Politics / Theoritically, You Can Transmit Election Results Electronically - INEC by silverbirdng(f): 8:52am On Aug 30, 2019
The Independent and National Electoral Commission's Director of Publiclity, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi has stated that there might be a theoritical transmission of election results electronically even though it is not embedded in the electoral laws.

The INEC spokesperson who disclosed this while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday August 29, maintained that the nation’s laws do not create room for the electronic transmission of electoral results. He further alleged that the electronic transmission of results is not immune to manipulation as it can also be manipulated by those whose aim is to undermine results.

“Theoretically, in our elections, you can transmit the results electronically. But the law in Nigeria does not allow for that.

“If Nigerians want that to happen, then you can do that. But that does not mean it will not be susceptible to manipulation by people who are interested in manipulating the process,” he said.

Osaze-Uzzi also explained that the most important part of an election process is the actual voting and direction of result.

“That is the building for the very foundation. If that is not right, others are not right. Even if INEC gets the collation wrong which it should not, there is a process by which, for example it is challenged, it goes back to the commission" he added.

Politics / Buhari Has Judiciary, National Assembly In His Armpit, Pocket – Buba Galadima by silverbirdng(f): 9:57am On Aug 29, 2019
Buba Galadima, ex-spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Council, has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari has the judiciary and National Assembly, “completely under his armpit and pocket.”

Galadima said this while accusing the Buhari-led administration of intimidating and muzzling the judiciary. Featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Galadima was reacting to claims that some “friends of this government” are trying to manipulate cases in court.

He also berated Buhari for failing to sign the Electoral Amendment Bill despite being passed by the National Assembly weeks to the general election.

Galadima stated that the refusal to append his signature was a deliberate ploy by the presidency to rig the poll, a situation that led to a face-off between the executive and legislature.

According to Galadima: “This government is intimidating the judiciary. You have heard in the social and print media of certain friends of this government visiting judges, trying to mould their opinion on the cases before them.

“We have the head of a government who believes that he will first accuse you and it will be your duty to prove yourself innocent.

“There is no place, no country in the world where you are accused and you prove yourself innocent. The President has consistently stood on this promise and now that he has the complete judiciary under his armpit and the National Assembly inside the pocket, we Nigerians are in trouble.

Crime / Man Kills School Bully At Reunion After Bearing 53-year Grudge by silverbirdng(f): 2:19pm On Aug 28, 2019
A retired Marine attending a school reunion in Thailand took revenge on a man who bullied him over 50 years ago by shooting him dead.

Thanapat Anakesri, a 69-year-old former Marine, confronted Suthat Kosayamat, also 69, at the end of the event, which took place on Saturday, Aug. 24, the Daily Mail reported.

Following an evening of eating, drinking, and reminiscing, Anakesri reminded his former tormentor of how when they were both 16 years old, he suffered at the hands of the alleged bully.

The former naval officer reportedly pressed Kosayamat, a tailor, to recall the childhood bullying and apologize.
The Mirror reported that Kosayamat refused to say he was sorry, so Anakesri then allegedly pulled a handgun, pointed it at his former classmate, and fired.

Kosayamat was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Tuean Klakang, the class of 1966 president who organized the event, was cited by the Metro as telling police Anakesri would often complain about Kosayamat’s alleged bullying. He added he did not believe the grudge was serious enough to escalate into a shooting.

“Thanapat (Anakesri) would get drunk then often talk about how angry he was about being bullied by Suthat (Kosayamat),” Klakang said, according to the Metro. “He never forgot about it.”

“But as these things happened such a long time ago, I would never have imagined that he would have killed his friend like this. We are all shocked by it.”

Police Captain Sombat Somboondee was cited by the Daily Mail as saying a manhunt has been launched for Anakesri, who fled the scene after the shooting and is believed to be hiding in a neighbouring province.

According to the Mirror, the Ang Thong Provincial Court has issued an arrest warrant for Anakesri on charges of murder.

The Thailand shooting incident follows the case of a middle school student in California who was left with severe brain and spine injuries after another student allegedly choked him.

The incident involved a 12-year-old victim and a 14-year-old student. The 14-year-old allegedly shoved the other student against a wall in a stranglehold at the Animo Westside Charter Middle School in Los Angeles, according to a lawsuit filing cited in reports.

“The violent choking attack caused significant permanent neurological and physical injury and emotional terror to a completely vulnerable child who was betrayed by the school entrusted to protect him,” the lawsuit said, reported the New York Daily News.

