back at 2015. Atiku Abubakar’s defection from the PDP was not a mistake but a strategic recalibration. The political pendulum had swung North after President Yar’Adua’s death, and the North was determined to reclaim power. Buhari became the vessel of that northern consensus, backed by a broad coalition that united strange bedfellows under the APC. That coalition made victory inevitable. In 2023, however, ambition trumped strategy. Rather than building a united front, the opposition fragmented itself. The Labour Party’s rise under Peter Obi, though inspiring, became a parallel movement detached from the realities of coalition politics. The insistence that power must be “dashed” to a perceived messiah blinded many to the necessity of merger politics, the same tool that unseated PDP in 2015. As 2027 approaches, the ruling APC is consolidating its grip, absorbing defectors and widening its political base. Meanwhile, opposition parties remain divided by ego, regional sentiment, and wishful thinking. If the Obidient movement truly seeks power, it must evolve from online fervor to realpolitik, building bridges, negotiating interests, and forming alliances. Nigeria’s power game rewards strategy, not sentiment. Until opposition leaders bury pride and converge under one national coalition, history will repeat itself and 2027 will be a rerun of 2023. |

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has said that no judge of the FCT will live in a rented apartment by the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first tenure. Wike made this known in Abuja on Monday, at the inauguration of the construction of housing units for the President, Court of Appeal, Chief Judges of the Federal High Court, FCT High Court, and President of Industrial Court. The minister said that the gesture was part of Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare and enhancing the performance of judicial officers in the country. He said he had told Tinubu that his government must show a difference in its approach to the welfare of judicial officers saying, “we can’t afford to continue to see judges living in rented houses. “Sometimes you don’t know the landlords of these houses; sometimes you don’t know their neighbours. “These judges preside over criminal matters or other serious matters indeed and of course, you never can tell what will happen. “Our judges, our judicial officers, you deserve the best, and I thank God that Mr President has made it a policy to see that during his tenure, the narrative is changed and we’re happy”. He assured the heads of the courts that the housing would be completed in 12 months, adding that the Certificate of Ownership of the houses were issued in the names because they would become their property upon retirement. He added that the ongoing construction of 40 houses – 10 for Judges of the Court of Appeal, 10 for Federal High Court Judges and 20 for Judges of the FCT High Court would be completed by the end of the year. Wike also assured the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Justice Benedict Kanyip, that the gesture would be extended to the judges of the industrial court. On her part, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described the project as a collective commitment to strengthening the pillars of justice and governance in the nation’s capital. “This project is about honour, dignity, and institutional pride, providing befitting residences for our esteemed heads of courts whose wisdom and integrity uphold the rule of law in the country,” Mahmoud said. Earlier, Kanyip thanked Tinubu for approving the project, in line with his administration’s emphasis on improving judicial welfare and independence. According to him, providing safe, comfortable, and secure residences is crucial for the judiciary to function effectively without fear or external influence. “Like other public servants, judicial officers perform better when their personal security and mental well-being are assured. “This housing initiative expectedly will address these concerns, and enable the occupants to fully dedicate themselves to their judicial responsibilities.” Kanyip emphasised that judicial housing was part of the emoluments of judicial officers and enshrined in the 1999 Constitution. He commended Wike for the gesture, which described as a “practical demonstration of support for the judiciary”, that reinforces public trust in the justice system. Also speaking, the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Husseni Yusuf, acknowledged Tinubu and Wike’s leadership that situates justice at the heart of national development. Yusuf commended Wike for his unprecedented infrastructural development and bold interventions that have continued to advance justice sector reform. “The prioritisation of purpose-built residences for heads of courts underscores a deep appreciation for the conditions under which justice is conceived, deliberated, and delivered. “The initiative is therefore not merely architectural; it is a strategic affirmation of the welfare, security, and independence of judicial officers, elements essential to a credible and efficient judiciary,” he said.

