The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on Muslims in the country to use the Ramadan fasting period to offer prayers to Allah (SWT) for the peaceful co-existence of the country while also giving their minds and hearts to teachings by Islamic Scholars during the fasting period. Wike, in a statement on Saturday, by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said that it was important for Muslims, especially those in the FCT to assist the country with prayers during this Ramadan period. He said; “Fasting as one of the five pillars of Islam should not be just a period for abstaining from food and drink, the period should also be used to pray fervently for the country. "It is my plea to our Muslim brothers and sisters to open their hearts and minds to the Tesfir of the Holy Month of Ramadan and allow themselves to be guided by them.” The Minister congratulated Muslim faithful for seeing the beginning of the 30 days fasting period and prayed that they will all see the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The Supreme Court has barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Accountant General of the Federation and other agencies from releasing funds to the government of rivers state until it purges itself of what the court describes as flagrant disobedience to court orders. In a one hour, thirty-six-minute judgement delivered by justice Emmanuel Akomaye, the five-man panel of the court unanimously dismissed the cross-appeal filed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara challenging the validity of the House of Assembly presided over by Martin Amaewhule as the Speaker. In dismissing Governor Fubara’s appeal, the court ordered Martin Amaewhule to resume sitting immediately with other elected members of the rivers state house of assembly. The court held that it is an aberration for Governor Fubara to have purportedly presented an appropriation bill before a four-man House of Assembly thereby denying twenty-eight constituencies of effective representation in vagrant violation of a court order mandating him (Fubara) to re-present the 2024 appropriation bill before a validly constituted Assembly led by Amaewhule. The apex court further held that the actions of Governor Fubara over the alleged defection of twenty-eight members of the Rivers Assembly is an act of brigandage and dictatorship aimed at preventing the House from performing its legitimate functions under the speakership of Amaewhule. The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has been accused of servicing his political alignment with the House of Representatives member, representing Ideato North Federal Constituency of Imo State, Ikenga Ugochinyere with N4.8 billion monthly. The One Nigeria Movement (ONM), which made this allegation in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said it could not longer keep silent in the face of gross and bare-faced use of money meant for the development of Rivers State to feed a single individual. According to a statement on by its Convener General, Ahmed Sodiq-Mugoro and Secretary, Babatunde Aliyu, ONM, said, people of Rivers State must begin to hold the governor accountable and stop the looting being perpetrated, using the political crisis in the State as a cover. The group alleged that each of the 23 Council Chairmen in the State are made to contribute N100 million monthly as "Political Development Fund" while N2.5 billion comes from Governor Fubara, making N4.8 billion. This N4.8 billion is said to be meant for the Action Peoples Party (APP), under which the present Local Councils Chairmen and councilors contested the controversial Local Government elections. Monthly, House of Representatives member, Ugochinyere, collects this sum of N4.8 billion on behalf of his party, APP. It has therefore become important that the people of Rivers State begin to ask Ugochinyere what investment he made in the State that he is reaping N4.8 billion profit monthly.

