The Katsina State Government on Thursday cancelled all the activities lined up for the inauguration ceremony of new administration in the state under Governor Bello Masari. A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa cited the current security situation in the state for the cancellation which he said was in honour of victims of bandits’ attacks in the state. The statement said the only activity that would take place would be the mandatory swearing-in of the Governor and his Deputy but not disclose when and where the swearing-in would take place. “The Katsina State Government has cancelled all activities lined up for the inauguration ceremony of the new administration in the state. “The decision on a low-key celebration was taken following the unfortunate incessant attacks by bandits in some areas of the state which led to the death of many people and left several others injured and homeless. “To this end, all activities that are usually organized for the event have been cancelled except the mandatory swearing-in of the Governor and the Deputy governor-elect which is enshrined in section 185 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “The decision was to also commiserate with the families and other people who lost their loved ones or property as a result of these dastardly acts of the bandits. “The government of the state once again appeals to all law-abiding citizens to continue to remain calm as all hands are on the deck to restore normalcy in the state and bring the culprits to justice,” the statement read in part. |

The Supreme Court on Friday held that the All Progressive Congress, APC, did not have any valid candidate in all the elections that held in Zamfara State. The apex court, in a unanimous judgment that was delivered by a five-man panel of Justices led by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, held that the ruling party did not conduct valid primary elections to nominate candidates for any elective position in the state. It maintained that the Sokoto Division of the Court of Appeal was right when it held that the APC did not file any eligible candidate in the 2019 general election in Zamfara State. Consequently, the apex court, in its lead verdict that was prepared and delivered by Justice Paul Galinje, dismissed an appeal the APC lodged to challenge the appellate court’s judgement. Besides, Justice Galinje, awarded a cost of N10 million against the APC. “I find that the lower court was right in holding that there were no primary elections in Zamfara State. “The appeal had no merit and it should be dismissed. It is accordingly dismissed. “The party that has no candidate cannot be declared a winner of the election. Therefore, all votes that are credited to such party is deemed as wasted voted. “Candidates of parties with the highest number of valid votes cast with the required spread stands elected in Zamfara”, the Supreme Court held. By this unanimous judgement, all candidates of the APC that won elections in Zamfara State, including its governor-elect, Alhaji Mukhtar Idris, have been sacked. |

The Supreme Court on Tuesday morning upheld the earlier judgment of an Appeal Court which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ban the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State from fielding candidates for the forthcoming general elections In its ruling, the nation’s Apex court dismissed an earlier appeal filed by the APC challenging the judgment of a High Court which sat in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The High Court had barred the ruling party from conducting any primaries in the state to nominate candidates that would represent the party in the elections. However, the Court of Appeal granted stay of execution of the lower court's judgment which nullified all the primaries conducting by the APC in the state and restrained INEC from fielding the party's candidates in the general elections. Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had also insisted that the APC in Rivers State would not be fielding candidates for the polls. At an interactive meeting with reporters in Abuja last week, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Voter Education and Publicity, Festus Okoye said the Commission had taken a position on the issue. Okoye had disclosed that the position of the electoral umpire had not changed in respect of Rivers state APC candidates for the National Assembly and governorship elections. |

Instead of the igbos to vote for Buhari and get automatic presidency in 2023, they are rooting for Atiku because of restructuring forgetting that he's also a Fulani man they love to hate. How they trust same northerners to restructure a country they so much benefit from is beyond sane minds. Just like they did in 2015, when Atiku looses, Uchemofor will return from London and start screaming biafra or Death. I really pity those people and their kindergarten politics .