The FCT Minister of State Dr Mariya Mahmoud officially launch the programmes at the Asokoro district hospital in Abuja,, Nigeria's capital. The Minister explained that the two health flagship programmes represent a holistic vision of health: protecting mothers and newborns during childbirth while safeguarding families from the dangers of household air pollution. Dr Mahmoud, also noted that the initiatives symbolize the administration’s resolve to invest in both immediate healthcare needs and long-term environmental sustainability. She further explained that the Mother–Baby kits, contained essential medical items and consumables, that would support safe labour, delivery, and neonatal care for women and babies across the FCT. "No woman should face childbirth without the tools and support she needs, and no child should begin life without adequate care. "These kits reflect our deep commitment to maternal and child health and to ensuring that every mother and baby are given the best start possible", she stated. The Minister, however, described the Abuja Breathe Fresh Air Project, as a bold, forward-looking initiative designed to reduce indoor air pollution in vulnerable households. Mahmoud further emphasized that by replacing polluting fuels such as firewood, charcoal, and kerosene with smart, efficient Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cookers, the administration is addressing one of the silent but deadly health risks in the homes: respiratory disease caused by smoke inhalation. She affirmed that these two transformative programmes are part of a broader transformation under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Speaking further, Mahmoud said the administration has strengthened its workforce through improved conditions, and training investments, while infrastructure upgrades—from hospital renovations including call rooms to the establishment of a Public Health Emergency Operations Centre—have boosted efficiency and resilience. Olayinka, in a statement on Saturday, said Sowore should rather face his criminal trial and be ready to provide the court judgement in which President Tinubu was convicted to defend his reckless statement. The FCT Minister's Spokesperson said "someone like Sowore, who collected over $3 million in 2019 to sell the governorship ticket of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Rivers State and was suspended by the party for corruption must have a lot of victims of his scams to contend with." The Minister will also commission the access roads in Sector Centre B, by Dakibiyu District and the newly constructed Roads ILS 11 (Esther Bali Street) and MAR 24 (Kez Udezue Street) in Mabushi District. Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said in a statement on Monday, that two road projects will be commissioned while 14 new projects will be flagged-off between Thursday, September 18, 2025 and Thursday, October 16, 2025. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has flagged off the distribution of fertilisers at 50 per cent subsidised rates to farmers across the six area councils of the territory. Speaking during the flag off of the distribution of 550 metric tonnes of assorted fertilisers, including conventional NPK, granular urea, NPK gel, and urea gel fertilisers in Abuja on Thursday, the minister, represented by his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, said the aim was to boost food production, stabilise prices, and strengthen food security in the territory. “This initiative underscores our firm commitment to food security, agricultural revitalisation, and the welfare of our people. As the FAO has emphasised, food insecurity threatens dignity, stability, and peace. “In view of this, and in alignment with Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the FCTA has institutionalised this annual support scheme to ease production costs and enhance yields. “The timing of this exercise is deliberate – coinciding with the farming season – to ensure that farmers can access inputs when they are most needed,” he said. The minister warned that measures had been put in place to ensure that the resources reached genuine farmers and to prevent diversion or misuse. He acknowledged that the fertilisers were not enough, stating that together with its partners, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Leventis Foundation, and the World Bank, the administration was prioritising capacity building and the promotion of good agronomic practices. “Together, these interventions are reclaiming degraded lands, supporting livelihoods, and revitalising key agricultural sectors. “Let me reaffirm that this administration remains committed to building a prosperous, inclusive and secure city,” Wike stated. Meanwhile, the Mandate Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Ango Abdullahi, thanked the minister for his consistent support, noting that the farmers will also receive 3,500 knapsack sprayers in addition to the fertilisers, and that there was an urgent need to strengthen the sector, as the population in Abuja continued to grow. Abdullahi said the fertilisers will be distributed to the farmers at a 50% subsidised rate “in strict adherence” to the Minister’s directives, adding that the Secretariat was aligned with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to reposition the agricultural sector of the FCT.