FEBRUARY 17, 2025 PRESS STATEMENT THE APC RESPONSE TO SENATOR TAMBUWAL’S PATRIOTIC WARNING ON DEFECTIONS IS AN ATTEMPT TO SILENCE OPPOSITION VOICES AND MASK NIGERIA’S DETERIORATING SITUATION The recent statement by the All Progressives Congress (APC), signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, attacking His Excellency, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is a blatant attempt to silence opposition voices and divert public attention from the deepening crises facing Nigeria. Rather than addressing the pressing issues of economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failure, the APC resorts to cheap propaganda and personal attacks—a tactic that underscores its desperation and failure of leadership. Senator Tambuwal’s caution about the lure of “stomach infrastructure” behind recent defections to the APC is not just a political statement but a patriotic call for Nigerians to remain vigilant in defending democracy. As an experienced statesman, he has witnessed the APC’s increasing use of coercion, enticement, and intimidation to weaken the opposition and pave the way for one-party authoritarian rule. His warning serves as a wake-up call for all Nigerians to reject opportunistic politics and prioritise leadership defined by integrity, principle, and vision. The APC’s attempt to frame recent defections as a result of President Tinubu’s so-called economic reforms is both misleading and insulting to Nigerians who continue to endure unprecedented hardship. The reality under this administration is grim. Inflation has soared, pushing the cost of living beyond the reach of millions, while insecurity has worsened, turning homes, farms, and highways into danger zones. Unemployment rates continue to rise, with countless businesses shutting down, leaving many in despair and deepening the scourge of poverty. Given these dire conditions, can those defecting to the APC genuinely tell Nigerians that life has improved under this administration? The answer is a resounding no. These defections are not a testament to APC’s good governance but rather a reflection of the desperation for survival amid economic distress. While the APC hides behind false narratives of economic recovery, ordinary Nigerians are struggling under the weight of hardship. Foreign reserves and trade surpluses mean little when citizens can not afford food, shelter, and healthcare. This administration has replaced governance with propaganda, hoping to deceive Nigerians into ignoring their suffering. Senator Tambuwal’s intervention is not about politics—it is a patriotic duty to warn Nigerians that the current political trajectory poses a serious threat to democracy and national stability. Instead of engaging in character assassination, the APC must take responsibility for its failures and work towards real solutions to Nigeria’s crises. Tambuwal is right: while politicians have the right to switch parties, today’s Nigeria does not present the APC as a credible alternative for good governance. Unlike in the past, when political realignment could be justified by ideological shifts, the APC of today offers nothing but propaganda, hardship, and broken promises. Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads. The challenges of economic collapse, insecurity, and rising public discontent demand genuine leadership, not political mudslinging. Senator Tambuwal’s call is a reminder that Nigerians deserve better—leaders who prioritise their welfare, policies that address real problems, and a democracy where opposition voices are respected, not stifled. The APC must rise to the occasion by addressing Nigeria’s problems with sincerity and competence rather than attacking those who dare to speak the truth. As one of the founding leaders of the APC, while still serving as SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal demonstrated an unassailable record of selflessness and patriotism in that promising collaboration for national salvation. Regrettably, the endeavour was mismanaged by self-serving leaders who now promote STOMACH INFRASTRUCTURE to lure weak souls looking for shelter from INFLATION and DECLINING PURCHASING POWER! The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he would celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office with inauguration of many projects. You can see how they came out in numbers to celebrate the progress of work so far,” he said. The minister thanked the area council chairman, the youths and community members of the affected communities for supporting the execution of the projects. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Executive Council, in its latest meeting, approved several key projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, security, and asset protection across Abuja. Among the major approvals is the contract for the construction of a 33KV power supply line from Dawaki to Bwari. This project is expected to significantly improve electricity supply in the area, reducing power outages and fostering economic activities. Additionally, the council approved the installation of a solar streetlighting system along Arab Road and the U-Shape Road that connects Arab Road, further improving security and ease of movement at night. In a bid to strengthen the judiciary system in the FCT, the council also approved the construction of Magistrate Courts in Asokoro and Garki districts. These courts are expected to enhance access to justice and ease the burden on existing courts. Security infrastructure is also receiving a boost, as the FCTA approved the construction of three additional police stations, bringing the total to 12 new police stations, with two allocated to each of the six area councils. The move is aimed at improving security presence and response times in communities across the FCT. Furthermore, the council greenlit the construction of Multi-Event Sports Centres, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to youth development and recreational activities. These centres will provide a hub for sports and community engagement. In a proactive step towards safeguarding public assets, the FCTA also approved a comprehensive insurance cover for its moveable and non-moveable assets, ensuring protection against unforeseen damages or losses. These developments reflect the FCTA’s commitment to improving infrastructure, security, and governance in the Federal Capital Territory. Residents can expect enhanced public services and a better quality of life as these projects take shape.

