mercylicious: @ Oga Siga, why chequing acnt? I don't like charge on my acnt. I prefer savings wit a debit or credit card....chequing acct is used for regularly needed money....savings comes with few strictions a chequing accts offers....Savings acct comes with huge transaction fees...some can be upto $5 per transaction depending on the type u have...chequing accts can give u unlimited transactions if u keep a certain amount in it....I am not a banker nor accountant...the best bet to clarify this is to ask a customer service agent or speak with a Personal banker.... |

(CNN) -- A Nigerian immigrant's dream came true when President Barack Obama signed into law a rare private bill granting him permanent residency in the Unites States. Victor Chukwueke, who lives in Michigan on an expired visa, came to the United States 11 years ago to undergo treatment for massive face tumors. He graduated from a university in the state, and plans to attend an Ohio medical school that requires him to have permanent residency, also known as a green card. In a rare act, the United States Congress passed a private bill this month granting him permanent residency. Obama signed the bill Friday. Private bills -- which only apply to one person and mostly focus on immigration -- are rarely approved. His is the only one to pass in Congress in two years. "I was overwhelmed with joy; it was nothing less than a miracle," the 26-year-old says. "Only in this country can so many miraculous and wonderful things happen to someone like me." Victor Chukwueke attends his graduation at Wayne State University, where he served as commencement speaker. Only in this country can so many miraculous and wonderful things happen to someone like me Victor Chukwueke Before coming to the United States at age 15, Chukwueke lived in the southeastern Nigeria town of Ovim. He suffers from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes massive life-threatening tumors on his face. Treated as an outcast because of his deformed face, he was depressed and humiliated, he says. His family abandoned him at an orphanage after taking him to the nation's best facilities for treatment. "I went to a large teaching hospital in Nigeria and the doctor touched my face and said there was nothing they could do," he says. " I cried and begged him to do something. I was so tired of the humiliation." http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/29/world/africa/us-nigerian-obama-law/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 |

Gobi38: @siga – My sister went to the Embassy today, filled out the form at the gate, guys at the gate took the form inside. 10 min later an Embassy official called her (was a Nigerian Lady) – she said her case is closed and nothing can be done unless she reapplies. My sister pleaded with her to forward her case to any of the Visa Officer – the lady declined. My assumption is that probably the lady failed to include her Tuition receipts in her package and further investigation will point to her mistake.....No wahala....first thing first....ask her to defer her admission...then reapply with same docs...I dont think there is any issue with her docs ...this was a mistake and it is ok....God knows why this error occured....na divine slow down ... no need to add any over the top docs ....but ensure u as a sponsor and ur sister write a very detailed letter stating what happened initially and to this effect u are reapplying as its ur desire for ur sister to get top education in Canada.....it is well... |
@Gobi38 ....its getting late in Naija now...any updates from ur sister yet...I'm very interested in this case..... ![]() |
dealexad: Prof Siga, lemme av ur email pls. Thanksnoshaking2012@gmail.com |
seir405: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/12/canada-reduces-waiting-time-for-visa-applicants/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter...they must be talking about visiting visa....all others can never be 10days bro....unless they want to waive Naija from Medicals, docs verification and Police reports which I 100% doubt with the current rep Naija get....so, it must be visiting....and they havent yet posted it on dem site sef....thats another thingy.....it might just be a proposal for now.... |
kelly4top: since you said everything is complete and that you paid both accommodation and tuition then i suspect the refusal must have been based on medical report. Also, hope your sister did not shout at them that day she visited them at the Embassy cos I know she was angry that day after receiving calls that what she submited was not found. Hope she controlled her anger and did not talk to them anyhow that day?....how did u know? Most people wont shout at any Embassy official calling them...as a matter of fact...even if visa official shout at her...na prayer she go take reply her....I hope her medical is not iffy though....but come to think about it...if her medical get kleg....dem go state am for the refusal letter....let us all just wait till tomorrow to here wetin dem talk.... |
Idomaboi: yeah..i did medicals and paid my fees..i am seriously praying o....I believe u will hear from them pretty soon....remember they are already overwhelmed with tonnes of delayed applications...so, I am sure u will hear from them pretty soon.....no matter how long....na positive result matter pass.... |
Gobi38: @ siga - She submitted her Medical to VAC on the 14th of November. Embassy called her on the 3rd of December to Pay her school fees / accomodation. Her case is really complicated to decipher....Damn....all I can say is damn....well....till tomorrow.... |
Gobi38: @ Mercylicious: - This is a very complicated case to decipher. When she was called for medical, the Embassy did not request for proof of tuition/accommodation payment. Embassy called two weeks after submission of medical to go pay her fees ASAP. Why did they contact her to make payment? - If she can't get in tomorrow, I will tell her to reapply...wait...after two weeks of medical? Medicals take more than two weeks though....for clarity...wat date did she do her medicals and wat date was she called to pay tuition? |
This Messi guy is simply blessed.....I bet even if na naija hin say hin wan come play for one single season....I am sure one money-miss-road Nigerian will pay up...cos of the returns.... |
kelly4top: I'm sure that CDHC must have asked her to pay both tuition fee and accommodation and she paid only tuition fee without stating reasons in writing why she could not or did not pay for accommodation. Try ask your sister the full gist cos CDHC are very strict. Them no send anybody....he stated that she paid both tuition and accommodation....Im pretty sure he paid it on her behalf since he is the sponsor and based in US which will make it easier and faster to pay....plus she said the lady told her everything is fine....Nna Gobi 38 ....na u pay the tuition and accommodation? |
dealexad:...missed one info...u go need yankee visa to make it in 38hrs cos u go need go thru yankee.....but if na trans-canada...which means u no go enter yankee at all....na 40hrs or more...u no know say Canada is massive? |
dealexad: Oga Siga,....5hrs flight baba....road trip is very much feasible...na 38hrs....thats non-stop....so, with God all things are possible....na ur body go speak for u sha... |
Gobi38: @ siga - Oga Saga- Thanks....most likely the receipt wasnt attached...please keep the house informed as this might be a learning experience for future cases like this....tx for sharing.... |

. People are really friendly here; always ready to help as we learnt. Due to the delay, my friend who came to welcome me had left and there was no way I could reach him. When I told one of the airport worker about my predicament, she obliged and gave me her phone to call to my friend.