Notable leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who are loyalists of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, have demanded the retention of the 2021 convention's zoning arrangements, insisting that the National Chairman must remain in the North-Central. The PDP leaders, who met in Abuja on Monday night, under the auspices of Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP, also called for the conduct of a fresh South-East Zonal Congress, congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra States as well as Local Government congress in Ekiti State. They also demanded that the outcome of the South-South Congress held in Calabar, Cross River State, on February 22, 2025 and recognised by the court be respected. In the communique of the meeting, read by the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, the PDP leaders cautioned that "failure to comply with the resolutions and demands shall render any purported national convention invalid, as legitimate members of the party would be disenfranchised." The Minister's Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, who reacted to the zoning, asked; "Now, that the party has realised its mistake of not listening to Wike and the G-5 in 2022, and have chosen to do what they said, three years after, have they not been vindicated now?" "Recall that the FCT Minister and the G-5 had insisted that the presidential candidate of the PDP and its National Chairman must not remain in the same zone, insisting that since Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, from the North had emerged as the presidential candidate, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, also from the North must resign to pave the way for a National Chairman from the South. Ayu, however insisted on not resigning, with Atiku and his group backing him. Aftermath of this was the electoral misfortune the party suffered in 2023, followed by instability after the elections. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken delivery of four super 50-seater hybrid buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel fuel, donated by the Presidential CNG Initiative, to help boost public transportation in the territory. It would be recalled that the PCNG Initiative is a flagship programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, launched in 2023, to promote the widespread adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles, especially in mass transit systems, driving cost savings, job creation, energy security, and an environmentally friendly transport system. Receiving the keys for the high-capacity buses on Thursday, the Mandate Secretary, FCT Transport Secretariat, Chinedu Elechi, described the gesture as a welcome development, as it would complement the ongoing repositioning of the public transport architecture in the FCT. Elechi, who received the donation on behalf of the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike, noted that the buses would be moving over 200 people efficiently, thereby improving the daily mass transit of commuters across the territory. According to him, the FCT Minister has always maintained that no modern city can survive without a robust public transportation system. “So, public transportation is meant to move people from one point to the other, especially those who cannot afford private transportation, or those who can afford private transportation but opt to go on the public system. Because when tourists come in, they do not come with their private transportation. So tourism also depends on a robust public transportation system. “This is why the Honourable Minister (Wike) has built roads, bridges, and is now building bus terminals. We have just commissioned two of the modern bus terminals at Mabushi and Kugbo. “These buses, as good as they look, will be very helpful. We are going to get more buses; the minister is already working on that and we thank you so very much for this. They look very nice. I am sure both those who have private transportation and those who do not would enjoy the ride. “So, on behalf of the Honourable Minister and the FCTA, we want to thank you and say that you should extend our gratitude to Mr President, whose initiative this is, and to you too for your hard work,” he stated. Earlier, while making the donation, the Programme Director/Chief Executive of the Presidential CNG Initiative, Mr Michael Oluwagbemi, said the donation was part of its effort to make CNG a reality for efficient public transportation. He said the FCT, having demonstrated great support for the programme and shown great innovation by investing not just in roads but also in terminals under the leadership of the FCT Minister, deserved to be a major beneficiary of the initiative. He expressed hope that the delivery of the buses would serve as a foundational asset for the operation of the new terminals and a robust transportation system in the FCT. He explained: “This is a presidential initiative. Mr President wants to see Nigerians move around more cheaply, safely, and reliably. The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has conducted a major clearance operation at the popular UTC Complex and its surrounding area, targeting what it described as a "dark spot" and haven for criminal elements. The Director of Development Control in the FCTA, TPL Mukhtar Galadima, told journalists at the site that the operation was part of a broader city sanitation and security initiative. Galadima explained that the operation began with the clearing of a dumpsite near the UTC complex before moving to the main area where "hoodlums were." He noted that the FCT Security Council had directed the operation and that the administration planned to sustain the effort to ensure lasting change. The cleared land, located within the transit way corridor of the Abuja Master Plan, will be secured through fencing to prevent future encroachment. "In the Abuja Master Plan, the Land Use Act for Phase One and Garki District, this is part of the transit way corridor. It has not been developed yet, but it is being maintained and protected against any instance of land grabbing," he said. Responding to recent social media backlash regarding the demolition of a garden in Zone 3, Galadima clarified that proper procedures were followed and that the garden, Panorama, was never demolished. He stated that notices were served as far back as October 2023, with subsequent notices in 2024 and February 2025. Galadima said he also personally met with mechanics and even miscreants in the area to inform them of the impending clearance. He stressed that the park itself was not destroyed, saying, "The Park which was allocated to Panorama is still in existence. If you go there till today, the playground is there, the Gym is there, even the lounge. All other facilities are there in the Park." The director added that only "makeshift structures" and "scavengers' shanties" were removed. The Director of Security, represented by Dr Peter Olumuji, further explained that the clearance operation is part of a "purposeful" effort to tackle locations where criminals operate. He noted a significant drop in crime rates in areas that have been cleared over the past week, according to statistics from the FCT Police Command. "Since we started this operation one week ago, up till now, from the crime statistics records we followed up from the FCT Police Command, we noticed that the crime rate within the areas we have removed have reduced drastically," Olumuji said. He confirmed that arrested criminal elements are being profiled for prosecution and that the FCT's "Operation Sweep Abuja" is simultaneously tracking and removing displaced criminals from other locations. Olumuji revealed that "several machetes" used to attack residents have been recovered during the operations.