Like I said yesterday, the appointment of Barrister Nyesom Wike as a Minister has remained the only excuse available for the Bauchi State governor to defend his glaring lack of capacity to lead the PDP as Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum. Wike is not the first member of opposition parties in Nigeria to serve as Minister. 1. Late Chief Bola Ige, a member of Alliance for Democracy (AD), was a Minister under the PDP Govt of Obasanjo. 2. Dr Olu Agunloye, a member of AD then was a Minister under the PDP Govt of Obasanjo. 3. Mrs Modupe Adesanya, daughter of the late Afenifere leader and a member of AD was a Special Adviser under the PDP Govt of Obasanjo. 4. Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande, a member of ANPP then, was a Minister under the PDP Govt of late Umar Yar'Adua. 5. Present Governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, who was a Senator under ANPP, resigned from the Senate to accept Ministerial appointment under the PDP Govt of Jonathan. 6. Barrister Nyesom Wike, a member of the PDP is currently serving as a Minister under the APC Govt of Tinubu. 7. Bianca Ojukwu, a member of APGA, is currently serving as a Minister under the APC Govt of Tinubu. Now, the same Bala Mohammed, who left the Senatorial mandate he got as ANPP member to become Minister under a PDP Govt is running his mouth like a faulty tap. He said he resigned after becoming a Minister, issorite. But the question is, as a Senator elected under the platform of ANPP, should he have accept to be Minister under a PDP govt? That he (Bala Mohammed) defected to the PDP few months after becoming a Minister is a further demonstration of his anywhere-belle-face politics and obviously, if he was offered even a Special Assistant position by the APC Govt of Buhari in 2015, he would have accepted it and defect to the APC. As for us, we are done with any object by the name Bala Mohammed. Reason is, we have better things to do and we won't be available to be used by any ineffectual being to lunch a dead-on-arrival 2027 presidential ambition. What we are seeing in Edo election is people reasoning aligning with competence, and the principle fairness, equity and justice. Imo Guber: Why General Jack Lincoln Ogunewe is the best Governorship candidate to tackle the incessant Insecurity issues in Imo State. Speaking about capacity, character and political willingness in an executive position it will be of great service to espouse on issues only and state to the generality of Ndi Imo the man we want to govern our state and give us a purposeful governance. Briefly, let's take a toll on General Jack Lincoln Ogunewe's prowess in his capacity to end insecurity in our state; Extensive military experience: General Jack Lincoln Ogunewe has a solid background in the military, having served in various high-ranking positions. His experience in dealing with security threats, understanding operational tactics, and planning effective strategies would be invaluable in tackling the insecurity issues in Imo state. Strong leadership skills: As a general, Ogunewe has demonstrated strong leadership skills, which are essential in addressing security challenges. He has the ability to command and coordinate security forces, effectively manage resources, and make critical decisions under pressure. Comprehensive understanding of security issues: With his extensive military background, Ogunewe possesses a deep understanding of the underlying causes and dynamics of security challenges. This knowledge would enable him to develop holistic approaches to tackling the incessant insecurity in Imo state, addressing both the symptoms and root causes of the problem. Ability to foster collaboration: Ogunewe's experience in leading diverse teams and coordinating efforts would help him foster collaboration among various security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders. By creating partnerships and promoting synergy, he can enhance information sharing, intelligence gathering, and joint operations to address insecurity effectively. IMO SECURITY MAYHEM, ONE STRIKE TOO MANY Experience To The Rescue How long shall they kill our brothers while we stand aside and look? How long shall they destroy our lives while we stand aside and watch? How long shall they destabilise our society while we stand aside and shake? How long shall they waste our essence while we wait on the government? The questions could go on and on, but to what end? It is sound reasoning and commonsensical to think that with less than two months to the much anticipated Imo governorship election of November 11, 2023, the state would have been an improved entity from what it was before, during and immediately after the general elections of same year, at least in its security and ease of life. But like every other area of what makes a state, this expectation remains an expectation. The least any government, especially, one justling to retain a stolen mandate could do is to improve on what was met on ground. However, you and I know that a stolen item is hardly maintained. But we are talking about one complete state of the thirty-six (36) that make up Nigeria. One