TV/Movies / Khafi Breaks Down In Tears After Watching Ike And Mercy Kiss – Video by silverbirdng(f): 12:23pm On Aug 28, 2019
Current BBNaija head of house, Khafi, seems not to have gotten over the fact that her in-house boyfriend, Gedoni has been evicted from the show.

In a video making the rounds, BBNaija power couple, Ike and Mercy were seen having a little bit of fun in Khafi’s presence. The three of them were sharing a bed and ‘gisting’ when all of a sudden, Ike flipped Mercy over and began to sprinkle kisses all over her face. Although Mercy made some feeble protests, Ike made no move to stop and Khafi simply laughed over it.

Not long after this, another video was spotted in which Khafi, who at this point was alone in bed, was seen crying. The tears, which were shed silently in a bid to keep her emotions to herself, were probably because she misses Gedoni and Mercy and Ike’s actions merely served as a brutal reminder of what she had and lost.

Politics / Smart Adeyemi Is My ‘political Wife’ – Dino Melaye Boasts by silverbirdng(f): 9:10am On Aug 24, 2019
Embattled lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has described Senator Smart Adeyemi as his ‘political wife’.

Melaye stated this in an interview with Channels Television on Friday after the Kogi State National Assembly and State Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sacked him as the Senator representing Kogi West district.

A three-man panel of the Tribunal led by Justice Anthony Chijioke, has ordered a fresh election in the senatorial district.

Melaye, who contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he was not worried by the judgement, boasting he had always defeated Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I want to assure you that Smart Adeyemi is my political wife.

“I defeated him in 2015, I defeated him in 2019 and any day any time, he is my political wife.

“I want to say that I cannot be distracted and I will not be distracted. My name is Daniel; I will not fall … I am focused on my governorship ambition and we will get it.

“The only time there will be an election for the seat of the Senate in Kogi West is after I am sworn in as the governor of Kogi State.

“That will necessitate vacancy but before then, there will be no by-election as a result of an attempted robbery that is going on right now.

“Spiritually, we are already in the court of appeal; physically we will be there on Monday. The only election that will be conducted is the governorship election that I will win. My mandate is secured, my mandate is guaranteed,” Melaye said.

Politics / Rochas Okorocha Stole N1trillion – Ihedioha by silverbirdng(f): 10:20am On Aug 23, 2019
Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has accused former Governor Rochas Okorocha, of stealing N1trillion while in power.

This was contained in a statement on Friday issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Steve Osuji.

“Available records show that in eight years, former Governor Okorocha mismanaged about One Trillion Naira belonging to Imo State”, he said.

“We are taking our time in unveiling the numerous atrocities of the last administration and certainly, he must answer for all the evil he did against the people of Imo State.

“It is very strange that a former Governor could sit and concoct lies. How could Governor Emeka Ihedioha spend N2.8b on sanitation? What was it used for? Okorocha’s problem is that he is so used to lies that he no longer knows the difference between lies and the truth.

“The state spends only about Twenty Five Million Naira on sanitation and the bulk of the funds come from support from corporate organizations as part of their corporate social responsibility.

“Okorocha also alleged that Governor Ihedioha has, within two months in office, built a Hotel in Abuja and new houses in Owerri and his village. This further shows that the man, Okorocha is sick.

“As at today, Governor Ihedioha operates from his private residence in Owerri, following the pillage and vandalisation of Government House by former Governor Okorocha and his cronies.

“How could he say the Governor is building new houses, when he owns a palatial residence in Owerri, where he operates from and mansions in his village, built many years ago? The question is – are houses built in two months?

“Only Okorocha can build a house in two months and it collapses after a short while. Imo people already know that Okorocha is a habitual liar and should not be taken seriously.

“The truth is that Okorocha wrecked Imo State. All he is doing is to attempt to divert the attention of Imo people. Unfortunately, Imo people are smarter than that.

“He also claimed that Governor Ihedioha did not win the last election. So who won? He cannot get over the fact that his puppet in-law failed; he is also in pains that he has not been able to extend his dynasty in Imo.

“But no amount of falsehood will deter the people’s governor, Ihedioha from fulfilling his electoral promise of rebuilding Imo State. The present administration shall remain on course in its efforts to recover Imo people’s funds and property looted by Rochas Okorocha and his cronies,” he said.'

Politics / Crime Was Low And People Were Content When Churches Were Not So Rampant - Omokri by silverbirdng(f): 10:29am On Aug 22, 2019
According to Reno Omokri, 'as a youth growing up in Nigeria, churches were not so rampant. The crime was low and people were content. As I grew up, churches became rampant.

As they increased, crime rose and discontentment grew. Perhaps Nigeria needs more contentment and less religiosity? As a nation, we need to understand that it is a righteousness that exalts a nation and not religion'.
