The right thing when done at the wrong time is wrong; a lot of people have left their parents house unprepared for life in the world because someone challenged them to leave their comfort zone. What most people fail to realize is that the term "comfort ZONE" is not necessarily a geographic location. There's nothing wrong with living with one's parents until they are able to afford the expenses that comes with striking out on their own. Just don't get too comfortable living there though. I know a guy who lived with his parents till he turned 28. First time he left his parents house was for the US where he lives till date. This was largely possible because he was able to save up and take care of the expenses this move required while living there

It would be nice if you don't make comments on a subject you have zero knowledge on. Don't say things based on hearsays on a public forum unless it's something you've personally experienced or have verified.

Sometime in 2018 I was sick and had no insurance at the time, I got medical attention first from an emergency room and then a few days later from a county hospital. I personally know a friend who got into an accident and had an emergency surgery, his bill was over 30k. It's not like this is free health care, no ER or hospital in the US turns you away; you get the needed medical attention and in a couple of weeks you get the bill in the mail

No you are wrong. Read my post. If you are doing a certain amount you find it very hard to leave that place. Will Bill Gates leave America if America becomes Nigeria tomorrow. Why? He has created a niche for himself. When you create a niche for yourself? You don’t have any regrets about your decisions. A country is not rated based on amenities but by GDP which we can term “productivity of the people”. Whilst I will agree that sometimes there needs to be basic amenities for people to be productive, it is not a basic requirement. You should be able to innovate. Put simply then, Nigerians are not productive as one would expect. Reason for the non productivity can be seen from comments on this thread. Nigerians calling Nigeria shot hole on social media. You see where the problem is. You don’t have to have any regrets living in or leaving Nigeria!

You seem to misunderstand your self, in your first post you mentioned that individuals who make a certain amount of money aren't complaining about Nigeria. From my knowledge of the pay rate in Nigeria and the present economic state i know very few people make such amounts and if they did, they can be considered as being wealthy by Nigerian standards and that was why i mentioned being rich.

When i speak about basic amenities i do so because these are some the yard sticks by which economies and societies are judged. These are things that make an individuals life decent and a bit more comfortable. Can you imagine the US without power constant power supply, shitty education system or road networks as what is obtainable in Nigeria , but to mention a few , these are the things that make the western world attractive and better place to live. Everything is inter connected, connect the dots when you argue

Utility bills and taxes paid ensure amenities are maintained and available in western countries so yes, I'm fully aware of what I was talking about when I drew a correlation between been wealthy and quality of life.

Talking about things been free in Nigeria, whatever happened to the things not free? Some neighborhoods Still get light bills despite the the poor power supply, you hear stories of loots by ex government officials been recovered but these disappear unaccounted for.

The point here is not about being rich, not everyone is going die rich. In a sane society you dont have to be rich t enjoy the following

* Security
*Quality healthcare
*Good social amenities
*Affordable clothing and Nutritious food
*Quality education
*Human rights
The list is endless. . . I think the point is about the quality of life and living in a society where your dreams stand a chance of coming through

After I finished my high school in 2005, I wanted to work and make money, so I was directed to a now defunct bank(Ecobank Sapele Road Branch, Benin City) to meet someone there to get a job as a janitor.

I went there and met this man, he told me my salary will be N6, 000, but I must pay him N4,000 cash before I get the job. I told him I had no money as I just finished my high school and then told him to deduct it from my first salary in that case - it was as if I insulted him by saying that. He said no way that he is going to have to give the job to someone who can pay him. That was how I didn't get that job. It changed a whole lot for me at that point.

Fast forward to about 15 years later, I landed in America with an immigrant visa. All I needed to apply for a job was a social security number (other than my visa). Started applying for different one online. I even got one without an interview - all that was needed to know was that I was legal, drug-free and able to work. That was it! No bribe, no payment of any sort.

Now, among many other injustices and harsh life the average Nigerian man and woman has to endure, tell me why I should regret leaving. Listen, I am not saying my life is perfect here, but I have a lot to be grateful for.

My only regret is not being able to bring all my family with me.

After NYSC, i got a sales job in a bank paying 40k , monthly target was was 1M. i wore out two pairs of shoes trekking all over town, my hair turned brown from the sun. I resigned after 3 months to save my life. After spending the next 2 months in recovery, i got another job in a one man organization, the pay was 30k; now i basically ended up being an errand boy though my job role was administrative officer, well, i guess i was the administrative errand boy. One of my lowest moments working their was the day the boss had me do his wife( full time house wife ) grocery shopping. Prior to this i'd always get gas for his power gen' set at home when i get off work and buy his lunch. Being owed salary till the second week of the month was normal, after which i'd be paid 25 or 25k out of 30k, with the balance to be paid later.

There are days i reminisce, and i still have no idea how i managed to survive in Nigeria all my life.

The question should be " What are your regrets not leaving Nigeria?"

PS: However, on the flip side i think we'd all agree that Nigeria made us the people we are today or still hope to become

Hi guys, in 2015 I been post about a friend wey wan enter US through the community college system and a lot of guys in the house had negative comments about the whole thing. Some of them give legit reasons out of ignorance, cos wetin person no know him no know. I just wan update them in case them still dey here dey give advice...2015 the guy got the admission to study nursing in rural America, visa was approved in May 2015, started prerequisites as soon as him enter, 2018 got ASN registered nurse, 2019 after 1year online BS got BSN, now he's in a DNP program which will last approx 3 years, married and Got his green card approved last month...green application card took 3 months. I dey share this for all the dreamers with legit reasons to migrate to 1st world countries, no let anybody wey dey form I too know ruin your dreams. My story don finish, make una wey be advicers for this forum no dey trample on people dreams because Dem share am for advice, so give advice not shove your opinions down Dem throat. Naija for life, stay true to the hustle guys.

I believe you also know how much has changed as regards immigration policies ( written and unwritten ) in the last 5 years?

If you're in America already, you do NOT need a visa. The ban is on Immigrant VISA. You only need VISa to enter the country, you dont need a visa to stay in the country.

Violating the terms of a non immigrant visa makes you go out of status, so I think you need a visa to stay in a country legally. Unless you adjust your immigration status or leave the US as is stipulated by the terms of your visa... But What do I know?

I am surprised to read the comments this post is getting, there is nothing wrong if a lady tells you she is coming to visit you but fails to show up. This could be because she does not trust you enough to be alone with you or something else came up, but either ways no lady owes you a visit. Girls are being raped everyday just because they decided to "come over" . if you had a sister would you be comfortable if she told you she was going to visit any of the guys who have been lamenting on this thread? If you know your intentions are genuine you won't have to block a girls phone just because she didn't show up... would you block your guys number just because he didn't "come over" ( well, unless you are gay )

What could have gone wrong? On my I20, there is a Total funding of $23k (out of which tuition & fees, $11.8k) which will be paid for by my uncle. I wasn't even asked to present any document (SOA, sponsorship letter or the likes).