that was the safest and envied before this present regime that claims to have done enough for Ndị-Imo. In all truth, it has done enough, but rather than 'for', it is 'to' and 'against' Ndị-Imo; the height of it being that our security forces now need security themselves. All Hope is lost! What happened in Umualumaku, Ehime Mbano, as seen in all media on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 where the men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) on official duty were attacked and inhumanly terminated was one attack too many to tolerate under this shameful sham of a government led by the IMO APC, a strong statement of gross incompetence, utter confusion and a call to resignation of the inexperienced shot callers of the affairs of our beloved Imo. But it remains a pity that we are governed by men to whom power is the primary thing. Sadly, they lay curses on the people should they choose a better life. Pathetic! But there is always a better option; an alternative to hope in. Whereas the hopeless government in Imo lacks knowledge of everything that has to do with good governance, especially, the security of life and property, Ndị-Imo need not be reminded “life comes first” and only experienced technocrats are the answer. Every state is a reflection of the character of her leader. We have seen the character of ours, and desire so little moving forward. We condemn and reject, henceforth, the government that is helpless in the face of disorder, mute before a chaos with no clue of a remedy no matter how long it lasted. Leadership is about problem solving. That is what we need. When the security outfit are unsafe and in need of safety, what is the fate of an ordinary Imolite? Ndị-Imo, the ball is in our possession now. Let us play well and win happily under the experienced security expert, Maj. Gen. Jack Lincoln Ogunewe Rtd., a seasoned technocrat for result oriented government. Jack is the solution!!! #ResetImo #MakeImoSafe #Vote_AA

...Youth Arise Now urge Ndi Imo to shun distractions and detractors ...we are in support of Ihedioha's mandate back to Douglas house The days of pseudonym are gone past our political cycle and mediocrity can not be permissible in the moral class. It is somewhat ridiculous to ascribe loyalty to yourself when in actual sense you lack decorum when it comes to integrity. No wonder all the detractors of a man destined to rescue Ndi Imo from this quagmire brought upon us by a rejected supreme court opportunist, clinge to straws rather than issues. It is no longer news that evil befell Imo state on January 14, 2020 and the people were left with a directionless toga. During the 7 months stead of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the former Governor of Imo state, there was a government and it was an all inclusive administration that took to cognizance the plight of Ndi Imo as it took to reforms, projects and putting in place a functional institution which put the state in a trajectory many adjudged as a proactive approach to governance. Every sector was carried along and development did begin from the grassroots. It is not only appalling but ridiculous to say the least that a group in the figment of their imagination and inducement will put up gibberish as a call for RT. Hon Emeka Ihedioha to relinquish his duty to Ndi Imo. The 'Owerri Youth Council' if they exist should as a matter of urgency and sensibility retract from this gutter behaviour. The questions Ndi Imo are asking this author without context are very direct; Who is Ekperechi Nnamdi Jacob?(who from our investigation on started existing from 2 days ago) Who are the members of Owerri Youth Council? At what time did this faceless group work with RT. Hon Emeka Ihedioha? Who are the members of Owerri Leaders of Conscience? It will be unfair, uncharitable and abmysal to attribute the rebuild Imo victory to one person or group, for Ndi Imo was on the ballot and won against all odds handing their fate to an administrator, a deliberate servant-leader, a stallion, a man with love for his people, a man entrenched with purpose and mission to rescue Ndi Imo across board. It will only be morally right for RT. Hon Emeka Ihedioha to recognize that the people have not lost their belief in his mandate by honoring the call of Ndi Imo come 2023 and will also be honorable not to focus on agents of this inept administration who have refused to provide the people with quality deliverables but deceptive approach towards governance. We therefore unequivocally reject all forms of distractions and task the good people of Imo state to massively continue to support the beautiful bride that started on a good note in 2019 before it was terminated by the ill-fated judgment that has left Imo state in a retrogressive pace. We also use this opportunity to appreciate the well meaning people Owerri zone who have continuallt shown unflinching support to the Ihedioha mandate which in no distance time will resume the rebuild process and we assure you it will remain an inclusive mission. God bless Imo state God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria Amb. Ajachukwu Eze Convener, Youth Arise Now
