@ alaskido:Maybe the ones you saw with the kids are toys, but the ones here aren't! Read my comment on this. https://www.nairaland.com/3372628/nigeria-army-undergoes-drone-training/2#49711128 |
Thank you @saints2 for the quick update. Well appreciated. Sunday Idajili |
Corrections Please: 1. First off, these are photos lifted off my Instagram page - https://instagram.com/sundayidajili 2. This training was conducted by my humble self and NOT by foreigners. 3. If you follow my postings, you will find that this training is on the use of small drones for acquisition of images for Analysis, change management and Image analysis. 4. The drones used for this training are designed and well suited for this purpose. They are made by DJI and are for commercial Photography use. They are NOT toys. They are not specifically designed for military surveillance. That the military is using them can be related to devices that have common applications between military and civilians e.g. phones, vehicles, cameras, flash lights 5. Nigeria's UCAVs, long range and long endurance drones are strictly operated by the NAF Only. Yes the NAF does have these assets. I was alerted by a staff who saw my Instagram photos on NL. Am not too frequent here, but a lot will remember me on these posts https://www.nairaland.com/1561907/nigerian-air-force-gulma-tactical#20332947 https://www.nairaland.com/1414595/nairalanders-remote-controlled-aircraft-suavs https://www.nairaland.com/1562012/video-gulma-tactical-uav-nigerias#20334787 https://www.nairaland.com/1565838/boko-haram-tracker-nigerias-first#20403127 Cheers, Sunday Idajili |
Don Jazzy was blunt and straight out with his feeling... Why beat around the bush and make generic statement? By the way, while I agree that lil kesh might entertain more (obviously with Young John the wicked producer always on the beat), I can never play his songs while kids are around. Almost, if not all is adult rated, and even then still too vulgar to appeal to every adult. Lyrically, He is wasting those awesome beats by Young John... Face it, every lil kesh fan is dancing to Young John's beat! Iranu...Abasha , skip to the next track please... |
![]() NL no kill person with laf... FYI people, we have sophisticated drones around us for naija soil. Gba be...believe it. |
Don't be deceived by anybody putting up a fancy DJI drone and saying they manufactured it. The best they should tell you is that they 'assembled' something, sort of. Visit http://drones.ng and our social channels for latest and accurate information on drones. Learn more!

and even more pictures. We are professionals in drones. We are experts. We build, we fly, we sell, we train.

Interesting to see someone invented what we are selling here. ha! We are the authorized channel for DJI drones and we have these eqiupments and even bigger drones here. We have been operating since 2013! http://drones.ng See pictures

Talk is indeed cheap. (Sips tea), Someone has succeeded in confusing somebody... again |
Nice move. I just hope these are proper surveillance drones with IR/Thermal sensors and not some multi-rotors meant for film making. I can tell you that $10,000 cant get the type of drone that will produce effective and actionable intelligence considering pipeline surveillance. I do hope they made the right choice in technology selection ![]() |
Sighs... We keep missing the point with the use of small drones...All you guys out there flying a DJI Phantom... how long does it take you to prep your drone, wait to get 8 satellites, launch, perform functional checks and then proceed to record your target? Robbery would have long taken place and all the spoils shared! A lot of small drones taking turns wil be required to cover a small sector in a persistent manner... and all things that fly have a limit imposed by weather as well as their technical specifications. My point, let's spend the money on building an effective 'Rapid Response' and then small drones will begin to make sense thereafter. Even with 24/7 persistent surveillance security camera's in homes, without rapid response in place, intruders will simply breath down your camera view and tell you '"we are here and coming in now" and there really is nothing you can do than watch them come in and wreak havoc. It Beats me how a politician in Lagos deployed a DJI phantom to monitor elections...maybe 500 units each with 15 batteries to cover accreditation till last vote is cast. Oh! Maybe its not persistent coverage...in which case they filmed a documentary as depicted by the video posted. Ahhh.. |
Again, my people - drone? yes. designed for persistent security? No! 15 minutes flight time, Sony Nex 7 camera, 800m video and control range...I know the owner of the DJI S800 Octocopter drone in that picture and the circumstances surrounding the presentation. Short endurance drones makes no sense when dealing with Rapid Response security issues. How can you respond and deter a robbery lasting 30 minutes? Let's improve our Rapid response units first and then small drones can begin to make the process more efficient. |
The NAF Ichoku UAV has been in development for a while now...kudos NAF. |
interesting.... |