A New Abuja. A New Synergy. A Renewed Hope By Adeola Agoro My team of chosen and dedicated colleagues and I have spent the last few weeks producing content on the 10-Point Achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as delivered through the Federal Ministry that I consult for. After presenting the materials to my Director today, I felt the need to exhale properly. So I asked my driver to take us; myself, my Director and a staff to any nice place in town. I simply needed a breath of fresh air in a new environment. But as we drove through Abuja, I almost didn’t recognize the city again. One road led into another. I was stunned by the number of new roads we now have in town, and that’s not all, they’re absolutely beautiful. I remember the first thing that enthralled me when I visited Israel was their road network (I mentioned this in my book, Wonders of Israel: Lessons for Nigeria). In fact, in all the countries I’ve visited, I’ve always rated them highly because of their road infrastructure. So seeing Abuja now, stretched out and shining through these new roads under the Tinubu administration was truly impressive. As if reading my thoughts, my driver, Mr. Hakeem aka Fenuja said, “I’ve never been to America o, but I’ve seen it in films. Walahi, Abuja is now like America. Wike is trying for us.” I changed my plans to go and relax. I told him to take me to the office of Mr. Project himself - Nyesom Wike, where all the real planning happens, specifically to see my colleague, Mr. Lere Olayinka. Back in 2018, I served on the APC Ekiti State Governorship Campaign Committee (Sub Media). I was one of those who worked before, during, and after the campaign that led to Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s 2nd Term election. Mr. Lere Olayinka was on the other side. He worked for the PDP candidate, Professor Kolapo Olusola (Eleka). It was a tough job for all of us on both sides. They threw jabs, we countered and vice versa. But in all, we remained respectful. We never got personal. We defended our candidates, but never attacked each other as individuals. After the election, we all dissolved into the space ahead, back to our careers and businesses. No hurt feelings. So, today, with the confidence of someone who fought a good fight without hurting feelings, we went to Mr. Lere Olayinka’s office without a prior appointment. And we were received with warmth and grace. I may not know everything in this world, but one thing I know for sure is this: Tinubu is working. I can’t speak for what other media units in ministries are doing about publicity, but I know that my Minister, the Permanent Secretary and even the Director of Procurement, all want the achievements so far to be showcased to the world. There are many achievements. But civil service operates on bureaucracy, and with bureaucracy comes delayed approvals for something as important as publicity. This is probably why much is not yet placed out for the world to see. However, I don’t need approval to speak about the visible transformation of Abuja. Even Lokogoma, where I live, now has streetlights and we can move easily at night and the crime rate in this area has reduced significantly. I was away in Lagos for six months and came back to a city I could hardly recognize. Wike has come to replant Abuja and many of us are happy. As for Mr. Lere Olayinka, know this: You now have in me a partner with the restless creative spirit with the tools to make the Abuja work of Tinubu and Wike shine brighter. This is a new synergy. Former Governor of the Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has criticized the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government. Fayemi said Nigerians are hungry under Tinubu’s administration, adding that Nigerians may not vote for him in 2027. In a video sighted by DAILY POST, Fayemi was seen saying that Nigerians are angry with the Tinubu-led Federal Government and insinuating that they will not vote for the APC in the presidential election. Speaking in Yoruba, Fayemi said: “Except we are deceiving ourselves, Nigerians are not happy with the Federal Government. Because of hunger and lack of money. “If we look at the roads, especially federal roads, whoever that is coming from Efon Alaaye and passes through Erio Ekiti will know what his eyes will see. “Whoever that is coming from Omuo Ekiti and passes through Ilasa Ekiti to Ayedun Ekiti will know what his eyes will see. When we did this road that BAO (Governor Biodun Oyebanji) just completed, I think like N18 billion to N20 billion was spent on that road. “Federal Government said they didn’t send us to do the road, so no refund was made. If they had refunded the money, won’t the governor have used the money to do the phase 2 of the road we did from Ado Ekiti to Iyin Ekiti, and construct the road to Aramoko-Ekiti?” Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye and another member of the House of Assembly, Tope Longe were on the high table with Fayemi in the video. The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Rivers State has named its convocation Arena after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. The arena, was officially inaugurated on Saturday by the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas. The inauguration was part of activities marking the university’s 35 Combined Convocation Ceremony and 50th Anniversary. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, said that the first convocation of the university in 1982, was held in the old arena. “We are proud today, to celebrate the 35th convocation in our 50th year of existence in this fantastic edifice, built by the Rivers Government during Wike’s administration,” he said. Also, Ibas commended the contribution of Wike to the development of the institution. According to him, the conception and construction of the arena under Wike’s stewardship, reflects his enduring legacy in infrastructural and educational development. “The ultra-modern convocation arena, now proudly inaugurated, is a testament to what is possible when vision is aligned with commitment. Your Excellency, we honour your foresight. “This arena, both in design and purpose, is not only a venue for convocation, it is also a sanctuary where dreams are validated; where academic journeys culminate in triumphs; and where future leaders will be publicly honoured. “It will involve policy dialogues, innovation exhibitions and ceremonies that shaped the character and capacities of generations to come.” He said that the inauguration of the edifice was symbolic, stressing that it represents continuity and a bridge between legacy of excellence and the promise of tomorrow. Responding, Wike, who was equally conferred with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Political Science (D.Sc Honoris Causa), thanked the university for finding him worthy of such exalted honour. “I must place on record that my wife and entire family hold this honour as pre-eminent and totally gratifying. “Our gratitude knows no bounds,” he said. The minister said that UNIPORT availed him the rich and concrete intellectual foundation upon which his socio-economic and political ascendancy have been fittingly predicated. “I was educated both in character and learning. “It is in the light of the foregoing that I have always strongly believed that every alumnus should give back to the university as a mark of pure gratitude. “This also explains why I freely give to this institution whenever I had the opportunity to do so,” he said. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MAG International Links Ltd, a private investor, for the development of City Walk Abuja. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike said during the ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, that the project would be a replica of City Walk Dubai. The project, which would cover about 200 hectares, was inspired by the City Walk concept in Dubai. It will bring together a thoughtfully curated mix of residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, institutional, and healthcare facilities. Wike said that the MoU was to ensure that the company delivers the project based on agreed work plans and timelines. “I wish to say that the company has submitted their drawings, which have been approved, and their Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) is ready. “But we have to sign an agreement such that if you don’t comply within the outlined specification and agreed timeline, then we have the right to revoke the land. “We are not going to just give you a C-of-O and then nothing happens. We will not accept that again,” he said. He pointed out that so many people have collected land for mass housing and other developments “but ended up as land speculators, selling the land. “We will not accept that. “People have collected 200 hectares, 300 hectares and in 20 years nothing has happened. We have changed that pattern, so we are going to monitor the developments strictly,” he said. He said that Abuja City Walk would be developed in the area earlier designated for Abuja Technology Village, located along Airport Road, but had remained undeveloped for the past 20 years. “I want to make it clear that we have had problems with land grabbers in Abuja Technology Village, even those in the technology village are part of the problems. “In the past 20 years, nothing has happened in the area and therefore, I would not like to lose this opportunity that we have seen investors who really want to invest and develop the land for the good of the city. “If anybody has gone to Dubai and has seen the City Walk, there is no way you will not appreciate and encourage investors that are willing to do the same in Abuja. “This is because the whole essence of the “Renewed Hope Agenda” is not only to bring investors, but also to create employment for our people,” he said. The minister said that the project would be developed in phases, with foundation laying hopes to take place between July and August. He added that the first phase of the project would be completed and delivered in May 2026, to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s third year in Office. Describing the project as “key” to the development of Abuja, Wike assured the investor of full support as directed by Tinubu to encourage investors to invest in the FCT for national development. He said that the FCT would provide access roads to enable the investor to begin work on the site immediately. “The Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority is doing his best to see that there is no delay in this project. “We have made sure that legally nothing will hinder the company from executing the project. “To encourage them, Director Development Control is here to make sure that nobody obstructs them and the Director of Land is here to make sure they have access to their land,” he added. The Executive Director of the company, Dr Kassim Gidado, noted the ongoing transformation in the FCT, which he said had increased investors’ confidence to make returns on investment. Gidado assured the minister that the City Walk Abuja would not replicate the one in Dubai but edge it. According to him, the project will be built to suit local cultural and traditional flavour and transform the Lugbe axis completely. “This development represents a bold new direction for real estate in Nigeria—blending elegance, sustainability, and economic value to create a truly world-class destination “The City Walk Abuja, a landmark master-plan will redefine urban experience in the FCT.”
