Good morning Lagos NIV , I hope you are having a great day.
I had my interview on the 21st of December 2017 at the Embassy at Lagos. My visa was approved by the consular officer and he also issued me the white pickup paper.
However I checked my visa status online and it showed Administrative Processing. I was contacted via email on the 27th of December to pick up my passport at my selected pickup center( DHL CENTER) at Port Harcourt . On getting it, I realized it wasn't stamped, I also checked my status online and it still shows administrative processing.
Kindly advise on what my next step should be.
NB: My travel date is 5th January. I trust this would be attended to in your habitual swift manner |

Visa approved today at Walter Carrington. Appointment time was 8am I left my zero star hotel by 5am, got to the embassy by past 6. Fast forward to the interview. I was interviewed by the bearded (nice) guy in window 1. The man he interviewed before me came with what looked like a map. The dude practically did a presentation, I wasn't surprised his visa approved. My transcript proper Vo: Good morning Me: good morning, how are you today? ( he responds accordingly) Vo: why did you choose this school? Me: I chose Esu because it offers a combination of both microbial and Cellular Biology as a concentration, which is my primary area of interest in Biology ( vo cuts in) Vo:Why this course? Me:My ultimate career goal is to become a lecturer, so having acquired practical job experience in this field at my present place of work, I want to pursue a Masters degree in this course so as to afford me the needed knowledge and relevant research skills which would ensure I succeed as a lecturer Vo: do you have a background in Biology? ME: yea, I studied medical microbiology in my undergraduate Vo: define microbiology ME : Mcb is a branch of Biology that studies microorganisms and their relationship with their environment ( I was aware this wasn't a standard definition, but it was the best I could do to prevent me from stammering or keeping quiet). (Funny thing is that during my responses I realized I had a Guardiola in me; I was gesticulating. I was surprised myself too. In between questions I would ask myself "hope I don't appear desperate?" Vo: tell me something about Biology, Differentiate between bacteria and virus Me: Still boning but doing Jurgen klopp celebration in my mind I responded thus. A virus is an organism that can only replicate when inside a host. They are classified as being obligate intracellular parasites, simply put, they can only reproduce whilst inside a host. But bacteria only need a suitable environment to thrive, when I say suitable I Mean conducive temperature, nutrient availability, ( vo cuts in) Vo: did you apply to any other schools? Me: yea( he asks me to list them) Alabama A&M, Northern Illinois University. Vo: how many accept? Me: Alabama A&m VO: Who's paying for your flight Me: My mum Vo: what does she do? Me: sells jewelries and clothes... I forgot to mention where her shops are located. I was tempted to do so. But by now he was typing away so I chiled Vo: (while typing) are you married? Me : no Vo: any kids? Me for my mind I was like but oga I never Marry na.) I responded "No" Vo: ever left the country? Me: no... Then I saw him pull my passport closer to him and reached for the white paper. The normal pick up your passport at the circled location. I wished him a merry Christmas, he responded. I must say the guy was quite easy to talk to. NB : I couldn't thank some guys Here enough if I wanted to, anyone ever been so kind and helpful you keep asking yourself why they being that way? icool, oluezekiel MR4.00GPA, Twoods, Alexandersheriff, texrem NB : know your course and don't memorize your answers, that way even if you become tensed you can't forget, it's just going to come out different but still same message. Like oluezekiel and Alexandersheriff kept hammering into me .Dont panic! It's just a conversation with another human being. |

Nobody should come down here and keep tarnishing our image as Nigerians. This is a public forum, you don't mess it up with assumptions and unconfirmed info.
All i want is keep everything on low key, unless you can prove we do on this forum.. As far as i am concern, people on this forum are sane.
Everybody, keep your head up and do what is right! You got mail! |

femi312: Well maybe private schools but I will never question a first class from a public school, because I know how hard it is to make a first class , at least I know of my Alma mata, OAU. Its a matter of life and death. Getting a 2.1 in a public school is a laudable feat as well |

For any assistance you need, from the smallest to the biggest, we can find a way to make it work.
Landing at San Antonio airport (2hours 30mins) and Corpus Christi airport (1hour) to school are convenient but more expensive.
George Bush IAH (4hours to kingsville) - the most preferred and cheaper option for those landing here for school - is like 35minutes from Greyhound at 2121 Main street Houston and cost around $40 by Uber. Then about $70 Greyhound Houston to Kingsville. This price fluctuates. Plus an additional $15-$20 to get to 'your apartment' from your last stop at kingsville.
There are cheaper options to do this, one being the group >>TAMUK rides<< on facebook. You can also schedule a pickup organised by the school, IAH to school, but you need to book this. icool!!! |

BenNash: Hello guys I need your help on something. My school is about to send my i-20 and I want them to send it to someone in the u.s so the person can send it to me so that I can save time. The school wants to use FedEx to send the i-20 to the u.s address. Please how long do you think it'll take to send my i-20 from a place like North Dakota to New York. And is there a faster alternative?? Thanks. Why not send it directly to your Nigerian mailing address. I used FedEx; Paid on a Monday, got my i20 on Friday (of that same week) |

VO don't like it when they hear you know about a school online.
Tell them something personal.
You answers are not convincing at all.
Research more and give them something real.. You will be approved. Really? VO don't like it when you tell them you heard about a school online?
Could you be kind enough to tell us what they love to hear? |

Everybody before me was denied - why the fūck does everyone say this nonsense, yes we know you have now become a visa guru, but please keep this BS to your self Same thought crossed my mind. As we know sometimes getting a visa isn't really a function of your responses. |

TWoods: This wasn't directed at me but i will presume that i'm one of the "individuals" being referred to above. So allow me to state my case, as politely as possible:
1. Yes, most questions asked here are solely because the individual asking the question is lazy and unserious. For example, someone asks the question about whether a school is good or not - this shouldn't even be a question, a 5-year old can find this out in 10 minutes on google. Another example, someone asks about whether a certain school will waive application fees - err most schools have a dedicated admissions contact with a listed phone number and email address; it doesn't take 5 minutes to make a quick phone call to clarify. My point - if you're basing an important life-changing decision, such as what school to do a phd in, on answers you get from a web forum, yes you are unserious.
2. You talk about "knowledge acquired" coming from a starting point. True... but the knowledge was not acquired by magic. It took someone else taking time to search for information. You should do the same.
3. The idea that people are being bullied is simply laughable. I can agree that too often, Nigerians dislike being shown up for their own incompetence... but to label that as bullying? C'mon...
4. Be polite or don't respond at all... now it seems to me that what you want is an echo chamber. If that is the case, please state so.
Thank you. I'll start by saying if I could choose a mentor on this thread, Twoods would be top of the list I'd admit your responses can be harsh sometimes, but yes, in there inbetween would always lie the response to the question. As for the illustration you gave, that's where silence comes in or maybe a scathing response. |

EZEIGBO1OFIMO: OK sir.......... just in case you wanted to put me down with insults , I thought it courteous to save you the stress. Sincerely apologize if I sounded insultive. My point is : Sometimes when a question is asked here it's not because the individual is lazy or unserious, for every knowledge acquired there's always a starting point. SOMETHINGS you know today you were probably oblivious of MONTHS ago. I particularly find it quite disturbing when people seize the opportunity to make fun of these individuals or bully them. No one knows it all. Be polite, or don't respond at all(IMO). |
