One man's meat is another's poison. The game was good for Nigerians and bad for the Zambians. Just sorry for the striker who lost his daughter.

That formidable combination of being broke and having exams at the same damn time... Just when you think that's all you realise your carryover course is clashing with one core course on the time table, and then a lecturer comes into the class for the first time on the day before exams and brags that at he'll set at least half of the exam questions and then drops one thick material for everyone to photocopy exactly 18hours before exam.

That much is obvious to anyone who has read about the war. Unfortunately the blood sucking demon is still on the prowl and he has once again set his sights on the east, with Kanu as his flag bearer.
Let them rush to war against the trigger happy Nigerian army, by the time it's all over the survivors will pick up the pieces and restart the cycle again..

Once upon a time, I worried about the earth, the survival of the human species, and so on....
But then I realised that all I feared was already in effect, worse still was the realisation that man was the monster in the equation...
No need to fear global warming, wars, diseases, hunger etc. If they don't end mankind, then mankind will annihilate itself... Man is far more bestial and primitive than he'll like to believe.....
If the world ends today I've got no worries.. The world has seen better days and man will not be missed.

The same state that owed salaries for so long.
The same state that was rumored to have misused their Paris Funds.
The truth is that politicians do not have the slightest regard for the masses. They pull off very silly stunts and annoying campaign strategies, the sad thing is that it works. And until people realise that all these things are just stunts, they really cannot say they deserve good leadership.

Nigeria and Misplaced Priorities are like
Afonja and Skull Mining grin
Or Ipod and Development grin grin grin angry

But seriously though, this sort of thing ought not to happen. Students who ought to be worrying about exams are being put under undue pressure.. Authorities in Nigeria seem to specialize in this, waiting till the last minute before giving one bizarre instruction that will send people into frenzy.. Students and Government workers can relate to this...
We need to stop prioritizing on things that have nothing to do with the subject at hand... If it was about uniform and low-cut America would be a Fourth world country if such a thing exists..

P.S Most Nairalanders will bet their left ball that lecturers still take advantage of girls for grades despite this false show of upholding decency.... cool cool cool

Nairaland / General / Gamblers Anonymous: Share Your Stories by silas24(m): 9:01am On Sep 14, 2017
Now I believe no one is a stranger to the recent surge of sports and virtual betting that is currently ravaging the country. The truth is that most people are unaware of how addictive and destructive it can be and those who know think they are alone in their misery.. So all who believe they have a problem with gambling should share their experiences with the house and recommend tips for others if they have any.. A problem shared is a lighter burden and your story may just help someone else realize that loosing everything gambling isn't the end of the world.... Please take this seriously...

Most if not all Nigerians know the details of the civil war and its impacts on the country and its ethnic groups. I personally have read several accounts of the war, from Alabi Isama's The Tragedy of Victory to Chinua Achebe's there was a country. The one thing they all agree on is that the war did more harm than good and even Ojukwu confessed that the war should not have been started in the first place. Millions of lives were lost and it took a lot for the Igbos to find themselves again. Naturally both sides committed several atrocities during the war, the Igbos often killed Nigerian soldiers who surrendered and the Nigerian generals were accused of genocide. However the case may be the war was bitter for everyone involved. This is why it pains me when Igbos who really don't know what war is agitating for war and Independence.
Nigeria is a blessed country, that is cursed with bad leaders and citizens with very poor mindsets. These bad leaders are not limited to one region, they are everywhere in the country. The three major ethnic groups as we all know are highly tribalistic (yet we complain about racism) and fight primarily for their own interests. They all mingle with their own interacting with others only for their self interests.
The Igbos are the most business savvy ethnic group in the country. I like to compare them with Germany who rose from the ashes of World War Two to become an industrial powerhouse. They rose from desolation after the civil war to become some of the richest self made people in the country. How did they achieve this? Simple, by taking advantage of their talents and the lack of such in other people in the country. There's no part of Nigeria that is habitable and safe that an Igbo man will not be found.
But there is such a thing as overdoing it. They want everything to go their way and see everyone else as tribalistic when they are the chief perpetrators. You claim to be victimized but everything that has happened is as a result of their own actions. Igbos pride themselves as developers, believing that the country would be in the Stone Age without them. This thought process coupled with their selfishness has lead them to believe that they are being victimized. Most of the agitators for independence are home based people who have nothing to lose but will actually have an edge over other Igbos returning home after independence. Tye Igbo leaders are among the most divided in the country, never really coming together and sacrificing for the greater good of Ndigbo, instead they all strive for their own interests making it easier for their rivals to divide and conquer. Selfishness and ignorance is the problem of the igbos, a leader promised a land flowing with milk and honey and they all want to cash in without thinking ahead. The truth is Nigerians will always look for opportunities to discriminate, an Ebonyi man will not allow an Anambra man rule as president even though they are all Igbos because they are all inherently selfish.
A time will come when people will unite and fight for the greater good but I strongly believe that the Biafra offered by Nnamdi Kanu is a Mirage, a promise that takes advantage of the inherent selfishness of the Igbos, no one is discussing the sacrifices they will have to make. If they were they would have realized that what we need is reorientation not referendum.
Here's my advice to all, let us stop trying to convince them that Biafra is not the answer. Let them go and see for themselves. Metamorphosis is not a pleasant process but the end result is perfection.....so whenever they play the victim and clamor for the rising sun, encourage them because that is the only way to get them to see the light....

Quite true... It takes a trained ear to appreciate good new age music.... I've had people around me for years who simply refuse to understand the beauty of it.
But then again, some of them developed an aptitude for it after hearing me play new age songs... Unfortunately they tend to stick with the yanni and co never really taking it further...

Bae! I said I love you,
I am saying this with everything in me
I got some dirty flaws, yea! We all got them, on our way to righteous land
When you hear me *aying
*I love you
Believe it with all of *ou
We all know that at times lips lie
But heart can’t
So I seek the heart but not the lips

(Chorus)
It’s a feeling from the girl next door
It’s a feeling that I can’t hold back
In my DNA you found much love
Baby I don’t share this with just anybody
But with someone close to the door
………Awaiting your entry period
Bae! I get hurt when I feel disappointed by my nature
I get wild when I feel my fate isn’t true for the episode
What song is that?

Music/Radio / New Age Music Lovers Enter Here by silas24(m): 8:55am On Aug 30, 2017
Compared to most genre, new age music is relatively unpopular in Nigeria but those with a fine eye for good music always find a way to source them..
I had my first sample of new age when yanni's "rite of passage" was used as the soundtrack for an Ad on TV... Since then I've been hooked... Most people only know the very popular new age artistes like Enya and only their most popular songs e.g Only time.
Share your experience with new age, alternative rock and electronic pop here... And don't forget to recommend your favorite songs and artistes for others..
Phones / Re: How Did You Lose Your Last Phone? by silas24(m): 7:51am On Aug 29, 2017
I've never lost a phone but the topic brings my uncle's wallow to mind... He went all the way from Lagos to Warri to attend a friend's wedding, while he was dancing they removed his tab from his Agbada pocket and he didn't even notice, worst part was that they now used the phone to send texts to all his contacts claiming he was stranded and in need of funds, people sent card worth several tens of thousands, family, friends and colleagues alike.... Twas ridiculous.....