@davitogreat Thanks for sharing! |
This short video of a young biker was shot entirely using Gopro in 1080p, 24fps narrow and wide mode. Aerial portions shot with GoPro 3+ black mounted on a DJI phantom drone with a H3-2d stabilized gimbal. Drone support provided by drones.ng We had fun putting this together. Hope you enjoy it and appreciate how little things like the Gopro and a small drone adds another dimension to story telling and capturing memorable events. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdFaxXx0bk |
We capture breathtaking full HD 1080p aerial videos and photos for your film project, Music video, Sports action, commercials, real estate businesses, etc. on 5D MK III flying rig. Kindly contact us - info@uas.ng , 08036622751 to discuss your projects. |
I think we should stick to the subject matter and discuss the use and regulation of theses 'toys' in a fresh post. Regulation is a huge discussion and we will get nowhere here. The crux of the matter in this post is that the media misrepresented the 'toy' as a US drone from Texas and security agencies questioned mr Folayan as a suspected US spy. I am happy this misrepresentation has been corrected by both the press and security agencies. Case closed. We can 'die' this post for now and discuss regulation in another. |
Pangea: @ mr sidajili@Pangea Hi my bro... good to hear from again... Am only sure of an organized club in Abuja. I will hook you up with some guys in Lagos who fly as individuals... about time we all get together nationwide and organize this hobby. When coming, grab yourself a DJI phantom from Amazon...you wont regret it. The rest of the rig depends on how pro you want to go. I own some phantoms with H3-2D gimbals with GoPro3+, and an s800 Spreading wings EVO with a Panasonic GH3 gimbal. My s800 setup is rigged to the teeth... 5 waypoints, 5GHz video downlink, Pilot camera, Payload camera, A2 autopilot, IOSD, 7inch screen with Diversity, fatshark goggles, tons of batteries. I am yet to post the stuning vidoes from the S800. What you see posted on youtube so far is the very simple DJI phantom with H3-2D and GoPro... And by the way, I am an authorized distributor for DJI products for anyone interested in a local purchase for aerial photography. There is a lot to learn to successfully operate these toys and get a good production. |
martinz1: Why do you say that usa drone are all fixed wing airplanes,,, haven't u heard about US drones mosquitoes and Birds,,, these are drones designed in. The form and size of mosquitoes and birds,, they can travel to anywhere ,, the Drones mosquito can inject some chemical into the skin of enemies,,, and lot more,,,, google is ur friend@Jakumo's point here is that long range drones cant be quads. YOu cant fly a 0.8kg quad all the way from texas to Nigeria. Haba na... read Jakumo's point again: "US drones that are designated for long-range operations are ALL fixed-wing airplanes, and NOT helicopter derivatives like the Walkera Model QRX350 shown in the above picture, which, by the way, looks suspiciously un-damaged, in the aftermath of a purported crash" |
Joagbaje: I have drones which I use for aerial videos. That little drone could not have broken the roof except the roof was broken before . Secondly . The pilot must be near by . Such drone can't fly for more that 10 mins . Its not for surveillance . It's not carrying a camera . Someone was just practicing flying and lost controll .Very true... and here below are some of my works in Abuja: Grand Square https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa01tKJtZuI Silverbird Cinemas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGvT2usN7Lk Chelsea Hotel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-rqjZ15YYw National Mosque https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7H_Wv_X1_4 Royal Falls Garden https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEc0eGOAEUI CBN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HMr903ZnCg |
Somorin#1:COMMON GUYS.. THIS IS NOT A DRONE. NOT A DRONE. NOT A DRONE... AND AGAIN, NOT A DRONE. FINALLY, IT IS JUST AN RC TOY... AT BEST A HOBBYIST AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY GADGET... |
@Jakumo Thanks for the early clarification on the fact that this is just a hobby grade quad copter. I got back from our regular RC flying club Sunday meetings to see the internet flooding again with another drone gist. I personally know Mr Folayan, the RC operator involved with this incident. He is not just an RC hobbysist, but a seasoned engineer with very strong interest in open source ArduPilot Project for Multirotor DIY UAVs. The QC that lost RF link is a walkera product, which Mr. Folayan was experimenting with together with his son. Mr. Folayan is a member of our RC Club in Abuja and a major contributor to the ICT industry in Nigeria. The use of very small inexpensive Quads for Aerial Photography is fast becoming a reality in Nigeria and we should not be scared but rather look at the benefits to the civil markets & tourism. This is just like a project any student in unmanned aviation study would undertake... and anything can fail in an experiment. I have been demonstrating the role and use of these quads in film production, photography, site survey, tower inspection and e-agriculture on my youtube page. I will make some videos i made of Abuja public and post back here in a couple of hours from now so we can all appreciate the role this 'toys' are playing in our fast changing world. I will be happy to answer any further questions where clarification is required. Mr. Folayan has accepted responsibility for this and will personally talk soon on NL (if he hasn't yet). |
