Go on indeed , there are plenty of jobs to apply for.

I've reduced my job hunt as I already have a job. But still open for remote employment though

thanks.

Ejiod:
Out of the 3,
One from from lekki asked me to analyze data as assessment of which I pythonize it,running pandas and Power BI on it.Had to utilize all my skills to solve the problem. This was a big edge I had over others. Some excel users will be calling theirselves data analyst but they are just far from it... before you knew it,in just a week I got a notification that "Can I resume the following week" with a net pay of 180k. Damn!... I was so so happy... first data analyst job and the best thing about it was that it was remote..No transport, just me in my house and I report to boss every Friday what I've been doing.
Had to share my story too to freetutorials.us because they were helpful with tons of tutorials I downloaded from them.
Fast forward..4 month into the job damn, I started expanding and experimenting my skills. I became more of a Business intelligence developer. Before a year, I've toured round 15 states in Nigeria all by flight....
I loved what I was doing then, but one thing about remote job is that sometimes it may make you lazy and extravagant sometimes. Its then you will be thinking of going to cinema to watch film or event centers......

nice story you have there.

what do you mean by pythonizing the task.

and I would like your advise on how to go about getting data analyst job.

I have excel, mysql, python and power Bi as skill sets.

Imakeherdrip:
Good

I think the days of getting a job as a data analyst by simply learning only SQL, python and Excel is drawing to a close(I might be wrong).
Recruiters are becoming inhumane these days.

I applied for a data scientist (and software dev) job. I was given a task to create a movie recommender to recommend movies to people, which I did with the help of google. Only for the hr to send me a second task to build a CRUD app using express, mongo, react, typescript
With testing using mocha, jest , etc

I started but was discouraged (it means I'll have to go back to relearn node and web testing. And I need to learn react as I only have experience using vuejs) and I'm currently learning asp as I speak. I had to ignore the project before I Die of stress!

Back to data science
Someone asked me to build my portfolio with the following projects since I do not have any industrial experience.

Machine learning projects
1. CNN
2. RNN
3. NLP

Descriptive Analysis
1. Create dashboards showing various Analysis
2. Make sure to use scrapy for data sourcing

Subscribe (monthly) for a cloud service to deploy your models (costs money)

Build a Flask wrapper(website) around your ML model for people to use.

The above would take some months to achieve (especially if you have a job).

And I'm yet to learn scrapy --

Thank you Lord!

wow..you just reinforce my learning with this post.

I am quite cool with the analytics and going forward with data science with Python.

with SQL, Excel and Power BI, I still feel I needed more. so I dive into machine learning.

I realised I needed to put project on my portfolio.
so I just learned git and going forward, continue with my data science and adding project porrfolio.

and concerning scrapy, why not use beautiful soup?
you mind if I get your contact for further discussion?

Bro, thank you for this.
you just reinforce my learning with this.

slow down with data science because I need to start putting stuff on my portfolio on github and so i had to learn git.

you mind if I can get your number for connection.

Hello guys,
I am really seeking for programmers and developers to work with and we will benefit together.

I am a programmer, developer, hacker(both white and black-hat), analyst and others.. but due to business and very tight schedules, I don't get any chance to code except at night when I work on my personal projects.

I do get offers and coding/programming jobs a lot both big and small so I need good coders and developers to work with and we can also get to interact better.

You will get opened to new opportunities plus juicy offers and your rewards or payments is guaranteed for sure.

If you are interested in joining me, drop your whatsapp number below and also write which aspect of computer science you are into and I will contact you.

I reside in Abuja mainly with other locations at port-harcourt, warri and Lagos so I do migrate a lot.

NOTE: all interested individuals will be tested cos no fake developer or learner needed.

Thanks...

I just found your post.

I am a data analyst.

Still on my word..

Kcee is better than WizKid lyrically..

You can report me to your father if you don't like my comment

He does not have to report your foolishness to his father. Your ancestors will do.

How can a sane person says KCEE of Limpopo or Rema who just spat nonsese chunning out words you cant even relate with have better lyrics than Wizkid.

Go listen to Wizkid's Essence with Tems, Grace and sweet. That dude has matured and moved on from your Nigerian Pangolo music.

ADAMUdaCOWBOY:
Please assist me. I want to go into business/data analytics. Please how do I go about that. I love mathematics, but I don't have a background in computer science or statistics.

For business analyst, you don't need CSC or statistics infact you don't really need programming per say.

What you need are

1.advanced excel skill(DAX, power pivot and power query)

2. Microsoft power BI

3. Tableu

You can go to youtube and search for "MSTPDA" from mike popular known as excel is fun.

That will give you a strong start for the first 2.

Contango:
Know exactly what you will like to do first. Do you want to be a web programmer, desktop applications programmer or mobile?

Here's an unpopular advice:

1. Master algorithms and data structures first. (Know your sorting and search algorithms very well. It will help you in programming for large data sets)
2. Learn basics about database(SQL) and networking. (In most cases, you will need to bind your program module with databases)
3. Learn general programming with perhaps python.
4. Advanced python with datascience or machine learning

You want to kill the poor boy?

Data science, SQL and data structure for a start!

kponkedenge:
Start from the basis, html, CSS and then go into database like SQL, Oracle etc.

Who the Bleep need HTML and CSS to learn SQL?

@op
If you are going into database, you can go straight to SQL or oracle.

If you wanna build website like many Nigerians are into, then HTML, CSS, JS/php/django route will be fine.

If you wanna build mobile/window app, options like python, Ruby, java, JS are there too

Python and R for data science. So pick what fascinate you and practice everyday like your CGPA depends on it.

I wish I had the resources and advice you are having now when I was in your shoe

Most importantly, any language you wanna start with, learn the basics first. The complex part are built from the basics.

Good luvk
